Something About Nothing............ #14

OMGosh, Keishashadow, that sounds like a scary trip. I hope the doctors appointment went okay?
Better than expected! Seems I'm on the health system hampster wheel lately lol
My bread machine died, so I'm trying to find another one. I love making bread in the machine:)
Same! I've used mine more these days for making dough for rolls & flatbreads
BTW, I went to Hobby Lobby today and they Had Christmas trees UP and had several isles filled with Christmas Decorations!!!!
How dare they skip Halloween Hmmph
I usually have 2 books going at once!
My brain not sharp enough lol

Late night check in. I had a brief panic moment tonight. My phone rang and then disconnected twice. The call was coming from my SIL. I was worried that something happened to my brother. I called her back and thankfully it was just a misdial.

I`m visualising Home Alone 2 in Chicago airport where they all run for the plane. Yes, that`s not fun.

And hope the mouse goes elsewhere!!
I think we will be able to make it, but I will be out of breath when I get to the gate. I’ve moved our seats as close to the from of the plane as I could, so hopefully we will be some of the first people to exit.
No sign of the mouse in any of the traps today.

Best laid plans......but glad plans changed. Managed to get a cancellation for a spa day with my friend Felicity as a treat for her for putting us up when we got our roof done, but they said they had a special for an overnight stay, so, told her to pack an overnight bag and we headed off for the evening! It was lovely, got there in time for lunch yesterday and an afternoon of fuss for her.
What a nice thank you gift.

Dh came home last night - opened his new insurance policy for his truck - and nearly had a heart attack - as the rates had dramatically increased. So onto the phone he went. We were expecting an increase due to ds's accident in May. But OMG...this was outrageous :faint::eek:

We ended up with our youngest ds now having his own (any paying for) insurance policy on my old car that he is driving. Ds was still on our old policy. He has been driving my old car - and now will purchase that from us as well. It's part of the growing up phase - and it's time ::yes::

I got a walk in last night as well - which was nice. My microwave has been acting funky every now and then and today - it just fizzled out. :scared1: More like sparked it's self out. Scared the ever-living cr@p out of me. Tonight is going to find a new microwave and look at getting some new blinds for the house.
Ours increased considerably when we added B to the plan. Once she gets a full time job she gets her own policy.

Good luck on the microwave shopping.

Had to drive into city today for dr appt in horrid storm. Well, I was riding shotgun. Lost count of the wrecks, cars skidding off the side of road after not slowing down in the low lying areas of the highway. First time ever, heading up a mountain, observed a waterfall effect on the road with a solid rush of water all the way up. This was in truck with wipers on high at 8 am.
That does not look good at all. I hate driving in the rain. Even more so if it’s at night.

Did u check to see how that flight is re landing on time?
The flight from Charlotte to Orlando has an 80% on time rate. The were no statistics for the flight from my home airport to Charlotte. Fortunately I have had good luck with flights. I hope I didn’t just jinx that.

Slow cooked expresso and dry rubbed brisket with smoked mixed chili beans tonight.
Anyone else think we should have a SANS meeting at DJ’s house?

Charade, I hope this gets figured out for you. I had a flight this Spring that I only had a 45 minute layover in Minneapolis, But I know that airport, and I would of had to walk all the way from one end to the other, which is a long, long, way. I ended up cancelling that trip because I couldn't get a good connector flight. I hope things are working out for you.
Thankfully Charlotte isn’t as large as some airports. It can get rather busy though since it is a hub for American Airlines.

BTW, I went to Hobby Lobby today and they Had Christmas trees UP and had several isles filled with Christmas Decorations!!!! You could have knocked me over with a feather! THAT is way too early for Christmas decs - it's still July for crying out loud!
Last time I was at Hobby Lobby it was about 50% fall decorations. I’m sure they have Christmas stuff out now too. I also saw both Halloween and Christmas merchandise the last time I was in Cracker Barrel.

DisneySeniors, Yes, public schools start early in our district.
And they finish the school year In May.

Quite a few days off for holidays and events.
Our county schools start August 12 and get out May 23.

Almost midnight. I should get some sleep. I’m anticipating a slow day tomorrow.

