Space shuttle launch

NASA had their flight readiness meeting on the 28th and confirmed STS135 is go for launch Friday July 8th. We will be down there but at AKV because I could only get Friday off, not Sat or Sunday. We couldn't justify taking the MBPS 1000 miles round trip for 1 day. So lets hope it goes on Friday.:thumbsup2

Doombuggy, US TOO! We'll be at AKV Thursday - Sunday, but I hope to spend the remaining days at the parks but built in a few days for delays if necessary.

Well the weather right now is not looking good for next weekend but that can change on a daily basis. If Atlantis does not launch by Sunday the window does not open back up until the 13th or 16th.

Is it a GO for today? If so, Anyone gonna take pictures ?

Now GO. Weather no longer a constraint. Godspeed Atlantis.

Well I missed it :confused3, I chose to cancel my leave because the weather was horrible. The forcast was getting worse the closer it got. O well. They took to many risks with this launch to me the lightning strikes were to close:scared1: to the shuttle the night before they undoubtably needed the shuttle to go yesterday. Godspeed Atlantis and come home safely.:thumbsup2

We left WDW at 3:15 am and drove to our favorite spot in Titusville. It was definitely the most crowded launch I'd been at by far. Had a perfect unobstructed view of the launch than ran like maniacs back to the car, took the back streets and popped onto the freeway heading north on 95 for our return to SC---missed ALL traffic this way (and yay to my dh for his routing!!).

Go Atlantis!!! Such a beautiful sight. My first shuttle lauch was STS-124 and I've managed to make all of them--except for one--since then. I will miss them. A couple of nights before the launch I stood in the center of Epcot's Furture World and watched the ISS orbit by, thinking about the shuttle astronauts.

Glad to be a part of it all one last time.......

I was disappointed that it was cloudy. I was hoping to watch from St. Pete. If they land in Florida, then we will get to here the double sonic boom as they come in. :thumbsup2
