Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

How are you all getting to the port? Right now we have a mini van rented and I think we got a good rate. (So good that it would cost us more to do the rental return thing in PC.) I would just like to hear what you guys are doing.

We have such a good rate on a mini van that we could not pass it up. We are renting from Enterprise with our corporate rate and with taxes it is $56 each way with unlimited mileage. We have never had any problem getting to WDW after a cruise before 10 or 10:30 so to the airport should not be an issue.

Hi Everyone! We finally made it to WDW! I'm now on a weak signal typing quickly so I don't get disconnected.

Virginia, thanks again for keeping the main FE List! I will need it when we get back to update my FE speadsheet! SOunds like others have done the same thing. Packaged about 80 yesterday at Mouse Beach... about 200 to go! HA!

David, good to hear from you. So sorry about your loss. You've had a lot to deal with these past weeks.

Tracy, ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!

Linda! THanks for the call yesterday. We enjoyed touring Vero BEach Resort. Can't wait to do the scrapbook Project you have planned! It sounds GREAT!

TOday, it's off to AK... Yak + Yeti, and the Supremes in EPCOT.

Good morning!
Georgie-Wish we were there. Have a great time- I assume you are at Mouse Beach?

David-I hope everyone is feeling well. Happy to see that you will be cruising. Have a safe trip across the pond.

Just curious-maybe Tracy, you or soemone else may know the answer.

What happens if one person in my cabin does not come. DH may not be able to make the trip. We are in a Cat. 4, which is a room for 5. I did split DVC points and cash to pay for the cruise. If he does not come, do we still stay in the same cabin, which has been assigned already. If so, do I get refunded for his portion (actually it would be a child's portion because the first 2 are adults)

What if I do not know until day of or day befroe cruise-can I go to port and say-"he is not coming?" Will that be a problem?

Thanks.

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer when using DVC points. I would recommend calling Member Services tomorrow and asking them about both scenarios. As far as the room, they will keep you where you are at more than likely because the ship is sold out. If you don't know until the day before the cruise, I think you will be out all money & points paid, but again, I don't know how the points work with the cruise so you'll have to check.

Good Morning All.
Knew the thread had moved(thanks Kid), but the thread has been busy. Need to catch up.

Just a wonderful morning here. 60° a few clouds and no rain in sight.
Finished breakfast. Nope not Cracker Barrel, I did it.
Finished Belle's sunday walk. :dogdance:
A little soak out back and now it is web time.:surfweb:

Been a busy week. Summer is flying by.
We went to the Indiana State Fair thursday.
Had some "healthfood":lmao:

Yum.
Bad thing was it was indiana university day. Purdue day is this week, but we will be busy that day.

:sad2: :sad1: The mad dash is on at boarding time...run, run run!  :scared1: really, I am okay with just the dinner ressie and my chocolate souffle...but man that brunch would be a nice addition!

I am kind of old and slow, but I will be in that mad dash to get either a dinner or brunch as I haven't been successful in getting either so far . I have read that if I don't get either that we can go to the bar at Palo and order the infamous souffle so many rave about, and maybe that will have to do.

One more question--since the ship is sold out, does that mean that cabin assignments will probably not be changed? I really wanted to incorporate our cabin no. on our door signs, to avoid them "walking off" but just knew that if I did, that we would get moved. Should I feel pretty confident now to go ahead and add those cabin numbers?

I think the points would go into a holding account. I was under the impression that once you use them for one of the adventure collection (cruise) they cannot be used for anything else and you lose the $95 fee associated with it. Also, someone correct me if wrong, the new cancellation policy goes into effect on 8/31. If you get to the port and cancel his reservation there, the new policy will be in effect. There is a point of no return on cash reservations. I just can't remember what it is but as we get closer, it is less and less likely that you will get much if any of that money back.

I didn't know you could go to the bar and get a chocolate soufle! That makes me feel a little better about not getting that ressie at Palo! We are going to try when we get there but not optimistic.

Gonna leave the rental car as is. When I looked at it, we really would only be saving the parking and Laxdad says for that amount, he would rather have the convenience. It was a good thought!

We have never had one of our cabin numbers changed when we selected it at booking. I would think you are pretty safe at this point but maybe a more experienced cruiser can answer. BTW, we've also never had a magnet walk off. A little concerned about our FE though! They are just so cute!

Based on the numbers below, we have 3 weeks, folks, only 3 weeks, so much to do and so little time...

Laxmom...you need a FE lock!!!! Just bring a zip tie with you and secure your fish extender to the fish using the zip tie....don't forget nail clippers or some small scissors to remove it at the end of the cruise.

Yep! That is the plan. I did have a dream that I forgot something to cut them down with!!:lmao: In that dream we were at Atlantis but my boss was there!!! DOH!!! It was weird!

PDF sounds KEWL will there be a link? , I prob missed that,

Georgie, have a fun day.

Lynn is driving home and I am at DEN, off to DFW.

WOW this thread is busy, might be tough to keep up.

WOO HOO!:cool1:  :yay:

No, I didn't get my docs, but even better I was given my official notification at work and that means I retire next Thursday!!!! Going out with a great package, too! I am so excited! And what a way to celebrate - a DCL cruise with my DIS friends!
Scott H said:
Yes congrats, a few months for me but I know I will not get a package.

You are too young to retire.

Congratulations Janis. Are we going to celebrate on board?

I have about 4 more years give or take.
Too many vacations to do.
Kinda....."There's just too much to see waiting in front of me"

Not a buyout package, but part of the benifet package. Insurance, pension and such.:thumbsup2

Had to go back 20 pages.:scared1:
I will probably go back thru this part again just to make sure.

No docs yet. The UPS page did not work for me.
We did points. Maybe that makes a difference.

Will remember the grass skirt....in the carry on this time.

No Peter, no scrapbook this time. Maybe next.

Will try to remember the wine.

Josh Who?:confused3

Buddy-Looking good! :dogdance:

We are flying in the day of arriving at 10:30
AKV after the cruise for a couple of days.

Scott-congratulations on the running.
I haven't done any this year. Knees and ankle problems.
Also had a friend watch my stride. He is one of those running guys that looks anorexic on his good days. Anyway, my foot does not hit square, I wear the wrong shoes, ect. So I have a ways to go.

I am looking forward to putting names w/faces and grass skirts!
Don't remember who these guys were from the PC Repo. :lmao:

I'm counting 13 on Peter's list doing back to back. Maybe 15-20?

Thanks!

20 it is! Just in case there are cabin assignment changes, I have a couple of back up plans in mind. As we get closer to sail date I have more information.
