Sorry guys, can't hold it in anymore, need to vent...ugh

In my TR I mentioned that I had "wedding crashers" who came to all of my scheduled family events. My mother arrived at all the restaurants early and added them at the last minute to our ADR. She seemed to have no trouble adding people when we arrived so maybe you could try that??

Also, what worked for me was constantly putting the people count blame on Disney. Now, I don't like anyone to get a bad impression of Disney but it really worked great. I can't tell you how many times I said "Disney is so strict about your guest count! I wish I could invite you!"

Hey, I remember reading that on your report and feeling so bad for you!

So, I'm okay now- you guys are amazing!!!

I think I should tell you all that my drama just escalated after my
MAJOR BLONDE MOMENT THIS MORNING:

I was running to work and in the concourse level of my building(underground here in NY)

Anyway, there’s an area with glass doors that I usually get by, and usually one of the doors is open, unfortunately, this morning all of them were closed.

Since I was in a rush, I didn’t realize all the doors were closed, and I ran right into the glass, nose first! IT HURT LIKE A MOTHER!!!!!

I made a loud noise and stopped, I seriously thought I was going to pass out. Clutched over in the corner I grabbed my nose and blood was coming out. I had no napkins or anything, so I ran to Dunkin Donuts to get a napkin. SO embarrassing!!! I put ice on it all morning. I looked like a retard. It didn’t stop bleeding until 10am this morning. My nose still hurts, WAAAAAAAAAAAA!

...you all are the best, i feel much calmer right now:grouphug: (I hope my nose doesn't go crazy on me, noooooooooooooooooo...!)

Awww, poor thing!

Just think, tomorrow *has* to be better, right?

I hope you will get to the point where you can just sit back and laugh at people! It's no fun to spend all this time stressing about wedding stuff. If there's one thing I can guarantee it's that people are going to do and say stupid stuff about your wedding! It will sometimes be the people you least suspect too!

Yes, I'm going to look like Gonzo from the muppet babies tomorrow morning.

Oh Absolutely! I hope to laugh it all off one day!

I hate to be a negative nellie here (is that even an expression?) but what time is your family scheduled to arrive on Monday? I have experienced so many problems with flying that I'm not sure I would schedule any kind of event that day. Maybe it's not so bad to try to schedule something on one of the other days. Just because people "want" to spend Tuesday and Wednesday in the parks doesn't mean they can't spend an evening doing a family dinner.

Our wedding was on a Monday. Most of our guests came in on Saturday. We had a welcome event on Sunday morning and then let everyone go to have fun for the day. However, my immediate family was to have dinner with DH's immediate family that night. So my brother and sister (who was home on R&R from Iraq) were only able to be in the parks until 5 pm that day and they didn't complain. I think in this situation if you tell someone "be here at this time" they will listen, no?

I would recommend finding out if you can get a table for 20 at a normal time on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and see what you can get. But don't count on making an ADR for 15 and having them accommodate 20. I had a ressie for 10 and they couldn't accommodate 11. And that was at JIKO.

Oh and sorry your dad is causing problems about your sis missing school... if it makes you feel any better, CERTAIN PEOPLE (who shall remain nameless) made a big deal about even having to travel on a WEEKEND during the semester.

Wow, Abby...you have had quite a day!! I am so sorry for all the drama you are having to endure (and we all have a bit that so we can sympathize!)...and the nosebleed...ugh! Icing on the the already ugly cake you were dealing with. Please know that everything will work out...and in the end, none of this stuff will be that important. You are marrying the love of your life! Abby...you are one of the most supportive and encouraging women on this board and for that...I offer you endless  and all my support...not to mention a shoulder to cry on any time you need it!!!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Kona doesn't have anything for 20 people until 9pm.

I am still planning to ask if we can sqweeze 5 more in at Ohana's when we get there, maybe something might open up:confused3

I would even try showing up around 7 (gives plenty of time incase it doesn't work) with your 20 party and saying "But we MADE the reservation for 20" and let them think it was their mistake. Sneaky..I know..but I used to be in Disney dining, it works lol. Disney is so guest-oriented they will more than likely find four extra chairs. If it doesnt work, you have the back up reservation at Kona's. Or is it possible to make a ADR for Ohana's for her family any time around your ADR?

