i still don't get the whole team thing, strategy - although that'll probably be one of the last lessons.:goodvibes

Yeah...I don't get the "team" part of it either :confused3

(have you figured out Janet and I are NASCAR virgins? )

okay-
before Tricia heads off for the big party
go to Nascar dot com if you dont already have a fav drive and pick one-
whomever you want

and we will see how they do for the year of course several folks may have the same driver(just pick one)
sound like a plan?

Can I pick later today or tonite? I've got a lot of stuff to do today....

sorry Barb, i know what's it like to be let down when the stakes are high:sad2:

That's a shame....nobody should ever know the feeling of being let down.... :sad2: Amazing the way I think and logic I use being brought up by her :confused3 (guess my sister wasn't as smart as i was?)

please post your choice
i am writing this down

[the big prize? you may get stuck with me visiting for a week. ha ha}

i will...just keep reminding me.... And, you coming to visit for a week is a great prize!! Cooking, cleaning, etc.... :goodvibes (btw, didja ever hear about that second job you applied for?)

BARB-
have a good first day
:grouphug:

pixie dust to Ry

thanks :grouphug:

Morning all!

Janet - how about that bling (yeah yeah - old news I know) Color me green with envy - its beautiful. Shame about the 2 hour delay. Hope you can get new specs soon!!

Tricia - I can totally relate to your feeling. I so badly want to line up two hotels on the I95 stretch (we are convinced we are driving to Florida again-unless there is great airfare at the last minute) but for some reason I feel that this trip is going to fall through just like the others :confused3 :sad2:
Hoping the sniffles and scratchy throat is just from the leaves.....no sickies in the house!!!

Barb - great news on the successful party :thumbsup2 Sad news about you and poor, poor Bubba. Cbean is still really bad with her asthma. Started last Sunday and she is still on the nebulizer quite a bit. Sounds like Darth Vader :darth: alot right now......but she just plugs away and goes about her business. Hoping that you guys are feeling better VERY VERY soon

wall1a - The Countdown begins   Be sure to take lots and lots of pictures and we want a trip report no more than a week after you return :lmao:

jodie - great kitty story.....guess she knew she HAD to go - poor Mike (kinda  )!!! would love to be the person sitting there overhearing your end of the conversation :lmao:as far as a crossover, it depends on if you are looking for the high end cars (mercedes, acura) or the more reasonable...we have the first year release (2005) of the Chevy Equinox. Jim drives it - we haven't had any problems with it and the maintenance is minimal....we have it serviced every 3-4 months and it is the AWD (on demand - you know the wheels that slip are the wheels that grip sort of thing) He drives on the Blue Route (476) and PA Turnpike everyday for work and lord knows that PennDot is not always on the ball with their job in bad weather:mad: My Aunt has the Hyundai Sonata and has no complaints.

mike - glad you are on the mend.....and we should be at least #3 on the priority list :lmao::lmao: j/k! Hope you continue to feel better and check in a little more often.

mac - i missed all of the Thomas stuff.....I like mac MUCH better

marcie - I don't think that your nekkidness/quick changes around the house is too abnormal (as long as gf is not there :rotfl:) - there are alot of people who find nothing wrong with it, and those who go to the further extreme and practice nudity/going au natural. We don't do it here (well except Frank who will change in front of anyone) but its not uncommon for any one of us to walk from the bathroom to the bedroom in a towel or underwear. My bathroom time was constantly being interrupted until I changed the bathroom door knob upstairs and now they cannot unlock the door from the outside anymore ;) Downstairs in the powder room, I am fair game :lmao:

lori - all the sickies gone from your household now? and for the record, its 12 degrees right now :headache: Another thing you had mentioned about the sunset times. We noticed that when we are in Orlando, the sun sets about 45 minutes or so after it usually does here at home....but if you look at a map, Orlando is about 90+ miles west of us (while not in the next time zone, its about halfway between EST and CST) - so it just makes sense that the further west you are you have light later than us who are further East, right ? Its pretty cool :thumbsup2

penny - 6 words, hmmmmm????? I am still working on the bucket list
1.gif

wendy and damo - really cute pups :thumbsup2

todd - fight for the dog - they really had no right to deny you based on that one answer......don't get me started on some of those rescue/SPCA places - bad bad bad experiences with them :sad2: No offense to anyone who is involved with a rescue group.

