Sorry Gaston, They are MUCH More Interesting Than You!*6/8* NEW Trip Report Link p154

I am in awe of that view! Absolutely to die for!!!

Mary Ellen, I am sorry that your ibs acted up and you ended up missing part of illuminations. It isn't fun missing something, but I think there is consolation to be found in knowing it won't be your last chance to view it..and that there were previous views.

Congrats to Nick on being able to go to college with minimal student loans! That is a very hard thing to do these days.

Cynthia, I love your trek around WS and all the shirts. I had to click on the "bad picture" to see the "bad video. :rotfl2: I find it funny the performers funny for that concert series... Once upon a time they were somebody...once. :rotfl:

Love the EE photo... weird that thing 1, 2, 3 and 4 escaped and came to the superior park...

Love all of your AK scenery shots! The detail in that park really is amazing!!

I've never been on EE before (ride chicken here!), so I think looking at your photos from the front row is about as much as I can take of that ride!! :lmao:

Cool view of Epcot from the top!!

Wow, good thing you found some space on that bus. Looks like a tight squeeze. :lmao:
Also love that Seriously empty Single Rider Line! I'd jump right in that too!
Johnny loves taking his waterproof camera on kali, just because he can. It's kind of a fun thing to have!
Wonder if that butterfly was just cold since it was early in the morning. You know how they can be slow moving in the cold? Or maybe just fearless!
Love the on-ride photos of EE! I feel like I'm there now! pixiedust:

Love the start to your morning at AK! It is such a fun park to photograph- so many awesome details.

I just love taking pictures in the AK. I feel like I have so many now, but it doesn't stop me from adding more. That's why I need a waterproof camera to try pics on Kali. I'm going to check into getting a disposable one, although it might make more sense just to get a regular one.

I adore all of your EE photos! Great call on front row. I haven't even noticed that mural of the Yeti in the cave, tunnel. You got a great picture!

I just kept snapping away, so I lucked out on getting that pic! I'm thrilled it turned out.

I just love the front row and since so many people don't realize there is a queue for it, its silly not to take advantage of it.

I also LOVE your ride photo! The two of you look great, and "The Things" are cool too.

I look like I am stressing over holding on to my camera. I cracked a lens cap on that ride and another time my lens (long lens) took a hard wack against the lap bar.

Great update and pix Mary Ellen !!I was even scared looking at your pix of the top of the ride !!!:rotfl2:The theming at AK is so cool!! The girls always ride EE but not me !!!!!

:rotfl2: EE is such a great ride. I love it and its so much better in the front row! You can see how hard it is to hold on to that camera going down hill. Wooooooh! :rotfl:

Looks like your day was off to a wonderful start! I love all the AK pictures. That park is so beautiful :)

We did get another nice start. I agree - the park is gorgeous. Can you imagine not having a camera during an AK visit? That would be painful!

Early morning at AK...love it! It's tough sometimes with sun but so worth it! I don't think we've ever ridden EE in the afternoon:rotfl2: always first thing in the morning!

EE should ALWAYS be first in the morning OR late at night, IMHO! I love the adrenaline rush in the morning. Almost as good as coffee! So much fun! I think because it was October, the sun was just weird every morning - low in the sky and reflecting off everything.

Love the pics while you're on the ride, they are fantastic!

Thanks! I try to get pics every time I do the front row. But at least I know now to use the small lens (after a couple mishaps with the long lens).

A nice way to start a Sunday. Nothing beats the blood pumping EE for a start to a "wild " time. :lmao:

You are SO right! That adrenaline rush makes the ride!

Great update! :D

Thanks wiigirl! It was fun getting out "ride on" first thing in the morning. I just love EE!

Great EE ride pics MEK! I've always wanted to try that but I have yet to figure out how to take pics on a ride with no hands...mine are usually white-knuckled around the lap restraint! :lmao:

It's actually fairly easy to get pictures in the beginning of the ride. Once you see the shadow yeti, then its best to just put the camera down on your lap and HOLD ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Great update, MEK. I LOVE the Animal Kingdom first thing in the morning when everything is coming alive. It's such a beautiful park, and the detail is amazing.

Thanks and I couldn't agree more. I just love that park and I especially love visiting it in the cooler weather. It makes it that much easier to take all the detail in and process it. Sometimes its a struggle in the heat with the crowds, but its still a place that can just pull you in no matter what the weather.

Although I don't ride EE, I would guess the front row is the best as far as getting a great view of things all around you...and in front of you. ;)

The front row is really amazing. I feel like I have to do the front row at least once every trip. It's THAT good!

