Something About Nothing............ #14

Sorry Charade, but my laptop suddenly wouldn't let me finish, GRRRR. We absolutely loved the AB area for it's tropical feel and winding paths. The quiet pools were gorgeous and never crowded. I guess I can't say enough good things about POFQ. We had a major problem one time and I wrote to the manager about it. They apologized and when we went to POFQ for our anniversary, they sent a beautiful bouquet in a cut glass base, a case with 2 engraved flutes for champagne in velvet lining, some cards from all the characters, and a nice card from management. They more than made up for the problem we had before. Otherwise, they have always treated us very well.

I wanted to mention that because it has a smaller footprint and is easier to navigate, there are a lot of disabled people that stay here. So there might be more ECV's than at other places, but not so many that it bothered us. Just wanted to mention that.

I made the change to POFQ. It was only a few hundred more than the All Star we had previously booked. I like the idea of a smaller resort. Also, the rooms are a little larger and it looks like I will have more room for my CPAP. I also just found out that the rooms are undergoing refurbishment. I’ve seen pictures of the new rooms and I think they look very nice. The more I find out about the resort the more I am looking forward to staying there.

When the first doctor told me this I replied with “So, no heavy metal concerts?”

Wow! You got some amazing color. It is very rare that they can be seen this far south.

Caspian woke me up a few minutes ago demanding food. I had insomnia last night and didn’t get to sleep until after 3:00. Once I got to sleep i had crazy dreams. In one I was at work and several clients showed up with emotional support dogs. One client had brought 2 people with her and they had support dogs too. They finally went outside with them. There were about 7 dogs and a couple of cats too. I have no idea where they came from.
I’m going to try to get back to sleep. Maybe I will have more weird dreams. Thankfully I don’t have to work tomorrow.

lol....yep, maybe not the best idea!!

We do see it very well at times, up North a little more than us, but it is stunning to see.

It`s a beautiful little resort, I think you`ll like it.

And our keisha heads off tomorrow on her travels.......hope you and the mister have an amazing time Janet!!!!

I will get these pictures uploaded.........:rolleyes1

Busy day with visitors, all packages and gifts have now been handed out to some very grateful friends, I did tell them Prosecco or champagne will be appreciated in lieu of luggage charges!!

A couple of friends left not so long ago, nice evening though. Won`t be long till bedtime I think and it`s another cold one out there tonight, cosy in here though.

Planning a Saturday in, unless we go for a drive in Kyle`s new car, we haven`t been in it yet properly as we left the day after he got it, will see what he`s up to tomorrow.

It`s the weekend!!!

Clear enough sky. Low 50’s again tonight.

Half moon from my phone:

Safe travels Keisha.

Hope all getting surgery do very very well.

Charade, think you will be happier with FQ for the few more dollars you are spending. We changed to CB from Sports when we had move our stay from September.

DH already asleep, so little one and I are going out for a few minutes. Kids across the street are noisy, but hey, it’s Saturday night. Alarm off, for yay, a holiday Monday weekend. Woot!

That’s what my optometrist said. Also coughing, sneezing, or other bodily functions.
I was trying to be "ahem" delicate lol

Good to hear the trip is still on!
Anyone here stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and can give me an opinion?
It & the mansions in riverside our favorite mod resorts.

FQ has a very Nice interpretation of the theme. Dare I say one of the most romantic resorts?

Odd thing to say but, I love how the plants are lush there. Lots of grand trees & shade.

Efficient food court with freshly made Beignets!

Cool pool scape, very popular with kids. Almost a bit too lively for my tastes. An overall small footprint of a resort

That said, we have segued over to booking riverside, only mansions section. The bayou section goes on forever

Food court gets the nod, their sliced meat/poultry of day usually very good

Yeehaw bob is an acquired taste, he's only there one or two nights a week in small, all ages lounge. It gets packed early to point if SRO only

Pool much quieter but pretty landscaping there too

IMO a great choice for a bit of a splurge.

Lynne -thanks! Football game over, all packed & rarin' to board that flight tomorrow AM. Glad to hear ur Mr is home!!! House had to feel empty with him gone so long. Hope he settles in well

May have missed it. Have we heard as to Robbie's husband?

Believe pumpkin & co have their last day of vacation tomorrow...enjoy!

My Mr Mac will be returning home from his trip late tomorrow night.
Can’t wait to see him!

The cats will snub him when he comes into the house as they always get ticked off when he is not home for days.

After he is home a few hours, they will be all over him which is a good thing.
He will give them a heck of a lot of kitty treats and cats will become his best friend again.

and best of all I will be off cat feeding duty for the night!

