Something About Nothing............ #14

I couldn't bear to see the sad look on my DS face when he came to grab the pooch at dinner. He never asks me for anything

Took many hours of negotiations with travel providers, and my wallet a bit more pinched by what appears to be supply & demand/rebookers out in force...

Trip shorter but salvaged. Leave Saturday-WDW/AKVJ as on original schedule.

Following Thursday, onto U where we can hopefully use at least 2 of our HHN tix

Need to verify how they will handle that, last storm could use rest of haunt season.

Smart move, stay safe!

Good luck & have fun. You have the right attitude. This will be an adventure all will remember

Soon as I read your email, I thought you’d change plans! Good decision, you’ll miss all it has to hit.

As always hoping all in the path are as safe as possible.

Hello everyone. I am back home after a nice weekend in Georgia. It was good to see my brother and SIL again. I had a quiet weekend hanging out at their house while dh went to an academic conference.

My brother told me an interesting story. Our mother had told him that a family member said that they had seen a dove at both mom’s stepfather’s and mom’s mother’s funerals. He told this to his wife while they were driving to SC for mom’s funeral. Then her told her that he doubted he would see a dove at mom’s funeral. They
Checked in to their hotel and discovered that soap in their room was a small bar of Dove soap. He kept the little bar ann now has it on a shelf in his house.

In other fun (not) news, I seem to have developed floaters in my left eye. It just started Saturday night. I am told that I will get used to it, but right now they are really annoying.

Last story - Some of you may remember that about 5 years ago dh did an Ancestry DNA test and discovered that he may have some half siblings. (For those of you who don’t know, my dh was adopted as an infant) He communicated briefly with a man named Stephen who is probably his half brother. Stephen didn’t seem interested in pursuing a relationship, so dh just push. Today dh was contacted by Stephen’s sister Stephanie who does seem interested in getting to know him better. Dh couldn’t do much today since he was driving, but the 2 of them will start communicating and just see where this goes.

Sorry for not playing catch up on posts. I am tired and have to go back to work tomorrow. Bleh!

Prayers for everyone in Milton’s path.

I do hope your husband and Stephanie do pursue a relationship of some kind and it works out. We hear so many positive outcomes with similar situations.

Yep, not always possible to catch up with everyone after a few days away…..

Hope @Pumpkin1172 is doing ok with her family!!

Good flight back home Sunday evening, first time for us an Orlando flight has been less than half empty. And although Premium was busier, never seen so many spare seats before. Landed early but then had to sit at the back end of the airport till our slot became available, typical, but still made good time which is always good.

Kyle came straight from work last night and we had takeout for dinner, good to see him of course and helped keep us awake a little longer.

It’s been raining all day today, so as I have now washed everything, the dryer was busy today. Groceries were delivered and Tom went to the farm butchers for his bacon and amazing eggs. Won’t think about eating healthier just yet……

We had an amazing trip though, loved every minute and for the first time in a September we barely saw a drop of rain apart from one evening with Helene and our last day….very different from August from what everyone said.

Actually slept really well last night after falling asleep mid sentence around 9pm last night, woke up several times but got straight back to sleep thankfully.

Laundry all done and put away, apart from that, we have no plans this week except to chill out, snoozed if we needed to, which we did several times along with snacking and catch up in general from another amazing trip!

Back to the best tea in the world now and decide which snack dinner to have.....maybe charcuterie, not much to do there!

Killing time before a football game.

Hubby’s surgery is tomorrow. So we are preparing for that.
Prayers for your husband tomorrow. Hope all goes well.

On a lighter note. While Little J and I were at Sam’s yesterday the elderly gentleman and his wife that were buying the supply’s I noted above started talking to little J. J out of the blue sang happy birthday to the man and the guy looked at him and said. “How did you know it was my birthday” I thought he was kidding to go along with J’s singing and it was actually the guys birthday. To cute. I have been singing Happy Birthday to J since his actual birthday and he just decided to sing it.
Aww…that’s so sweet.

I did not get good news today. I went to the eye doctor and was told that i have the second largest floater he has ever seen. He wants to monitor it and make sure I don’t have any complications. I’ve been told to avoid heavy lifting and any activity that might cause head jarring such as running, kick boxing, certain theme park rides……….
I haven’t told B yet. I still plan to take her to Universal. She just may have to ride most of the rides solo. The doctor wants to see me again before we leave for the trip.
So, I’m kind of in a really down mood today.

Robbie, all good wishes for your granddaughter getting over her surgery and for your husband tomorrow, has to be such a worry for you and the family.

Certain drops can give relief. Is he an opthamologist that does the eye mapping & visual field tests? If not, might want to get 2nd opin there.

Interesting news for the Mr. Hope it works out as he wishes reconnecting

Wishing the best. He is very lucky to have a built in nurse to help him recover!