Great photopass of you and Cynthia.

Thanks!

i love that outfit in the yeti store ,I want to buy that for my boo I hope they have it in her size

That outfit is absolutely adorable! So, so cute!

Aww, this day was my birthday! Special.

Really? Both Nick and Denny have October b-days. Great month! ;)

I swear, I've had the goal to ride EE in the front for years now and it STILL has not happened! I don't even care, next time I WILL DO IT

Definitely do it! You will love it and you generally don't have to wait very long in the front row line. I swear that 75% of the visitors don't even know its there or they are traveling in large groups making it impractical. I want to take my nephew to the front row this summer.

Your pictures are amazing!! Looks so fun! I just love DAK.

Thank you! I love taking pictures from the front row because I think it really captures the essence of the ride!

Great update, I love AK, so many cool Photo ops.

I agree. It really is the best park for unique photos, IMHO!

I don't think I could handle front row on EE. I really wanted to go on it last trip and I finally was able to go but it is a LOT faster than I thought it would be, it was fun but I definitely wouldn't go by myself so it will be a while before I go again since it's looking like next trip will be with just me and DH, maybe with my BFF and neither of them have any desire to ride.

I have found that when a coaster is more intense than I expected I do best when I close my eyes. Working up to the front row does need you to be comfortable with the ride in general. I hope you do find someone to ride with next trip. You may find its an easier ride than you remember.

:thumbsup2 Great update and awesome photos, Mary Ellen! AK can be so awesome when it is not too hot. ;)

Thanks and I agree - when its hot AK can start to get annoying, but in the nice weather I feel like I could just live there. :thumbsup2

And EE in the front row is a MUST!!!! Best seat in the house, you cannot beat the view. :cloud9:

So, so true! This summer I am going to take my nephew to the front row. No one else in his family will ride and he has never done front row. I think its time!!!!!

Wow - I am so impressed at the pictures you take while hurtling up and down Mt. Everest! I really want to ride it but am a bit, shall we say, apprehensive?! Okay, it is SOO high up! It's scary! I would have the camera safely stashed away so I can grip the bar with all my strength!

You really should try it! Use my trick - keep your eyes closed during the scary parts. That's how I started riding coasters. It's so much less intense with your eyes shut. Then you gradually open your eyes up and look around. I think the only weird part is the backwards part. It's best if you sit near the front or middle. Definitely most intense in the back.

But you are right - for taking photos, AK is the best! SO much to see there! And then there's the animals!

Yes - then there's the animals as in the elusive lion which I can never get a picture of. :rotfl2:

Hope Nick manages to figure out where to go to school. It's tough - I remember getting a migraine trying to decide between my last two. I've never had a migraine in my life other than that time.

Well, I think I'm the one with the migraine right now. :rotfl2: I just really want him to decide. It's down to the three most economical schools, but I can't really tell which direction he is heading. It's frustrating.

When you get there, you'll have to say hi to Matt and Gaby at HHI for me (they are in the activities area/lifeguard) We loved them - Gaby's from my town!

It really is a small world, isn't it? And I certainly will!

I always love seeing pictures of Animal Kingdom. We were over there three times, I think, on this trip; maybe four. I walked through Pangani twice and saw no meerkats either time and only two gorillas. I was calling it No Animal Kingdom for a while! :upsidedow

Really? That's so odd. Normally meerkats invade the place and gorillas are all over. Wonder what was up with that? How wonderful that you got to visit so much, but bummer on the lack of animals.

Will the real Yeti ever rise again? Since Everest is still drawing a huge crowd just with what they've got, I'm going to go with no.

I'm going with NO too! Too bad because it just adds to the wonderful theming that is Disney. It's sort of the icing on the cake. It doesn't take away from the adrenaline rush, but it does take away from the immersive experience.

Great update, I love AK in the morning when it's not crowded! It's such a pretty park to take pictures of, especially Asia, I love that area! :lovestruc

I agree - Asia is amazing. I just love, love, LOVE all the detail. It's wonderful to be back there first thing in the morning!

Yay, EE! Usually Brandon and I always request the front row, you might have to wait a bit longer, but it's so worth it! I didn't get to do the front row with my sister and Caitlin, so I'll definitely have to make up for it in December! :cool1:

It is SO worth the extra wait. I'm definitely going to take my nephew on the front row this summer. I think he will love it!

I am in awe of that view! Absolutely to die for!!!

You know I am a resort changer - I love trying different resorts. It's so awesome. But that is a room I could stay in EVERY SINGLE TIME! I just thought the view was that perfect!

