I just got back today from a stay at French Quarter. I want to first say we loved the FQ. It was the perfect resort for the family. BUT upon arriving in our room we found a lizard sunning itself in the window. Animal control was called by housekeeping and then nothing.....we kind of laughed it off and told the girls it was gone, but on day 4 at 6:00 A.M. it greeted my 4 year old dd coming out of the bathroom. MY DH took it out of the room and we never saw it again. We made it a big joke but it really bothers me that Disney didn't even try to remove it, move us, or do something.

We had a great vacation, but the lizard seems to be what the girls are talking about. .."and we had a pet lizard.."

You asked Disney to remove it and they never showed up? :confused3

Lizards in Florida is like having a spider in your house- it just happens.

I probably would have to tried to catch it in something and let it go outside.

I wouldn't have taken my eyes off it it until someone showed up .

Nothing against the little fella, but I wouldn't have been able to ignore the fact that he could show up anywhere at anytime in my room :scared1: .

The lizard may have come into the room through a gap under the door or when the housekeepers opened the door to clean the room. Could have been two different lizards.

You can request a room on the 10th floor here in Florida, but lizards can climb! :lmao:
We had one outside the front door of our house this summer. Our dog could see it through the glass and just go nuts. We chased it away many times, as far as the sidewalk area- about 50 to 60 feet away. He always came back, though! Finally, I had to catch him and take him to a wooded area far behind my house. No more lizard! :worship:

OMG YUCK.. Sorry but I get the heebee jeebees when the things that are SUPPOSED to live/be outside show up inside with me :scared1:

We went to St.Thomas for our Honeymoon and we had a room with a Balcony overlooking the ocean. I loved hearing the waves crash when I was going to sleep BUT woke up one morning to a Lizard in the room. I freaked. it was the day we were leaving. I kept trying to keep an eye on him but lost him. I was so afraid that sucka crawled into the suitcase.

We had a frog in our cabin at Fort Wilderness - it came up out of the toilet!! (I kid you not!). Well, only good thing was that we caught it within an hour or so, then we let it go by our neighbor's cabin. So at least it didn't hop around for 4 days inside - that would have been unnerving! :scared:

As a transplanted Floridian, soon to be moving back to Massachusetts I will say that I will miss those little guys. Cute and harmless. They also keep the bugs out.

I have a HUGE problem with lizards. Seriously, I would have been sleeping in their lobby until they showed proof they had removed the gross little thing from my room.

I actually like lizards. I'll take Florida lizards any day over Florida bugs.

That isn't meant to imply that Disney has a bug problem.

....not a big one anyway. In Dinoland USA I saw four of the biggest bugs I've ever seen literally baking/dying in the sunlight on the side of the walkway (not too noticable). I'm not an expert but they looked like roaches. I swear they were almost 2 inches long not including the antennae.

Florida bugs are HUGE. Bring on the lizards! XD

Can I just ask - if you'd had a spider or bug in your room, would you have called for someone to come and remove it also. As a previous poster said, it just happens. Catch it, put it outside and get on with your holiday. I really don't like creepy crawlies or the like but I wouldn't dream of calling someone in housekeeping/maintenance to get rid - I have a husband for that ;)

Two years ago we were leaving the room and the door was open - my kids tried to corner one in front of the door and of course it ran in the room. I really tried to catch him- but was scared b/c he was so small and I didnt want to crush him. He got away behind the bed... i felt terrible ... thinking he would freeze in there with the A.C.

We see so many lizards on the walkway to our front door, many joke and say that we live in Jurassic Park!

Does anyone else recall reading something about a snake at WL a while back? After that thread I was glad I always stay on the top floor. Please don't tell me that snakes can climb, I really hate snakes. :scared1:
