Splash down for 6 months.

it wouldn't surprise me if they take something or several big somethings out for the summer once pandora opens. This surprises me and I'm leaning on false info because there has been no announcement and while disney does stuff short notice, long refurbs they knew were coming hasn't been something they've been quiet about.

My kids will be heartbroken if this is true. Splash Mountain is their favorite ride since they started riding "big kid" rides late last year.

Maybe this should be posted on the Rumors board, as that's where I first heard this one, but is Splash Mountain gonna be down for six months for renovations? The start date would be after July 4th, which would make the completion date sometime in January 2018. Apparently the rumor was started by a ride worker, not sure how much in the know he/she would be about these things. We plan to go in August and some other family in October, so hope this Splash rumor is just that.

Well...brer rabbit wants go live a stress free existence...which he symbolically calls his search for the "laughin place"...

But Brer fox and brer bear...being predators with low IQ...come up with an elaborate Wiley Coyote series of overthought, poorly executed schemes that result in embarassing level failure...

Merged you with the existing thread we have on this.

Thanks rteetz and hiroMYhero. I suspected my post might belong on this board, but I had to take circuitous route to get here:tongue:

You ruined my joke...

Come on? "What's the story with splash mountain?"

...that's as "all in good fun/pun" as a 100% joke as I've ever made...
:duck:

Not 6 months but this rumor has popped back up with more validity for these dates, August 28th- November 16th.

I'm sure it's nothing major, most likely maintenance. Most likely just as everyone is stating here, since it's a water ride more things need it more often and/or longer because of that.

Wow, small world. DD went to high school at Soddy. We live in Signal now

Shout out from fellow Chattanoogan (Harrison area). I will be so sad if it's closed when we go in October. It's my favorite ride in MK.

I just poked through this thread now and I absolutely appreciated it haha

Wow. That's a pretty big loss at that time of year. To pull a water ride down in August/September, 2 of the 3 hottest months of the year, is pretty big. I'm curious what they want to pull down after that they want, or I suppose need, this ride down at this time.

Hopefully it's not during August.Rteetz has it going down @ the end of the month, so only September will they have to contend with...Even though there are hot temps down there, it is typically a slower time to visit ( so in WDW eyes ) it makes sense.... What I hope is, that they don't drag their----> you know whatsiz..:teeth: And maybe get it done by end of Oct. or such:confused3

Lol...the original reason I put that was there was another thread titled "so what's the story with splash?..."

It was easy tongue in cheek humor...it can go into all sorts of other horrid places now based on the outside world...:lmao:

I'll start by admitting to being annoyed to losing a Mountain ride for the second September in a row (BTMRR was down last Sept).

That said, wouldn't it make more sense to take it down later in the year, when it gets much cooler? Or even beginning of next year in Jan/Feb? I get that Sept is slower, but it's a water ride, why take it down when people could USE a water ride due to the heat? Especially us poor souls from Maine, and other points North?

/End of whine