Mary Ellen, I am sorry that your ibs acted up and you ended up missing part of illuminations. It isn't fun missing something, but I think there is consolation to be found in knowing it won't be your last chance to view it..and that there were previous views.

If that had been my one and only time to see Illuminations it would have totally been a bummer. But my trip to the BR just ended up being a minor inconvenience. It could have been a lot worse!

Congrats to Nick on being able to go to college with minimal student loans! That is a very hard thing to do these days.

I am proud of Nick for really considering the schools that are the most financially responsible although they don't necessarily have the same academic reputation. I think he's smart enough to know that any engineering degree he successfully completes will set him up for future success.

Cynthia, I love your trek around WS and all the shirts. I had to click on the "bad picture" to see the "bad video. :rotfl2: I find it funny the performers funny for that concert series... Once upon a time they were somebody...once. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I didn't watch the video. I guess I should. I do like when retired groups come back and play. Some are such good musicians that they can just pick up right where they left off 20 years ago.

Love the EE photo... weird that thing 1, 2, 3 and 4 escaped and came to the superior park...

Totally the superior park! :thumbsup2

Love all of your AK scenery shots! The detail in that park really is amazing!!

I know AK is far from your favorite park, but its hard not to appreciate all the detail. That's what I love about Disney. There are layers and layers of detail in everything they do.

I've never been on EE before (ride chicken here!), so I think looking at your photos from the front row is about as much as I can take of that ride!! :lmao:

:rotfl2: I'm not even going to try to talk you into trying EE. I know it will never happen. But I know what you mean - I have watched ride videos on youtube and thought - NO WAY am I ever going to ride THAT! :rotfl:

Cool view of Epcot from the top!!

It really is fun seeing that perspective! I love ariel views of the world!

Wow, good thing you found some space on that bus. Looks like a tight squeeze. :lmao:

I know, right? :rotfl: I was on the bus actually hopeful that no one would be at the park. Wishful thinking!

Also love that Seriously empty Single Rider Line! I'd jump right in that too!

I hesitated at first because I wasn't even sure if it was open! What a bonus. Walk on single rider line!

Johnny loves taking his waterproof camera on kali, just because he can. It's kind of a fun thing to have!

I do really want one and I should get one for the cruise in October. I'll have to look into it.

Wonder if that butterfly was just cold since it was early in the morning. You know how they can be slow moving in the cold? Or maybe just fearless!

I actually did NOT know that. He was moving very, very slow and at first I thought he might be dead. I'm sure it was cold more than fearless because it was a little chilly that morning.

Love the on-ride photos of EE! I feel like I'm there now! pixiedust:

I love taking pictures on that right. I have quite a few now. It would be fun to piece them all together and see exactly what parts I do and don't have.

Mary Ellen nothing could make EE a great ride for me !!!:rotfl2:I would need to be strapped in and knocked out !!:rotfl2:

Mary Ellen nothing could make EE a great ride for me !!!:rotfl2:I would need to be strapped in and knocked out !!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Well, I hope that NEVER happens to you Rosie! I know there are some people who just don't like coasters like that. Period. Like my SIL who actually tossed her cookies after last year's ride. :scared1:

Haha, I love your recap of EE; made me feel like I was back on it! If you already have and I'm just not remembering correctly, forgive me, but you need to go on EE at night. I'd kill to see some of your shots from the mountain when it's dark and lit up with purple lights. I bet they'd be fantastic.:thumbsup2

Front row is the best for that right. Not sure it beats front row on RNRC, but it's second in my book!

I think the sun glare is a common problem inside AK in the early morning. Guess we can thank all the foliage for that. :confused3

We actually FINALLY rode it at night last December (2011). Denny, Nick, and I waited around ALL day to ride it. I think I was so hyped up for it that the anticipation was better than the actual ride. Not that it wasn't wonderful and it was much more intense at night, but I think I expected more.

Front row is the best for that right. Not sure it beats front row on RNRC, but it's second in my book!

I think it does because on RnR there is still the car in front of you and its dark in there. To me front EE is just the best. Love it.

I think the sun glare is a common problem inside AK in the early morning. Guess we can thank all the foliage for that. :confused3

Yeah, when the sun is still low in the sky, like it tends to be in October, the glare is so annoying!

All caught up! I love the view from your room at BWV! We had a non-clown pool view in October but I think your non-clown pool view tops ours! Fantastic! :thumbsup2

MEK - Sorry about your tummy issues... I have similar issues & find that I have to watch what I eat at Disney. Once my stomach turns on me, it's grumpy for the rest of the vacation. I eat a lot of salads at home & have to seek them out at Disney in order to keep my system stable. I hope you didn't have any other issues.

