Spent 4 days with lizard in our room.

I would much rather have a lizard or snake (not the poisonous kind) in my room than a spider. I just hate spiders... :(

First I completely agree w/the 1st posting here FQ is TERRIFFIC! I love it it's the best resort on property(& I've stayed in several!)!! As for the lizzard- get a grip! I can understand if it had been a snake & you freaked, but a lizzard?! The only way they'd hurt you was if you were a bug! I live in S. FL & they're a fact of life in FL!

We had to catch a lizard, while staying at OKW, we were staying on the first floor. They definitely can climb though because the same thing happened at Marriott's Cypress Harbour while staying on the 3rd or 4th floor. I'm not super shocked they didn't come help because they're just so common, and harmless, but if that had been a snake I think I would have been just as freaked out as you were. I probably wouldn't have even bothered catching him, but I was scared he would starve to death or we would put him in the washer by accident while doing the laundry.

Never had a lizard in my room at Disney, but had one in Cancun. He used to run up the wall and hide behind a picture whenever we walked in. Got to the point that we actually looked for him if we didn't see him when we entered! He was our vacation pet.

I just got back today from a stay at French Quarter. I want to first say we loved the FQ. It was the perfect resort for the family. BUT upon arriving in our room we found a lizard sunning itself in the window. Animal control was called by housekeeping and then nothing.....we kind of laughed it off and told the girls it was gone, but on day 4 at 6:00 A.M. it greeted my 4 year old dd coming out of the bathroom. MY DH took it out of the room and we never saw it again. We made it a big joke but it really bothers me that Disney didn't even try to remove it, move us, or do something.

We had a great vacation, but the lizard seems to be what the girls are talking about. .."and we had a pet lizard.."

I can't quite wrap my mind around the fact that animal control was called for a lizard!:rotfl2: Sorry, but they probably thought you were a little nuts, as the lizards are all over the place in Florida. As someone else said, it is like calling animal control because you had a spider in your room. Seriously, they have bigger animals to worry about that those poor little lizzards.

Does anyone else recall reading something about a snake at WL a while back? After that thread I was glad I always stay on the top floor. Please don't tell me that snakes can climb, I really hate snakes. :scared1:

We were just at the YC in June 2007 and while I was walking down the sidewalk a snake was coming towards me. I am not afraid of snakes so it did not bother me but there were two little girls coming behind me so I tried to get it to go in the grassy area. I thought they would be scared. No not them but my DS12 would not go near it. :lmao: Go Figure.

I would much rather have a lizard or snake (not the poisonous kind) in my room than a spider. I just hate spiders... :(

I so agree with this. Deathly afraid of spiders. Give me a lizard or snake any day.

When we were at CBR, there was a frog trying to get into someone's room. It kept going up to the door and hopping off it. I looked like it was trying to knock the door down.:rotfl:

If there was a lizard in my room, my kids woud have loved it. We don't see things like that running around here in the city. Well, actually, I had an opposum in my garbage can once, but that was a fluke. :lmao:

I would have welcomed the little guy since they eat spiders. :) I think the only one in my family that would have been bugged by the lizard would have been DH. And it really doesn't matter what floor you are one since they can climb and do.

:lmao: My kids would have caught the fellow named him Mickey and brought him home. We are in South Al so we have lots of lizard friends :cutie: . They are not allowed inside but they sometimes find a way in and we catch them and put them back outside where they can find food.

We also get slimy green tree frogs usually hanging out on the front door under the porch light catching dinner. A few have hopped in by mistake when we open the door and they are a pain to catch! Then in the middle of the night there is a lost frog croaking up a storm from under the couch!!!!!! :scared1:

....Please give me the silent little lizard any day.

It is funny how kids fixate on one little detail! You just spent a whole lot of cash to visit WDW and the biggest impression was left by a "free" lizard!

I used to have a pet lizard, but that doesn't mean I'd want one running around my room! Ick. What if he climbed in bed or I squished him or something. Ewww. Yes, perhaps he would be better than a giant roach ... but neither would be particularly welcome in my hotel room!:)

Those little 'lizards' in Florida are just a fact of living down there. :goodvibes Even when I lived in Orlando and they did scamper in I just chased it right back out. This happened once during our stay at the Poly in August. The kids were fascinated by it (they liked the lizard--hated the squaking ducks) and even helped me catch it and put it back outside.

I have to share our lizard story!!! :upsidedow
Several trips back, I think DS was in first grade, we found a lizard in the room on day one. We kept coming across him throughout our stay. Gave me the heebie jeebies, but I did't fixate on it.
Fast forward to our departure day. We were sitting at our gate in the airport. Just sitting at waiting. I looked down at our carry-on back pack and there was the lizard!!!! Ewwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: DH chased it around a while and set him free out of sight. I'd hate to force him to relocate from Florida to Arkansas!

My DS earns $1 for every lizard that he catches in the house and puts outside. I think he purposely leaves the french doors open so that they come in!!

EEEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!! All this talk about lizards and snakes are giving me goosebumps!!!!!

I think I would rather have a lizard than a snake, but either would be gross.

Lizards in Florida just find their way in - under doors, through open doors, wherever there's a space. They really won't hurt you, and I've never had one run across me while I was sleeping when one would get inside. My sister was always good at catching them, but I'm pretty much hopeless. They always get away!

Last summer, when it was so dry here, a young lizard came in our house and lived in our shower for a while. I tried catching it, but there were just too many hiding places in a bathroom, and he was a quick little thing. I took a shower every morning for about three weeks with that lizard sitting there and enjoying the water. We finally got him and put him back outside, and I have to say I kind of missed watching for him every morning.

But I do have to say I would probably call housekeeping or maintenance if I saw roaches or palmetto bugs in the room. Spiders I can usually take care of myself, but roaches, yuck!