Hey AbbyPan! I hope your nose is better today. That sucks so bad! I'm sorry!!

Have you thought about doing a breakfast maybe instead of dinner? You could do it early so people could still spend all day in the parks and then you could have everyone together instead of split up. I think someone mentioned this in a previous post and it's a great idea. I'm doing a breakfast for those exact reasons a couple days after the wedding.

Good luck with whatever happens!

PS the previous post was right...Disney is VERY guest service oriented and if you make a big enough fuss they might squeeze people in. We dont like "scenes" here at Disney. Hahaha. GL!

HI ladies! you guys are so super cool!!! (LAURA,DIANE, MARCY, MICHELLE, CORI, & MEG, APrincess72, HOLLY, DisBride07, Purplegirl, & Gillian-Thank you! hope I didn't leave anyone out, sorry! )

Well, I woke up this morning and my nose feels like it was brutally attacked. It hurt so bad, although not as much now. The funny thing is that I walked by the "scene of the crime" this morning and on the glass is still the mark of my face when it rammed into it- just thought that was amusing...

Anyhoowee, I a made a ressie for 16 @ Ohana's for 7:30pm (my dad gets in at 6pm- but who knows if that will be on time like DisBride2007 said). I am still going to try and call the restaurant directly and request a cake;) (thanks Michelle) and slighly ask if availability has opened up for 20 around 7:30pm for Ohana's or Kona's. But I haven't thrown out the breakfast idea (thanks Marcy & Laura), still gonna think about it....

My sister sent me this (below)today, has anyone read this? I thought I should post it just in case (I think it might be from All Ears):

Jean comments: If you are going to Disney to celebrate a wedding, I have some suggestions of what to bring from home. I was told to bring white chalk just in case the bride's dress gets [dirtied] by the seagulls. (It happened to my niece at a beach wedding.) My daughter-in-law used the chalk when something spilled on her dress, but other options include Wite-Out or a Tide to Go pen. Another good idea is to pack a needle and thread in case buttons are loose on tuxes, etc.

Q.o.t.W. writes: Watch the fireworks from Tomorrowland Transit Authority in the Magic Kingdom. It is a great view, plus they will often let you ride it around as many times as you want. This is especially good for people who do not like the noise the fireworks make -- you can't hear a thing!

Denise Barry advises: When packing your suitcase, include in it a dryer sheet or two! It makes your suitcase and clothes smell fresh during your time away from home, and it keeps the static down from the dryness of the flight. You could also use them at the coin laundry at the resorts.

Erin writes: If you're arriving at the airport on a flight any later than 8 p.m. and are using the Magical Express, be sure to pack your supplies for both that night AND the next morning in your carry-on. Any luggage arriving at the hotel after midnight (which it probably will) won't be delivered until the next day. If you want to head out to the parks early the next morning, you won't want to wait around for Bell Services to bring your luggage! (EDITOR'S NOTE: Don't forget that you also have the option of retrieving your luggage and bringing it onto the Magical Express shuttle yourself!)

There is a new "Cake Hotline" for guests who want to request to have a special, personalized cake for various celebrations at most table service dining locations. The Cake Hotline number is 407-827-2253 and requires 48 hours notice. Guests may also request a 6-inch cake (non-personalized) upon arrival at the podium of restaurant for $12.50 + tax (no advance notice required).

... from Nic Butterworth: I'm currently visiting Disney's Polynesian Resort, and have noticed that the resort mug program has changed! It no longer offers specific hotel mugs, but rather a general mug available from every resort with the year marked on it. (Some resorts seem to still offer their individual mugs, presumably until these run out.) This seems quite disappointing as I found it quite a souvenir to collect mugs from each resort as I stayed there. It does have the upside, however, that you could use your mug at any resort during the year purchased because they're the same wherever purchased!

Those are some really good tips :goodvibes

I'm so sorry to hear about all the problems your family is causing, i'm not looking forward to having to deal with these problems myself once our wedding gets closer...
I agree with the people who suggested trying a breakfast on another day. If your family is really wanting to spend all the days the parks then this would at least let you have a meal together without intruding too much on their park time. Although in my opinion I like to have a break mid-day to relax so usually we eat our sit down meal in the afternoon so maybe that would be an option as well. I hope everything works out for you, but no matter what, it'll be an amazing day you'll remember forever!