Our kids start after Labor Day and end mid June.

And what day is it?

IMG_3601.jpeg

Hehe camel. Hopefully making others laugh. And yay, we’re at the last Wednesday in July, and the last day of July, so fitting, that get over this hump feeling day, and not only welcome the month of August when you wake up tomorrow, but then that first Friday in August is then a day away.

Woot! me and little one, and 3 members of my large extended family, have birthdays in August. Lots of candles used this coming soon month. lol

Still in that week day routine. Glad I have not seen that rodent Charade has in her office in mine. Ick. I hate mice in a house or business.

Back to routine I go. Hope all have a Most Wonderful Wednesday today.

Now, i’m considering watch sixth sense again. Lol. It never gets old, always notice something different each viewing.

That spa day sounded divine. Tell me there was some chocolate on the pillow to end the day :)

No chocolate on the pillow, but in each room they placed a little thought for the day card on the bedside cabinet........mine was rubbish!!! Something about how I enjoy exercise in my lifestyle.....pah!!!! Couch potato here!!

Love the Sixth Sense!!! Gets me every time, hankies at the end for sure.

It ABSOLUTELY was!!!

Yikes, I hate those kind of trips! I'm glad your back home safe and sound.

Sounds like it was a great way to spend your day yesterday!

Back to doing meeting minutes :surfweb: The only task I dread.

It was a lovely time, even I admitted it was one of the best Spa`s we had been to.

Hope the meeting went well, yes never fun.

Pumpkin, that is what I love to do. I usually have 2 books going at once! and puzzles are kept on the tables all winter:)

Oh, I hate rodents with a passion. I hope they catch it soon! Ick.

She is very lucky to have you for a friend! Wow, what a nice treat.:)

That fresh salmon sounds delicious. We don't get fresh salmon around here which is a shame.

We had our home owners increased recently - it was a big increase! So far, knock on wood, our auto insurance hasn't gotten increased. I'm thinking about checking out other insurance companies, even though ours has treated us good in the past.

We are with you on the rain situation. Things are so dry here and our grass is all brown. It's been really hot for us near 90 with high humidity.

OMGosh, Keishashadow, that sounds like a scary trip. I hope the doctors appointment went okay?

LOL, I bet that gave you quite a scare. The Sixth Sense is the only horror film that really got to me. I didn't figure out that he was dead til the end! I can't watch it anymore - spooks me out too much!

That sounds wonderful! I love dry rubbed brisket!

Mac: I can't believe you saw school buses already??? When did the schools start the season so early?? Ours start in September.

Oh, Carole, congratulations on your new watch for an early birthday present:)

I've had one of those days where nothing is planned but I ended up going to town and making several small stops at the stores for one or two things we needed. It felt like a lot of running around for not much of anything.

My bread machine died, so I'm trying to find another one. I love making bread in the machine:) I could just save the money and go to the bakery in town. They have a wide selection of fresh baked breads every day. Only thing is, I can't get out of there without their donuts, cakes, cookies:)

My husband and daughters Wood Carving event went very well. this past weekend. We all had fun visiting with all the people who stopped by and they sold quite a bit. It's a fun event which draws a lot of people each year for the one day event. It was Hot though and looked like rain in the afternoon, so the crowds slowed down in the afternoon. Now hubby is busy making more things for the next fair, which is before Christmas. BTW, I went to Hobby Lobby today and they Had Christmas trees UP and had several isles filled with Christmas Decorations!!!! You could have knocked me over with a feather! THAT is way too early for Christmas decs - it's still July for crying out loud!

Well, on that note, I am leaving to water the flower gardens (takes about 45 minutes). We have way too many but we love planting them and looking at them all summer. About this time of year it gets tiring watering every night though.

Have a good rest of the week.

ruth

I have tried two books at once, but not for a long time, my brain doesn`t focus on two now......especially as I`ve just started reading Dr Zhivago again, that does take a lot of concentration even though I know the story inside out! I love it though.

You could be doing with some rain to save you having to go round watering, your garden is stunningly beautiful though, worth the time.

