I'm thinking Barb & the boys must really be feeling bad. She hasn't even stopped in to say hi! Hope you guys are better soon Barb!

Evening everyone!

Took 2 hours to get home because we finally got a snowstorm....now its changing over to sleet.

Hope all the sickies out there are feeling better. Only 3 days left of the week!

I'm so sorry that Ryan is getting worse. At least he got to enjoy his party before things got too bad.

Looking for the positives here...

Thanks....appreciate someone who is 'optimistic' like me

RVGal said:
Do you really want the lessons? 'Cause if you guys keep asking, I'll keep talking.

Teams. That's a tricky one. Okay, think of it like Survivor. You've got teamwork going strong at the beginning of the competition, but at the end it is every man for himself.

Yep...if I didn't want lessons, I wouldn't be askin'.... Actually, this makes more sense coming from you (a woman) than any of my guy friends :thumbsup2

Joshua's favorite driver is Tony Stewart too. I think he is fun to watch. I would like him for no other reason than he punched Kurt Busch in the face. I ain't buying the "Kurt fell in the bathroom" story. Yeah, he fell and hit his face in the locker room a few hours after he intentionally hit Tony Stewart's car on pit row. Yeah. And both drivers got called into a meeting with Nascar officials. Yeah.

:lmao: ....I'm tempted to pick either Busch brother JUST to ruffle feathers :rolleyes1

:scratchin

come pick me up on the way. i wanna go too!

i'll be holding onto my 5 large orange suitcases...............:rolleyes1

:scared:

:rotfl:

if i lived closer, i would bubba watch for you.
and then i could have bubba teach me how to play the kewl computer games.

 thanks....I know if any of you lived nearer, you'd be there for me....as I would for any of you. :grouphug:

brab: and your mom is going on the trip with you......don't hold a grudge.
it is hard to understand moms sometimes and why they do what they do to us.

good luck on your first day of this job.
come home tanned......

I haven't tanned at work yet! :lmao: ....getting there tho.....

My Mom was in today to get her hair done.....I musta gave her a 'cool' greeting....she asked if i was mad at her. Told her a 'little'. She apologized several times, but i tried to make her understand it's about (don't laugh) "priorities" and not always about "her".....don't think I was getting thru :sad2: My DH made me open my eyes years ago and realize how selfish my Mom can be :sad2: Do I like it? Nope. Do I still love her? Yep. She is who she is...and I have learned how to handle it and what to expect from her. Basically, she just strengthened DH's point of "I don't rely on anyone but you"..... when I can rely on a client/friend more than my own Mother, it's a sad day..... :sad2:

keisha: do you sleep with your bling on?

I do....except I take earrings and engagement ring off.... ;)

Sorry, Penny, Mike would break my fingers if I picked a driver.

Can Penny pick for you? :confused3

Barb, I understand how you feel about your mom not wanting to babysit for you. My mom was honest at least. Hand to God: If you ever have kids, I will not be your permanent sitter. Now, that is just one of the 149,967,583 reasons (and growing) why we do not have children.

Ha! Here's the odd thing....when Bubba was younger, we hardly EVER asked Ma to watch him, and she'd actually get annoyed we DIDN'T ask more often :headache: He was just one of 'those' kids that went everywhere with us :confused3 I can count on one hand how many times I've asked her to take care of him. :sad2:

Kait is getting pms and not being very cooperative these days ...

So Jim wasn't too happy about that and started with the "she better get motivated to move in the mornings or there is no way in HE!! that I am pulling her @$$ out of school for a *&%$#*% week for vacation" ! - If she keeps it up, there is no way they will allow her to be out for a week

So that is why I am starting to get upset/nervous. He told me that and I got really quiet.....and after we got off the phone.....I'll admit it - I cried :guilty: Because I really want/need this vacation. That may sound selfish, but darn it, the mini vaca to the GWL in December was nice, but nothing beats our April/May gig!!!!

