Hi all! I am considering flying out of Midway on SW air. I would like all your opinions on this airline since I have never have used them. I checked there web site and was quoted 813.20 for the four of us that will be flying. Is that to high a price do you think? I always thought that they were much cheaper. Do you think prices will come down at all? Thanks for your input! :hippie:

That's only about $200/pp roundtrip, which I don't think is bad at all. I just booked on Southwest from NH to Orlando on the day fares were released and I'my paying $155/pp roundtrip. Depending on when you're going you might find airfare contines to increase. Anytime I can get roundtrip air for $200/pp (or less) I think its a bargain.

$200 is probably better than any other airline will do.

I *like* Southwest, even their quirky boarding procedures and (lack of) seat assignment. If I have a choice of airlines to a destination I usually choose SW.

Check back with SW occasionally, they may drop the fare and they are real good about crediting you with the difference.

So what you are saying is that if I book now and the price goes down they will credit me the difference?

We always use SWA and love them :) Prices have seemed higher in that past couple of years, but I think that the times are changing :( You can always get a credit if the prices go down. I think that price sounds decent for 4 people. Also, have you dl'd DING? I always see great deals from Midway to MCO! :)

Yes, they do. But, I have never tried to get them to put it back on my CC. I have heard of others here who have tho. I usually take at least 2 trips per year, so I just use the credit for the next time I fly.

Make sure to download DING and check it often. I was getting a little nervous about our March trip, when lo and behold I got a ding for roundtrip from ST louis to MCO for $165 per person!!!!
If you feel safer, buy the tickets now; then if you get a ding, rebook and keep the credit to use at another time. Good luck!

We have used SWA all but once on our flights from St Louis. We love it, they are usually cheaper, simple-yet reliable, on time if not early, efficient, and friendly. My sil, who always goes with us to Disney, was very leary of SWA, she does NOT like not knowing her seat assignment (she doesn't want to sit with strangers basically) and she was very pleased. She even had a whole row to herself on our return flight and was able to lay down and nap. Chickie-nice to see another local:) Have Fun!-Rebecca

We only fly SWA. I love that they are always on time and we usually get into MCO earlier than planned with tailwinds. The staff is generally very good and the fares are usually cheaper than anything else I can get around here. They also offer non-stop flights which I like. I don't want to lay over in another airport with 3 kids. It's a pain. With SW, I don't have to. I was thrilled to see they brought out their schedule for August already.

It's great that you have had good experiences with SWA, but no airline is always on time, and SWA airlines doesn't even have the best on time record.

In 2006, SWA had an on time arrival rate of 80.23%; 18.79% of flights had a delayed arrival.

They had an on time departure rate of 77.42%; 21.76% of their flights had a departure delay.

To compare, in 2006, many other US other airlines had better on time statistics.

I have never had a problem with them. Stats or not, they have always been on time when I fly them and that is really all I care about - all the stats in the world can't change that!

I have already booked a flight to Orlando from BWI 6/25

I am keeping an eye out to see it the SW fares go down.

To get a credit back on a fare you already booked....Do you have to find a lower fare on the exact same flight/time or just a lower flight that same day???
Hopefully that makes sense...:goodvibes
