Son with Aspergers Syndrome - Eating at WDW

I also have a son with autism, he is 14. He is very picky mostly at restraunts will only eat cheese pizza or plain hot dog, nothing else. We are going down and I was thinking of getting the dinning plan however it would not be worth my money to buy this for him as he would not eat that much food in one day, could I purchase the child plan for him or not purchase at all and just pay for what he eats at the restraunts

I could be wrong, but I think the DDP is based on age. Being 14, he would be charged adult price. It probably wouldn't be worth your money to be on the ddp. In the past, servers have told my parents that since they were paying cash they could get kid's meals, or even kid's meals in adult portions.

The rule is that every person on the package reservation must have the same tickets and, if DDP, it must also be for all members of the party for the number of nights of the stay. And if age is ten or older it is adult pricing. These rules cannot be changed by anyone at reservations.

Thanks, so could I purchase the dinning plan for me and my husband and just pay cash for his meals

You would have to purchase the same dining plan for everybody. If you decide that you do want to purchase a dining plan (remember, it's ok to NOT buy it) then here's what I'd suggest. At fixed priced restaurants like buffets, family style dining and dinner shows, use credits for everybody. At restaurants where you order off a menu, you can pay OOP for him to have a kids' meal and use his credits for additional meals basically stretching the plan, or if he'd eat more than what's offered in the kids' meal you can ask for an adult portion of the main course of a kids' meal and use his credits to pay for his meals. Lots of parents of neuro-typical kids go through this same struggle so it's not an issue specific to families with autistic kids.

Its looking like the plan would cost me way to much. He would not eat enough to pay for the kids plan much less the adult plan. Maybe if they offer free dinning in Oct this year but other wise just a waste for me. Thanks everyone.
