I'm taking April as a month for Spring Cleaning--my life, not just my house.

Today, I'm tackling our income taxes. That project is hanging over me like an ugly cloud.

Tomorrow I'm going to sit down with a journal and make plans for a month of clearing the clutter in my life, not just my house.

I'm thinking one big and one small project per week would be a stretch, but still doable.

What needs to be Spring Cleaned in your life?

The No Buy and Eliminate Clutter boards have been great support to people on the DIS. Let's do this together too.

I am with you. I have some things that have been hanging over my head for a while. There are some things that just require me to put in the time and effort. I don't have anything big planned this weekend so I will be doing my taxes and organizing stuff in my basement.

I have a bunch of cd's that need to be digitized and sold. Shoes to be donated, and a host of other stuff. I am with you on the spring cleaning my life too. I also have some furniture that I need to get rid of and shredding that will require me to live next to the machine.

I am embarking on a new exercise plan and a new eat at home endeavor. The whole thing is making me anxious but I am more anxious with some of this stuff hanging over my head.

I am with you. Viva Spring Cleaning.

I'm in. There is a bunch of stuff I need to declutter in my life and hopefully we can all support each other in getting it done.

Count me in too :cool1: This will be the first month I will be trying the no buy month and it will be my house that needs the spring cleaning. Starting with the windows!

Taxes for me too today. I'd planned on it anyway, but found out yesterday that I'll be out of town for work for the next two weeks (home on weekends). We have a complicated return and that definitely cuts into my time, even with the extra time to 4/18.

I started this last Monday and have been surprised at how much I have gotten done.

If anyone needs help Flylady has always been a great resource for me and by the end of the month you are done!

Good luck all!

I'm in with you! I started last weekend by cleaning out the unfinished part of the basement and now I'm starting with my health - making lots of appointments to get a few things that I've been delaying done :thumbsup2

We make this a "support" thread!!!!

Oh, our taxes were done back in February and we've already received our money - which has helped since I'm not working.

I'm in...just made the appointment to do our taxes, and I should make a list of projects/errands I've just been putting off. Too many things "hanging over me like an ugly cloud" that need to be spring-cleaned!

Any support that anyone can give will be really helpful, glad I found this thread!

Making a list is a great place to start. Mine is now very long, but I will absolutely enjoy crossing those things off!

My plan is to do a clean sweep of all the major rooms, but start with the basement storage room because most of the junk we want to keep that is up in the house but doesn't need to be is only there because we have no place to put it in the basement! So it all starts there.

Blegh. I hate that job. But I love crossing things off my list!

Taxes were done in January.
Month end is done for March.
No reason to put this off I guess...

I think this is a great idea but please be careful not to bite off more than you can chew. One big project a week is likely to set you up with failure as life can easily sidetrack you and then you are disappointed that you did not meet your goals. Our lives did not get cluttered in a few months and it can take several months to get back on track. I highly recommend that you check out flylady.net. it is meant to get the chaos and clutter out of your life. google flylady and you will see how she has been featured in magazines, tv etc. I found her in Family Circle years ago. She comes up with a method of organizing your home, body clutter, finances etc. and focuses on taking care of yourself. And then gives you tools advice on how to not let it happen again. It is a really uplifting method. It won;t get you instant results in a month, but will lead to long term success(so the junk drawer is not a junk drawer again in a month or two etc.) Good luck, nothing feels as good as freeing yourself from the clutter in your way and holding you back from enjoying life.

We have so many projects to do around here. I already started to go through the bed room and already took away one bag of trash and two to donate. Why do i hang onto so many things?

I also have a ton of pictures to print out ove 800:scared1:

:thumbsup2 I agree with this. I've been working for 15 minutes at time today on cleaning my downstairs family room and sewing room, in between swapping loads of laundry.

Glad I found this thread. I have been sick all week so today started off with cleaning and I'll just keep on going. Overall everything is pretty good but need to tidy up and unclutter some things!

I cleaned the hall closet out today (before I ever read this) and also wrote the check to pay state taxes (federal we have already gotten back).

I'm clearing out similiarly. My son, whom I love very much, will be 20 in September. I am clearing responsibility for cleaning up after his poor choices from my life. Today I refused to send him rent money--difficult but it had to be done! Next I am physically cleaning his old room out and boxing his stuff up once and for all.

Finally onto the basement where I am sure there are a million square feet of usable space hidden under boxes!

Decluttering the mind and soul as well as the house can be a healthy thing!

Ugh, I started months ago cleaning out both DS's rooms and closets then got busy and never finished. It is a top priority. I definitely want in!

I'm just going to try to finish what I started. And the sad part is, most of the junk on their floors are just things that I needed to toss! Clearning the clutter sure does make you feel better, hopefully reading this thread will motivate me to complete my goal.

So funny I saw this. I started this same project today! :thumbsup2

I cleaned my bedroom and "found" 2 bags of clothes and a box of books to be donated.

My big project for the month will be the laundry/office room. Right now it is that room in the house that stays door closed. No one except myself, hubby and our kids are allowed to see inside. :rotfl: I would LOVE to make that room into a guest room. Not so sure 1 month is long enough to make it happen but I'm up for the challenge!:)

So, I sat down this afternoon and made a Spring Cleaning schedule for the next couple of weeks so that I won't get overwhelmed :lmao: I already did my DD11 closet (last week), my scraproom (we just remodeled in there) and the unfinished part of the basement (this past weekend) so I'm 1/4 of the way done :thumbsup2

This weekend - linen closet - my DH has agreed to clean the windows and since we have 30 of them, I said "no problem, honey" :rotfl:
Monday - regular chores
Tuesday - dust/vacumn/floors
Wednesday - check up appt. for me
Thursday - my closet
Friday & Saturday - kitchen cabinets & pantry
Sunday - nothing - hey, we all need some rest!
Monday - regular chores
Tuesday - DD13 closet - I'm going to need a gas mask for that one, I think
Wednesday - foyer coat closets
Thursday - organize all my DDs American Girl stuff and put them into storage bins
Friday -have a nice dinner

Let's hope I can stick to it :)

I am in on this one. I have three life areas that all seem to be messed up at the same time. I need to declutter the house, get our finances and spending under control, and deal with my weight. Part of my problem is that I can never seem to get anything done when my husband is home.

My first goal is to go through all of my paperwork and organize it so I can find everything easier. It is all stuck in a banker's box in the office and some of the envelopes are unopened.

I'm getting ready to start my doctorate program, and I want everything clean, organized and clutter free, because once I start, I won't have anytime for stuff like that :)

I had a garage sale and I sold almost everything today. I priced things very reasonably, and by 9:30, I had sold 75% of the stuff. I have 4 grocery sacks of stuff for goodwill, considering my driveway was full of stuff, I'm happy :)
