Something About Nothing............ #14

Thirsty Thursday - and last day of work for me this week - taking an extra long weekend. I'm pretty much all packed up to head north to visit brother-in-law. The land of no sunsets right now - and bugs galore. They have what they call " bulldogs" they are like a fly that bite you. They are big enough that if you are wearing jeans - they can still bite through those  I hate those things!!!! But it looks like it will be an amazing weekend weather wise there.

I woke up to more rain again this morning. The rain gods have definitely answered the rain prayers here. They still need lots of rain north of us....I wouldn't be upset to see it move out of our area ;) We have haven't had much warm weather yet. I'm craving some hot warm days!!!!!

Had to run to Costco last night for bil to pick up some things for them. IT's much cheaper to buy meat here than where they live. So we have a few things to deliver to them. We ate there last night instead of cooking. Both ds's were working late out of town, so it didn't pay for me to cook something for just the two of us. Costco Poutine for the win!!!! 8.00 for both of us to eat!

What did wdw leave us out of? Out of curiosity! The last time we were there FP was discontinued but new Genie system wasn’t up yet so everything was standby.
Have you tried the K-18 treatment mask to strengthen your hair?
Disney is making changes to the Genie+ and ILL again. People can now book them in advance. But they are stating that Canadians need to be on US soil before we can make our selections :rolleyes2 Understandably - some people are quite upset at that! Hopefully they change their minds and allow us to book them in advance as well.

I LOVE K18!!! It is amazing stuff. I use it often.
Despite the heat last night, we both slept really well again, it`s still warm this morning but kinda breezy and a little cloudy. Going to walk this morning all the same.
Must have been something in the air - I didn't sleep well either.

I hope your appt with the dentist goes well - as well as an appointment there can go :worried:

Well, I should get going and prep for our booking/consult meeting. So I know which patients to book where for all the things they need.

Have a great day everyone!

Woah! I heard they changed to the previous system with 3 pre picked FP but I didn’t realize it excluded the rest of the world not on US soil!!!! Wow.

Sounds like horseflies! They hurt! We have a friend who lives in the interior of BC, on a lake. Can’t go in summer. The mosquitos are savage. My husband says in the trees beyond the clearing it sounds like lawnmowers out there. It’s a hard pass for me.

Hey all!

Was supposed to pack today, not a thing tossed in the suitcases. The day flew past, two CAT scans and blood work scheduled by pulmonologist due to still lingering side effects after the one, two, three punches of covid/rsv/bronchospasms in Dec-January.

Last few days my vision got a bit blurry in right eye, thot it might be new glasses not cut properly. Nope, wound up with what I discovered is a stye inside my one eyelid. Not sure how I’ve managed to escape them in the past. Everyone I’ve mentioned it today has their own horror story lol

Popped up in less than a hour yesterday. Eye area swollen, looks like it was hit with a ball. My first one, holy heck, cannot believe how a little thing like that can cause grief.

I truly look like a slobbering troll. DH took one look at me this AM and said, please call the dr. They got me in within an hour :), prescribed antibiotic drops. At least they somewhat take sting out of it.

Now, just chillin’ waiting for hockey game then an early night. Need to get crackin on things tomorrow.

I remembered after I posted that you’ve actually been there, duh

I “own” the remote in my BR. Otherwise, I let the mr flip to his heart’s content.

Yes, can’t say I’m enjoying it as much.

It is indeed sad to contemplate that situation. However, rather uplifting to know that she wasn’t alone in the end.

Absolutely. Not sure when their permanent “haunted house” monster attraction ceased operation. Seriously, one of my favorite things there. A two story building with the best actors who stayed in character. Not of a consistent scare actor jump scare thing, more of a series of vignettes

Just missing it, darn it. Ah well, next time. Wonder if they will have any soft openings 4th of July week. Was going to do Aquatica one am that week, already have a free military SW tix for the kiddo. Might stop there instead.

I’ve been quite surprised as to how many different block out dates they’ve opened up for the military fun pass this year.

Love it. Only confection i’ll eat @ DQ. I’m smarting, most of my favorite flavors have been taken off menu hmmph. What’s Mom’s favorite?

Nope, he mine, all mine; hands off sista.
:p
Yes, Broadchurch. Two seasons of it. Loved it. The subject matter was creepy, do think they handled it as tastefully as possible though. Olivia Coleman was quite good in it, as was that “Jodie” actress whose last name i forget. Meanwhile, couldn’t bear her as The Doctor. Guess that shows she’s a good actress

Don’t think anyone would’ve predicted tonight’s game coming to fruition. Enjoy!

Cold, like revenge…it’s best served cold.

