Something About Nothing............ #14

Sounds like a plan!!

We always have a car, but still use Uber and our experience has always been good there.

Not a golf fan, there is Top Golf down Universal Blvd, no idea if that would be his cup of tea or not for a driving range, but many enjoy it.

We`ve never found an excellent steak anywhere onsite except for The Palm and honestly, it`s not the same place it used to be since Landry`s took it over, but it`s the best option onsite. Citywalk is a big no no for us for steaks.

Orchids have plenty of options that aren`t spicy. Mexican, Volcano and Dynamite are the ones that spring to mind that are classed as spicy, but they`re not too bad. Cowfish has some of the worst sushi we have ever tried so I wouldn`t recommend that one at all since you like good sushi.

Orchids Tropical, Crab Rangoon and Caterpillar and sunset rolls sound like you`d enjoy them, but don`t forget to ask what the Chef`s special is, they are always excellent and I think the menu lets you know which dishes are classed as spicy.
We're probably going to eat at Cowfish because I have never been there and we like the novelty of a burger and sushi bento box, but I will keep my expectations very low for the sushi. I am not a sushi expert, having only first tried it when my fiance and I start dating. I am looking forward to Orchids.

We quite like the burgers in Cowfish and they have a couple of appetisers that are good too.

:wave2: Quick stop in. Back home....back to work today and wading through all the emails and getting back into the groove and the up-to-dates on pt's.

I'll stop in later with another update/report!

You made it back!! Look forward to hearing it was an amazing trip!!

Weirdly warm today, high 60`s and we did get out in the garden for a time, only to give my opinion on losing a rather large set of hedges, apparently they`re not well, they do look a little bare even for Autumn. Told him to do what he thinks best.

Tidied up some leaves, that`s as much as I`m allowed to do in the garden, looks much better now, but another strong wind and leaves will be everywhere again.

Dinner was nice, fish was perfect, still quite translucent, so very moist. The farm handed in one of her apple pies, never tasted better than she bakes, so a little dessert tonight with some clotted cream.

Thinking of looking at some decorating ideas for Kyle`s old bedroom, haven`t even thought about what to do with it, it`ll always be Kyle`s room of course....he doesn`t care what we do with it lol.....I`m thinking of more book shelves all round the room as I still have so many books in boxes in the attic, not sure my lovely husband will agree though!

He`s back volunteering tomorrow afternoon, so some shopping in the morning I think.

Time for a cuppa and some apple pie and then some tv I think.

Mr Mac and I got the covid booster an hour ago.

Never had any real discomfort from past shots/boosters until today.
Arm swelled up quickly which surprised me.
Assume it will not be a nuisance soon.

Just put a perdue hen in the oven as food always lifts my mood.

I am baking a big bird so come on over for dinner.
No one will be on dish clean up duty as I have a dishwasher…

Ack missed Mac’s dinner. Like when now wanting to light oven to heat up the kitchen. We had soup and salad. What everyone wanted, though I think when older one came home, he had a bag of food. At least some of the soup was left.

42 degrees, and a very white and bright moon, full looking, hung lower in the sky, as I stepped out the door. Clear skies, which is why another frost warning was given. Ah yes, Fall is here. Our October is generally one of the still warmer months, but many more cooler days then the month before. And the earliest we have seen snow, as at the end of the month, we enjoyed a snowy Halloween one year, in the past 10 years.

Ah the joy of driving into the city. Why my car has heated seat buttons. Time of year they start to be turned on to warm the seat. Like this morning. 😜

Thirsty Thursday is here, and drinking my share of tea, to do my part today, of being thirsty. See office building doesn’t turn on the heater until the middle of November. Many of us have a small heater to enjoy a little heat in their own office. Sigh. My house is just right, almost too warm, but not. Yes, we did turn on our heater. Last Thursday, we woke up to a too cool house. And so, time of year we use both the AC and heater.

Most Terrific Thirsty Thursday. Drink up, good for body, and while sipping, thoughts of that Fabulous Friday feeling is tomorrow already. Woot! Probably pumpkin picking soon.

Orchids>Cowfish for us.

I really tried to like Cowfish for sushi, but no, it was very disappointing.

At least it`s done for this time mac, one of those things. I admit the last time I had a covid vax a few years ago now, my arm was sore for a few days, but previous ones weren`t as bad.

Hope the chicken was nice, your dinner time is probably my bedtime!!

