I took most of the photos early in the morning on our way to walk the beach, plus it's off season. The only time I can afford to go there. :upsidedow

Here are a few photos from my long weekend at Lago Mar.

It was my birthday that week-end, it seems like everyone we met bought me a drink!  At one time, I had 5 upside down glasses on the bar waiting for me. Needless to say, I wasn't feeling any pain that night! :rolleyes1

What beautiful pictures...looks like a lovely 'adult' place to relax.... :cloud9:

Oh, and..... ...by the sounds of it....it really was a "happy" birthday ;)

How do you guys keep your font sizes to stay big? Do you just highlight and change the size each time? I always forget to and then when I try to edit I don't get that option!

It's a "habit" after a while to change the font size before you start typing..... IF you forget and are trying to "edit" your post, you might have to click on "Go Advanced" next to the 'save'....that should help!

i bought 3 boxes of caffe latte for son #1. i pay $4.29 for it at Jewel grocery store and Big Lots had it for $2 each....:thumbsup2

That's certainly a good deal.... I remember Jewel grocery stores.... (I remember when I was little and we first moved there and went to Jewel.....we laughed at the shopping carts  we thought they wuz funnie lookin' :rotfl: )

ok sick brother lives in hawaii. we see each other once a year. this year is my turn to go to hawaii, thinking early april again.
since i am going to see him again, he survived. :rotfl:
his life is not good but he hopes to move to florida in 5 years. he's hanging in there for that. this brother is single, no children. i'm all he has.

the bad brother is the one with the son getting married.
i'm starting to think i got skunked again. haven't heard back from this brother since i said i would chauffer.

That is very sad about his medical condition.... why does he live SO far away if he's 'single'? :confused3 Isn't all his family back here? I know you said 5 years....but, uh.... why not now? (I'm thinking of a "whatcha waitin for" type thing) I hope he stays well....as if his "c" were to return, doesn't sound like he could handle.....

read back and figured out the question.

let's just say fireman are my best friend.
and the police were also on speed dial.

uh.....details? Someone stuck in a chimney and that's ALL you have to say?? :confused3  ....uh-uh......:sad2: .....need more.....

each cancer is so different and people in treatment react differently to treatments. i can't comment on Carol's cancer treatment but can my brothers.
he developed a sore throat that lasted 3 weeks. went to the doc, given meds. after 2 weeks, went back, did blood tests and a scan. found cancer tumors in his jaw, face and neck. surgery done with in days after that.

i was told only 5000 people have the type of cancer he had each year. treatment was iffy. he wasn't a candidate for chemo but radiation. they removed all of his lymph nodes but one and the tumors.
he has had the limit a person can have with radiation. so if it comes back, it will be a sad situation.
the radiation he had has caused other medical problems. calcification in the arteries. more surgery for that. now his nerves are starting to rejuvenate in the neck and head/side of face. it makes him ill, and painful. he has his dope for that. his voice is no longer steady. just side effects from the radiation.

My Uncle had throat cancer....operated and took part of his vocal chords.... now he talks "funnie" But, all is looking good....ironically, he was in 1 hospital having/recovering from surgery, while his wife was dying in another hospital ..... :sad2:

Hope you made out well today Tricia.....hope ya spent Ma's money :rotfl2:

Here's something I learned out shopping today....if you purchase something from Toys R Us online and return it to the store, you get store credit...no refund! So, bought some stuff and crossed 2 people off my list :rotfl: (still...won't be doing THAT again!)

Didja ever have one of those days where ya came across a lot of good deals? You went in a store expecting to buy something for 1 person, but bought something for 2, 3 or 4? Welp, that was me today! I either got a deal, got the "last one" or whatever.... it was a good, productive shopping day.... :goodvibes Even almost bought my ornament for the exchange....but was "checking a few things out" first..... :rolleyes1

Well, off to see a kitchen about a dinner before soccer game tonite..... might not be on till late tonite, but will try to come tuck ya's in....

gggrrrrr...dup post :headache:

sorry....

(still counts toward 'post count' tho, right? )

yup, all his family is back here.
he is uninsurable.

in hawaii, there is a law that all people are to be covered w/insurance even if they are uninsurable.

he runs his own company and can buy health insurance there but not here.
he figures he will sell his place and business in 5 years and make out very well.

yes, boys stuck in the chimney.

