So, if y'all would quit yakin' for let's see...um.....I don't know......about an hour....I can get a word in & ketchup!!!

HEY!!! Thanks everyone!!

I "ketchuped"....how'd I do????

I did notice Tricia was unusually quiet today (guessing cuz it was Carol's birthday) and mac was runnin' a mile a minute.... (musta gave that boy somethin' good to sleep!)

Okay, so I'm about finished "ketchup-ing" an hour later :headache: (thank goodness for laptops...and sittin' on the sofa w/ the tv on :rolleyes1 )

Anyhow.... I loved BOTH birthday poems for Carol.... together, we have one master songwriter! :thumbsup2

As for the job....looong story....won't bore you with..... Last I worked was the Monday before Thanksgiving (only work there Mon & Wed now--since they told me I couldn't work Thurs. anymore [again, long story]).... I was off Wed before T-Day & this past Monday cuz Bubba had no skool. Jist of the job: I deserve more $$, they told me that they are not being "profitable" enuf to give me $1/hr more (yeah right), they didn't believe something I told them, and a couple weeks ago when I called off on a Wed. to stay home w/ Bubba when he was sick, it was that next day they told me I wasn't going to be working Thursdays anymore....I wanted to know why. I was told the 'dependable' people were given the hours. :confused3  Okay, so I have the MOST seniority in that office (2.5 yrs) and I'm being treated like one of the new hires....They've had 5 good people quit THIS YEAR alone....now, who is right? The 5 who smartened up and quit or them :scratchin They would LOVE to fire me, but know I'd march straight to unemployment AND they KNOW I'd win....and they HATE to pay unemployment, so, they are creating a 'hostile work environment' trying to get me to quit. So, I used to work 3x/wk there, now I'm down to 2x/wk and that's just not gonna cut it. So, I'm looking for someplace else...in the meantime....I'm stuck there :headache: :headache: I guess the good news is I have another day off to take care of holiday shopping and preparations

Okay...now I'm all ketchup'ed....off to bed...big day of shopping and soccer game tomorrow night.....

Catch you all in the morning......(there seem to be a lot of "morning birds" on this thread...I am NOT a morning person....I'm more of a night person!)

Nite y'all....

Yep...we watched 'em both....Shrek was funnie! We loved the part when Puss in Boots was batting the ornament ball :rotfl2: SO many funnie things about that show.... Glad to see a new Christmas special...hopefully that will be to Bubba's generation what Charlie Brown is to ours! (uh, did I mention, Bubba learned about "analogies" today in skool?)

alright, fess up.....you snuck over here :tiptoe: and heard Jim say the SAME EXACT THING about Shrek the Halls!!!!! Freaky cool!!!!

/
shrek probably had subliminal messaging "you will like this show, it will become iconic";) ; used to do it in commercials.

barb - a pox on your employer! luv the fridge icon:) was good, only 1/2 a bowl of chips HA

Unless it's delicates, i start my washer overnight & dry it in the am (or the next evening-depending on how non-wrinkleable the items were); carryover from my working girl days. I leave the crockpot, roaster & oven on low when i'm out & about too.

time to get packing:rolleyes1

Morning all!!!

(sorry about the "mini-novel" this morning :rolleyes1 ...but I HAD to ketchup!)

alright, fess up.....you snuck over here :tiptoe: and heard Jim say the SAME EXACT THING about Shrek the Halls!!!!! Freaky cool!!!!

   That IS freaky cool!   Honest tho....I was here....didn't sneak over..... (I was the only parent home after 7:45 last nite) Tell Jim that 'great minds think alike'! :thumbsup2

.... I leave the crockpot, roaster & oven on low when i'm out & about too.

time to get packing:rolleyes1

Oh yeah...I'll leave the crock on...not the oven, and we don't own a roaster..... (& you all thought I actually cooked!)

Get packing

Goodness, I missed some yakkity-yak!

I have read everything and I LOVED the birthday poems for Carol. I copied and printed them out and I'll give them to her next week when she starts coming down from the chemo.

I think somebody asked where she is in the chemo schedule. This is round 3 of 6 scheduled treatments. Almost halfway through. I guess that's good, but Christmas will SUCK for her. We've already scheduled our family Christmas party for the week after Christmas.

