Sounds like you guys had a fun night out Barb. Also, the set up for where you went to see it sounds almost exactly like the Lakewood Ampitheater in Atlanta. Wait, somebody bought the name...ummm... oh, yeah... the HiFi Buys Ampitheater in Atlanta. Covered seating near the stage, sloped lawn in the back, midway area off to the side... and in a horrible part of South Atlanta. One of my best friends and I went to see Pat Benatar and Styx there and she made a wrong turn as we were leaving the parking lot. Okay, she was IMPATIENT as we were leaving the parking lot and refused to wait in line, so she turned the other way from everyone else. I found myself saying, "There is a reason why everyone was going the other way. First, it is the most direct route to the interstate to get us the heck out of here. Second, STICK WITH THE CROWD. Let me introduce you to the Stewart Avenue hookers. The really pretty ones are men."

And Good Morning to Everyone!

But it's Monday, and my house is a mess, and I've got laundry... and I am stuck in a hamster wheel, aren't I? Sigh.

We are shopping for a new church. Yesterday's didn't work out. It is SO frustrating trying to find a place where we are all happy. The church that we were members of went through some major upheaval around the first of the year and we just had to remove ourselves from the situation. We've been trying to find a new home church ever since. Most of the churches in this area are small, esablished ones (i.e. my great-grandfather was married in this church) and you will always be an outsider... or they are Mega churches and I feel lost in them. I don't want to sit next to strangers week after week. We tried a popular Mega church for awhile, but they could never find a small group where Brad & I fit. Fortysomethings? Number 1, Brad is 50. Number 2, most of these people have grown children, not little ones like us. Tried the Parents of Young group. Nope. They are mostly in their 20s and in a different place in their life. Form a We Don't Fit In group and we might have a shot.

Anyway, we are about to try the Presbyterian and Baptist churches near the town square. They are large, but not HUGE. I think we have to get out of the Pentecostal ones for awhile. I can't take the drama.

So, my sister has cancer (again)... my son is the target of a bully... our busniess is struggling... my mom is a mess and won't deal with all the stuff she needs to deal with... and I have a carpet full of dog hair.

Anyone want to come join me for a pity party? I'll buy the booze. :rotfl2:

Tricia - long as it's top shelf booze, I've got your back:thumbsup2 jk, hope it all works out for you.

Dear Tricia,

Come on over and visit us Romans:goodvibes

Dear Barb, sounds like you had a great Saturday nite! :thumbsup2

Is Ariel's in DW?

Tricia - long as it's top shelf booze, I've got your back:thumbsup2 jk, hope it all works out for you.

Of course! Only the best when you are feeling the worst, right? ;)

Oh, it's not that bad. I don't want to play the comparison game and say how many other people have things in their life worse than mine. I'm just in a blah mood. It'll pass.

We have our first taste of fall around here, I guess. The air conditioner hasn't run since Saturday and we actually had to dig pants out of the closet. As dry as it has been, I don't know if we'll get much color in the leaves, but I'm looking forward to it.

The local corn maze opened up last weekend, Babyland General had their fall festival on Saturday, Helen started up Oktoberfest last Thursday, and I saw pumpkins in the grocery store. All that MUST mean fall is here, right?

OK kiddos. I had QT with Mike this weekend, which meant that I was allowed to spend all of his shower time online and that's it. So, I have no idea what's going on, other than I saw all the posts about Tracie's birthday, and had just enough time to chime in about that.

So, hugs to those who need them! And Congratulations to those who've earned them. And, well, just plain old Hi!

Anyway, Mike and I swore we would not watch the excessively self-aggrandizing Emmy's last night, but we were chatting and watching, then got into complaining about them. And, Mike who told me that I cuss like a truck driver swore more in 5 minutes than I had all day when the flipping Sopranos won best drama. Was that not soo predictable and terribly hackneyed? Since Mike and I are both Network Managers, we wanted to know when our Network Manager of the Year Award would be televised on national TV, so we can thank our troops and say such "Hollywood Offensive" things like "It's a Child; not a choice!" Good Grief, can you imagine a Hollywood elite including prayers for our president and thanking the troops as part of his acceptance speech and begging everyone to vote pro life and support the NRA?! I would like to win an Emmy just to say things like that publicly and watch the crowd go uncomfortably silent. But that's just me.

Dear Tricia,

Come on over and visit us Romans:goodvibes

I live in rural Georgia. There is only one Catholic church in our entire county. The Father that heads the church is married with children and grandchildren. One of my friends who is Catholic always says that it just isn't possible for the head of a Catholic church to marry, but I've had a conversation with Fr. Rudd and he said that it took him years to ask all the men in high hats to get permission to wed. The church is part of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, so I guess he did. Makes for interesting conversation, though.

Bubba's mom- sounded like you and DH had a good time!
I don't know much about Anthony and Opie or Opie and Anthony(however they are called). They are not known much in the midwest I suppose.
The only thing I remember hearing about them is a few yrs ago, there was something controversial they did. I think they had asked a husband /wife or girlfriend/boyfriend to have s*x in a church?
I don't remember if there was a lawsuit about it or Opie and Anthony got fined or something like that. That's all I know about them.

Enjoyed the soccer video of Bubba!