I love my cats but I love sleeping without having a cat sleeping on my chest.

and will be off cat feeding duties that night and be able to sleep without a cat sitting on my face

I love my kitties but I love not having a cat sleep on my chest….

the cats will be all over him and I will finally get to have a full night sleep

the cats sleep on his chest and i will be cat free
all night long!
yay….

I thought it was Friday today

It was indeed Friday last night!

Happy Saturday today.

Yes, we thought FQ was very cosy and could be indeed described as romantic. We did enjoy our time there, apart from the jazz guy! Avoided him like the plague. I hate jazz.

I am hoping Robbie will let us know how her husband is doing.
I have kept an eye out and been checking the sans for any up dates she might share with us.

I know all of us have her in our thoughts.

Yes, hope all went well for Mr Robbie.

Up and awake far too early this morning. Now it’s dark and colder in the mornings, we plan to sleep that bit later in the mornings, no point getting out of a warm cosy bed at stupid o clock for no good reason! Much rather snuggle for an extra hour.

We’re not the kind of folks that can sleep the day away though, still up reasonably early, but the joys of being retired…..nothing to do and all day to do it.

Awaiting delivery today of the “life changing” pan that poaches eggs, hmmm. We’ll see, they had none in stock yesterday so delivery today in the afternoon, so eggs will be poached the old fashioned way this morning….by my husband while I do the bacon and do some avocado for me too.

If we’re not seeing Kyle tonight I think we’ll get an Indian takeout and watch a movie, but will see what his plans are first, very keen to get a drive in his new car!

Did think of going back to bed and sleeping for another hour or so till 8ish, but made myself a cuppa, now I’m wide awake and as it lightens up outside, looks another cold day out there.

Have a lovely Saturday!!!

Good afternoon everyone :wave2:

Wishing the best. He is very lucky to have a built in nurse to help him recover!
Thank you Janet. So thankful to be here to help him anyway I can.

I got what I thot was an odd message from my surgeon this am, verifying my surgery date is still as scheduled. Hadn't heard about IV shortage causing many elective procedures to be postponed
They are not canceling elective surgeries that I heard of, but coming up with some needed changes until shortage is resolved.

Does make you wonder as to the wisdom of NHS being ok with just a few, centralized manufacturing sites handling many essential medical Supplies
I think this hopefully will make Baxter the company who makes the IV fluids decide to add another operations plant somewhere else to make sure there are no issues in the future. Of course in all fairness to them whoever thought that would happen in North Carolina.

Continued good wishes for them both Robbie.
Thank you Carole.

Besides it being cloudy and a but drizzly most days, the weather has been amazing and we have adjusted park days and been hitting them hard! This Momma's feet are tired. I brought the wrong trainers. I thought my work ones inwear would be good - ummmmm  I don't know why they are hurting. The rest will be good for the feet.
Pumpkin hope all is well with you and your family and you are able to get all the things you wanted to enjoy done.

Finally, done with this year's wreath.
That is a really cute wreath. Little Sam theme is great.

in my area, we had a quake today in ringgold
Strange things are happening.

Update - The retinal specialist says that the hemorrhaging is minimal and there is no damage to the retina. I am to avoid heavy lifting, bending over, and any head jarring activity for at least the next 3 weeks. We will discuss theme park rides when I go back to see her on November 6.
Charade I’am sorry to hear you are having issues with your eye. Glad to hear you were able to get in and see the needed Specialist Doctors to have your eye examined. Sending you a special Nurse to care for you. I know you like cats. Prayers for healing of your eye.

Praying for some good news in November!
Sending prayers for your wife that all is healed up soon.

And our keisha heads off tomorrow on her travels.......hope you and the mister have an amazing time Janet!!!!
Enjoy your trip Janet.

Sounds like a fair exchange to me.

Sorry I had planned to update yesterday then things started moving pretty fast.

Hubby is doing well. He is tired and in pain, but pain meds are helping a lot.

He was in surgery for almost 4 hours Wednesday morning. The surgeon had to pull his vertebrae back into place and then fuse and graft the bones to hold them in place. That is really a short simple explanation of the surgery.

He came through the surgery well.

Since I’am a Nurse the Doc and therapist felt ok with sending him home yesterday evening. He wanted to come home and they gave me all the dressing supplies to care for his back.

He was up good today with his walker, but is weak and in pain from the surgery.

Some additional unexpected wounds were on his face from the tape they secured the intubation tube with. He also has a big blister that popped with they removed his back dressing yesterday. He had a reaction to some of the tape. So those areas are being managed also.

Sadly the food at the hospital was really bad. Also, everytime he ordered food there was always things missing off his tray. The hospital has a different food company handling all the patient food and food served to the visitors in the Cafe downstairs.

