Something About Nothing............ #14

Quick Saturday morning stop in before I start to putter around the house.

The sun is shinning again today! So that is a win in my books!!! Still cool and windy right now. We will see if it gets as warm as the forecast is calling for! My garden pots of veggies in the backyard need some sun and heat again.

Quiet night last night. Went for a quick walk - after finally deciding on pizza for dinner. Ordered from a new local place - and I think we will be ordering again from there. It was very tasty - and the place was EXTREMELY clean when I walked in to pick up our order.

Have a great trip!!!!

Dj, that is horrible. I am always grateful I don't have that side effect from mine. Vertigo and nausea will lay me out FLAT. I have a high pain tollerance - but you give me nausea or vertigo - I AM DONE!

She was amazing!!!! It is great to see her out performing again after her diagnosis. I hope she will continue to be able to do some performing. She is on y bucket list of people to see. Hopefully one day! I hope your happy with the outcome of the qualifying of the Grande Prix. I did see one Grande Prix when it was in Vancouver - YEARS ago! Very cool to watch.

Well, I should get going and start to putter and tidy some corners in the house.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

I so admire Celine Dion, her documentary was a hard watch, but goodness me that woman has grace!

F1 in Vancouver??

Yes, enjoyed the qualifying....anyone but Hamilton!!

Nice to find a decent new place to eat! I do like the differences in our language too....you say putter around, we say potter around....lol......

Had such a lovely day doing not very much.

Tom made breakfast and lunch, I washed the new clothes I had ordered, he went round and sent back the stuff I didn`t want, watched the qualifying and one of my friends popped round, she is a ghoul and wanted to see my sore mouth  absolutely true!

Made lasagne for dinner tonight, Felicity brought round some lovely garlic, tomatoes and mushrooms from their kitchen garden, beautiful. She also brought her big German Shepherd, Kaiser.....love that dog and he doesn`t get freaked out passing our dining room the way one of her other dogs does!! He does give a double take passing it though, so maybe Poppy is right.

Trying to decide which films to watch tonight, might do Bad Boys, haven`t watched them for a while.

Love a Saturday night just the two of us 🥰

I have whined and complained to Mr Mac most of today of how lousy I feel.

I have zero get up and go today.

It’s stinking hot today.

You would think he would be kind and attentive to my needs and say something that would make me feel better instead of asking me what will I fix for dinner tonight.

Little does he know he will pickup the food order at the Choo Choo down the street this evening.

Awww.....hope you feel better soon mac, that heat can zap you, but you`ll enjoy Choo Choo tonight and so will mr mac!!!

Tom can`t find the Bad Boys DVD`s....I`m beginning to think to myself they may be among the ones I threw out whe we had one of several clear outs...oops!!!

Time to choose something else I think!

And a good Sunday morning....another beautiful day here, sunny, warm and no breeze!

Got up before the birds this morning and headed down the seafront before it got crowded, walked our 5 miles before the prom got busy. There were even a load of folks in the water which was so nice to see, not for us though. Tried a new sunscreen too, seems to be ok, might stick to it over here.

Came home, showered and went shopping for some bits and bobs, popped into the farm for eggs, got a tray of 30, should do us as I have no plans to bake this coming week.

Turkey open sandwiches for lunch, chicken skewers with veggie skewers for dinner tonight, Tom will grill them for us and of course the Grand Prix in there too. Think Kyle will be here after lunch to watch the race.

Laundry on line, they`ll dry in no time at all today!

Happy Sunday :sunny:

Happy Sunday. It’s a lazy day. No NASCAR this week and next, so I am watching some of the Olympics.

We had a little adventure laptop shopping yesterday. B’s laptop is dying, so we were looking for a new one. Tried to buy from Target online because they are offering a 20% discount for college students. The app wouldn’t apply the discount, so we headed over to the store only to find out that the discount wasn’t offered on that particular brand. I thought I had read the list of exclusions carefully, but I missed it. We found another laptop at Walmart that was similar to the first one. Problem - I have a $200 virtual Visa gift card that i wanted to apply to the payment, but couldn’t use it in the store. I tried ordering the computer online, but it wouldn’t allow me to split the payment. I tried ordering a Walmart gift card but couldn’t. I finally gave up and just paid with a credit card. I will use the virtual card for something else.

Sometime today I need to get to the grocery store.

Hope everyone os having a nice Sunday afternoon.

I haven`t watched much of the olympics at all this time around, but as the weather has been nice we`ve been outside most of the time, I`m sure we`ll catch up with some of it at some point.

Glad your daughter has a new computer, but what a carry on you had to use the gift card!

Lovely day yesterday, watched the race then sat outside for a time with Kyle just enjoying the sunshine, he went home later and then invited some friends round for an impromptu get together last night, we sat in the garden all evening, it was so warm and no breeze at all.

