My wife and I just made the drive from SE Michigan to Hilton Head. South bound I 75 at the Kentucky/Tennessee border is closed for a lengthy stretch. We avoided that portion and created our own detour. I talked to a sheriff who could not tell me how long the closure would last.

Crews are at work repairing a landslide near mile marker 143. A second "slide within the slide" occurred on Monday, disrupting the already limited flow of traffic for which crossover lanes had been constructed following the original slide
Both southbound lanes and one northbound lane of a portion of Interstate 75 in Campbell County will remain closed until May 21, read more here

WOW...our alternate route takes us through this area, so I had been following what was going on with the closure. We're just lucky that we don't need to go that way. I just saw a picture of the "slide" for the first time. That is not a rock slide. That is a complete collapse. We got caught up in a rock slide closure a few years ago in North Carolina(?). That was some rocks coming down onto the road. This is a case of the road itself collapsing down the mountain. What a mess.