Off to a fun start at AK! :goodvibes

Just catching up here! I am loving the FW pictures, it is so pretty. I love the story of the TR title, Gaston is quite an arrogant fellow so I'm sure he wasn't too thrilled that someone could be more interesting than him :rotfl2: That LTT veggie burger looks delicious! I've only ever gone to LTT for dinner, but I might have to try it at lunch after seeing that!

ETA: Also, what a gorgeous view at BWI! I don't think I cold get sick of that one.

Happy Easter to all my Dis Friends

Well.... considering EE is one of the BEST roller coasters in all WDW - the front seat is the best place to be. I like to be in the front for the end of the rail photos as well as being able to see the track flip inside the cavern.

I can NEVER get such great photos on the ride. I don't think I have one photo of the Yeti. Great job riding it twice so early in the day. :)

Have a blessed weekend MK!

Mary Ellen - love the update. Agree 100% - EE front row is best front row in Disney. Great pictures. Hoping for Jambo house for you in October. Next to BC / YC - think AKL might be my favorite - it is a totally different feel. The one drawback is not having the easy walk or monorail to the parks, but we really enjoyed our couple of stays there when the boys were younger.

Look forward to the 6th at our hopeful UD Dis meet!

All caught up! I love the view from your room at BWV! We had a non-clown pool view in October but I think your non-clown pool view tops ours! Fantastic! :thumbsup2

It really was a fantastic view. I could stay there during every visit. Normally I like to change resorts and room views, but that was just too perfect!

I eat a lot of salad at home, too. In addition to that I eat very basic meals at home. Everything at Disney is a bit more indulgent so it occasionally catches up with me. That was the only issue I had and fortunately it was very short lived.

Off to a fun start at AK! :goodvibes

I think so too! ;)

Just catching up here! I am loving the FW pictures, it is so pretty. I love the story of the TR title, Gaston is quite an arrogant fellow so I'm sure he wasn't too thrilled that someone could be more interesting than him :rotfl2:

FW is a beautiful area. I am so glad we were able to see it during our visit. I agree, Gaston is quite arrogant, but it was also a pretty fun interaction. We all got a chuckle out of it! :rotfl:

That LTT veggie burger looks delicious! I've only ever gone to LTT for dinner, but I might have to try it at lunch after seeing that!

I love lunch at LTT. I think its fun to have a sit down lunch and I like the variety on their lunch menu. I have to tell you though - I really did not care for that veggie burger and I generally love veggie burgers. It was just very bland and tasteless. I hope they change it to something a little tastier.

ETA: Also, what a gorgeous view at BWI! I don't think I cold get sick of that one.

I know I could never get sick of that view. It was really beautiful.

Happy Easter to all my Dis Friends

Thanks Rosie! I love it! I hope you have a wonderful Easter as well!

Well.... considering EE is one of the BEST roller coasters in all WDW - the front seat is the best place to be. I like to be in the front for the end of the rail photos as well as being able to see the track flip inside the cavern.

I have to agree. I love RnR, but for overall theme and views EE is really the best. It is really cool to see the track from the front row. I love that!

I can NEVER get such great photos on the ride. I don't think I have one photo of the Yeti. Great job riding it twice so early in the day. :)

The last time I rode it and took pictures we were stopped at the Yeti forever so I got a ton of pictures. In fact, we were there so long I started to get nervous. But this time it was like - Hi Yeti :wave2: and then - whoosh - we were off again.

Have a blessed weekend MK!

Thanks! You too Brenda!

Mary Ellen - love the update. Agree 100% - EE front row is best front row in Disney. Great pictures.

Thanks! EE front row is almost a requirement for me. It doesn't take that long to wait for it, so why not! It's awesome!

Hoping for Jambo house for you in October. Next to BC / YC - think AKL might be my favorite - it is a totally different feel. The one drawback is not having the easy walk or monorail to the parks, but we really enjoyed our couple of stays there when the boys were younger.

I am really hoping that I will end up with BC/BWV for the first 3 nights of the trip, then AKL Jambo for the second half. I just don't have enough points for an Epcot resort for the entire trip since we are taking another couple with us for the second half. I think the standard view AKL villas are such an great DVC bargain and I love the entire resort.

Look forward to the 6th at our hopeful UD Dis meet!

Me too! :cool1:

Wishing our DISfriends a very happy Easter!

Karin - that is just too cute! OMG! I love it! I hope you have a wonderful EAster as well. :thumbsup2

ah roller coaster pics. I don't do Roller Coasters lol. Great pics though. Happy Easter
