Refresh my memory.... does everyone get wet on SM or just certain rows ? If cold during our visit I might skip it...

Personally I dont think you get very wet anywhere but the front gets the wettest and it gets dryer the further back you go.

When you go to get seated ask to sit in the rear, we always do. They are very accomodating.

If it's cold, simply wear a poncho, you wont get wet.

Last time we went my nephew and Brother in law sat in the front and they got SOAKED. I was in the third row and my legs got wet and some splash on my leg.

I've sat in just about every row on the ride and I got wet each time. I agree it's wetter up front, but the last time I rode it I was in the back and still got very wet. Maybe not Kali River Rapids wet, but still enough to frizz my hair and make me uncomfortable for a while. :confused3

The front seat gets a LITTLE wetter, but even at that you NEVER get soaked.

I beg to differ.....ds and I got soaked when we were in the front row. It was the end of the night and planning on leaving and we were dripping wet.

Depends on the riders in the boat. If there is more weight in the front the boat it will make a bigger splash when it hits bottom, thus soaking the people in the back. If there is more weight in the back it will "lift" the boat at the bottom so there wont be much of a splash at all.

If you dont want to get wet put the skinnies in the front and the fatties in the back ;)

Depends on which time I rode. Once--not even a drop (other than the seat already being wet). the next----MAN!!!!! Everything all the way down to my socks were drenched!!!!!

I've ridden it about 25 times - have never been soaked. My last trip, the first few rows were filled with bigger folks, and still no soaking. It must be hit or miss...or just a matter of opinion. Either way, you couldn't keep me off it if was cold enough to ice over!

I think that it honestly depends on a few factors. The first couple of rows are always more likely to get wet. I also noticed that it depends on how many people are in your boat and the size of the people as to how wet you might get. Of course, if the waterfall at the end is running you don't want to sit on the right side of the boat because you will get splashed.

It depends.

The front tends to get wetter. Also if there are heavier people in the front, there is more splash.

Sometimes, depending how many logs are on the course and the weight of your boat and other boats water may splash over the side of the boat on some of the smaller dips.

Sometimes, on the big climb towards the beginning of the ride, if you get stuck at the bottom you may get wet from the geyser on the big drop. Usually only happens in the summer when the ride is running at full capacity.

I have gotten a few drops to very wet on this ride. Never soaked though.

I rode in the back of the log this summer and I didn't get wet at all.

I sat in the front and got soaked. My kids were behind me and didn't get nearly as wet. LOL It was fun :goodvibes

Also, I think they turn off part of the water fountains in cold weather. The wettest we ever got was after the big drop where you go around and wait to unload. In the warm weather, there is a stream of water that hits you, but in cold weather, we noticed it wasn't on.

I agree. We've never gotten soaked-to-the-bone anytime except one time when our "log" got stopped just around the curve at the bottom after we splashed down. There's a small waterfall that comes down right there, and if you're sitting on the right side, and get stopped for very long, you can plan to exit dripping wet!

You get soaked on Kali River Rapids. You get a little splash here and there on Splash Mountain. No big deal. As another poster said, there are other factors that deturmine how wet you get. Weight distribution. If there is alot of weight in front, you may get a little wetter.

My definition of soaked is when my feet are squishing in my shoes, our socks and clothes are as wet as when they come out of the washer, my panties are as wet as coming out of the washer and my hair looks like I just showered.

I do agree that weight distribution plays a part in it. However, my point was that making a blanket statement that you don't get wet, isn't always the case.

My DH and I went on SM 8 times when we were there a week or so ago. We always got wet, but depending on where we sat or who else was in the log. Once we were in the third row and got pretty wet and there was only one normal-sized guy in the first row. When my DH and I sat in the front row we got soaked (he is kind of large and I am tall)!! I forget which of the hills it was - might have been the first - a wave actually came over the top of the log and into my lap!!! The first night we were there it was actually pouring out so it didn't matter where you sat!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for that. Now it all makes sense. This thread got me to wondering why I get different variances of "wet" no matter which row I was in. Never thought about it that way before.

Thanks for the tip!!!! :listen:
