Evening everyone!

Just flying by real quick....

Happy Belated Birthday to Carol and Sharon!

Hopefully I will be able to be on more over the weekend!

Happy Friday!

Radiation causes cancer. Just ask the folks that tested the Atomic bomb or the fallout victims from Chernobyl. Radiation therapy works to treat cancer too. They administer it in a controlled environment and all that, but it says on all stuff that there is a slight chance that over time, your treatment to kill the current cancer may, in fact, cause you to have cancer later.[/ At the time you receive treatment, it's like, "I've got cancer, so whatever it takes to get rid of it, do it. I'll deal with the unlikely side effects if I have to later." KWIM?

That's just great, It will be a year on X-mas eve since my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had radiation. She goes in for her one year mammogram next week.

We DO NOT get the NFL Channel. :headache:

We DO NOT either. DH is not too happy. Me, not so important.

Barb - I found it helped if I took video or pictures of the game. It gave me less time to stress, cause I was always trying to follow that darn puck with the camera.

Yeah, I get especially frustrated when my boss says "I'm not explaining it AGAIN!" I'm kind of like "Okay, I realize I'm the third person here in three months, and that you've explained it twice before. But you kind of need to explain it to me ONCE at least!"

Try working for a family business. I have 4 bosses: husband, wife, daughter and son who all own the company. That leaves just 3 of us to get blamed for all their screw ups.

Bit of good news here in my household. James was accepted at his first choice college!!
It's the one in Daytona. Only an hour from Orlando! But his 2nd choice college is still in the running. He's really not sure which one he wants. The second one is in MA, not much of a vacation destination...:lmao:

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! :grouphug:
Did I tell you all that when I got home from Florida at midnight, my son and daughter had made a birthday cake for me and had it all ready with candles. They had even cleaned up their mess in the kitchen. All I wanted to do was go to bed as I had to be at work the next morning, but I was good and ate some cake and opened their present. It was nice for a change that they were not all about themselves.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having trouble finding the perfect ornament!

Tricia - make sure you take the time to eat some healthy meals. And try to get some sleep. It's easy to get run down when you are trying to hold the family together and also take care of the business and your boys at the same time.

HEY, you all can't go to bed and leave me here talking to myself!
Oh well, guess it's time for me to hit the sack too. Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. :lmao:

Good luck to your mom, just keep thinking positive thoughts.

If I remember correctly Barb is working for a family business. That stinks!

We do get the NFL channel and this game just seems to have gone on forever! Didn't know however that we did get the NFL channel. :confused3

Way to go to the DS!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! :grouphug:

Well I jumped back in one last time for the night since the game is still on.

Nite everyone!

Good Grief People - I had to read 6 pages!!!

Marci and Barb - your job situation sux. Maybe you should use duct tape on the boss. Hope you both find something better soon.:)

Marci - we don't leave the house with washer/dryer/dishwasher on. Once in a while, I will sneak the dishwasher or washer, but never the dryer.

Sharon - great pics of your trip - makes me long for the warm days - the pool looked so inviting.

Congrats to Penny and DM for their milestone posts. (See my pitiful number)

BREAKING NEWS:
Ty Pennington and Extreme Makeover - Home Edition is in my town this week.    I don't know the family but they are living in a 600 square foot house. They did the opening yesterday and sent the family to Disney World for the week. Demolition of the house is scheduled for Saturday. I don't know if we'll get to see it due to timing of other things going on Sat.

It sure is a shame that is 40 degrees - would love to see Ty without his shirt on ala the old Trading Spaces.

Let me repeat - TY IS IN MY TOWN THIS WEEK!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

Hopefully I will be able to be on more over the weekend!

Happy Friday!

That's good to hear....maybe you'll post that HALLOWEEN picture sometime before Christmas?? :rolleyes1

(uh....no....we didn't forget! ;) )

That's just great, It will be a year on X-mas eve since my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had radiation. She goes in for her one year mammogram next week.

I hope it doesn't cause it to come back.... :goodvibes You know what they say...."prepare for the worst, expect the best" ;) And you know...I've been thinking about the whole "radiation treatment that gives you cancer down the road" thing..... My thought is this: if it can buy you some time, that's better than nothing, right? :confused3 Like, instead of being diagnosed with the cancer and having a year or so, doing the radiation treatment might "buy you" say, 5 years or so.....I'd much rather take the 5 than the 1. :) Does that make sense??

Barb - I found it helped if I took video or pictures of the game. It gave me less time to stress, cause I was always trying to follow that darn puck with the camera.

Yeah....DH already took that job! :headache: He started the fall season taping and we were just really taping for memories for ourselves....well, then he thought about making a 'hilite video' for everyone on the team, that's when he started shooting most of the game....and 'zooming in' on at least each player at sometime during the season! ...so, a GREAT idea...but DH beat me to it :guilty: (like i mentioned last night....I think i just need more than 1 glass of wine (to relax) prior to his games... )

Try working for a family business. I have 4 bosses: husband, wife, daughter and son who all own the company. That leaves just 3 of us to get blamed for all their screw ups.

As Lori mentioned, I DO work for a 'family' business....well, it IS incorporated, but it's a husband & wife who own/run the business out of their home. Who can you complain to when it's the owners of the company creating the 'hostile work environment'? :confused3

Bit of good news here in my household. James was accepted at his first choice college!!

:woohoo:  :woohoo:  Congrats!!! Go for Daytona! Go where it's warm! Go where the family can vacation (cheaply)..... That really is good news! (My ex sister-in-law used to work in Daytona...they lived in New Smyrna Beach...about 20 minutes south....beautiful area. NSB is like Daytona, but a lot less "party" and more "family friendly" ;) )

That sounds very nice...good job kids! :thumbsup2 A nice "family" time together..... :grouphug:

:rotfl: I didn't know WE got it either! Flipped it on just before 1/2time to catch score....but didn't watch it...

