I just had to do this.....LOL

I seem to be the last person in america that pays for gas with cash!!!
one of the local gas stations used to have the option to put cash in at the pump, but they changed the pumps and its no longer and option.


I have to admit, I rarely pump my own gas........I go to a full service they charge the same price as self serve to pump...........or I get gas when dh is with me in my car........

but 9 times out of 10 I pay with cash.

Not just gas, everything. I say the same thing all the time. I rarely see people using cash for anything.

I pay with cash to the attendant that pumps it mostly. If its a self serve I use a card.

I pay at the pump, I spend enough time at the gas station filling up 3 times a week, I dont want to spend anymore waiting in line to pay.

I use my credit card 90% of the time. There is one gas station near me that has a slot for cash so you can pre-pay in cash at the machine.

I couldn't tell you where a full serve station was to save my life. We just don't have those around here.

I use a debit card at the pump except for at one local Shell where they don't accept Debit cards. Then I grumble and go inside and pay cash.

Cash but here in Oregon, we have people who pump our gas so we don't have to get out of the car either! Oregon and NJ are great... I don't even know if I know how to pump my own gas...

IF YOU USE YOUR DEBIT
Be aware that the bank will put a sizeable hold on your account. They pump does not know how much gas you will pump to prior authorize so it may put up to even $100. If that is all you have in your account and you only pump $30 and use it at another vender for $20, you will over draft your account.

If you go inside and prepay the amount you desire that will be the amount held from your account ONLY! GO INSIDE!!!!!

The winning post is right here. We purchase Speedway gift cards with our CC for the CC rewards cash back, plus we get bonus points on our Speedy Rewards Card for further discounts. I just received $150 in CC rewards cash and $60 in Speedway gift cards for buying something I have to buy anyway.

This doesn't work if you don't pay it off every month.

Jersey girl here...I only use cash here in NJ. If we are out of State and dh pumps the gas then he will put it on a cc.

Cash? I never seem to have cash on me. I struggled to .75 cents yesterday for my son to buy a soda in a machine! WHen I do carry cash, its always less than $20

Started paying at the pump when my kids were little, and I couldn't/wouldn't leave them in the car to run in and pay. It just stuck--easy peasey, plus earn the rewards on my southwest CC.

I will very rarely pay for gas w/ cash, if they have a cheaper cash price, but it is rare that I have that much cash on me.
