YAY! Snow day for Sharon today.

This is the first time ever that the boss has called and told me to stay home. So why did I volunteer to go in later today if this mess changes over to rain? :confused3

Somebody smack me in the head.

Guess I'll be doing this today

mac - i agree the big O is turning into a kingmaker, way too much money & power in one vocal broad's hands imo...fans are almost cult-like in their devotion.:confused3

good day to all, my better half is on 4-12 and beckons me forthwit:flower3:

I'm sorry you didn't get that job DM...but, I think you might (unfortunately or fortunately ... depending how you look at it) run into the "time of employment" thing as a problem. Looking at it from an employers point of view, why hire someone only to have to screen and interview AGAIN in 6 months? I see their point, but also yours. The job you gave up, was that in the massage field? ...oh, and at least they offered you something.... Better than nothing. Do you find that when the times (economy) gets tough, (like now), that massages is one of the first things people give up? I notice that some people push their hair appointments back a week or two..... (what they don't realize, is if they are getting color, and trying to stretch a couple more weeks out of it, I'm charging MORE money to compensate for the 'extra' product I'm using! )
It was in the chiropractic field, which I like more than the spa field. I'm sure that in the spas, a rough economy means less pampering for the middle class. The superrich can still get massages when they want.

Yeah...I knew that....WHY? What is up with that? Football-end of year. Hockey-end of year (all stars mid season)...Why the big "start"? :confused3 (see? there i go askin' questions again)

Well... the roots of Nascar can be traced back to the early 1900s when they were just trying to find out who had the fastest car. It wasn't organized, there weren't any rules, and there weren't any tracks. Daytona became a yearly gathering place to race across the hard, even sand. The official beginning of Nascar was when Bill France looked at the yearly gathering in Daytona and thought, "we've got something here I could make money from" and built a huge (for the time) track. That would have been somewhere in the mid 1950s. So, the Daytona race initially was THE race. Driver raced on small tracks around the country to practice, but it was all about getting to Daytona. That is why the Daytona 500 is the biggest event of the season. However, the end of the season, when drivers are racing to earn the Sprint Cup (formerly Nextel Cup... formerly Winston Cup... Nascar does love to make money from sponsorship  ) it is a big deal too.

As for why they keep the Daytona as the first race of the season, I think it has to do with the season starting in February. Can't exactly race in Michigan or Indiana or the Poconos in February. Your choices are limited. Vegas or California, maybe? Anyway, better to have the "original" race first so you can make a big deal about it instead of having it the second or third week when it would seem like any other race. That's my theory, anyway. :confused3

Once again, I'll be digging in around here. It is crunch time. I only have today and tomorrow to get everything done.

I do have a head start on the food. Remember, I have to stock my kitchen with ready-to-eat and yet gluten-free meals. I baked a ham on Monday and made bean & ham soup from the leftovers yesterday. Today will be chicken & veggies in the crock pot. I'll leave them a roast in the crock pot Friday. I would think that 2 people should survive on ham, soup, chicken/veggies, and roast for the (almost) 4 days that they'll be here... right? Plus I've got eggs and bacon and hashbrowns for breakfast.

I won't be around much today. In fact, I am going to let Daniel watch some of his shows here on the computer so I won't be tempted to sit my butt down and do nothing. :rolleyes1

nice of u to leave provisions, on the rare ocassion somebody watched my youngins (other than their older siblings); they went to the sitters house - no food involved on my part;) .

UPDATE.....UPDATE.....UPDATE

Boss just called - they are closing the office today because of the weather!!!!

Time to kick DS out of bed. Today is going to be "Pack the Legos up and put in the attic day". He is going to be so not happy with me! hehe

Okay I know I am not completely crazy but thes first three posts I have quoted I never saw yesterday. All the rest of the page I did see!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

:rotfl: sounds like the plot of an old alfred hitchcock episode (the B&W ones)

ma looks the same & seems fine to to me:wizard: ; she didn't mention it again today; is moving just fine, talking, etc...she goes back to pain clinic next week, supposed to get an epidural injection in back for pain; then will see her reg. dr the following week. I'll just keep a closer eye on her, she does have that lifeline system with the button you press, etc.; what can you do - she'll be 78 this year.