 :rotfl: I still have my other job in the meantime...so I'm :thumbsup2 Still looking tho.....

bye  We'll miss you! :guilty: But, we know while you're taking ALL those pictures, you'll be thinking of us! (make sure to take a 'potty' shot for Tricia! )

I know how forgetful you are when it comes to taking pictures...so, stop having so much fun for once and TAKE US SOME PIX!!! :rolleyes1

I'm sure there is no crisis...Ma has been good lately, right?

and...guess we'll all know who your "orn-buddy" is when she is the only one who didn't get one on time.... :headache: (hey...it's the thought that counts...right?)

Have a wonderful time...and I can't wait to hear all about it! :thumbsup2

Okay, somebody up there heard us and gave me and mine a break. Last word on my oldest sister... she had a piece of steak lodged in her throat. Where it was, she couldn't get it up or down... hence the coughing fit for 2 days. They sedated her, removed it, and are keeping her for observation this morning because her blood pressure is very high. She should be home this afternoon. Thank heavens!

Barb - I'm squinting my eyes when I read your posts about Bubba in goal. I feel your mommy-pain! Way to go Bubba's team on winning the game and way to go Barb on 8700 posts!!! :cheer2:

Marcie - I think I would have to say something to the boss about things not having been explained to YOU yet. Of course, if you are looking for a different job and think you'll find one, then it might be a better punishment to let the boss remain a clueless idiot who will chase away yet another good employee. :rolleyes1

Lori - Thanks for the hugs and thoughts. I got my freaking break!

Katie - Happy Friday to you too!

Sharon - If I understand the stuff I've read, the risks of developing cancer from radiation treatments are very small. Carol is a very, very rare case. The horrible thing is, you are considered a "cancer survivor" at the 5 years post treatment point. The cancer caused by radiation usually shows up in the 5 to 7 years post treatment. So, we had just celebrated Carol's survivor status and, wham, less than a year later she's diagnosed with this.

Jennifer - I thought Ty was hot, if a little odd and hyper, way back when on Trading Spaces. If you can catch him shirtless, snap me a pic! Will you know when the show airs? It'll probably be on your local news or something. Let me know and I'll be sure to watch. We see it sometimes anyway because my boys seem to enjoy the demolition phase.

DM- I wish I could say that they will catch the punks and you'll get your stuff back, but odds are against it. Sad and sickening. :sad2:

Janet - Have an absolutely fabulous (ab fab... loved that show... ) trip! Take lots of pics, we won't be bored! I'm having all the family crisis necessary, so you don't have to!

Oh, and I forgot, Barb you asked about my mom. Deb asked if Mom would come over there and stay on Tuesday and she's been there every night since. Carol is having a really bad time this round and Deb doesn't want to leave her alone, so she let's Mom keep an eye on her when she needs to go to the bathroom, eat, or just take a break. I took a shift on Wednesday and will again tonight. It's bad. It's really, really bad.

I have plans to go to a party tomorrow night. Old friends, so it should be a good time. I have a date with my BFF to be my escort (Leta, whom I've known since *ahem* Band Camp in 1979) since Brad will more than likely have to watch the kids. I don't think Mom will be able to leave Carol.

Mom wants to go shopping AGAIN today, so I may not be around much. Then again, Daniel keeps telling me his tummy hurts, so we may not be going anywhere.

Tricia - Just wanted to let you know that I am hurting for you & Carol too. Your posts just bring tears to my eyes, reminds me of watching my grandmother go through all that pain.:grouphug:

Jennifer - I would love to see that pic of Ty too. Think you could convince him to take of his shirt for your buddies in a box?????

DM - That sucks! Hope Santa brings you lots of those goodies back.

Barb - Wish I could say that those mommy worries over the sports will go away but after all these years and all these kids I have to tell you that it does not get better.:headache:

Janet - Have fun! Lots of pics since I have never been on a cruise, need to see and hear all about it so I can live through you!

Morning all! Have a great Friday!!!!

It sure is a shame that is 40 degrees - would love to see Ty without his shirt on ala the old Trading Spaces.

I like Carter Oosterhouse better. He has a new show now, although I have not seen it yet.

Oh la la!

bye-bye!:) :

It might still make it in time. Sounds like it's worth waiting for! :thumbsup2 Have a wonderful time on your trip! we'll be thinking of you.

Yep, it makes lots of sense. In my mom's case, chemo was not going to help her as much as the radiation, plus there are very few side effects.

[Yeah....DH already took that job! :headache: He started the fall season taping and we were just really taping for memories for ourselves....well, then he thought about making a 'hilite video' for everyone on the team, that's when he started shooting most of the game....and 'zooming in' on at least each player at sometime during the season! ...so, a GREAT idea...but DH beat me to it :guilty: (like i mentioned last night....I think i just need more than 1 glass of wine (to relax) prior to his games... )

Wine sounds good! Maybe you can tuck a flask into your jackett? J/K. How about if you keep the stats for the team? Or use the good old standby - close your eyes!

Okay, somebody up there heard us and gave me and mine a break. Last word on my oldest sister... she had a piece of steak lodged in her throat. Wow, who would have guessed? Thank God that is all that is wrong.

Glad to hear its pretty rare. But at the same time, I'm so sorry for what your sister has to go thru. Glad she has loving family around her to take care of her needs.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the party, and can forget about Carol just for a moment.
DM - That sucks! Hope Santa brings you lots of those goodies back.
That reminds me, remember when my purse was stolen out of my office back in August. Well, two of the SOB's have plead guilty to that and other thefts and are awaiting sentencing.
Boss number 3 just walked in, time to sign off. Have a great day everyone!