I got what I thot was an odd message from my surgeon this am, verifying my surgery date is still as scheduled. Hadn't heard about IV shortage causing many elective procedures to be postponed

Does make you wonder as to the wisdom of NHS being ok with just a few, centralized manufacturing sites handling many essential medical Supplies

Hope all in the storm's path, especially pumpkin stay safe

Fingers crossed you get the right treatment and it gets better, you’ll still be fine for the trip I’m sure.

Famous last words from me around 8pm last night…….i don’t feel this jet lag as bad today!

One of these days I’ll learn to keep my yap shut!

Trying to decide whether to have chamomile tea or night nurse cold medication that will zonk me out! Sleeping beauty is sound asleep so don’t want to disturb him. It’ll be fine by tomorrow I’m sure.

Has pumpkin checked in again?

:wave2: Checking in again!!!!! I can't sleep do thought I would check in!

Besides it being cloudy and a but drizzly most days, the weather has been amazing and we have adjusted park days and been hitting them hard! This Momma's feet are tired. I brought the wrong trainers. I thought my work ones inwear would be good - ummmmm  I don't know why they are hurting. The rest will be good for the feet.

We are now hunkered into our hotel. We have a few supplies and extra water incase the hotel runs out of food ot something happens with the water.

We have planned to maybe fet a quick nice breakfast outside of the hotel (as this hotel has just a small continental one), we want to make a quick stop somewhere fir a couple of puzzles to stay occupied. We have a suite room with a nice little living area for is to be together in. Then we will.hunker down for the next two days.

I was pleasantly surprised to be able to move our all our multipasses to Friday for MK :jumping1: . Even though it is a party day, we will try our best to hit all that we will try to hit what we can. I thought for sure inwoukd be able to transfer them to another date - so I was a little.

We are not sure what night we will be HHN as our original plan was for Thursday (10). But we will try to hit it Friday. It might be our best chance to have an amazing evening with low crowds.

Saturday will be KSP followed by dinner on the pier at Coco Beach or HNN - depending on how much clean up needs to happen..

Monday we park hopped three parks in one day! With the storm coming in, I wanted dh and boys to experience MK fireworks, so it was a quick change of plans, and a mad dash to fit it in...but we did it with 15/20 minutes to spare 🤣. But we did it!!!! I might have to do a trip report when we get back😉😄 to tell.our tale.

Our little hotel hs been pretty quiet, then when we got back after tonight- the parking lot was packed. It seems many peeps from the coastal areas are heading the evacuation orders and finding hotels here - which is great!

Well, the brings me up to date with what's happening here.
I'm hoping to check in again during the storm -- ir we don't loose power.

Stay safe everyone!!!!

Glad to see you pop in Pumpkin!

Yep, make the most of it, ignore the doom and gloomers. Hotels will look after you really well for the time you have to be inside, hope you don`t lose power through this one.

We were the same with weather, absolutely glorious with no rain, well except Sunday but that was our last day, so it didn`t matter and hope all your plans work out and you get to HHN, yep all dependent on any damage, but they are excellent at getting back up and running.

And yes, give your feet a good rest up, happy to hear your trip has been so much fun!!

We have so much rain!! Some roads are flooded around us, our local train station which is tiny is under water and no sign of the rain stopping anytime soon.

But, no plans to go out again today, we have plenty of food, so will go out when we need fresh produce replenished. Going to do grilled sandwiches for lunch, turkey, brie and cranberry and roast chicken breasts for dinner, traditional with red wine gravy, roasties and roasted carrots and parsnips. Winter warmer dinners are here again, although to be fair it`s not cold, just wet and miserable!

Not time for lunch yet, we had a late breakfast as we slept till 9am, so will be a late lunch, time for a cuppa first though, tea just isn`t the same in America!

Happy Wednesday :)

Quick update. Today I saw an ophthalmologist who confirmed the floater and also said that I had a broken blood vessel. She said some of what I am seeing as the floater is actually blood. She has referred me to a retinal specialist. I see her tomorrow.
The ophthalmologist agreed with some of the things the optometrist told me (no strenuous activity) but also added no bending over. I asked about theme park rides and she told me to discuss that with the retinal specialist tomorrow.
I told B about the eye problems I am having, but didn’t mention it might affect our upcoming trip. I will wait and talk to the retinal specialist first.

Finally, done with this year's wreath.

in my area, we had a quake today in ringgold

Hope you had no damage from the rockin!!!

Rain has finally stopped, slept really well last night till around 2am, finally dropped back off and slept till 8.30am!! Never slept so late so often in years, but jetlag is a good excuse for doing it.

We did get out this morning, Tom wanted a new heavy winter jacket, found one and then did a little grocery shopping, going to do very easy chicken fajitas tonight so needed sour cream and not much else, but amazingly we never just pick up one thing!!

This afternoon is another day not doing much, need to catch up with some folks and check in with friends in Orlando and around Florida.

Just heard from one of the managers at the hotel and all seems fine there with them which is wonderful to hear!!

Off for a late lunch again, might just be a slice of toast and tea of course!!!
