I'll be working on it for a while. Please try to keep the chatter down to a low roar so I don't have another 10 pages to catch up on by the time I am finished!

I have to ask Bubba's mom do you do SFGADV in NJ ? Just wondering if you were on anyone of the message boards for that park. I am thinking I have seen the name somewhere else just not sure where ? It could also be that I was here a lot in the past planning my trip to WDW last summer and am just a little crazy :rotfl:

DH really doesn't like Six Flags in NJ...we went a couple times years ago...let's just say it's not "his thing" and leave it at that :rolleyes1

I usually don't post on the 'Disney' side of the DIS, but you may have seen me over there  ....anything is possible ;)

well, i thought is was his depression that drove him to this point.
it over powers all logic when you are severly ill.
you don't realize the decisions people make when they are depressed.
it would blow your mind.

Loved it Barb! They look like they are very close.

What is the deal with you guys? Do you like to make me tear up and cry?????

Okay so you guys are all now going to see how far behind I was!

Hey, lookie...

Snow4.jpg

They got it right! We got snow! French toast, anyone?

Still haven't closed our schools for tomorrow, but it's only a matter of time. It is sticking to the roads, so unless the temps climb a few degrees and stop the freezing, we're stuck for a day. :woohoo: Joshua needs a sleep-in day at home. Okay, I need for Joshua to have a sleep-in day at home.

BTW, I'm drinking a rum & coke. Haven't had one in AGES. Possible PUI on the horizon.

Is Raven gonna yell at me for missing American Idol? The kids are playing Smart Cycle and won't give up the tv... :confused3

I guess congratulations???? I am glad that you got the sleep in day for Joshua though. The snow I can do without!

Tricia..I am jealous!!!! I soo want snow!!

I just don’t understand. I never want to see the stuff, unless of course I have gone to the mountains for a fun weekend sitting by a fire in a log cabin.

Loved the pics. That cat is so cute.

Cool! You found french toast!

They just cancelled school for our County tomorrow. Knew they would. You get 6 snowflakes in a row and they shut the place down. Okay, that isn't fair. I know people like to make fun of how we can't handle an inch of snow around here, but the reality is that we don't get it often enough for our local and/or county and/or state goverment, DOT, whatever to invest in the equipment to keep the roads clear. We don't get practice driving on it, so many people slide all over the place. It really isn't safe to travel in any kind of winter weather around here.

Oh, and I've got a good buzz going... :rolleyes1

We have the same driving problems here. Unfortunately the school officials go out to see it they can drive on it. If they can get from their houses to the schools they decide it is safe for the busses to run and have school. Of course the busses do handle differently. This is when I determine whether or not my children will go regardless of the fact the school is open.

Nope, I never did. And since I've been drinking and you're asking...

When we left to make the drive to Nashville, we headed due north. From where we live, due north means heading over the mountains. No biggie, but Daniel seemed to have some car sickness issues. He kept saying, "Mouth, Mommy. Mouth hurt. Tummy, Mommy. Tummy hurt." and I'd look at him and he was swallowing hard and often. He was queasy. No doubt about it. In fact, we pulled over a couple of times to let his system settle. He never got sick, but I think we came close a time or two.

SO, for the drive back, we decided to go to Chattanooga, then head south, then east... driving home UNDER the moutain ridge line instead of east from Chattanooga, then south (which would have put us over the mountains). I hope that makes sense. Anyway, I'm the navigator. I'm holding the atlas and telling Brad what roads to take. We get to a small town and he sees a sign for a (somewhat) nearby town and he moves over into the turn lane to head that way.

Me: "Why are you turning left here?"
Brad: "This leads us to Ellijay. I know how to get home from Ellijay."
Me: "I'm looking at the map. This road is a tiny red line that heads into the green shaded area of the mountains. We need to stay on this road for another 2 miles then head east."
Brad: "I'm already committed."
"Because you are in a turn lane?"
"It'll be fine."
We make the turn. Big warning signs about Steep Grade ahead... No Trucks... No passing... etc.
Me: "I really think it would be worth it to turn around and head down the road a couple of miles."
Brad: "It'll be fine."
"Whatever this is, we're going to be stuck on it for 23 miles."
"It'll be fine." (now delivered in an irritated tone of voice)

The road was horrible. Two lanes carved into the side of a mountain with no guardrails. We couldn't do more than 25 to 35 miles per hour for most of it. Thank goodness Daniel slept through it.

He may NEVER live that one down. :headache:  :rolleyes1

MEN! I love it when they give us something to hold over them.

I want some SNOW !!! We were suppose to get a pretty big snow here and all we got was rain  . I live in NYC and can remember the days of really big storms like 12 inches or more . now we are lucky if we even get a dusting around here.

Again, why???????

Oh yeah, I never did get to welcome you. So here is a belated WELCOME!!!!

Anyways..spoke with mom. Apparently dad's doing better but I was wrong that they would know for sure stuff today. (Although we don't know bad stuff so that's good!). Sounds like there's a chance they'll let him out tomorrow, but he'll be coming back every day for bloodwork and labs for awhile. If things still look good after a week, then it should be good. If not, then he may have to come in for dialysis regularly too. But it definitely sounds like things are going good and assuming he gets out tomorrow, somewhat back to normal at home too. Keep your fingers crossed!