Beautiful almost summer like day here today at a balmy 68F and gorgeous sunshine!! It won`t last I`m sure but we`ll enjoy it while we can. Nothing like an autumnal day with sunshine.

Met some friends for a pot of tea in one of village cafe`s this morning, always happy to support local businesses, it was very nice and turned down a large cream cake!!! My very slim friend tucked in and ate half her husband`s too, don`t know how she does it! Then went to visit the wholesale butcher and dropped into a brand new farm store that`s opened up, not too bad but wouldn`t rush back there again, very small selection right now.

So, I`m definitely ready for lunch soon, I have parma ham, avocado and going to do a poached egg on top, well Tom will make it for me!

Doing stuffed pork fillet tonight, plum and ginger stuffing with some bullet chillies, very nice indeed with some pak choi, onion, peppers and beanshoots all stir fried in some spices too. Food is sorted for the day again!

Kettle on soon to have some tea with lunch, proper tea of course!!

Have a lovely Thursday :sunny::sunny::sunny:

Good morning. Today we morph over to the dark side

Robbie great to hear the Mr is progressing in his recovery. I know people who pick hospitals based upon their food service rep

Ruth - you need a countdown to your trip :)

Heck on a deck
Another saying I'll have to flitch lol

Shared a table over a snack yesterday with both people from French Quebec and Scotland. Such a juxtaposition of dialects lol
I’m so envious. That’s on my bucket list.
We land @ AKVJ most often as to majority of our points being here. Was very nice to come back after the long day the Mr planned 2 parks, 11 hours  and enjoy the indoor fire pit

His choice of lunch. I didn't get thru a third of mine, not a fan of such large portions unless sharing
IMG_3917.jpeg

Cooler weather, a perfect day for AK safari, animals out & active.

The baby elephant!

So DVC is quite different from a hotel stay? Is it the same as a time share or does it work differently?
Sssh the word timeshare is never uttered lol. It's in the same family. You buy in but, for a fixed period of years. Product thus far has certainly appreciated in 'worth/resale value for us'.

Is at point where many contracts cease in 2044 & 2056. Assume the resale prices might start to moderate

I always suggest that people rent from one of the brokers first, then take a short tour when here. Totally opposite of what we did lol

PS the bounce back offers have been in our rooms all year. Up to 35% off the villas

PS welcome to the world of home made chicken soup, it makes everything a bit better!
You know, this week’s day ending week days’ day, will be a walk to that first train ride, for a weekend fun trip.
Do you have Uber or Lyft. Have fun.
Never had any real discomfort from past shots/boosters until today.
Happy to hear you got your Covid boosters. Did u make it a cocktail & add RSV or flu?

For some reason thot u had a terrible reaction to the vaxx with your arm?

I'm going to wait & do vaxx separately. Always feel like flu for a day after, worth it! I was so sick the 3rd time around with covid. cannot imagine how I'd have felt without it.

We have 10# of candy from party, yes, the Mr used the luggage scale

Love the overlays they do on castle

Love the pictures!! I do like the one with both of you in it.

Food looks good.....going to hazard a guess, Yak and Yeti? One of the few Disney restaurants we have gone to!!

lol.....the Auld Alliance between Scotland and the French still stays strong, but yes, I can imagine the dialects! We met a family in the lounge who were shall we say, very Scottish, even I struggled to understand them!!

Have fun at the darkside!!

It is like summer here today, weird as we were so cold a few days ago, but it is gorgeous and fairly warm at almost 70F.

Sitting with a cuppa on my own with the sun streaming in the kitchen, comfy sofa and a laptop......bliss!!!! I feel quite lazy though, I`m sure I could be doing something.

Maybe not......:coffee:

Janet I ran out of options with my doctor.
It was get the booster or find a new doctor group.

I knew it was better to keep my doctor than to find a new medical group or find another husband.

The husband is not very mobile today.
We both had similar reactions from the serums last night.

Very good chance I will be back to my normal routine tomorrow I was told.

Good Thursday morning everyone :wave2:

It`s good to see progress for your husband, bless him, has to be tough getting back to normal again, but it is comforting for you to know you can look after his recovery with expertise.
He is a trooper Carole. He is getting stronger every day. Still has to take his naps as needed. I told him he is making good progress.

You would love HoS!! It was so much better than HHN when we went, I think we`ll go back next year especially if we can make a trip with the keisha`s!! So much fun.
I think I will need to make an effort to give HoS a try next year. Will be nice to see how it compares to HHN.