I did get a very early birthday present from Tom and Kyle, a new Garmin watch as mine died a few weeks ago, I was complaining about wearing a regular watch, so rather than wait till next month I got it yesterday, heck it is so much more complicated than my old one!!! We did manage to connect it to my phone so I get txts, calls and emails on it, but holy moly.....technology!!!!

Up early again, heading out an early walk as it is going to be hot again, then we have the window people coming this afternoon to fix the master bathroom window, they shouldn`t be here long at all.

Shrimp salad for lunch and grilling some chicken again tonight with some veggie kebabs.

But, after our walk and shower, into shorts and tees again and plan to sit in the garden for a time this morning, going to be warm enough for sunscreen! And it`s going to be lovely all week by the look of the forecast :sunny:

Have a wonderful Monday :-)

Annnnnnd it's Monday :surfweb: back to work I go, as we didn't win the lottery over the weekend.

Had a quiet day yesterday. Dh and boys went to the airshow all day yesterday - so I had the house all to myself. I just enjoyed sitting back - in the backyard with a book and puzzle most of the day. I haven't had a day like that in a long time. It was the perfect temperature - with just a little breeze to help keep the temperature down.

I whipped up beer can chicken last night - with some roasted potatoes and asparagus. Of course, I went to the butcher to get the chicken - which is from a local Mennonite colony. Those free range chickens are that tastiest and juiciest as well. Such great quality meat. We are very fortunate to be able to purchase their chickens. They are nothing like the grocery store ones. I almost want to go get another one - and toss it into the airfryer for dh and I use up all week.

I so admire Celine Dion, her documentary was a hard watch, but goodness me that woman has grace!

F1 in Vancouver??
That was such a great documentary! She has always had that air of grace - but so down to earth.

I believe it was the F1 was in Vancouver one year. Maybe it was a different class of drivers / cars who knows lol! I'm going to say it was about 18-20 years ago now! But they were the F1 type cars - that I know for sure.
Little does he know he will pickup the food order at the Choo Choo down the street this evening.
I hope it was delicious!!! I think chicken chow mein in my favorite!
I tried ordering a Walmart gift card but couldn’t. I finally gave up and just paid with a credit card. I will use the virtual card for something else.
Isn't that the MOST frustrating thing!!!!!! It is things like that, that will make jump off of deep end quickly! I have ZERO patience when it comes to situations like that!

Enjoy all that wonderful weather!

Well, I should get going - and actually do a little bit of work!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy Monday. It has been an interesting day. We have a mouse in our office. I haven’t seen it, but both therapists and a client have. I offered to bring my cat to work tomorrow. Boss set down some traps and called an exterminator.

I discovered today that my November flight has been changed. I am now leaving 2 hours earlier than before. We will be getting into Orlando at 1:00. I don’t mind the time change, but this new flight only has a 45 minute window between planes. We are going to have to make a mad dash across the Charlotte airport. I was really hoping to avoid that. I looked to see if there were any other flights available (that wouldn’t cost a lot more) and the only other one has a 3 hour layover. I don’t want to spend 3 hours in the airport, so I guess I should start getting into better shape. Thankfully we have seats close to the front of the plane.

I love spicy chow mein, one of my favourite dishes from a Chinese restaurant!

Yes, I think it must have been a different formula, F1 didn`t ever race there, but I`ll bet you it was a lot of fun to watch regardless. We used to visit Germany and watch F2&3 in the early 90`s, so much fun.

I completely agree, grocery store chicken tastes of nothing, fresh farm produce cannot be beaten. Our butchers get their chickens from farms all within a 20 mile radius, and no battery farms either. You can taste the difference for sure.

I`m visualising Home Alone 2 in Chicago airport where they all run for the plane. Yes, that`s not fun.

And hope the mouse goes elsewhere!!

Best laid plans......but glad plans changed. Managed to get a cancellation for a spa day with my friend Felicity as a treat for her for putting us up when we got our roof done, but they said they had a special for an overnight stay, so, told her to pack an overnight bag and we headed off for the evening! It was lovely, got there in time for lunch yesterday and an afternoon of fuss for her.

She is more into spa treatments than I am, but it was very nice and a nice way to say thank you to her for being a lovely friend.

Not long back, stopped in at a fishmonger and brought back a whole Scottish salmon that had been side filleted and boned, cut it into thick chunks, one pack for tonight and 8 more in the freezer.

Sun seems to have gone, but it`s still lovely and warm out there.

Can`t believe July is almost over.

Have a lovely Tuesday :sunny:

It's taco Tuesday!

The warm weather seems to be hanging around now for a few days at least. Not overly hot - but nice and warm. I will take anything that doesn't have me tensing up because I'm constantly cold.