When I worked there they had wonderful food. The Nurse said the employees and patients have been complaining about the food for a longtime now since this new company is handling the food. So sad as good nutrition is very important to the healing process.

I’am glad to get my sweetie home. He will be fed and cared for well.

Our granddaughter is doing well after her surgery. She is up moving around well.

My sister in Harmony weathered the Hurricane ok. She said the back winds that followed the initial onslaught was the worse. She said that 4 am Thursday morning they woke up to severe winds and rain and looked out and saw shingles flying off their roof. They did suffer roof damage, but the wood and underlayment paper under the shingles appear intact. No leaks yet so fingers crossed. Luckly she was able to get 5 roofing companies out already to assess the damage and give her some estimates on replacing the roof. Her insurance company will handle the cost less the deductible.

Our house did hot sustain any damage as far as the we know. All the homes including ours had the hurricane shutters up. There was some tree debris.

There were numerous tornados that were spawned by this hurricane before it made landfall. A big one destroyed one of the post offices in town and did damage to some homes. There was some flooding as well.

About 6 miles from us in St.Lucie County a neighborhood called Spanish Lakes suffered more tornado damage when one touched down there. Six people died there. So sad. This is same neighborhood where the 85 year old lady was attacked by the big gator and killed last February.

Daughter sent this picture she took on the top of the hospital.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon and evening.

Robbie, glad to hear your husband and granddaughter are both on the mend!! Continued good wishes for them both. Your husband will be so glad to be home having you taking care of him and yes, you`ll know he`s getting proper food. Such a shame when you hear of hospitals that don`t serve decent wholesome food.

And glad your sister didn`t have too much damage to her home, and of course hope yours is the same too.

I did get some bubbly in lieu of gifts, so not too bad at all!!! :-)

Lovely sunny day here, maybe a little chilly though, spent a very lazy but nice morning, had a few friends over for brunch, tried the new life changing egg poaching pan....nah, old fashioned way is better.

This afternoon after they left we watched the amazing Texas SpaceX launch and first ever succesful catch of the rocket booster and landing, absolutely incredible to see!!

Doing diced beef in the slow cooker for tonight, smells amazing!! Will do some very creamy mashed potato to go with it and I have some baby carrots, will go lovely with the beautiful gravy meat is cooking in.

Time for a mid afternoon cuppa!!

I can’t remember who is going when but hope you will be able to connect with some of the homies!

(A few pages back have some posts of who is going when.)

I don’t do solo trips anymore.
Tell Gage I said hi to him !

Happy Sunday. We have been having a very relaxing weekend. Dh is out of town for the weekend so B and I decided to go to the tea room yesterday. I still can’t believe it will be gone in 2 months.

Thank you to everyone who commented about POFQ. I am really looking forward to staying there.

Good to hear the trip is still on!
I just couldn’t cancel. B has been looking forward to this trip since last year. I will go even if I can’t ride anything.

Yeehaw bob is an acquired taste, he's only there one or two nights a week in small, all ages lounge. It gets packed early to point if SRO only
Is he the only musical entertainment? I am not at all familiar with him.

Thank you so much. The cat is adorable.

He came through the surgery well.

Our granddaughter is doing well after her surgery. She is up moving around well.
Great news for both. Prayers for a good recovery.

Headed to USO Mon 28th now...HHN on Weds. the 30th, 1-night only.... Anybody here gonna be there?!
Not until November for me.

I mentioned my eye issue today during Bible study. One of my class members approached me after class and said she used castor oil to break up her floaters. Sounded a little quacky to me so I googled. The first thing I saw was that there is no medical evidence that castor oil can help with floaters and that it could be potentially harmful. This is why I trust the person with a medical degree.

With eyes, no I wouldn`t take a recommendation like that, I`ve never heard that one before. But, I take a small amount of tonic water every night for leg cramps, it works but it does say there is no medical evidence to support the theory. The quinine in it stops the cramps and my mother has the same issue and it was her who told me to try it.

I have shared it with some friends who have the same issue and it worked for them all, again, no evidence to show it works but it does.

However, yes, when it says it could be potentially harmful, avoid like the plague!!

Beautiful sunny and not cold at all today despite it being 48F, it is gorgeous!! That sun is toasty!!

I did try the egg poacher pan this morning, just to give it another bash, but I`ll stick to the old fashioned way and have my husband cook them for me the proper way 😉 he does them so well!!

Lunch is going to be butternut squash soup I made before we left, garlic and rosemary are prominent for sure, bakery bought bread today for a change and I have chicken thighs and veg cooking in a honey mustard sauce in the slow cooker for tonight, another simple winter warming dish despite it being very autumn like today, and it`s full of flavour.

Washing on the line too.....yes, makes me happy!!

Happy Monday :sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:
