Spam sales up on BUDGET concerns?

My late DH used to LOVE Spam! I could tolerate it, but it wasn't something I was particularly fond of.. I'm surprised to hear how expensive it is now..:confused3

We love Spam, don't eat it very often but I do have a couple cans on hand now. We fry it up with eggs and toast, yummy!!!

I had a coupon for a free single serve packet of SPAM and bought it last month (well, got it for free).

I got one of those coupons too & got it to send with DS on camping trips just in case. It always comes back with him. Guess he hasn't gotten that hungry yet! ;)

Ewww.

But DH and DS's love it so I buy it once in a great while. I know its under $2 here...

And stretches over 2 meals.

i live in florida and spam is a good thing to buy for your storm supply kits...

Spam......brings back memories......felt like we were force fed that stuff as kids.....
Dad loved it as a sandwich on buttered white bread.....YUCK!!!!

Mom liked with baked beans or pork and beans....
I like it even now cooked with a can of baked beans, but I first fry up the spam and then add in the beans... Like a PP stated, to me it is a comfort food....

My girls have to be VERY hungry before they will eat it and one of them will not even smell it, let alone eat it.....

Spam...MMMM! Treat...EWWW!

I guess it just depends how you were raised. I always liked it but didn't have it often...married a guy who grew up on Spam and eggs for breakfast so I adjusted. And it really is good fried! Now, as I recall, they used to picture it "scored" in diamond shapes on the top with cloves in the center of each diamond like a ham...never could do that, myself!

We ate WAY too much Spam while DH was in med school. It was dirt cheap back then, along with Kraft mac & cheese and tuna noodle casserole. We still eat the mac & cheese, but I'd just as soon never have to eat the other two again. Ever.

We make fried rice with it too. Cube it and fry it til the edges are crispy, then we mix in with white rice (the good Nishiki or Botan rice, not Minute Rice!), green onions, eggs, and soy sauce. We use the Spam that is lower in fat....still not healthy by any stretch but it's better. Yum. DH's mom was Japanese and she made this a lot when he was growing up.