In addition to that, I am certain that this will be the last year we will be able to pull the kids out of school because the agenda/curriculum is going to be harder with Kait in 8th, Court in 4th and Frank in 1st next year.
[/B]

I can SO see DH saying the SAME thing! It does hurt your feelings because YOU DO look forward to it SO very much! It feels not fair to YOU...I totally get it. Hopefully she is getting motivated now, but if not, you might have to re-arrange her schedule...... She needs to learn responsibility of getting up and out the door on time..... Did you tell her this is probably THE last time of being taken out of skool for vacay? She'll have to wait for SUMMER  like the rest of us? :rolleyes1  She seems like a smart girl....I'm sure you'll figure something out...and if not, we are here to bounce ideas off of! :grouphug:

If i take either set of my earrings out for more than the day, the holes close up - so weird, i've had them pierced since i was a tween:confused3 . Anyone else have that problem?

:sad2: nope

Orange suitcases are a great idea, no worries to spot them bad boys...i've got so much crap (let's call it bling) on mine to make it easy to spot...luggage straps, ribbons, tags you name it.

Our 'suitcases' are just different all around. But, I guess it's hard to find "different" :confused3

poor bubba, hanging after his party...did he get good bling?:wizard:

I thought so....but not according to him....he got "boring" stuff :confused3

Broke my fav. mug (mickey mouse ;) ); bought a sub @ Disney store...damn thing - the handle gets hot...probably made in china by a 7 year old

dang sweatshops :headache:

for u cruising peeps, possible changes to the way we cruise; all to protect NCL/Hawaiian sailings/American ports...public comment period is over, they are supposed to decide soon:confused3

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1715707

skimmed over what you posted.....don't cruise often, or even yearly, but it doesn't sound good to me either! :sad2: Could be a 'deterrent' :headache:

knowing what i know, books are collected may 10th, and grades for awards and graduation are already completed by may 14 as that was in our junior high and elementary skools back then.

i figured they would not miss any learning material during those 12 days we were gone.

smart :thumbsup2 But only a teacha would have "insider" info like that. My parents would NEVER dream of taking me out of school for VACATION :scared1:

My wife is #1, I assumed everyone here would know that :goodvibes

Welllll....we thought she was ABOVE #1 priority....that's where we got confuzed ......

The interview got shifted to 2p. It went well, but they needed someone for a 1.5-2+ year commitment, as the office was starting a new training program. I would've been the perfect candidate (travel to Tampa/Clearwater would've been req'd, but that's okay, I'd also have to learn a lot of stuff which was fine with me). Only problem? I'm going to Denver in 6 months.

D'oh.

They did offer me a chance to come in on Wed and do chair massage for an in-office event they're having for 2hrs. It'll be $20/hr while I'm there, plus I'll get my name/face out there.

I'm sorry you didn't get that job DM...but, I think you might (unfortunately or fortunately ... depending how you look at it) run into the "time of employment" thing as a problem. Looking at it from an employers point of view, why hire someone only to have to screen and interview AGAIN in 6 months? I see their point, but also yours. The job you gave up, was that in the massage field? ...oh, and at least they offered you something.... Better than nothing. Do you find that when the times (economy) gets tough, (like now), that massages is one of the first things people give up? I notice that some people push their hair appointments back a week or two..... (what they don't realize, is if they are getting color, and trying to stretch a couple more weeks out of it, I'm charging MORE money to compensate for the 'extra' product I'm using! )

Oh boy, sounds like you are going to have as much fun with your mom on vacation as I did last year. Why do we keep doing that to ourselves?

Actually, this is the first trip with her in 9 years and really since I was little....oh, and, she wasn't invited....she invited herself :headache: (toldya she was selfish) :sad2:

We are all pretty much better. The doc gave Mikey a sample pack, two week dosage of the 500 mg Advair to get his asthma under control. He seems to be doing better with it too.

I was glad to read that what the doctor gave him helped  Can't be anything worse than having asthma and not being able to breathe :sad2:

Well I have two solutions for you.

1) Leave Kate behind with family to teach her a lesson

Or

2) Go in July while Barb & I are there! Much better than the first solution!