They are very good friends for sure, both of them. It really was just a small thank you for treating us like vip guests in their home when the roof was being done. I admit, we both feel very much at home at each other`s houses, home from home, but they did go out of their way to welcome us.

Thank you, I love the watch....I honestly had become a grumble bum about not knowing the time, speed and distance and all the other stuff it tells you when walking, so it was very thoughtful of them and I can get notifications again which I did miss.

I adore Christmas....but agree, July, August and September are far too soon, but our stores will have all the Christmas stuff out as soon as the kids go back to school in September. Halloween not so big over here but they do sell stuff, just nowhere near as elaborate as Christmas.

Lucky people that will get to buy all your husband and daughter can make for the next event, they are so talented.

DisneySeniors, Yes, public schools start early in our district.
And they finish the school year In May.

Quite a few days off for holidays and events.

I always forget so many places end so early in America and then of course go back. Here in England kids break up in July and go back September, Scotland they break up in June and go back mid August. Private schools are also different too.

Late night check in. I had a brief panic moment tonight. My phone rang and then disconnected twice. The call was coming from my SIL. I was worried that something happened to my brother. I called her back and thankfully it was just a misdial.

Almost midnight. I should get some sleep. I’m anticipating a slow day tomorrow.

That is freaky when you get a call like that, glad it was done in error!

Sounds like the mouse has gone! And yes you should be fine getting off the plane earlier than others.

Another beautiful day here, we are being spoiled! Rain might occur tomorrow morning but that might change, hopefully.

Met up with some friends for a walk and breakfast this morning, we went out at 6.30 and walked around 7 miles, but it was slower than we usually walk as we seem to chat more and that slows us down, plus the dogs always amble off somewhere. Went into one of the beach cafe`s afterwards, it was mobbed, so we sat at three tables beside each other as the bigger tables were all occupied. Nice though, food is very good and filling so we won`t need lunch today.

Grilling out tonight, have some chicken marinading in piri piri spices will do the usual sides and maybe some blackened shrimp too will see how we feel.

It`s a sitting in the garden day today again, it`s not going to be blazing hot, but sitting out there surrounded by trees and bushes, it feels hotter anyway, mid 70`s is nice.

Have a lovely Wednesday and last day of July......heck!!!!

Yes, good luck with the driveway, hope it goes well and all plain sailing!
Thank you Carole. The driveway is in. They finished pouring the concrete yesterday. Will have to stay off of it for awhile, but it looks nice.

It is great you get to spend so much time with him and have a great relationship with others in your family.
If you keep doing that - he will have many fond memories of you and the time you two spent together. I still vividly remember doing things with my Aunts - they played a huge part of my childhood days.
I feel truly blessed to had such wonderful people in my family.

I have an aunt who is very special to me. She is an incredible baker and taught me a lot about cooking, She is my moms twin and the only one left in her family.

Little J is the sweetest little boy. He is my shopping and Starbucks buddy. Like me he loves the water. He likes going to the splash pad and pool.

I hope he has fond memories of our time together when he grows up.

I so admire Celine Dion, her documentary was a hard watch, but goodness me that woman has grace!
That was hard to watch and very brave of her to share her story. It is raw and honest.

It was so wonderful to see her singing in the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

I whipped up beer can chicken last night - with some roasted potatoes and asparagus. Of course, I went to the butcher to get the chicken - which is from a local Mennonite colony. Those free range chickens are that tastiest and juiciest as well. Such great quality meat. We are very fortunate to be able to purchase their chickens. They are nothing like the grocery store ones. I almost want to go get another one - and toss it into the airfryer for dh and I use up all week.
I made the beer can chicken many moons ago. It is very good and moist.

You are right fresh free range chickens are the best.

Best laid plans......but glad plans changed. Managed to get a cancellation for a spa day with my friend Felicity as a treat for her for putting us up when we got our roof done, but they said they had a special for an overnight stay, so, told her to pack an overnight bag and we headed off for the evening! I’am sorry I got rid of my bread machine a few years ago, I just did not use it that often. Now I wish I had it again.

