We are going to be at Magic Kingdom on Nov 2nd, and in the Melbourne area over Halloween weekend...planning to spend the day at the beach on the 1st so we have a great view of the launch! I can't wait...its been years since I have seen one!
I saw that one from my front yard in Bradenton. (Okay - the shuttle was tiny but you could see it.) I watched it on TV & then ran outside to view it. I was crying and shouting "There he goes! God bless you. God's speed," to no one but myself. It was a very emotional launch for me because I have vivid memories of John Glenn going into space back in 1962 as the first American to orbit the earth. We all gathered around the TV to watch it. After that day our local ABC affiliate in Buffalo, Channel 7, launched their morning children's show named: "Rocketship 7", after John Glenn's capsule, Friendship 7.Ho hum, another shuttle launch. What's on TV? Just kidding. I make a point of watching all the shuttle launches. I'm lucky to have seen most of them from my front yard. The best one though was when John Glenn went up. I was working at the GF at the time and the whole place shut down. We all went out by the lake and watched it go up. It was a mild, sunny, clear day and hundreds, if not thousands, of guests and CMs were out there watching it. What a memory.
Have ressies at Cali Grill that evening - will they let us up there early to see the launch, or will we need to see it from the beach?
I don't have the time to go out to Tallahassee, or I would![]()
NASA has given official approval to launch on Monday Nov 1ST at 4:40 EDT. So I guess we will be at the Fort Friday!
I believe that STS-133 has been pushed back to Nov. 2nd 4:17pm, subject to change.