Actually, the first piece of leftover for me is cold, while the 2nd one crisps up nicely in the air fryer. How well, hard to tell it’s leftover

Oh geez. That stinks. Conversely, do hate that feeling when they start to yank @ stitches and they don’t want to give. Not that anything ever has happened badly from that process, just don’t like that sensation.
Hi Keisha:

Forgot to reply, so here I am................Mom's favorite blizzard is the butterfinger one. I love the vanilla with strawberries and chocolate chunks! YUM.
I was fascinated by watching David Tennant in Broadchurch. I saw him once in the HP movie...of course, I can't remember the name..........grrr! He is very talented. His character in Broadchurch was kind of quirky, which I love in characters. I will be watching for more of his movies.

I seem to have more free time today :rolleyes1 more trip planning / researching ::yes::

Dh was wanting to leave a little earlier today - asked manager if I could work through my lunch...then combine lunch and breaks to be able to leave early. She is ok with that! So happy to work in a unit/department that can accommodate that if needed. My motto is " if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" So far - there is a good " team" vibe. But I think that comes from the top - management and our RO who is amazing!

Yup...they are at least twice the size of horseflies. They are NASTY!!!! And they hurt when they bite! They will bite your butt through jeans and your camp chair!!!! We are headed to the NWT - just on the south side of Great Slave Lake. Their mosquitos are huge too! I love visiting there - I just don't like the bugs. They can be pretty thick some years.

:cheer2: YAHOO on snagging the coveted tickets!

Love the pictures!!! I can't wait to hit MK! I want to see dh's reaction when he sees the castle and the fireworks show for the first time! When dd and I were in MK for the first time, we were caught in 7 Dwarfs Mine Train and I was so anxious that about missing the fireworks show. She was like " Mom, it's just fireworks" I just smiled and shrugged my shoulders - and said I wanted to see it. We got to a spot in front of the castle minutes before they started. After the show - we both had tears running down our cheeks and she was soooooo happy that we had seen it!

Well, off to find something else to do!

Love the pictures!!!! And congrats on the oogie thing....not quite sure what it is, but glad you`re happy!!!!

Super pictures and it looks gorgeous, glad you got some sun loungers. The Brits are notorious in places like Spain to be waiting from 4am to get a lounger by the pool or bar in the hotel....crazy!!! Some places now ban that mad rush in the morning.

Glad you`re getting to chill out and park time too, you all look fabulous!! Keep us updated!

It is blowing a hoolie here.....far too windy for the gas, it`d blow right out! So, got the griddle pan out and cooked it that way, still lovely.

Dentist appt went well, just a chat to plan a timeline and scan on Tuesday in place of impressions!!!! I could have hugged him when he said it was a scan! One woman in the waiting room before I went in asked me if I was alright lol.....she thought I was going to pass out, when I was in with my dentist she said to Tom I looked utterly terrified and so pale

Thirsty Thursday indeed. Got our wine delivery today, but don`t feel like trying some of the new bottles tonight, will wait till the weekend I think, so maybe a ginger beer tonight and maybe a Potter movie.

@disneyseniors DT played Barty Crouch Jr in Potter. His father in the film was one of our best comedy actors in the UK, Roger Lloyd Pack, funny guy.

:cheer2:Yes, cheers are in order! I am so glad you got the scan instead of those dreaded impressions! Yea for technology. Things should be less stressful now:)

Barty Crouch, Jr. Yes, that is who I couldn't think of for some reason? Thanks for that, and for the heads up about Roger Lloyd Pack.

Cake for the pride kids last weekend. Key lime mascarpone and cream cheese icing and key lime cake. Someone suggested using the gayest fruit I could find reference to Key West's thriving Gay community. Some of the newer kids were shook up a married old white guy would do this for them. 20240622_173541.jpg20240622_181555.jpg20240622_181602.jpg

I hope the rain didn't last too long, and you're able to get out and enjoy the parks.
It did not last long. It is nice when the weather moves through and the sun returns.

I bought our park tickets today to Universal for this November's visit. I waited for a good buy and one finally showed up. I got 3 park to park days with 2 days for free, Yes! We will be there 5 days so that worked out great for us. I haven't booked the flights yet, but I have been checking them out. There seems to be a lot of availability for that time of year and the prices aren't bad either. I have a flight credit with Delta so I can use that.
Nice to hear you were able to get such a good deal on your park tickets.

Thank you all for your good wishes, our friend passed quietly i n the early morning hours. She was more than ready. It’s a quite small (Anglican) church so it’s easy to organize such things. It’s nice she wasn’t alone. Tragic she had no family, never had children.
It was so nice of all of you to be there for her as she parted this world.

that’s a great pic from your room. I love house 3. Best views. Hope weather clears up. There’s nothing like a Florida rain storm, and lightenning! We just don’t get those here.
Thanks Sue. I was in tower 2. Those photos over the Lagoon are so nice.