Well, on that note, I am leaving to water the flower gardens (takes about 45 minutes). We have way too many but we love planting them and looking at them all summer. About this time of year it gets tiring watering every night though.
I bet you have a beautiful flower garden.

It just seems like time is flying by. Not sure where the summer has gone.

My face is healing well. So thankful for that. Our sons procedure in this coming month and I spoke to him already and I’am going with him.

I helped granddaughter and her hubby do some sculpting on their bushes in the front of their new home on Saturday. We reset the decorative stones and did some red mulch. The results were night and day. They were very pleased and I loved spending time with them. It was hot and humid, but I loved being with them and being outdoors.

So I needed a few days to recover.

Hubby and I hired our brother in law who is a contracter to put new porch railings and had the old steps removed and new ones poured. He did a great job. It was our gift to them on their new house.

It is a beautiful home and I’am happy for them.

Grandson is starting his Junior year of College in a couple of weeks. He has been busy with working this summer.

Yesterday about three hours after the guys had finished pouring the second section of the driveway a rain storm came through and drenched everything. It amazes me with all the new fangled things they do with concrete that make it set up quickly. They will be back out to seal it tomorrow.

Hubby and I went out to dinner last night and then stopped at the store. He doesn’t usually go to store with me. He typically does not like going to the store.

It was funny watching him walk through the store literally like a kid in a candy shop. He wondered through the bakery and picked a pie he liked and other items he thought he wanted. He looked at me and said “It is horrible how they put all these snacks and sweets in the isles to tempt people” as he picked up a box of twinkies laughing….LOL….I never buy those things.

When we came out of the store we saw how ominous the clouds looked heading our way and made the run home.

At about 6:30 pm our tornado warnings went off and my cell phone went off with the weather warning telling folks to seek shelter in your basement or the interior of your home. It went from day to night in seconds. The thunder, lightening and massive winds and rain hit. We lost power then I heard what sounded like trees falling.

Our neighbor across the street had a large tree uprooted in her yard. There is a lot of tree and limb debris outside. As far as I can see no home damage here. Will take the binoculars to check what I can see of our roof today. We have a large two story so seeing everything from the ground is impossible, but if anything looks off will have someone come out and have a look.

Others a mile or two behind us did have some home damage and as far as I can tell there was only one injury accounted for so far. Thank the Lord.

Thanks to the hardworking power folks a as our power was back on after 4 hours.

This is not our first rodeo with Tornados and thank the Lord we have only suffered minimal damage to our houses and cars over the years. Others I know have not been so fortunate so lots of prayers in the past and present for those who have lost their lives and homes to these terrible storms. They seem to be getting worse as the years roll by.

I find it interesting and maddening how some people will go out to see the damage in different areas after a tornado while the fire and police are telling people not to do that.

A few years ago we were hit with a F1-F2 here and people literally rode over barriers into the grass to get into our neighborhood to see the damage.

On November 6th 2005 our whole town was shut down by the National Guard to keep people away and to help rescuers get to people in the most severe tornado we have went through in this town so far. It was a F3 and 25 people died and there were clothes, toys and clocks dangling in the trees. That is still a raw memory.

During those particular bad instances I saw our community come together and folks that wanted to help were staged at a local church and brought their chainsaws and heavy equipment to help clear streets and homes of the debris.

We were lucky this time. Trees can be cut down, limbs can be picked up, roofs and the like can be repaired, minor injuries will heal. So thankful it was not worse.

Going out to pick up limbs.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone,

It's hump day :surfweb: This week is really dragging!!!! Next summer - I'll be able to take some time off in the summer. This past week - I really could have used some time off just to putz around the house and in generally relax. Next year I'll have 4 weeks of holidays :cheer2:I won't know what to do with all that time off!

Went out last night to look at microwaves. I will have to order one. There is not much in stock to walk out of the store with. Dh wants the fancier one with wifi...and I just want simple - with 2 lights underneath to help with cooking on the stovetop. Mine is cheaper - so hopefully that one wins.

We went out for dinner after shopping - as it was just the two of us - and neither of us wanted to cook. Went to a local bbq place. Had a great meal. We have eaten out waaaaaaaaaaaay to much this past month. It's time to cook at home more again.