Hope the appointment went well today!
It did, it was pretty easy visit. The Therapist who fitted him for his back brace was so nice.

I lurk around here whenever I'm planning a Universal trip, but this time have to share my excitement with people who understand. I am honeymooning at Universal with someone who has never been to any theme park. And introducing him to the place where my now mostly adult kids and I escaped the stress of our real lives during some tough times.
Welcome to the Sans family Katie.

Enjoy your honeymoon at Universal.

A really nice place for a meal if you venture over to Disney Springs is the Boathouse. It is a very nice place for a good meal.

Hello everyone. Nothing much going on here. Dh has a cold so tonight was homemade chicken noodle soup. I have never made chicken noodle soup before but dh loved it.
Hope your hubby feels better soon. Chicken Noodle soup is the best homemade feel good soup.

Quick stop in. Back home....back to work today and wading through all the emails and getting back into the groove and the up-to-dates on pt's.

Look forward to your info on your trip.

Never had any real discomfort from past shots/boosters until today.

Mac hope your arm feels better soon.

He is doing well.

I can see that happening as far as the food issues in some hospitals. We have a beautiful hospital in our town, but the food is awful. I find it interesting that they would outsource the food service to a company that serves crap to their patients and employees.

Good nutrition is so important to the healing process.

Another cool day here.

Hubby is up walking and progressing well. He hit his shin on his walker and now we have another wound to take care of. Thankfully I have lots of dressing to handle any issues. I told him I’am going to have to put soccer pads on his legs if he keeps it up. He laughed.

I got a cold. Think it was my gift from the hospital. Trying to make sure I don’t give it to hubby as he does not need anything else to deal with.

Not sure if I shared with you all that the hospital although having crappy food had the most amazing gift shop I have every seen in a hospital. It was beautiful. They had one of the most gorgeous Halloween displays I have ever seen. Did I buy a few things ::yes::

I saw a few little things I thought were a good addition to my halloween decor.
IMG_4417.jpeg

I loved the Witch with her gray hair and her expression holding her cat. The candles were cute as was the old world Cat photo. The deflated side laying Pumpkin goes well with some of the decorations in my kitchen.

I keep saying I’am not going to buy anymore Halloween decorations every year, but I do end up finding something anyway.

Going to go out and do a few things in the yard today.

Have wonderful Thursday everyone.

Quick stop in before I head out for lunch.

Getting back into the swing of things now and have things under control at work again. Still wishing I could be on vacation, but that will come again.

Today is my first day to pick up our gd from daycare. She is now here at our place with son-in-law, Dd left yesterday to go back to the city to start packing up their house to get ready for the big move in 2 weeks. Gd is extremely excited to have me pick her up from daycare lol. She was also super excited to be able to pack a lunch to bring everyday to " school" So we headed to the grocery store to stock up on things she would like to have for lunches. Thank goodness they have a microwave, so they could send leftovers or a favorite meal to eat at daycare.

So now my evenings are not so quiet for the next couple weeks with the kids being here. Sil didn't get home from work until late last night. So Grammie whipped up some dinner, got lunch ready for tomorrow and put pj's on. Dad came home and was able to put her to bed  Grammie was tired after that!

She has referred me to a retinal specialist. I see her tomorrow.
The ophthalmologist agreed with some of the things the optometrist told me (no strenuous activity) but also added no bending over.
It's great you have been referred to a specialist! I'll be sending you lots of healing mummy dust
I’am glad to get my sweetie home. He will be fed and cared for well.

Our granddaughter is doing well after her surgery. She is up moving around well.
Great news that both did well and are now recovering! I hope you recover quickly from your cold and don't share it with your dh.
Most of my nails that had grown so nicely in Florida have now gone back to my normal length again, I don`t ever get my nails done, just a quick file now and again, but they look so much nicer when I have sunshine every day.
I envy people with nice natural nails. My natural nails are so soft, and peel. I've never had nice nails. Not even when I was pregnant.

Dh has a cold so tonight was homemade chicken noodle soup. I have never made chicken noodle soup before but dh loved it.

B is happy because she earned an A in her first graduate class.
Yum!!!!!!!!! I love a good bowl of soup!!!!!!! Congratulations to B! That's a great accomplishment
No plans to go out today, we did some housework this morning, not very exciting, one of our friends popped in for a cuppa as he was passing our area and now heading towards lunchtime. Butternut squash soup again and I baked some rosemary and garlic bread this morning, will go nicely together.
Sounds like the perfect way to spend a day!!!!
Just put a perdue hen in the oven as food always lifts my mood.

