I think I'm the only person who even recognizes California style pizza. I love NY and visit all the time--the pizza is good for what it is, but the toppings are boring. Nothing like fruits and vegetables on a pizza--love me some roasted asparagus or fig sauce. You don't get that on a NYC pizza, and it's best not to even ask.

We'll likely never have the opportunity to eat there again but it was definitely an experience (and a pizza) against which all future meals are measured.

... A corporate chain place here (Boston Pizza) has something similar on their menu called "The Perogy" with bacon, potatoes and onions. It is to that original pizza as dog food is to foie gras.
