Hi everyone.
I want to post a link to a serious topic for a moment. It is a story of a girl who committed suicide after being bullied and tormented.
I guess it hits home for me because I had an older friend in HS whose son, age 24, committed suicide after being harassed due to a lisp his whole life even into adulthood.

This is about children being beyond cruel and we have all witnessed this in our own lives to some degree. Whether it is through our experiences or our children.
In fact, I know many adults who are still bullies.
We all know people who are like this.
People who have never left high school behind and find amusement in passing gossip and seem to think they are judge, jury and executioner.
Those people are at our work, in our families, neighborhoods, churches and even here on the Dis.
I hope that this link helps us talk to our kids about the power of their words, responsibility in them and the fact that there is no reason to find entertainment value in persecuting someone.
I hope it also makes us adults, look at our own lives and know that we have choices on how we treat others. What we do with gossip when we hear it. Why we make light of things beyond someones control.
Why any of us would find joy in sabotaging others happiness.
That nobody is better than someone else and it is not your right to point out flaws, foibles or shortcomings in other people.
We all joke and tease but many kids and adults go past that.
To stalk and harass and gossip about someone to the point of them killing themselves is deplorable.
Whether it is done by kids or adults, I hope many of us can band together to try and stop bullying.
Influence who is in your reach.
Teach dignity and respect.
And most of all, be kind to who you perceive to be your enemy.
You never know all the details of their life. You never know what they have gone through.
What you do know is your intentions and if it isn't grace, maybe you need to look in a mirror.
I felt saddened for this girl, her life and her families loss.
I also felt sad for the next Phoebe because there will be one if things do not change.
We all have an ability/responsibility to make sure that does not happen.