Went for a quick walk over my morming break. It is cool and windy again. The clouds look like there might be some rain coming. The skies this morning on my way to work were bright clear and blue! Reminded me of Florida skies.

Checked my count down today 64 days until we are stepping onto a plane to head to Orlando!!! Next Thursday is my booking day for the Disney portion of our trip! Ds's want to make the light sabers...and I'll have to decide if we want to try to do any Disney dining.

Back to routine I go
I hope your break away from the regular routine was great and ready to tackle routine life again.
Met up with some friends for a walk and breakfast this morning, we went out at 6.30 and walked
That is great you have a group of friends to do that with.

I will send you healing mummy dust so that you continue to heal. Good luck to your son
When we came out of the store we saw how ominous the clouds looked heading our way and made the run home.
I am glad you are safe and sound - with minimal damage to your property. That is VERY scary.

Well, I should get a few more things off my to-do list.

Have a great Wednesday everyone :wave2:

Today did not go as expected. I woke up with a severely upset stomach. I called out of work and spent most of the day cross stitching and watching the Olympics. I ate some toast a little while ago. Hopefully my stomach has settled enough to handle it.

I just got an email from AA letting me know my flight has been changed. That should have been sent 2 days ago. I have the opportunity to change my flight at no charge, but I will probably leave it as is. I’ll see what B wants to do.

Good morning everyone :wave2:

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone,

Glad the driveway is finished, it is an inconvenience for a time but, it`ll be worth it.

Thank you, we did have a lovely time.

I agree with you completely, where has the summer gone, ours barely got started lol.....

That tornado from 2005 sounds horrific Robbie with the tornado. There are some things you just have to wait it out and pray and that is one of them. The damage and loss of these things never really leaves you. I remember in 2022 and we had to stay an extra week in Orlando due to the hurricane, the staff were saying they had people who wanted to go out in it!!! They said they told them they couldn`t stop them, but seriously advised against it. Wouldn`t be me.

Glad to hear this one wasn`t as bad, yes, things can be cleared and tidied, no loss of life is a blessing.

Hope your grandson is excited to start college soon! Such a fun time for them and still sending all good wishes for your son`s upcoming procedure, he`ll be glad to have you with him I`m sure.

I agree with you on microwaves, they don`t need to be fancy or complicated. We had an all singing all dancing one that was also a grill/combi grill/oven and I never used it as such for those, but "someone" thought it would be better. I still think the one we have now does too many things I don`t use either, it`s barely used but I do use it to give something a quick blast now and again, never for cooking. I`d have been happy with one with one or two buttons lol ....we`re not hard to please are we.

I love my friends!!!

It must be exciting getting close to your reservation time for Disney!!!

Is it 4:00 yet :rolleyes2 :crazy2:

Hope it passed quickly for you, when that clock doesn`t feel as it`s moving....bleurgh!!

Hope you feel better Charade, tummy upsets are no fun, little bit of toast is a good thing to have when it`s like that.

Another stinking hot day.

Told Mr Mac too hot to cook dinner so went out to eat.

I am sure you see a pattern here…

lol...quite right mac!! You have some lovely restaurants to choose from close by you, hope you enjoyed it.

Any signs of your weather cooling down???

We were warned it could rain today, but so far it is glorious, so will head out walking soon, although they have said we may get thunderstorms later, we always pay the price for decent weather, we don`t get spoiled in the UK for very long that`s for sure!!

First day of August already, and although she doesn`t post anymore I want to wish our mate Vicki...... @tink1957 a very....

i-v3nGN2z-S.gif

i-bBxMf9G-S.gif

Hope you have a great day Vicki, we miss you posting and hope you and your two lovely kids are doing fabulously!!!!

I have two family birthdays this month, one is Tom`s of course and one brother along with several friends one of whom is refusing to now acknowledge how old she will be..lol....she`s only two years older than me but you`d think she was turning 100 instead of 59!!!

So, no real plans today apart from some shopping after our walk, might get some housework done later. Had my first cup of tea this morning, ready for another before breakfast which I think will be just be breakfast muffins or croissants, more tea for sure.