Jodie- I didn't watch the Emmys either popcorn::
I'm glad DH and I didn't tune in to watch. Sounded like a lot of liberal speeches went on. I am glad The Sopranos won best drama :thumbsup2
We don't have HBO at home, so I miss the episodes from this past yr.
I watch the reruns on A&E. I don't watch the primetime dramas, so I don't really care who wins those. I do watch 24 and ER, as of primetime dramas. I don't watch the primetime comedies either. I do watch Don't Forget the Lyrics, the Singing Bee, and most of the game shows(Deal or No Deal, 1 vs 100, Power of 10, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader). I do watch American Idol, America's Got Talent, Hell's Kitchen, and sometimes Survivor.
And other drama I watch is Supernanny :thumbsup2

RVGal- Best wishes shopping for a new church :)
I go to the first-ever megachurch, Willow Creek Community Church. I think Willow birthed the megachurch concept.
DH and I have been members of Willow for many yrs.
As of small groups, I've been there, done that, been in many different small groups. I have been in a mom's ministry group, a couple's small group(before kids came along), a women's small group, a family small group, special needs family small group. Now Willow Creek is doing the Neighborhood ministry thing, with something called Tables. You kinda hang out with your neighborhood with other Willow attenders, doing a dinner type thing once a month. It's fun at times, but some people can be so surfacy with their friendship with us. Not all, but some.
Wish you lived closer to me, as your family and my family could hang together at church :)
Keep me posted how things are going with the church shopping.

Loribell- Enjoyed the family pics :thumbsup2

Hi to all!

Hope to post some of the wedding pics (the wedding I went to this past weekend) in a few days.

Hey guys - thanks to those of you stopping by! Day 11 is up - still more Universal stuff:

Day 11 - Universal and IOA

Lori - it was great to see your pics. You've seen a zillion of ours and I think those were the first I've ever seen of you! Thanks for posting them!

Tricia - :grouphug: Things will get better - they have to! You're in our prayers! And I know what you mean about the church - I was just typing a whole story about our problems with our last church to an online friend yesterday. We went through this at our last church (lots of reasons we weren't happy) and it probably worked out well that we were moving a few months later. We have found a good church here and we're glad. Keep looking and I'm sure you'll find something!

Roman Catholic priests are forbidden to marry (we're all about rules...tons & tons of stupid rules). :rolleyes1 DS making confirmation next Wednesday, thought all the paperwork was set for his sponsor - nope! Padre is leaving town for a week, paperwork needs to be into diociese by Monday. Only person who could stop in & sign paper that could go @ lunch time (attesting to the fact that they'll go to church & be a practicing Catholic) is DIL - my sons BOTH OF THEM are going to freak......anyone want to trade places with me tonight:headache:

unless you like jumping thru hoops, run away fast...i won't even bore you with my annullment story and the tales i had to tell & cost involved to obtain in order to be remarry (even in civil ceremony) and partake in the sacraments.

On a lighter note...I've been boo'd several times on the boards:lmao: no, i didn't mean that way (thanks barb for the bouncing pumpkin).

since i'm one of those horrid siggie hogs;) i can't play; however, i must share this one with the group. Yes, i am far to lazy to pm y'all. Since we're a small tightknit group, i'm bending the rules today...guess i do tend to do that often lol.

Feel free to add it to your siggie & pass it on:

You've been boo'd:banana:

isn't it cute?

Tricia,
I agree with Janet and your friend, a Roman Catholic priest can not be married or ever have been married.
Maybe he is an Angelican Catholic?

They ran, they passed, they took the ball and ran circles around the poor other team...winning 6-0. I'm sure you saw the link above for Ry's goal.

GO RYAN!!! :cheer2: My son got a shut out at his hockey game Sunday! They won 3-0! GO HUSKIES! :cheer2:

Anyhow, after the game, we come home and all get showers. My very dear "adopted" grandmother, and twice weekly client, Pat, came to our house about 3:30 to stay with Bubba for the night. (I also won't go into why my Mother wasn't able to do it  ) DH and I gave her the info she needed about dinner, bedtime and how to work our remote for the tv
My poor mom has a.) never been able to figure out the remote situation, and b.), is too short to reach the liquor cabinet! Her rules always were, turn on the TV before you leave and mix me a drink! My stepdad does not drink, so she enjoyed that little perk at my house! :thumbsup2

We are here to see the "Opie & Anthony Traveling Virus Tour" show (This is where you may not like where I was.... If you are not familiar, Opie and Anthony are shockjocks (Howard Stern competitor/enemy) that were on radio talkshow, then banned and signed deal with XM satellite radio...they are rude, like women to "flash 'em" and use foul language ...... a lot.)

I've never heard of these guys. Sounds like a wild and crazy evening! I'll have to get DH a bumper sticker! He's in sales and covers all of Maine and New Hampshire. It would liven up his traveling with a bit of "flash" now and then! :lmao: :lmao:

Just a quick drive by to say hi. I've been working for my sis today. Have to run out to a baseball game. Won't be home till about 11. Will try to pop back in to respond to everyone when I get home.

I don't know much about the Catholic church, to be honest. The Rudds have come in to have some work done on a trailer and we've talked. The church (St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church) is listed as a Roman Catholic church on their website.

I was curious, so I looked him up. Here is a story about him:

oh sure....they bend the rules for some, others get the rack:rolleyes1

i'm going to re-watch the DiVinci Code tonight & stew:mad:

DSs both stated they hate me over the confirmation snafu (even though i told #2 to get 'er done months ago & he didn't it's all my fault).

#2 is especially angry, many harsh words flung @ me, I've spent most of the day boo-hoo'ying...sometimes you just can't make it all better and kids just have to live with their own consequences.