Wow....did not know that...interesting. I think more states need that "law" :scratchin I know Fla. has a law that a bank (or mortgage company) can't "take" your house and leave you homeless... :confused3 After he sells his business, then he'll be able to move to Florida AND afford insurance? ...or they won't cuz he's "pre-existing condition" :confused3

yes, boys stuck in the chimney.

Oh, and i forgot to mention earlier.... are we SURE that Jodie is at HRH??? I absolutely swear I saw her in Dick's Sporting Goods today :confused3 If it wasn't her...it was her twin!

Sorry...that was my 12 posts of "yakkity-yak"... but in my defense, I was "ketchuping" ;)

Maybe your "goofy friends in the box's" poems will give Carol a much needed laugh :confused3  Hey...it's gotta do something...right?

I didn't know your "treatment" for cancer could actually give you cancer....again? :confused3 What's up with that??? No wonder she feels so miserable....Ya do something to HELP yourself, and end up right back where you started..... That sux..... :guilty:

Happy shopping...I'm off too..... sans "Mother" (& child) tho ;)

Don't you ever forget we're here for you..... you can vent or (when the time comes) celebrate all you want.... that's what friends "in the box" are for! :grouphug: It's a tough thing to deal with and everyone needs someone..... especially when you're a SAHM and don't have "co-workers" to help you thru on a daily basis..... :grouphug:

Eh, I'm gettin' mushy....I'm outta here.... goin' shoppin'...catch y'all laters....

I was feeling mushy when I typed my stuff, so I'm glad I'm not the only one! :goodvibes

Radiation causes cancer. Just ask the folks that tested the Atomic bomb or the fallout victims from Chernobyl. Radiation therapy works to treat cancer too. They administer it in a controlled environment and all that, but it says on all stuff that there is a slight chance that over time, your treatment to kill the current cancer may, in fact, cause you to have cancer later. At the time you receive treatment, it's like, "I've got cancer, so whatever it takes to get rid of it, do it. I'll deal with the unlikely side effects if I have to later." KWIM?

remember , this game is NOT available for most of us. NFL channel at 815 eastern.

10-1 GREEN BAY
at
10-1 DALLAS

remember, Jessica Simpson took Tony Romo home for turkey dinner last week, gag me already,
and Brett is on a roll. I 'll bet the loudest cheers come from Marcie's House!:cool1:

We DO NOT get the NFL Channel. :headache:

Looks like a beautiful place! Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This new job I'm doing, they've also had 3 other people quit or be fired in the past year and I'm understanding why. There's just minimal guidance and then when you do something wrong, you get yelled at. I'm sorry, but when an insurance agent (who's been one for many years) submits an application to me and I mail it into the correct company, and then they come back to us and something was signed in the wrong place or a wrong box was checked (and it's usually something fascinating that I don't understand like "death benefits - level or increasing"), then I don't understand why I get yelled at for not noticing that the box was checked wrong. We deal with about a zillion agents and a whole lot of companies with tons of different products and there's no way even after 3 months now that I've seen every form. Let alone know how exactly it should be filled out. You'd think the agents would be the ones who should know that, but no, it's all my fault! Yep, still looking around!

Oh, don't you just LOVE it when you don't get instructed on how to do something correctly... you just get reprimanded when it is done wrong? That always makes so much sense! Hey, I'm a detail oriented person. Tell me what you want done and I'll do it. BUT if you don't tell me, then don't come back and say I did something wrong. Uh-uh.

we take a one day at a time.
i call him to have him save the $$ on calling me.
i signed up for that at & t call pack and no longer have long distance charges. woo hoo.....

i'm sure that is more info than you wanted to know.

They told Carol that less than 1% of all new cancers are sarcoma. I think the stats also said less than 1 out of every 1000 radiation patients develop cancer due to the treatment.

that place looks fantastic.
let's all drive down there for the weekend.....