Not sure what we`ll have for dinner tonight, will see if the weather is going to change for us or if the thunder will miss us, I don`t mind a good storm now and again, we don`t get drastic ones usually, but seeing a thunderstorm over the sea is always impressive. Might have something with chicken that can be cooked inside or out.

And Thursday almost the weekend!!!!

Have a wonderful Thursday :sunny:

i-nqFk6gq-X2.jpg

The sea was like glass this morning, barely a ripple anywhere except where the fisherman were coming in, absolutely beautiful. But very humid, I won`t be surprised if we do get a big storm tonight.

Tom is off volunteering this afternoon, so it`s just me sitting in the garden enjoying the heat, and it is just a little too hot with the humidity to be sitting in the sun, so I`m in the shade but wow.....drinking plenty of water for sure.

We will be grilling outside tonight, got some lovely chicken thighs from the butcher, now marinading nicely in a few ingredients, veg skewers to go with them, we have loads of mushrooms so they`ll do nicely.

Nice quiet day here and it is weirdly still out here, barely a leaf on the trees moving, but we did notice this morning and can`t quite believe this, but some trees are already starting to change to more autumnal colours, just a little, but holy moly, it`s only the first day of August!!! Too early for that!!

May they all find their forever homes!

Busy few days, today dropped my car off for inspection. It’s older but barely 70K miles on it, no major issues, it’s a keeper. The Mr’s truck is the same, very low miles since we now tend to fly most places re travel.

mine was rubbish!!! Something about how I enjoy exercise in my lifestyle.....pah!!!!
Sounds like a rather lame fortune cookie message
especially as I`ve just started reading Dr Zhivago again, that does take a lot of concentration even though I know the story inside out! I love it though.
That is a commitment but, so worth it. The original movie with Julie Christie is an oldie but goodie. I need to remember to look to see if it’s still streaming anywhere
Thank you Carole. The driveway is in. They finished pouring the concrete yesterday. Will have to stay off of it for awhile, but it looks nice.
Always good to have work done well.

My contractor (DH :)), is installing a new outdoor lamp post light. The glass panels in existing one have discolored, despite soaking them in Clorox water?

Good enough excuse to get a more modern one & dusk to dawn sort. We have many motion lights re the security but, wanted at least one to stay on all night since remembering to turn it off & on is beyond my capabilities
I’am sorry I got rid of my bread machine a few years ago, I just did not use it that often. Now I wish I had it again.
big ones are difficult to find, had to hunt for one as a requested gift last year
This is not our first rodeo with Tornados and thank the Lord we have only suffered minimal damage to our houses and cars over the years. Others I know have not been so fortunate so lots of prayers in the past and present for those who have lost their lives and homes to these terrible storms. They seem to be getting worse as the years roll by.
Glad to hear you are ok
A few years ago we were hit with a F1-F2 here and people literally rode over barriers into the grass to get into our neighborhood to see the damage.
Ghouls. Would be different if they were coming with intent to help those who needed it, even in a small way
Went out last night to look at microwaves. I will have to order one. There is not much in stock to walk out of the store with.
No, there is not. Here, mostly just stock built in sorts. I admittedly do like the bells & whistles to a certain point.
Next Thursday is my booking day for the Disney portion of our trip! Ds's want to make the light sabers...and I'll have to decide if we want to try to do any Disney dining.
That was fun. The drone’s appeal wore off before we left the park with family. Not as much fun as you’d think to haul that stuff around all day lol

When in Rome…I’d book something or other. Doesn’t have to be the fancy places. Disney Springs has lots of options, including some decent CS places.

Better now?

ooh, a buying opportunity re the flights. Check the fine print, you can likely make changes up to shortly before flight time.

We received two more changes for fall travel with SWA. They’ve increased the time frame permittable (now 14 days on either side! And up to 2 separate changes each).

Another stinking hot day.

Told Mr Mac too hot to cook dinner so went out to eat.

I am sure you see a pattern here…
My rule was always no cooking if 90+. Since we’ve had so many days this summer, just didn’t feel right pulling it off & got sick of takeout.