 :thumbsup2

realize we're talking racing...however, before I forget, must make a special announcement:cheer2:

the River Rats, formerly of Pittsburgh; now have way cushier digs:thumbsup2 and bigger fan base in beautiful Erie, PA

yes, that is #1 DS as head coach, #2 DS is offensive assistant - go team

Seems far...but if YOU'RE happy about it, then I'm happy for you :teeth: And I'm glad you told us what their positions were....I was looking all over for your surname, and didn't find it! Then remembered they were a souvenir from your 'practice marriage' :rolleyes1 I'm very happy for you and them....Thanks for sharing the news/link!

MIKE.....how are YOU doing?? Drugs workin' okay for ya? :rolleyes1

I'm better, still tired, feel like someone beat me up! I gave the bronchitis to my wife (aren't I nice!) We're both on our 4th day of antibiotics and some prescription cough medicine. Definitely better than we were, but not 100% yet.

Hope you and the 2 guys in your house feel better soon!

Well, folks... both boys have the sniffles and a cough still, but it doesn't seem to be developing into anything more. No fever. Keep your fingers crossed that we hold it off.

Brad took a shot of Nyquil, as he has decided that maybe he's getting it. It's hard to tell with him. He is one of those people that is convinced that he gets everything that everyone around him has. I swear, if he could claim PMS or menstrual cramps, when I mention that I have them, he would have them too.

I'm holding steady on the Zicam. Still have that nagging feeling that a cold is just hanging out in my body, but it isn't making me sick yet.

I'm off to bed. Night!

Mac: Still have 2 weeks til the bro gets the shave.....thinking a sick looking panther......

I can't believe it, my DF pointed out something extremely scary to me....

We are getting married in 16 months! :scared: :scared: :scared:

I think the panther would be kewl....

Why is getting married in 16 months scary? :confused3 (You'll love it :goodvibes )

Who is the old guy???

get better...did brad's ankles swell when u where preggie? jk;) i've heard tell of guys that gain weight with the mrs & get symptoms...perhaps like those who after years together begin to look alike?

mike & #1 wife (has a certain ring to it lol) and the beans & barb & her brood - all need to be feeling better soon. Valentines day is approaching, i smell chocolate.

barb - i've finally learned to accept my mom, warts & all...wonder if my brood will feel the same:rolleyes1 . Yep, #1 & #2 have one of those names that ends in a vowel...related (distantly) to the actor with same surname (he was adopted though, i always took a perverse delight in pointing it interrupting the ex's brag about what good stock he came from...evil i am:rotfl: )

mac - idol fooled me with a 2 hour event...irish tatoo girl is on now, wonder if she'll get the boot?

how bad is the weather here, they called the patrol cars into station...my DH is sliding down mountain roads with a truck load of steel:scared: if you see a big blue truck rapidly approaching in your rear view mirror start praying...obviously, the dispatchers don't have any common sense:headache:  . Those loaded rigs are hard to stop under ideal cirumcumstances let alone on snow covered ice.

let everyone sleep in tomorrow morning.i'll tell fletcher to whisper wake up call for tuesday.

:rotfl2:

i guess people do read my crap....

::yes::

I wanted to give you guys a small update on the dog situation. A co-worker overheard me telling someone in the office today what happened over the weekend. She and her husband are apparently fairly large contributors to the SPCA...which I didn't know. Anyway...she called and demanded to speak to the Executive Director (the same one I sent the email to) but got her secretary.

When I got home today, the ED had read my email and is now going to get with the counselor who waited on us this weekend. I'm hoping to receive a letter of apology and an invitation to come down and adopt Ginger...but I'll have to wait and see. I'll let you know what's going on.

Have a good night!

That is good to hear! I'm hoping she has some strings she can pull....and I'm not sure she's too happy knowing she supports them, and this is what they're doing. Only takes "1" whistleblower :rolleyes1 I honestly hope this works out well in your favor.....then you can post pix of your cute puppy instead of your clean house!

It is amazing how much a little sleep will do. Get well soon and tell Bubba he has to take care of his mommy and daddy now.

Oh great! :rotfl: If I have to rely on Bubba for food, I'd be living on hotdogs! :rotfl2:

I agree, you should all sleep in tomorrow.

:lmao:

Good Morning!

Not too loud - need to let the house of Bubba sleep in!!