Jennifer, Mary, Katie and anyone I have missed with this post, sorry:flower3: Hope you all have a great Monday and I have to read back some more to catch up :rolleyes1 :surfweb: and comment.

btw - still slightly cranky, but getting better today

As long as that ALSO means you are cleaning out our clutter and helping me organize - :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I got some job leads, and one place was actually hiring, so I faxed my resume over. *crossing fingers*

So, Bubba is worse today...going to the doctor later today. Have to call my Mom and get her butt outta bed and tell her to come up here and watch him while I go to work....don't want to call 'off' my first day :scared:

DH isn't feeling well OR having a good day at work....long story...and I think I am successfully fighting Bubba's cold off....well, at least after taking Advil for the pain behind my eyes and sore throat :headache:

*sprinkling mummydust over House of Bubba*

I'm so sorry that Ryan is getting worse. At least he got to enjoy his party before things got too bad.

Looking for the positives here...

Did he go to skool? I hope that's all it is...the leaves and a 'cold'.....

Yeah, he's at school. He ate a waffle for breakfast and didn't have a fever, so I didn't see any reason to keep him home. He already missed Friday because of the doctor's appointment. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't get worse.

So....my Mom can't come up and take care of Bubba for me while I go to work (new job--1st day) for 4 hours! So, I called my client/friend Pat (the lady that was here for Christmas....the older one, like a Grandma)...she is coming up to help me out. I was so ticked at my Mom, I couldn't believe her priorities  I told her not to worry about me, he's my son and I will take care of it. (Also mentioned it was my first day and if I had to call off and they didn't want me, I'd go thru the unemployment filing and such....) She did call back later saying she tried to reschedule the appt. she has, but couldn't.... Told her not to worry, I took care of it. Can you believe this woman is going on vacation with us this summer?? :headache: Grrreeaaattttt....

Awww, Barb. Unfortunately, I know exactly what you are going through. I'm glad you had a backup for Bubba Watch. I hope your first day at the new place goes well!

forgot to thank ms tricia for the 'splaining:thumbsup2

i still don't get the whole team thing, strategy - although that'll probably be one of the last lessons.:goodvibes

Do you really want the lessons? 'Cause if you guys keep asking, I'll keep talking.

Teams. That's a tricky one. Okay, think of it like Survivor. You've got teamwork going strong at the beginning of the competition, but at the end it is every man for himself.

There is a lot of things that drivers can do to "help" each other during a race. The most obvious is drafting. If two cars pair up and "share" the clean airflow, they will both travel faster and use less gas (on most tracks). That's why you'll see a long line of cars driving single file... and when one car pops out to pass (or gets squeezed out)... sometimes it will look like that car hit the brakes and falls way behind. The reason is simple aerodynamics. He was in clean, shared air and when he moves out into the dirty wall of air it slows his car down. The car has to work harder to press through the still air and it burns more gas.

Brad would pick Jeff Gordon, but I'm gonna go with Clint Bowyer. He was coming on strong at the end of last season, lets see if he can build on that.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm going to try to get things done today. I'm thinking of it like it needs to be done anyway... not that I'm getting ready for the trip. :rolleyes1

The House of Bean is going with #20 - Tony Stewart (Cbean's favorite:thumbsup2 )

Joshua's favorite driver is Tony Stewart too. I think he is fun to watch. I would like him for no other reason than he punched Kurt Busch in the face. I ain't buying the "Kurt fell in the bathroom" story. Yeah, he fell and hit his face in the locker room a few hours after he intentionally hit Tony Stewart's car on pit row. Yeah. And both drivers got called into a meeting with Nascar officials. Yeah.

Thanks for letting me vent! :grouphug:

if i lived closer, i would bubba watch for you.
and then i could have bubba teach me how to play the kewl computer games.

i'm sorry:hug: that mom pooped out on you. it is hard to understand how a close relative/friend could even leave you in the lurch like that.
good thing you had a back up.
sending mummy dust for the house of bubba for you, ryan, the Mr.

Morning all!

hope bean gets over the asthma soon.
does change of weather ever trigger the attacks?

just keep telling yourself you are going on this trip to florida.
don't take no for an answer.

flying is less time consuming but if the only way you can get there is by car, still go for it.