Made fall back dinner yesterday, steak hoagie for the mr & grilled Italian sausages & peppers for rest of us. Leftovers today, will put sausage over pasta.
I`d have been happy with one with one or two buttons lol ....we`re not hard to please are we.
Haha

It's Thursday - the weekend is on the horizon - and a long weekend ahead as well!!!! Thank goodness yesterday is over. That was the longest day ever!!!! My brain was mush by 3:00. I couldn't think anymore.

Quiet night last night. I did get out for a walk - but the wind was chilly enough for me to put a sweatshirt on :rolleyes2 . I went to water my plants and noticed that my plants are finally starting to catch up. My cucumbers and peas are finally starting bloom and it looks like I'll get a decent haul of tomatoes as well again this year. Hopefully I can find enough tomatoes to maybe make some homemade salsa and marinara again.

Since I didn't take any meat out to defrost, I hit the grocery store quick on the way home. Found some italian sausage on sale - so picked that up and whipped up some spaghetti and meat sauce. That was about all my brain could come up with for a dinner idea. Added a ceasar salad to use up the last of the romaine lettuce and took out a couple slices of garlic bread - and a tasty meal.

The sea was like glass this morning, barely a ripple anywhere except where the fisherman were coming in, absolutely beautiful. But very humid, I won`t be surprised if we do get a big storm tonight.
Beautiful picture!!!! I hope you enjoyed your warm day!

I was cutting dh's hair last night - and we both commented that we already missed our hot weather  It feels like we probably had all of the HOT HOT HOT heat we will get for this year. We have been able to cool the house off with just having our windows open. Our temps have been decent - just not the warm 30's temps that soak right into your body.
I’d book something or other. Doesn’t have to be the fancy places. Disney Springs has lots of options, including some decent CS places.
That's exactly what I was thinking!!! For at least 2 of our Disney days anyways. We will stay in MK until after the fireworks. I want everyone to experience that! We will be driving to the parks - so we will be taking their light sabers out to the car once they are done building and taking pictures with them in Galaxies Edge. They are so pumped to do it!

Well, I should get back to a few more tasks I need to get done yet today. Waiting for a return phone call about moving one consult for next week - Our locum Dr - doesn't fly in until noon - so I'm trying to move one more consult to a different time - especially when I TOLD navigation to NOT book morning consults that day as we didn't have the Dr's flight schedule yet :sad2: Grrrrrrrr

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!

Woot! When office is warmer than outside….House feels so much cooler. Ah, thank goodness for laptops.

Kids went to deli for hoagies. Seems a perfect Summer lunch.

Now that is a nice thing to have a "special day" for, better than celebrating a taco!!

Yes, that`s exactly what it was like, a cheap fortune cookie, considering how nice the place is, it felt a little bit of a cheap addition to their services which are beautiful.

Dr Zhivago is an amazing film too, incredibly sad, always bawl my eyes out and quite hard to watch at times. The book I adore, haven`t read it in a few years so getting stuck into it now.

Happy new lamp post light!!!! I love them and yes leave it on all night. I`d love those old fashioned ones like in the black and white movies that are run on gas, they light them when it`s all foggy....love em!!!

Hoagies! Nice.....always popular!!!!!!

Glad the car did ok today.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!

Hope it warms up for you again, it`s too early for cold! And hope today was a better day for you!

Thanks!!! I have really enjoyed our warm weather, especially sitting chilling in the garden! You reminded me I haven`t made a chicken caesar salad for a long time!

I think everyone here thinks the way you do, anyday now summer will be over lol, even thought it barely started!! I wouldn`t live anywhere else though.

And hope you get your appointments sorted!

Perfect afternoon.....hot sunshine, iced lemonade, listening to The Carpenters and reading Dr Zhivago with the mobile phone left up at the house, peaceful indeed.

Didn`t Karen Carpenter have the most harmonious and beautiful voices, every note is effortless.