Thanks for having Fletch's back and 'whispering'...
 ...but I'm curious as to why everyone thought House of Bubba was sleeping in? :confused3 Funny....as Bubba went to skool today and i to my 2nd day of new job AND to the salon  ....only DH stayed home sick.....

Morning!
I almost forgot:headache:

1 demerit :rolleyes1 You wuz late :confused3

Sharon....HIYA!!! Busy with hockey? You haven't been around lately??

Get lots of rest and feel better soon. Don't worry about us.

Thanks....

We'll keep the chatter to a minimum.

i think on this thread, that is considered an 'oxymoron'?? :confused3

:rotfl2:

Wow, Brab, that's one heck of a lot of ketchupin'

Guess what? It's snowing again!!!! Apparently we've had more snow so far this winter than the past two winters combined. Lovely.

BUBBAS HOUSE has a doctors note so they get extra time:grouphug:

thank you for the time extension....

I pick Kyle Busch

nah! just kiddin'.... :lmao:

House of Bubba is going with Jimmy Johnson (has anyone else picked him?)

.....it's a snooooooooooooow day

it was early dismissal day here

mother decided she had a stroke.... took a peek @ her no visible signs:confused3 ; she's a bit out there to begin with tends to get som odd ideas.

RVGal said:
I wouldn't sweat your decision Janet. A life threatening stroke is obvious. If she could coherently contact you and tell you that she thinks she might have had one... it's highly unlikely that she did. My MIL went through some medical thing a few years ago. She was convinced she had a stroke. They did MRIs and EEG and you name it. She's as healthy as a woman her age could be. She even had a home nurse that visited them a few times a day. Made her stand up, sit down, lie down... checked her blood pressure at all those times. Nothing. The last time she thought it happened, FIL called 911. They came out, determined that she had hyperventilated herself, and left. After that, she was kinda embarrassed and didn't do it again.

Janet....I'm sorry your Mom scared you like that...but I agree with Tricia....you'd KNOW if something wasn't 'right' Oh and Tricia....your poor MIL....to be embarrassed like that...but, always better safe than sorry :thumbsup2

there are many on this thread that want to talk and discuss the nascar event and drivers.

That'd be me.... I'm asking questions.... I want to know cuz I think if I had an "idea" what was going on, I'd watch more often....(in between doing usual "Sunday" stuff :rolleyes1 )

Saw there was a major pile up because of the weather up your way. Wonder if Barb & Tracie got it too.

It started snowing this morning....really started sticking to the roads around noon (hence early dismissal). The Schuylkill that Mr.Bean drives, had a bad accident, as did the turnpike :sad2: I believe the Phila. area got the 'freezing rain' right at the height of rush hour :scared: Was still snow by me. The freezing stuff here is tonite and overnight...but, supposed to be raining in the morning :confused3

He is going through the trials of junior high when you change your friends, and the "cliques" start up. We all want to be in with the "cool kids". Here they call them the "preps". Silly me - I didn't know these were cool - as I was a preppie in high school - and we were not cool - we were the nerds. For his birthday - he wants to have about 4 friends to sleep over. But he does NOT want this one kid who of course will be very hurt if he is not invited (as will be the parents). This kid has been invited to everything since 2nd/3rd grade. Of course, now he wants to be a "prep" and I think he "trash talks" to my Jr, when the "preps" are around to make him look good.

 i agree...nobody I knew wanted to be a 'prep'....we were all 'motorheads' ;) I wish him luck finding 'his place' It's not an easy time of life :sad2:

I did NOT know that Daytona was the first race to open the season Jennifer

I did :rolleyes1

Oops - forgot to give mummy dust and hugs to the sickies in the group - Barb and entire family  :wizard:

Jennifer

thanks :goodvibes

And, yes, the Daytona 500 is the first race of the season. It's the only sport to open the season with the biggest event of the year.