I am baking a big bird so come on over for dinner.
No one will be on dish clean up duty as I have a dishwasher…
That is my favorite meal!!!!!!! I'll bring the dessert!

Those were definitely needed to be part of your decor ;)

Well, I should head out for lunch.

It will be so lovely having them so close, and especially being able to pick up your GD, things like that are so special!!

We`re waiting to hear how wonderful your trip was Pumpkin, hope you all had a lovely time!!! But, enjoy lunch for now!!

Popped the heating on for half an hour tonight, it was almost summer like all day, but as soon as the sun went down you can feel that slight change of temp, so a quick bump of the thermostat and half an hour later, back off again.

My friends are still planning to sky dive this weekend, Sunday looks to be a little breezy so hoping it`s ok for them, I know if it`s not safe the company will postpone to another date.

Just had some mango syllabub, good way to use up the last four mango`s that were a little softer than we like, nice dessert.

Only Murders in the Building for an hour I think.

Good Friday morning!!

Another nice day ahead with decent temps for us today, mid 60`s is going to be lovely, might need to do something to take advantage of these days before the cold weather hits, it is just around the corner!

Dinner will involve some of these hot little Fuego babies, I think this is the last of them for the season and they are spicy!!!

Maybe a Spicy Margarita too!!!

i-MWPgwLh-X2.jpg

I think I`ll do chicken thighs in a maple syrup based sauce in the slow cooker, adding some of these diced up will add a zing and take away from the sweetness. We brought back a 4Rivers Maple Syrup with Bourbon which will work well and will make enough to last two nights again. Leeks, celery, red peppers, carrots and a lot of garlic will make a beautiful dish.

I might make a double portion of a Thai Curry and freeze those, those chillies are perfect for that type of dish.

Apart from that, might do some baking this morning, we have a church Fayre tomorrow morning for the smaller church in our village, so will do something and hand it in later today as we have to go out to pick up my new orthotics.

So, quiet weekend ahead for us, but should be a nice one.

Pancakes with bacon coming up later, but for now, perfect pot of tea to start the day!!

Have a lovely Friday 😊

Happy Friday everyone. It has been a pretty uneventful week here. Dh is feeling better and B has finally chosen a restaurant for her birthday dinner. I decided to make a reservation just to be certain. I'm glad I did. Our preferred times were unavailable. We had to choose between 5:30 or earlier and 8:30 or later. We picked 5:30, but I will keep checking back to see if something else becomes available.

My husband will agree with you. He keeps saying he is going to turn B's room into a library when she moves out. I was hoping for a huge closet.

Never had any real discomfort from past shots/boosters until today.
Arm swelled up quickly which surprised me.
Assume it will not be a nuisance soon.
Hope your arm is feeling better. My worst shot was the shingles vaccine.

I had just the smallest bit of frost on my windshield yesterday. I want fall, but not ready for winter.

Beautiful almost summer like day here today at a balmy 68F and gorgeous sunshine!! It won`t last I`m sure but we`ll enjoy it while we can. Nothing like an autumnal day with sunshine.
A perfect day for me.

So similar, but not as horrific as a time share. I have heard that the DVC employees aren't nearly as pushy as time share ones.

Hope your hubby feels better soon. Chicken Noodle soup is the best homemade feel good soup.
Thanks. Normally I just roll my eyes when he gets a cold because he usually overreacts. This time he isn't eating much and is sleeping much more than usual, so I think he may really be sick. Fortunately he is starting to feel better.

I got a cold. Think it was my gift from the hospital. Trying to make sure I don’t give it to hubby as he does not need anything else to deal with.
Sorry to hear that. Hope it doesn't last too long.

I keep saying I’am not going to buy anymore Halloween decorations every year, but I do end up finding something anyway.
I say that about Christmas ornaments.

Quick stop in before I head out for lunch.
Welcome back. Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Epic tickets on sale next week. Hopefully APs get a soft opening. We renew in Dec.

I really want to go but am worried about how bad the crowds will be. I'm wondering if January 2026 would be a good time. My AP renews in December too.

Well, I have absolutely nothing planned for today. It may be a sit and stitch kind of day.

I think it's a good time to start a countdown to B's birthday trip.

IMG_0732.gif

It's apparently going to be rez or date based and tickets priced accordingly.
I'm sure there will ne passholder swag as they alluded to some groups having access to an earlier opening date.