Dh came home last night - opened his new insurance policy for his truck - and nearly had a heart attack - as the rates had dramatically increased. So onto the phone he went. We were expecting an increase due to ds's accident in May. But OMG...this was outrageous :faint::eek:

We ended up with our youngest ds now having his own (any paying for) insurance policy on my old car that he is driving. Ds was still on our old policy. He has been driving my old car - and now will purchase that from us as well. It's part of the growing up phase - and it's time ::yes::

I got a walk in last night as well - which was nice. My microwave has been acting funky every now and then and today - it just fizzled out. :scared1: More like sparked it's self out. Scared the ever-living cr@p out of me. Tonight is going to find a new microwave and look at getting some new blinds for the house.

WellI should probably get to shuffling some papers and booking some appointments.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

It has been an interesting day. We have a mouse in our office
Ugh...my old job - we always had mice in our building. Just with the type of business - big overhead doors that stayed open - especially in the summer - so that freightliners could load that big beams and steel.

They didn't have pest control come in to do traps - and it bothered me. I would have traps set allllllllllll over my office. Every wall would have multiple traps. I think I had about 10 traps set. I hate those little things.
I love taco tuesday!
Me too. Maybe it will be a taco Tuesday as dh and I are out shopping tonight. Maybe Taco Bell or Mucho Burrito for a taco bowl of some sort.

Went for a quick walk over my morning break. The wind has picked up - hopefully it's not too windy by the time I get done work. I would love to sit outside for a bit tonight and do a little reading.

Hey all, appears we will have rain for over a week here. It’s much needed, in drought conditions all summer.

Had to drive into city today for dr appt in horrid storm. Well, I was riding shotgun. Lost count of the wrecks, cars skidding off the side of road after not slowing down in the low lying areas of the highway. First time ever, heading up a mountain, observed a waterfall effect on the road with a solid rush of water all the way up. This was in truck with wipers on high at 8 am.
IMG_2563.jpeg
who doesn`t love nice pajamas!
I just lounge in them and change into a nightie to sleep, otherwise wind up feeling as tho I’m strangling after flopping during the night
Curious foodie mind here is wondering how it turned out????
Shockingly good, go figure. Even the mr, who generally deigns to just eat a bit of plain rice, was all in on it.
didn`t realise it was going to be the full numbing of the mouth and forceps involved getting everything out!
I feel nauseous
What a beautiful day to be in the city park
Beware the squirrels, they can go nutz on you.

We discovered one made a nest under our large front porch. Odd, as usually up in the trees. He often will sit on the steps & play chicken with us as we try to leave the house.
It’s Friday and back to school begins today in our area.

Saw the yellow school busses picking up the kids in our neighborhood.
Wow, that is early even for the south. Know much of SC always started the 1st week of August and finished up the year the end of April. Was told it was to harvest the 1st crop of the season?
Woke up today with a migraine.
Ugh, feeling better now? Do u take an RX?
he doesn`t get freaked out passing our dining room the way one of her other dogs does!! He does give a double take passing it though, so maybe Poppy is right.
There’s definitely something going on there, eek.
I have a $200 virtual Visa gift card
I’ve had issues using them in the past at many places. Still “fighting” for the rebate for my new stove purchased in January from Lowe’s. They use a clearing house that keeps ignoring my requests. I will wear them down, eventually.
did get a very early birthday present from Tom and Kyle, a new Garmin watch as mine died a few weeks ago
Nice! I do like my Apple Watch, rarely wear the good ones. Keep forgetting to pull them out of safe.

Never tried it, was afraid it would topple over on me

Worst case, that day, be proactive if the flight is delayed from your local airport and request to have your connection changed to the later option you referenced before boarding.

Oh no. Knock on wood, never had that issue. We use local company Erie & bundle our various policies. Have been with them all my adult life, they have a program where you get “at fault” accident forgiveness with no surcharges, based upon how long you’ve been a customer. Believe we have two or three banked :)

Sounds like it was time to have your DS step up and take on the responsibility, main thing he wasn’t hurt in accident.

Time for a new microwave for sure! New blinds are always nice too.

Sounds like young persons insurance is as bad over there as here, I get why they do it, but my goodness, it`s a lot of money.

Not a fun drive at all!! Glad you made it safe and sound.

Yes, you described it better than I did. I`ll "lounge" of an evening in jammies, but short leg pajamas and no sleeves in bed, yes you can get that feeling of being caught up in them. Most of my friends are the same, although a lot of them it`s generally an age thing where they get too hot lol......