I got some job leads, and one place was actually hiring, so I faxed my resume over. *crossing fingers*

mummy dust for darkie!

i am behind and know i haven't addressed each homie personally this morning.

sorry.

i overslept and got out of bed at 10 this morning and only on cup 3 of coffee.
didn't sleep at all during the night and still haven't gotten enough rest with what i did get this morning.

if i don't list you, you know why.
it takes me awhile for the coffee to kick in.

tricia: you know a lot about cars.
i haven't taken any notes when i read your posts about them.
it is a lot of words for me to read and very few pictures.
mummy dust for our boy at skool today.

tracie: you are so nice. you include everyone and their brother when you address the group. i appreciate you filling us in on how things are going inside your four walls.
hope the beans are feeling better real soon.

brab: and your mom is going on the trip with you......don't hold a grudge.
it is hard to understand moms sometimes and why they do what they do to us. it is tough to work when the family is sick. they will get better soon.
mummy dust on its way.

good luck on your first day of this job.
come home tanned......

darkie: crossing everything i own for this resume you faxed in!

keisha: do you sleep with your bling on? i would, you could use it as a night light to the bathroom at 3 in the morning. boy, does it have a fantastic shine to it.

how is son?
and, are you feeling any better yet?

penny: i shouldn't say this but have not looked up that site.
and, i haven't paid attention to the lessons you and tricia have given us.

can i just pick steven tyler and be done with it?

Okay okay, I pick......Ricky Bobby.

Haha! This is what I was thinking too! Sorry, Penny, Mike would break my fingers if I picked a driver. Even randomly based upon the sound of his name. We have many things in common; one of them happens to be a complete ambivalence about football, the other is a loathe of anything NASCAR. I cannot succumb! :lmao: You guys are killing me. Can you just start labeling posts: "Jodie, ignore this one?" or "not for Jodie?" Between football season and NASCAR, I am losing all the meat in the posts, and I'm not ignoring you; I am just not following the chatter. :rotfl:

DM, good luck on your job interview!

Barb, I understand how you feel about your mom not wanting to babysit for you. My mom was honest at least. Hand to God: If you ever have kids, I will not be your permanent sitter. Now, that is just one of the 149,967,583 reasons (and growing) why we do not have children. ;)

Tracie, do you mean your May trip is not in the bag yet?

Raven, how many cups of coffee are we on now? Have you made sure that no one is playing a krewl joke on you and switched you to decaf?!

since i am the only one in the house that will venture to a grocery store, it is not decaf...........

when they need something at the store, they leave me notes.

this morning i woke up and saw " OJ " on a piece of paper on the counter.
i read their little minds, good enough for me....

just don't have the get up and go yet.
on cup 8 now

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That is what we use when driving to Florida (or anywhere long distance)- that is one good thing about the tractor trailers

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Mac, too funny ... what if you marry off your boys, and their wives find "OJ" on a post it on the fridge?! Your daughters-in-law will love that. :goodvibes

as far as the trip goes.....got the room at the HRH, Jim took off the Friday before and Monday after in case we are driving (pre and post car lag days), I called the AAA office and they have the tickets because I didn't buy them on the special sale they had :headache: I have reward night hotel rooms lined up one for the way down one for the way back. I just have this feeling that something is going to "happen", you know??

Kait is getting pms and not being very cooperative these days and has been late Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and today in getting to school (we are talking just by 3-5 minutes, but still they mark them late and you need to provide a note for them to get into school). I can wake her up at 530 in the Angry Mike hours and she STILL wouldn't be ready on time - and my "prodding" then yelling, then raving like a lunatic doesn't help at all. :confused3    I mean, yeah, we only live a 3 minute car ride, if that, from school....but COME ON!!!!! How long does it take to straighten your hair, put on the pants, shirt and go???? So Jim wasn't too happy about that and started with the "she better get motivated to move in the mornings or there is no way in HE!! that I am pulling her @$$ out of school for a *&%$#*% week for vacation" ! - If she keeps it up, there is no way they will allow her to be out for a week :sad2:

So that is why I am starting to get upset/nervous. He told me that and I got really quiet.....and after we got off the phone.....I'll admit it - I cried :guilty: Because I really want/need this vacation. That may sound selfish, but darn it, the mini vaca to the GWL in December was nice, but nothing beats our April/May gig!!!!

In addition to that, I am certain that this will be the last year we will be able to pull the kids out of school because the agenda/curriculum is going to be harder with Kait in 8th, Court in 4th and Frank in 1st next year.