Tom came home earlier, so got the chicken and veg kebabs on the bbq, they were very nice and went well with spicy couscous. Having a pot of tea right now, still outside and we have a mango each for later, will stone, peel and chop it later. Think we`ll be inside soon, forecast is possible cloud tonight.

lol....weird light fog rolling in now from the sea, that wasn`t forecast either!! Time to retire inside I think. And going to be another glorious day tomorrow too, another early morning walk for us. :sunny:

Air fryer is a life changer.
Especially in the summer to avoid using the oven. It and the Instapot have saved my summer with the unusual 90+ days on end here

Today unboxed the ninja system. Short work of cabbage for slaw & first attempt at healthy smoothies (pineapple, strawberries and bananas) a big hit. Family didn't believe no dairy. Although I did top mine with dollop of reddiwhip.

Checked my count down today 64 days until we are stepping onto a plane to head to Orlando!!! Next Thursday is my booking day for the Disney portion of our trip! Ds's want to make the light sabers...and I'll have to decide if we want to try to do any Disney dining.
Yay! It’s getting close. I have over 200 days until my next Disney trip. We might be crazy, but we aren’t booking any ADRs (with the possible exception of Hoop Dee Doo if we can get it) on this trip. We’re just going to wing it.

Hope you feel better Charade, tummy upsets are no fun, little bit of toast is a good thing to have when it`s like that.
Thank you. I feel much better today.

Dh wants 2 lamp posts at the end of our driveway. Our neighborhood is very dark. We keep our porch lights on all the time.

ooh, a buying opportunity re the flights. Check the fine print, you can likely make changes up to shortly before flight time.
I was able to switch to a flight that leaves my airport the same time, but will give us an extra hour in Charlotte so we won’t feel as rushed. I just hope they don’t change the flight again before November.

I think everyone here thinks the way you do, anyday now summer will be over lol, even thought it barely started!! I wouldn`t live anywhere else though.
I’m the odd one out who is looking forward to cooler fall weather.

Didn`t Karen Carpenter have the most harmonious and beautiful voices, every note is effortless.
She had such a beautiful voice. So tragic that she died at such a young age.

Well, I’m feeling better today but one of the therapists is out with covid. I spent part of the day trying to reschedule the clients she had to cancel today.
And in other news, the office mouse is no more. I found it in a glue trap today when I went to lunch. Hopefully there aren’t others.

Another Dr Zhivago fan. I so miss watching it with my mom.
I have to admit to using all the bells and whistles on our microwave/ convection oven/ air fryer. Air fryer is a life changer.

It is an incredible movie. As is usual, the book is better, but David Lean did an amazing job.

Especially in the summer to avoid using the oven. It and the Instapot have saved my summer with the unusual 90+ days on end here

lol....we tend not to get those high temps, but even so, cooking properly is generally a no no when it`s hot.

Smoothies like that are always a hit, yes they stay very creamy. Now I need to Google reddiwhip!

There will always be somewhere to eat Charade, we book nothing and survive just fine.

I love autumn too Charade, that changing of the season is so beautiful and I love how cosy everything is that time of year, winter coats, new boots, big oversized jumpers and cosy nights, yep, not the worst season.

I always remember Frank Sinatra saying the only person he would ever pay to hear sing live was Karen Carpenter, she was one of a kind and a very tragic death that could so easily have been avoided.

Glad you`re doing better!!!

7 mile walk this morning, well, just short....but it was so darn hot and not a single breath but it was beautiful and extra busy along the promenade, folks making the most of it before it changes, we are so pessimistic about weather over here. With good reason.

Back home, showered changed and out to get a few bits and pieces from the local farm store. Going to do chicken skewers again tonight with pinapple and peppers and another set of skewers with mushrooms and courgettes. Chicken will be in a spicy teriyaki glaze and will make up spicy couscous and coleslaw, too hot to do much else.

I did make my hair appointment for just before we go away, and it is just before we go away, the day before, will keep it a little bit longer than it was just so I can get a little ponytail and it will be a little one. I don`t regret getting it all chopped off in May.

Lazy afternoon for us, told Tom not to volunteer today as it is so beautiful, so, we are lazing in the garden right now and it is hot!

We enjoyed shrimp cocktail (UK style) open sandwich for lunch with salad, made up some honey mustard dressing, and one of our friends popped round who has a shellfish allergy so did her a chicken salad sandwich, it was perfect for such a hot day.