Is DM a massage therapist? For years, i have had theraputic massages on upper back due to cervical issues. Performed by physical therapists for a 1/2 hour or so during PT/rehab sessions(t hey hurt like hell) usually preceeded by traction...(it hurts too):rolleyes1& ultra sound to loosen stuff up (it doesn't hurt) ...then you exercise...then get iced...then more massage & go home & pop some meds. Evidently, there are different types of massage techniques; know i've been told not to let a non-PT touch me.:confused3

jennifer - he'll settle in, it's difficult when a kid does get left behind the regular gang. I try to stay out of it; without much success lol.

we got 6 inches of snow by mid-afternoon; then sleet, freezing rain, and supposed to get another 7 inches overnight...couldn't get the suv up our hill, had to go the other way:eek:

Janet - How is mom this morning? I hope everything is good. I can't imagine having to take care of my mom. In fact I will be leaving that up to my sister if it is ever needed.

The pt sounds awful painful. How often do you have to do it?

Did you get the other 7 inches of snow overnight. I don't like the snow but can at least handle it. The sleet & rain are a different story.

No to outside. I also thought this might be too long to "hold it". We could leave him downstairs (ours is a split level) and then any accidents would be contained and not on the good new carpet!

From Lori:
See this is what I remember from my dog when we were younger. He was supposed to be my brother's dog. But do you think he would ever clean it up. NOPE! He would tell me - watch - don't step in that.:lmao: This is the main reason we don't have a dog, as both DH and I work all day.

Oh yeah, the dog should be trained but Ally won't take the time to do it. She does feed & water it once every 3 days or so.. I told her just yesterday maybe I should feed her every 3 days to see how she likes it. :sad2: OF course that means that dh & I do most of the animal care around here.

Sorry, I'm booked up until April 16.:thumbsup2

;) And then it is party time!

oh, and I cloroxed my post. . . so keep your germs outta here, would ya :lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

everybody knows the internet is full of sick-o's:rotfl: l

Evening everyone!

Took 2 hours to get home because we finally got a snowstorm....now its changing over to sleet.

Hope all the sickies out there are feeling better. Only 3 days left of the week!

Hi Katie! You know every time I type your name I want to call you Katie Bug! My great niece's name is Katie & that is what I call her. But she is just going to be 6 Sunday so maybe calling you Katie Bug isn't such a good idea. ;)

Be careful out on those roads.

Yep...if I didn't want lessons, I wouldn't be askin'.... Actually, this makes more sense coming from you (a woman) than any of my guy friends :thumbsup2

She does explain it well, doesn't she!

:lmao: ....I'm tempted to pick either Busch brother JUST to ruffle feathers :rolleyes1

:scratchin

:scared:

:rotfl:

I'm going to use your smacking smilie on you if you don't watch it!

 thanks....I know if any of you lived nearer, you'd be there for me....as I would for any of you. :grouphug:

And we know that too.

I haven't tanned at work yet! :lmao: ....getting there tho.....

My Mom was in today to get her hair done.....I musta gave her a 'cool' greeting....she asked if i was mad at her. Told her a 'little'. She apologized several times, but i tried to make her understand it's about (don't laugh) "priorities" and not always about "her".....don't think I was getting thru :sad2: My DH made me open my eyes years ago and realize how selfish my Mom can be :sad2: Do I like it? Nope. Do I still love her? Yep. She is who she is...and I have learned how to handle it and what to expect from her. Basically, she just strengthened DH's point of "I don't rely on anyone but you"..... when I can rely on a client/friend more than my own Mother, it's a sad day..... :sad2:

It is sad. Has Bubba ever mentioned being upset by things she pulls? Our parents should be there for us when we need them. I can guarantee you they would expect no less from us.

Ha! Here's the odd thing....when Bubba was younger, we hardly EVER asked Ma to watch him, and she'd actually get annoyed we DIDN'T ask more often :headache: He was just one of 'those' kids that went everywhere with us :confused3 I can count on one hand how many times I've asked her to take care of him. :sad2:

Same here. I enjoy being with my kids. Although last night I sure was wishin g for a weekend away.