Woo HOO! ROAD TRIP!!! :drive:

Hope you made out well today Tricia.....hope ya spent Ma's money :rotfl2:

Glad you made out good on your shopping. I still haven't found exactly the ornament I want for the exchange either. In fact, I'm getting a little frustrated as I though I had a couple of pretty simple ideas to choose from, but nothing is showing up in either of my themes. :headache:

Oh, and Mom did buy Joshua a new robe... which I would have had to buy if she hadn't... so, that's kinda like spending her money, right? :confused3

My mom just called me. My oldest sister... the one 3 hours south... is in the ER. She has been coughing for 2 days straight. Can't eat, drink or sleep... just coughing... and coughing up "stuff". This is from my 19 y/o niece who, as you might imagine, is in a panic and not the best at describing the situation. Mom wanted me to know so I'd be prepared if we have to drive to Warner Robins tomorrow.

Could somebody up there give me and mine a friggin break???

yikes, when will it stop:sad2:

i posted once, not sure where it wound up:confused3 bleary eyed i am

mac - at least your bro is in a pretty place, somewhere warm...I hear it's expensive as heck

marci - don't take any bs from a butt-head boss. Have you tried duct tape on the wart?

sharon - one of the prettiest pools i've ever seen, what a great place to enjoy your

barb - that flippin 'nanner icon was the best:thumbsup2

oh yeah, we have several NFL channels on Direct TVpopcorn:: , i like the classic station.

 Okay...the whole thing STILL just blows my mind! :confused3 Something about it just doesn't seem right.... :sad2: I'll tell ya tho....Carol has got ONE GREAT family to lean on....(i know it must be tough on you) you are doing a great job!

Mom did buy Joshua a new robe... which I would have had to buy if she hadn't... so, that's kinda like spending her money, right? :confused3

:thumbsup2 ::yes::

 Tell her she's jealous Carol is getting all the attention  BTW, I thought Mom lived with you guys...did she move back to Carols? :confused3

Janet....are you finished packing yet? :rolleyes1 Almost time! Almost time!

Home from soccer game.... Coach put Bubba in goal 1/2 way thru the game when we were up 1-0. Still, a nervous wreck (i think i need to drinky some vino before these games :scratchin ) Anyhow...good game...we won 5-2 :thumbsup2 One goal he couldn't do anything about....not his fault...the other? Well....the other, I just closed my eyes!

Hey, I'm a detail oriented person. Tell me what you want done and I'll do it. BUT if you don't tell me, then don't come back and say I did something wrong. Uh-uh.

Yeah, I get especially frustrated when my boss says "I'm not explaining it AGAIN!" I'm kind of like "Okay, I realize I'm the third person here in three months, and that you've explained it twice before. But you kind of need to explain it to me ONCE at least!"

Sorry to hear about your other sister. Let us know how that plays out - always fun to hear about things third-hand from someone who's stressed out. Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds.

Janet - we haven't tried anything else on the wart. Just noticed it late on Tuesday night and bought the kit on Wednesday. It says to wait 2 weeks, but if it doesn't look like it's doing anything, I'll try again after a week. We went through this a few times when the kids were little, and always had to go to the doctor, and I know we went back every 3-4 days, not 2 weeks. Oh, and I read your suggestion at first as using the duct tape on the BOSS, not the wart! :rotfl: Maybe not a bad suggestion!

Incidentally, for those of you without the NFL network, so far it's not very pretty! :sad2: 20-10 Cowboys right now and Brett just threw his second interception of the game and they think might be hurt! The first interception was like his first one in 190+ attempts or something so two that soon is pretty bad. I thought if I stopped watching for awhile it might help, but apparently not!

Speaking of which, all those of you who can't watch the game - is there a new CSI on? We have the game on CBS here so if it's a new CSI, evidently we don't have the option of watching it!

And I thought of someone's car story from the other day - meant to comment on. When DH bought his last car, it was back when the GM credit card was actually useful (before they changed all the rules!). We'd saved up over $5,000 credit on the card, plus my dad worked for GM and got a good discount (he still gets one now, but since he's retired it's much less), PLUS DH got a very end of model year car, PLUS it was a pretty lilac color, PLUS incentives. Ended up paying less than $5000 for the car, which we paid in cash. DH had that car for over 8 years, until it got totaled (not his fault). The insurance company paid us back $3000 for the car - so for $2000 he had a car for 8 years! Can't beat that!

Our last car has been the first time we've ever financed a car, so I'm still not too comfortable with that! And we'll still have payments on his (new) car until next October so that means an unprecedented 2 payments at a time for us for 7 months or so! Don't even get me into the two kids that I'm paying $200 each a month to the orthodontist to until next November (for one kid - much longer for the other!) Sigh!