Tomorrow is a "me" day:) Every once in a while I like to go to town and do what I want to do. You know, the stores or shops your hubby might not want to do. It's fun to have a little retail therapy once in a while, and I plan on doing just that:)
Enjoy your me day. Having a little retail therapy is good for the soul.

Grabbed 2 nights for Oogie boogie bash woohoo
Congratulations on getting your tickets to Oogie Boogie bash.

Nice pictures of the family and your Resort. Have a wonderful time. Cute photo of you and your granddaughter in the Haunted Mansion ride.

Carole good to hear you have gotten a little reprieve on your weather there and have enjoyed some nice warm days.

Nice cake AJ

I’am back to the real world after my short vacation. It was smoking hot when I stepped off the plane Tuesday afternoon here. It was hotter than Florida.

I Had a great time. I took lots of photos so trip report is in progress to share the pictures.

Watched little J today and gave him his Tim fan. He loves it.

Have a wonderful evening everyone,

I love the vanilla with strawberries and chocolate chunks! YUM.
Was my current favorite, until it was removed locally early spring boohoo. Never tried butterfinger

I’m 99% certain I have another kidney stone.
Again? That’s awful, seems it’s being going on for ages for you. Hope you get some relief

Robbie welcome home, hope you had a relaxing trip this go-round. That is a very cute toy

I am home. I was finally released at 11:15. It was indeed a kidney stone. I think it may have passed while in the hospital. I was in agony when I got there, but felt much better after receiving the pain medication. A few hours later the pain started to increase again. I was on the verge of asking for more pain meds when suddenly the pain was gone. So far it has not returned.

Prayers and hopes for a comfortable night and swift resolution.
Thank you. The prayers were much appreciated.

Again? That’s awful, seems it’s being going on for ages for you. Hope you get some relief
Thank you. I think this is my third. The first was in 2016 and the second was 2019.

I was starving when I left the hospital so dh and I went to Waffle House. When I got home all I wanted to do was brush my teeth and get a shower. I think I am still too wound up to go right to sleep.

Thanks Ruth, I`m now not nervous about the appointment on Tuesday as I would have been, it`s the latter ones now I worry about if the gum is deemed suitable of course.....lol......

Roger Lloyd Pack was in 2 of the greatest ever UK comedies, Only Fools and Horses and The Vicar of Dibley, very funny man, his dad was an actor too as is his daughter, but he was a genius, timing was everything with him, he could deliver a dead pan line and you`d be laughing forever at him. Sadly missed.

Good Thursday evening everyone :wave2:

Have a wonderful evening everyone,

Thanks Robbie, we cherish every second of good weather as it could disappear quicker than it arrived lol.....

Lovely toy and glad you had a nice trip and some time with the little guy too. And enjoy that weather too!!!!

Greetings from a place I would rather not be - the local hospital ER. I have been here for over 5 hours still waiting for the results of my scan and bloodwork. I’m 99% certain I have another kidney stone.

Ouch!!

Oh lordy yes, those people could outrun those bulls easily trying to get the best sun loungers around the pool!!

Enjoy that cruise today 🛳️

Goodness me Charade, you have been through the mill with this. I do remember you having this issue before, it is indeed one of the most excruciating of pains to suffer, once is once too many, but on your third round is awful.

Hope you got some sleep and take some time to recover, it does drain you when you have pain like that, and glad you got some food too. Take it easy today.

We still have a high wind, I suppose on the positive side, it`s keeping the heat down so we managed another undisturbed sleep, apart from some rutting foxes around 3am, well, we think it`s foxes. Noisy little things, but doesn`t last long and we got back to sleep straight away.

No walking this morning, but a morning of shopping in several different places, and we need a couple of things from our DIY place, little like Home Depot over there, never fun there!!

Haven`t decided what we`ll be eating today, hoping to get some fresh crab this morning for lunch, but dinner, no idea yet, with the high wind, if it`s still around we won`t be cooking out, but it`s not just as warm as it has been, so not a problem.

Going out to dinner again with Kyle on Saturday night, then I think he`s over again on Sunday for the Grand Prix, hope he stays for dinner too. He is a very good cook so I have no worries on him there, but can`t wait to see him tomorrow.

Almost time to go wake sleeping beauty, he went back to sleep when I got up, but by the time we both get our showers, it`ll be time for him to do my poached egg, I make the tea though.

It`s the weekend!!!