Somebody asked about chemo and radiation. They do get lumped together because often they are both done at the same time to treat cancer. Radiation is where they "zap" the cancer with radiation to kill it. Chemo is usually administered by I.V. and it is medication that travels through the bloodstream to kill the cancer.

My sister's cancer is a rare form that was caused by the radiation treatments she received 6 years ago when she had breast cancer.

I'm off to shower and take Mom shopping... AGAIN. I'll try to check in later. I'm thinking about all of you guys and I really, really, REALLY appreciate all the thoughts and words you guys give me here... and letting me vent a little fear and frustration over Carol's situation. It matters. It helps. You guys are wonderful.

Sorry...that was my 12 posts of "yakkity-yak"... but in my defense, I was "ketchuping" ;)

Maybe your "goofy friends in the box's" poems will give Carol a much needed laugh :confused3  Hey...it's gotta do something...right?

I didn't know your "treatment" for cancer could actually give you cancer....again? :confused3 What's up with that??? No wonder she feels so miserable....Ya do something to HELP yourself, and end up right back where you started..... That sux..... :guilty:

Happy shopping...I'm off too..... sans "Mother" (& child) tho ;)

Don't you ever forget we're here for you..... you can vent or (when the time comes) celebrate all you want.... that's what friends "in the box" are for! :grouphug: It's a tough thing to deal with and everyone needs someone..... especially when you're a SAHM and don't have "co-workers" to help you thru on a daily basis..... :grouphug:

Eh, I'm gettin' mushy....I'm outta here.... goin' shoppin'...catch y'all laters....

remember, Jessica Simpson took Tony Romo home for turkey dinner last week, gag me already,
and Brett is on a roll. I 'll bet the loudest cheers come from Marcie's House!:cool1:

Here are a few photos from my long weekend at Lago Mar.
There's no time to do a proper trippie, plus it was an adult weekend, so much of what happened I don't want to print, or show photos of! :rotfl2:

We basically arrived on Friday at lunch time and didn't leave the resort all weekend until we left for home on Monday night:goodvibes except to go to dinner at my cousin's mcmansion. :goodvibes

There was a jelly fish warning up all weekend, so that kinda sucked. I love swimming in the warm ocean water. DH did go in for a bit to cool off, but I got stung once as a kid and it hurt like @#@@#, so I stayed clear of the water.

It was my birthday that week-end, it seems like everyone we met bought me a drink!  At one time, I had 5 upside down glasses on the bar waiting for me. Needless to say, I wasn't feeling any pain that night! :rolleyes1

Okay, I'm trying to respond quickly here, but either my computer or my internet provider is being REALLY stupid and keeps timing out. :confused3 And my toolbars are all messed up on the top of my screen - have to wait until the kids are home to fix it for me!

Penny - yes, at least we do get the game tonight here! They even cancelled boys' basketball at the high school for it! Be a good night to go shopping or something like that without crowds, but I'm sure we'll be in front of the TV like everyone else around here! Unfortunately, I'm just a little bit concerned :scared: about how we'll do - especially since it's been SO long since we've played the Cowboys and since it's an away game. This is the kind of "do or die" game - if they can pull this off, they can do anything - at least up to the Superbowl (Pats still scare me!). If they lose this one, it'll still be a good season, but we probably won't even get to the Superbowl!

Okay guys - I appreciate your insights into the washer/dryer. Glad to know at least my parents haven't completely lost it, but honestly it's something I never even considered. And Mac - I love your idea of collecting lint for the campfire. Think we'll start that now and have a good stock for next summer! But maybe we'll store it out in the garage instead of in the house! ;)

We taped Shrek, but it was on at a really bad time for us (7-7:30 here) since one kid has religious ed until 7:15 and the others go then so we were driving in the 7:15-7:30 range. Guess we won't be catching up on it tonight due to the Packers and then we'll be behind on CSI and tomorrow's Degrassi - guess we'll be really far behind. I didn't really like the CSI last week (the "game" one), but DS12 and 14 were giggling like crazy at it so I guess they did. We've been CSI fans for awhile it seems, but I know we weren't in on it at the beginning like a lot of you - but I think we've caught up on most of them on reruns. Why don't they have a CSI Scene It game or some kind of Trivia Pursuit for CSI? :confused3 I know they have the stupid reinactment type games (like last week's show!), but we have one and it's fairly stupid (not to beat that word into the ground!).

