Anyone use Sprint PCS phones in the parks? Did they work OK?

I used a Sprint PCS phone at the Boardwalk okay - I doubt the park would be much different.

DH and I both use Sprint PCS service. The phones worked fine in MK and MGM--didn't use them at Epcot and AK. We also had no problem at Poly and GF.

i've had a few problems with it at the MK, but in general it has worked fine. :) no problems at por, csr, or the beach club either.

I've never had any problems either, and I've used my Sprint PCS phone all over WDW.

Unfortunately, mine works to well. I speak with my clients regularly from the World;)

InstImpres - That will be my DH. He'll be standing in line talking to customers & making sales calls on his Sprint PCS phone. He's done it at DL & LegoLand. When you own your own business, all vacations are "working vacations". Oh, well, keeps the money coming in & keeps our customers happy. So I guess it's good to hear they work well in the World.

Oh so true, that is why I can also tell you depending where you are on property, Kinkos's is less than 10 minutes away.

I've started to look at this way, the person on the phone paid for the trip, I'll talk to them at WDW and let them live vicariously:p

My Sprint PCS phone worked fine in all the parks. Sometimes after being in a ride (UofE for example) it would go on roam but was fine when I got back outside. I also used it to hook up to our laptop and surf the web from AKL.

I've never used my Sprint PCS phone for internet connection, though I know I can. Is it any faster than the dial-up data port in the rooms? Or just cheaper cuz the minutes are already paid for? Because we will definitely need internet access while we are there.

It is ISDN speeds most of the time. I am not sure what the data port speed is. I have unlimited web so it is good to check mail, etc..

I am posting the dissenting view. I have not had a lot of luck with Sprint in the parks. (Two different phones so I don't think it is the phone!) Also, my phone cannot find ANY signal in some of the attractions so goes into Power save. If I don't realize this it won't be on for the rest of the day.

Reception at OKW is VERY spotty.

The problems I have had with Sprint at Disney are one of the reasons I would like to change providers if the FCC lets me take my phone number.

CarolA, when did you take your phones? Was it awhile ago? I'm just wondering if they've made reception better in the area since you were there. Especially with everyone else saying they worked fine. We are taking them this week, so I'll know very shortly! And my dh will definitely be doing business on the phone while we are there! I refuse to shush the kids at DW though!;)

Actually, my DH tells the customers that he's on a family vacation. The customers (or potential customers) are always impressed with such "service". Also, a lot of their "emergencies" suddenly become not so important & they say they can wait until he comes back from vacation. ;)

I look forward to your report on how the Sprint phone works.

I am not sure what the data port speed is.

I understand it's good old 28/56K fax/modem style.

I take it all the time. Epcot and OKW are where I have noticed the most problems with the signal. I was there in June and it was fine at the Swan but spotty over by Canda in Epcot.