Yeah...I knew that....WHY? What is up with that? Football-end of year. Hockey-end of year (all stars mid season)...Why the big "start"? :confused3 (see? there i go askin' questions again)

I woke up coughing this mroning so of course I have to get up and go to the bathroom. Well, Lizzy (the pouch that does her business as soon as she comes in from outsdie) has just pooped in the middle of the floor and I stepped right in it! Then had to clean my foot, clean her mess and then found pee in the kitchen floor. :headache:

Well, THAT is just not a good start to the day, now is it? :scared: Ahhh...the memories you're making.......

Wow, Brab, that's one heck of a lot of ketchupin'

Guess what? It's snowing again!!!! Apparently we've had more snow so far this winter than the past two winters combined. Lovely.

I'm going back at least 10 pages :rotfl2:

It would seem some parts are really getting hammered with snow....others, nothing :confused3 Don't worry...one day, Janet, Tracie, Jodie & I will be complaining about ALL our snow, while you, raven and Penny laff at us :rolleyes1

You don't suppose Marcie finally snapped and "filed" her boss away?

papershredder? da-da-dum......

Who wants to go with me to look for Gemma?

I thot Penny volunteered for that job? :confused3 IF she didn't hear back about that job

ma looks the same & seems fine to to me.... she didn't mention it again today; is moving just fine, talking, etc...

I'll just keep a closer eye on her, she does have that lifeline system with the button you press, etc. what can you do - she'll be 78 this year.

Is DM a massage therapist?

See? Tricia was right...Ma is fine. At her age, I guess it's 'normal' to feel a little 'off' at times :confused3

Yep...DM gots the license for 'magic' fingers

Sorry, I'm booked up until April 16.

:rotfl:

I think I read too many of Barb's posts here and picked up whatever she and the guys there have!

sorry....feel better soon :goodvibes

I never knew sickness could be passed through the internet.

:lmao:

And, Gemma, bless her heart. I just knew she wouldn't give us the shout outs from the library that she promised. We'll just have to wait until she's home from University again... and hope that she decides to drop in and see us...

she might need to be 'initiated' again.....wait! does she know we've moved to our summer home? :headache:

Penny.....send a forwarding address card to Gema....wouldya pleez? :flower3:

everybody knows the internet is full of sick-o's
:lmao: :lmao:

haveto laff, evidently, peeps were going insane since theypre-empted Oprah for a special news show re weather, etc. They kept announcing that show would be shown ater tonight...already indicated they'll interrupt
it for a 1/2 hour tomorrow too (nothing like doom & gloom in advance lol)...knew the big O was popular; never knew she was that important

 don't like oprah...so HA!

I feel like the momma duck gathering up all her ducklings. Don't make me nip you guys in the tail feathers...

Glad to hear nothing more than sniffles....and Brad...well, it's sympathy with him  Good for you! Make sure you are resting as much as possible...big weekend for you coming up :goodvibes DH says Nyquil sux since they took the 'good stuff' out of it....

Valentines day is approaching, i smell chocolate.

I hope your DH is okay tonite...it really is not a night to be out driving....let alone the bigs! mummydust :wizard:

Yep ::yes:: ...me and my 2.5 hours of

are goin to sleep now....

Will "see ya's" tomorrow afternoon/evening.....

(Oh, and after a couple of shots of inhaler, 2 doses of anti's and 1 dose of steriods, Bubba is all but back to normal....just needs to get appetite back. (That's about the only 'good' thing about being sick...no appetite :rolleyes1 )

Barb glad to see you here. I read through everything and will respond to it tomorrow. Just wanted to comment on the sleeping in. We were all saying that the three of you should. I was afraid you weren't able to.

Anyway I hope you guys feel better. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Neither of us smoke, won't even allow it in the house, I have nothing against smokers, I grew up in a family of 5 who was the only non-smoker, just never got started :confused3 . But we're getting better, thanks for the thoughts!

when you live in the midwest, you get snow and frigid temps.
i don't laugh at snow.
i hate that stuff.
i think people in florida should take a turn and have the snow for the next 3 years.

papershredder? da-da-dum......

 don't like oprah...so HA!

i have met oprah and like her even less now.
i posted about my meeting with her sometime back on the cb.

i was out voted naturally

hope you are starting to feel better mike.
it seems like it takes longer when it is winter time for the bronchitis to leave a person.