Barb - sorry about the job situation. I'd definitely be looking elsewhere too! Well actually I still am. This new job I'm doing, they've also had 3 other people quit or be fired in the past year and I'm understanding why. There's just minimal guidance and then when you do something wrong, you get yelled at. I'm sorry, but when an insurance agent (who's been one for many years) submits an application to me and I mail it into the correct company, and then they come back to us and something was signed in the wrong place or a wrong box was checked (and it's usually something fascinating that I don't understand like "death benefits - level or increasing"), then I don't understand why I get yelled at for not noticing that the box was checked wrong. We deal with about a zillion agents and a whole lot of companies with tons of different products and there's no way even after 3 months now that I've seen every form. Let alone know how exactly it should be filled out. You'd think the agents would be the ones who should know that, but no, it's all my fault! Yep, still looking around!

Well, that's as far back as I can go without looking so I'll post now and then scroll back! How do you guys keep your font sizes to stay big? Do you just highlight and change the size each time? I always forget to and then when I try to edit I don't get that option!

Okay, 2 more quick comments before I head off to Walmart (joy!) and work (double joy!)!

I guess I just have a weird husband because he's definitely the ornament person in our family! I already have about 4 bags of ornaments he's bought this season, and he already warned me that if I see any I want I'd better check with him first! And we need ornaments to badly  In general we manage to get about 1/3 of the ones we have on the tree anyways! I'll pick out a few cute ones after Christmas when they get to 75 percent off, but not now!

And the wart removal, part 1, went okay. We bought the $25 kit at CVS and you just basically freeze it for 15 seconds and then wait a couple weeks and see what happens, and then repeat. Did unfortunately notice though while I was treating that one that he has ANOTHER one on the same finger, but the warnings said not to do 2 in too close of an area or it could possible cause blindness?! So we'll work on the big one! I know, I know, TMI! Catch you guys later!

What'd you buy?

i bought 3 boxes of caffe latte for son #1. i pay $4.29 for it at Jewel grocery store and Big Lots had it for $2 each....:thumbsup2

Did he survive? If so, how is he these days? Is this the same brother you had issues with but are going to "patch things up" with the driving the parents to the wedding....or different brother??

ok sick brother lives in hawaii. we see each other once a year. this year is my turn to go to hawaii, thinking early april again.
since i am going to see him again, he survived. :rotfl:
his life is not good but he hopes to move to florida in 5 years. he's hanging in there for that. this brother is single, no children. i'm all he has.

the bad brother is the one with the son getting married.
i'm starting to think i got skunked again. haven't heard back from this brother since i said i would chauffer.

Need to slip more sleeping pills to the boy .... :rolleyes1

if anyone is going to hit the ambien, it will be me......:rolleyes1
but at this point they don't work anymore.

well..... :confused3

we're waiting..... :surfweb:

i forgot the question :scared:

And that "big dog" would be YOU....don't think I didn't notice that you rolled over 30K :thumbsup2

I didn't know your "treatment" for cancer could actually give you cancer....again? :confused3 What's up with that??? No wonder she feels so miserable....Ya do something to HELP yourself, and end up right back where you started..... That sux..... :guilty:

each cancer is so different and people in treatment react differently to treatments. i can't comment on Carol's cancer treatment but can my brothers.
he developed a sore throat that lasted 3 weeks. went to the doc, given meds. after 2 weeks, went back, did blood tests and a scan. found cancer tumors in his jaw, face and neck. surgery done with in days after that.

i was told only 5000 people have the type of cancer he had each year. treatment was iffy. he wasn't a candidate for chemo but radiation. they removed all of his lymph nodes but one and the tumors.
he has had the limit a person can have with radiation. so if it comes back, it will be a sad situation.
the radiation he had has caused other medical problems. calcification in the arteries. more surgery for that. now his nerves are starting to rejuvenate in the neck and head/side of face. it makes him ill, and painful. he has his dope for that. his voice is no longer steady. just side effects from the radiation.

we take a one day at a time.
i call him to have him save the $$ on calling me.
i signed up for that at & t call pack and no longer have long distance charges. woo hoo.....

i'm sure that is more info than you wanted to know.

marcie, we used the kit for wart removal about 4 different times.

ended up having the doctor remove them.

wish you luck you have better success than we did with it.

does mr ornament husband also put up the tree?