Glad to hear your dad is doing better. Hope everything stays that way.

how are your bucket lists coming along???????

come on now....think.......

whatcha wanna do before you go?

there has to be at least 1 thing you all want to do...

here is another for me....
maybe try buffalo meat. MAYBE.

and another would be.....
drive a stock car once around a nascar track. or, ride with Darrell Waltrip just once. then throw up. or laugh my butt off.

Okay here is a little;

I want to go to a Nascar race, Tricia style
I want cruise the Greek Isles
I want to return to Hawaii and tour all of the islands, not just Oahu
I want to meet all of my homies in the motherland for a homie meet
I want to spend an entire summer in Orlando/Vero Beach
I want to spend a Christmas in a log cabin in the mountains
I want to do something to make our world a better place
I want to go to New York and see as many Broadway musicals as humanly possible
I want to be able to fund Give Kids the World trips

If I think of more I will add to my list.

Okay, vent ahead! I just looked over my pay statements because at work today my boss mentioned something about a raise. Well, my pay is confusing because I work hourly weekly, but get paid salaried twice a month. I pulled out my pay statement I got yesterday and...surprise!! My new paycheck is now LESS than my old one!

It wasn't hard to do the math and figure out what they did. They raised my pay by $1 an hour, but reverted back to when I was working 18 hours a week and decided to pay me for that, despite the fact that I'm now working 22 hours a week. :confused3

Yes, I'm sure we'll work it out tomorrow when I go in and complain to my boss. But you'd think that since I work at a FINANCE company, where they spend all their time handling other people's MONEY, that they'd at least be able to calculate a pay statement. :rotfl: This is like the third time I've found errors in it (and so far not a single one has been to my benefit!). Wait, maybe that's how they make money! :rolleyes1

Well, yeah you would think a finance company could get their pay checks right. Sure doesn’t make it any easier to go in every day does it?

read the wedding trip return drive home.

that freaks me right out. :scared:

when we visited Utah a couple of years ago we drove up some canyon to check out a ski area. mind you, it was summer and there were like NO GUARDRAILS anywhere and he was driving and I said never, never again.
this year, he can drive up it himself or maybe there is a bus.
I AINT riding shotgun and looking down. I will ride in an airplane but i dont really like looking out windows more than 3 stories. last sept at the Dolphin I called 4 times to make sure we were never above the 3rd floor. and when we at at the top floor of the contemporary(cali grill) we got seated right away one night because i said we needed to be well away from the windows.....he is not a real height fan either....

Not me, not doing it. I would kill my dh. Did the folks at the Dolphin mention it when you checked in?

You guys actually WANT snow?

Yeah, I don’t understand either. We don’t get it very often but I sure don’t want it.

Thanks for sharing your story! I needed a good laugh!
We had a somewhat similar situation back when GPS systems were new. We were on our way to a wedding in VT. I am usually the navigator, but DH had a newfangled gift called a GPS. He thought the GPS was God's gift to drivers and way better than a map. Well, back then, the maps Garmin were using were not that good in unpopulated areas. I had brought the map cause I wasn't ready to trust the GPS.
So it's now around 7:00 PM, and we are in the mountains, we are supposed to be going thru a notch in said mountains.
But the GPS (Gertrude) said to take a right off the highway. No way can GPS be wrong, right?
So, off we go to the right, after about 2 miles, there is no more center line and the road is doing a switch back thing around the mountain. After another harrowing mile or so, we end up at a trailhead to a firetower. :rotfl2:
So guess what, back down and around we go, this time going even slower as we are descending down a steep incline and the brakes are heating up.
Gertrude ended up in the backseat, and we continued on thru the notch following my trusty map.
I was so glad this was in the summer, so no snow to deal with.
Even now, 3 GPS units later, I still take along a map! But, I will admit, the new ones are really alot better.

Maps are a good thing. Actually I do most of our driving. Dh really likes to try to agitate me when he is driving so he doesn’t get to very often if I am in the car.

My son James was bothering by carsickness for years. From about 4 years to 12 years. It was so bad he couldn't ride for more than 1/2 hour. He would actually be physically sick to his stomach. We always had a roll of paper towels and a bucket in each car. His Dr prescribed Claritin (the allergy med) for him. Worked like a charm, as long as we had 1/2 an hour notice.
The first time he was bothered with it was when we were at WDW when he was 4. It was horrible. He couldn't go on any rides that spun around. Just getting from WDW back to MCO was a trip in itself. We had to stop every 10 minutes or so and let him walk around. I felt so bad for him. It did get him out of that hour long bus ride back and forth to school thou!

That started happening to Mikey when he was about 5 or 6. We were driving to Branson, taking the scenic route and I thought we were going to have to stop. We never went that way again.

Why? (can you tell I'm Canadian?) Snow is pretty for about 15 minutes and then it needs to leave.

Snow is pretty for about 15 minutes if it is somewhere other than where I am.

According to my Weather Channel toolbar, we currently have 28 degrees, with "Unknown Precipitation"!

?????? Did they ever figure out what was falling?

Okay, this is it for tonight. I will be going through more once I get in bed while trying to fall asleep. Maybe I can get most of it done before morning and be able to stick it in here first thing!