The dining room doesn`t feel spooky to me, it is warm and cosy and very light at the same time, but I`m a full believer in children and animals having senses we don`t always understand. Although Tom freaked me out tonight....if you`ve ever seen the Sixth Sense, the scene with the kitchen cabinet doors all lying open when the ghost opened them.....I walked out of the kitchen, wandered to the front of the house, fluffed up some cushions, glanced out of the window and then walked back into the kitchen and one of the cabinet doors was laying wide open:scared1: I stood looking at it, Tom wasn`t around but then he wandered in from the garden, I pointed at the door....he laughed and said it was him, he noticed there was honey off the bottle on the shelf, so he cleaned it and left the door open so it would dry quicker......phew!!!!

Yes, that`s the down side of those watches, the nicer ones end up not being worn.

Heading to bed, we stayed up late in the spa hotel last night and Felicity found an episode of I love Lucy on, she learns ballet....well, maybe not learns it, funny episode.

But missed my walk this morning, so we`ll be up and out in the morning, going to be hot one like the other day, so out early is the secret, struggling to keep my eyes open right now.

Hope your Tuesday has been a good one :)

It ABSOLUTELY was!!!
Well, I was riding shotgun. Lost count of the wrecks, cars skidding off the side of road after not slowing down in the low lying areas of the highway.
Yikes, I hate those kind of trips! I'm glad your back home safe and sound.

Sounds like it was a great way to spend your day yesterday!

Back to doing meeting minutes :surfweb: The only task I dread.

Slow cooked expresso and dry rubbed brisket with smoked mixed chili beans tonight.
New generator due for delivery before whatever tropical mess is brewing right now.
Hope everyone is well.
One of my docs was in UO over the weekend and said crowds were light, mostly single rider walkons. Minions was 20 minutes, about all anyone without toddlers should wait anyways.

sitting back - in the backyard with a book and puzzle most of the day.
Pumpkin, that is what I love to do. I usually have 2 books going at once! and puzzles are kept on the tables all winter:)
We have a mouse in our office.
Oh, I hate rodents with a passion. I hope they catch it soon! Ick.

Charade, I hope this gets figured out for you. I had a flight this Spring that I only had a 45 minute layover in Minneapolis, But I know that airport, and I would of had to walk all the way from one end to the other, which is a long, long, way. I ended up cancelling that trip because I couldn't get a good connector flight. I hope things are working out for you.
She is more into spa treatments than I am, but it was very nice and a nice way to say thank you to her for being a lovely friend.
She is very lucky to have you for a friend! Wow, what a nice treat.:)
Not long back, stopped in at a fishmonger and brought back a whole Scottish salmon that had been side filleted and boned, cut it into thick chunks, one pack for tonight and 8 more in the freezer.
That fresh salmon sounds delicious. We don't get fresh salmon around here which is a shame.

We had our home owners increased recently - it was a big increase! So far, knock on wood, our auto insurance hasn't gotten increased. I'm thinking about checking out other insurance companies, even though ours has treated us good in the past.
Hey all, appears we will have rain for over a week here. It’s much needed, in drought conditions all summer.
We are with you on the rain situation. Things are so dry here and our grass is all brown. It's been really hot for us near 90 with high humidity.

OMGosh, Keishashadow, that sounds like a scary trip. I hope the doctors appointment went okay?

LOL, I bet that gave you quite a scare. The Sixth Sense is the only horror film that really got to me. I didn't figure out that he was dead til the end! I can't watch it anymore - spooks me out too much!
dry rubbed brisket with smoked mixed chili beans tonight.
That sounds wonderful! I love dry rubbed brisket!

Mac: I can't believe you saw school buses already??? When did the schools start the season so early?? Ours start in September.

Oh, Carole, congratulations on your new watch for an early birthday present:)

I've had one of those days where nothing is planned but I ended up going to town and making several small stops at the stores for one or two things we needed. It felt like a lot of running around for not much of anything.

My bread machine died, so I'm trying to find another one. I love making bread in the machine:) I could just save the money and go to the bakery in town. They have a wide selection of fresh baked breads every day. Only thing is, I can't get out of there without their donuts, cakes, cookies:)

My husband and daughters Wood Carving event went very well. this past weekend. We all had fun visiting with all the people who stopped by and they sold quite a bit. It's a fun event which draws a lot of people each year for the one day event. It was Hot though and looked like rain in the afternoon, so the crowds slowed down in the afternoon. Now hubby is busy making more things for the next fair, which is before Christmas. BTW, I went to Hobby Lobby today and they Had Christmas trees UP and had several isles filled with Christmas Decorations!!!! You could have knocked me over with a feather! THAT is way too early for Christmas decs - it's still July for crying out loud!

Well, on that note, I am leaving to water the flower gardens (takes about 45 minutes). We have way too many but we love planting them and looking at them all summer. About this time of year it gets tiring watering every night though.

Have a good rest of the week.

ruth