Sharon - great pics! Yep, I'm jealous! They actually look like our pics from when we went to WDW in January and stayed at Coronado Springs. Of course it was in the 50's, but we have pics of the boys in the pools and the entire area is completely empty. I want to go on vacation - sob! (for those of you wondering why we don't, go back up a paragraph!)

Anyways, back to the now 27-10 Cowboys game, with Brett holding his arm on the sidelines. Not good! :sad1:

Okay...so 2 minutes to go in the 1/2 on the Dallas/GB game. I yell Marcie's update up to DH and he says, "Uh, we get that game. Channel 40." Well....I didn't know! :confused3 How about that??? Us and our crappy cable company gets THIS game! :lmao: :lmao: 27-17 Dallas at the half.

And yes Marcie....CSI is rerun :thumbsup2 (The one with the go-kart racer that died and the 'restaurant in the dark' killing.... )

Oh my gosh you guys sure have yaked a lot over the last two days!!!! I have read all and will comment on a little so the rest of you please don't get your fellings hurt! I love you all.

As long as I don't do the Marilyn Monroe to JFK version, I think I'm okay. She's my sister. That would just be... wrong.

She's pretty out of it tonight. I went over to wish her happy birthday, but she was already feeling sick when she went in for chemo again today so they doped her up more to control the nausea. I don't know how many of you have seen somebody go through this, but it is horrible. She told me last week that if it wasn't for all of us, she'd quit. She said that she knew giving up at this point would be totally selfish and we're all pulling for her, so she's sticking it out. When something makes you feel bad enough that you consider dying instead of going through it... it must be pretty dang major bad stuff. I told her that if it would do any good, I'd take a round or two for her. :sad1:

I am so sorry you are having to deal with all of this. You can always come vent to us. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Wacky laundry question for you all! Are you really not supposed to run your washer and/or dryer while you're not at home? :confused3 I left a load in the dryer (running) when we were at my folks' house this past weekend and when they came home you'd have thought there had been a murder or something! Is this really that bad? If I didn't do laundry when I wasn't home in our house, we'd never have any clean laundry! :rolleyes1 I'm usually really rushing to throw stuff in the washer/dryer before I run out the door so it has a chance to get done while I'm gone! I know once when I was a kid we had the washer overflow, so guess that's why they're paranoid about that, but the dryer? Just kind of threw me for a loop!

Dh's mom has fits about that too. I remember them coming by to pick us up to go to dinner one evening, years ago, and her telling us we had to turn off the dryer before we left. I snuck back in the house to get something after everyone loaded in to the van and turned it back on so that it would be done when we got home.

ok sick brother lives in hawaii. we see each other once a year. this year is my turn to go to hawaii, thinking early april again.

Someone give her a freakin break!!!!!!!:grouphug:

Rose - good luck with the win, hope you get your stuff soon.

Janet - Have a fabulous trip!!!!

Jodie - I hope you are enjoying your time at the HRH.

Katie & Mike - Hope you guys are feeling better soon.

Sharon - Looks and sounds like a fabulous trip.

Barb & Marcie - Sorry you guys are going through such crap at work. So glad I don't have a boss.

Tracie - Loved the knew Shrek show too show too and I totally agree about poor Charlie Brown. Where did Shultz get that stuff? Maybe he had someone do him that way.

Penny - Way to go on the 1500 posts!!!!!

DM - Just wanted to say hi! Have you heard anything else about the break-in?

Well the game doesn't look to good for the Packers. Seems kinda strange around here, seeing as how Dallas is the closest team to us, but the guys are all pulling for the Pack. Looks like Brett is out for the rest of the night.

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CAROL & SHARON.

I hope I didn't forget anyone. To our missing homies, please stop in and at least say hi! Gemma I'm really getting worried. Does anyone have an email address for her?

Nite all! Love ya!!!!

Hey Lori.... :wave2:

Well...3rd Q is almost over and score is 27-24 Dallas...and they said Brett is out and not coming back in....altho, he IS on the sidelines with a wrapped up arm :confused3

Well....have a good evening all....I'm off to bed! ;)

Catch ya in the morning.....
