welcome back mac!

Marcie - I'm no expert, but I'm learning WAY more about chemo than I ever wanted to. A port-a-cath is a device about the size of a thick quarter that is inserted under the skin and into a vein. Carol's is about midway between her collarbone and her left breast, so on the side of the chest with the heart. She then has a chemo device she wears on a belt around her waist (think of the the McDonald's drive-thru employee getups from a few years ago). It is attached to the port and the device has a pump that you can hear "hiss" every 2 minutes as it infuses the chemo into her bloodstream. That is the round-the-clock chemo she has for 5 days. Carol calls it her "chemo to go". She also has to go to the Cancer Center for a second chemo that is administered by IV. Takes about 4 hours for her to receive that one. She gets that 4 days this week, then gets a 2 week break. Sound like fun? Oh, yeah. Party time at Carol's house.

Katie - You got to beat your sister at a swim meet? How cool is that! Didn't you just get back from the Poconos? Brad & I did that once. We did the Ceasar's Resort with the champagne glass jacuzzi and everything. It was a *ahem* memorable weekend. :rolleyes1

Barb - That's it. BLAME ELMER. :p
I hope the homework isn't too tough on you guys. Mine is still of the "write your name using a capital letter at the beginning and the rest lower case" variety. I'm not looking forward to the real stuff when it hits. :scared:

Penny - I suddenly feel the need to clean my house some more.

I managed to get SOME of my bookkeeping done tonight. The month end credit card deposit is in... I reconciled the bank statement... and I paid the bills that were sitting here. I'll have to leave the quarterly stuff until tomorrow. I'm running out of steam... :faint:

Yeah Marcie you have to be careful leaving them home together, never know what they will do to each other. Good luck with that.

Katie - Thanks for the link. Love the trippie. Hope the root canal goes well.

Janet - Loved the new do!

Penny - You think those cleaning smilies can come clean my house?????

Mac - We sure missed you. So glad you are back home.

Tricia - Go take a hot bath & realx. You earned it.

Barb - Yes busy life here too. Don't know how I did it when I had all four of them home to run around with.

DM - Sorry, I really have no clue about the wine. I have never found one I like the taste of myself.

Allergies have been extreme here today. I had to take a nap this morning before I could motivate to do anything. Then met oldest dd at the mall to do some shopping. Went to the Children's Place and got Ally 14 pieces of clothing for $75! Everything was $4.99!;) Then went on and got Mikey to pair of jeans, an under armor shirt & shorts for the same amount. On to Walmart to pick up some groceries before heading back home. Have I mentioned that I hate Walmart? Anyway, head is still stuffy but I have had a nice relaxing soak in the tub.:cloud9:

I'm gonna head out for the night. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Penny, just wanted to chime in that although I don't post on this thread often, I do lurk and have been waiting for your update. I am so glad to hear that all is well and I sure hope you went out and celebrated!!!

You're the 2nd person to say that. Hmm

I'd 3rd that or I like Robert Mondavi ..... :goodvibes

Ohhh....look what the cat dragged in..... I'm bettin' you can't keep up with this thread...it really does move fast! :faint: ...I have a hard time myself during the week....but, no matter, you should drop in more often.....you're a 'regular' homie..... :thumbsup2

Well, CSI is over and so is my workout...DH's lunch is made, dishwasher set to run....guess it's time for bed :cloud9:

Nite all.....cya tomorrow...... ;)

Hey to Lori, Mac & Damo! I missed your posting last night.

Have any of you guys been on the CB this week? There is a really weird guy that just keeps posting random nonsense on several threads. How sad does ones life have to be before you reach a point that you would need to amuse yourself that way? :sad2:

I am off to the doctor this morning for my followup appointment. Hopefully, I will get the "everything is okay" and I don't have to get any further tests. Brad gets to watch Daniel at work while I'm gone, so won't he have fun!

morning all, brisk mid 40's here today (it was 90 on Sunday:sad1: ); all good things must end - NOT!

lori - i taped the DL show, did see the 1st few minutes; no matter - it's all good. Wish they'd show more U shows. My kids are grown out of the size; always like children's place too...clothes lasted a long time.

KFed - :cheer2: to the team, nothing like a 'lil sibling rivalry to keep things interesting.

Barb - thanks, i was almost ready to walk out of the salon when she tried to tell me my natural hair was too dark to go light:upsidedow ; finally saw it my way I suppose. I think she was just being cheap w/the bowls of color. Cannot remember the product she uses, know it's not clariol. Kept saying it didn't have bleach in it; so how can it lighten hair...whatever, all worked out. Funny thing is i think some of the younger stylists (her wealthy parents set her up in business right out of beauty school) only want to do what they think is cool/current? Had the nerve to tell me the hairstyle i picked out of the beauty book was an "old lady cut":rotfl: More CP later today, i hope.

penny - how'd you know i'm washing clothes again?;) You find the coolest icons!

DM - another vote for asti (not martini & rossi though - just tastes off to me?); usually get the cheaper stuff - just fine. Course i like ruinite lambrusco too:laughing: , cut it with some sprite & it's a great 'lil spritzer.

hi damo - when you were out @ DL did you happen to drive past the Sheraton Anaheim (the one across from the parking garage that looks sorta like a castle?). I found a great rate there; was trying to gather info.

mac - settling in yet?

tricie - forgot to mention travelaxe too as a good comparative site

tracia - glad you sister is hanging in there:wizard: , you too. So, tell us about the CB wacko; moreso, how did you notice any difference:rolleyes1 jk, lot's of good people play there....it's safer here.:thumbsup2

Hi Damo. Good to see you. Wish you would say hi more often.

Tricia - Good luck at the doc today. Hope you get a clean bill of health.

Janet - The nerve of that hair dresser! I think it looks great.

Gonna go have lunch with my best buddy today. We tried three weeks ago but were never able to get together. I will yak at you all later! Have a great day.

Oh and I forgot, I don't visit the CB. To much drama for me. Can't stand to see someone so misserable in their life that they have to attack someone else just to feel better about themselves. So sad!!!!

.

We really considered staying there but finally decided we wanted to be onsite and stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel instead which we loved. We drove past it (when you get off the expressway, it is right there). It looks fine but it just seems a little too far to be walking and we like to be able to do that.

damo - thanks! I'd prefer onsite too - when pigs fly;) apparently, deals are rare during the summer.

We stayed during the summer. If you have AAA and call for rates, they aren't that bad. Paradise Pier is the cheapest and we thought it was just fine. There are some really cheap hotels that are close though!
