Something About Nothing............ #14

A quick Tuesday morning stop in :surfweb:

It seems to be an good paced day today. I'm able to pick things off my to-do list today. Maybe even get to watch a few youtube videos to make the best use of our time for our Orlando trip!

It looks like Space X will be doing a rocket launch while we are there. No tickets are on sale yet at KSC to watch the launch - but I am worried that if the launch is scrubbed - we would essentially loose our money. So I'm thinking we might be better off watching from another beach close by. And have that day be our gator / airboat tour day with maybe HHN that night. Then visit KSC on a different day when it might not be so busy and get to spend the whole day there - as there is so much to see there.

I got to go for a walk today on my morning break. It won't be a hot day - but it will be better than the rainy cold weather we can't seem to shake away. Hopefully I can get another quick walk in over my lunch break. It always feels good to get outside into the sunshine!

Yes - we lost last night  But what a ride this season has been!!!! They went from being the worst team in November to playing a game 7 in the cup finals!!!!! They played hard last night - but the Panthers played just that little extra bit better. The panthers played an awesome defensive game last night - vs us having to play a more offensive game. It was a hard fought game - and it definitely wasn't handed over to the panthers. Next year!!!! That will be their year!

YUM! I love left over pizza!!!

I wouldn't cook either if it was that warm - other than tossing some burgers on the grill.

I'm sorry to hear that. It is nice she wasn't alone. From working in homecare - it is sad to see how many people are truly alone and have no one to help them.

Wow...yikes. Those who say covid/rsv are made up have never had to experience how badly it can affect the lungs. I hope you start to feel better - especially the eye! That must be so uncomfortable.

I'm sure you are an expert packer and get your things together in a matter of a couple hours. Have a great time on your next adventure!

101 days!!!! We are going Oct 4 - 13. We are bringing the boys - they are paying part of the bill :rolleyes1 But we will foot the bulk of it. They have wanted to visit since dh and I went in 2022. So Momma is planning and trying to make it the best trip and get the most of our limited time there. They have a big list of things they want to do....but what they want to do is all doable in our timeframe.

I told dh we needed an extra day or two to fit in all the things. Now they need to decide if they want to do Epcot - and ride the few new rides plus eat and drink their way around the world - or if I can plan something different for that day - maybe even a lazy day by the pool!

He's in my neck of the woods. I hope he has enjoyed Edmonton. Some parts of the city are AMAZING!!!!

And yes - boys will always love their Momma's cooking. I know mine appreciate and like most of the meals I make.

YUM!!!!!!!! Fresh strawberries. That dessert sounds delicious!

Well, it's almost lunch now. I've been slowly picking away at tasks. I am not sure what I am going to do to keep busy this afternoon. I'm sure I'll find something though.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!

There are loads of places to watch the launch without purchasing tickets, but it does get mobbed everywhere. Our friend Samuel is local and he and friends have turned their cars around several times as there hasn`t been a space to park even on the roadside at beaches and park areas.

But, it is possible, you can also see them from Orlando, not as clear but we have seen a couple of launches from Orlando, one we stood behind Mythos and looked in the right direction, you can`t really miss it, but you do miss the noise of the take off which is incredible. Good luck with that, hope you do get to see one.

Yup, my son loves my cooking and I was thrilled to hear he tells all his friends about the gorgeous dishes I make.....warms your heart....lol.....and yes, those strawberries were the nicest I have eaten outside of being in Scotland myself!! We may have eaten them all :rolleyes1

100 days now Pumpkin!!!!! Fantastic countdown!!!

Pork chops for dinner tonight.
Making a full meal since tired of take out food.

Stop on by to my place and join me for dinner!

Darn it, I think we would have been in bed!!! We love a good old pork chop, I always coat mine in seasoning of some kind though, love a maple, garlic mustard, BBQ, spicy or Chinese seasoning, we never eat pork steaks plain. Now a joint of pork we always have a gravy of some kind.

Weirdly growing up we very rarely had pork a mum was not a fan, so our Sunday roast was always beef, chicken or lamb....not a complaint there!!!

Hope it was lovely.

How`s that heat doing????? :sunny:

Better living thru chemistry, much better, thanks. Bringing multiple pairs of sunglasses tho. Dr said not ‘catchy’ but, last thing i need is being denied ship boarding due to medical

Thanks, I’m a procrastinating packer. Want to bring the whole house with me. It’s joke I pack, then need to cull the herd, at least once.

Great time to go! Your sons will love it. Are you planning on sneaking in HHN too? I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve done a full pull day in Orlando…the siren call of the parks just too distracting for me.

I vote for Epcot & the Guardians of the Galaxy ride! Make sure to get down the whole VQ process or buy a LL. Although, the genie plus system has changed effective mid July. New hoops to learn, oh joy :rolleyes1

I’ll be sure to bore the heck out of yinz guys with pics. Tomorrow @ Old Key West. Don’t laugh, Thursday I need to try to get into the lottery to buy Oogie Boogie halloween party tix for DL shortly before noon. It’s like the hunger games, a small/finite # of tix that sell out within hours, if you get selected to purchase & wait online for hours to do so. Has to be a better system??? Just what I want to be doing while on vacation. Thinking to rope drop or parks late with pool time for family while I’m on the phone.

We are a mix of packers here, Tom and I definitely overpack and then we do try to remove some stuff.....doesn`t always happen and I still take too many dresses!!! But when Kyle came with us, he was a moderate packer and I was always saying I think he needed more stuff, so always put some stuff in without him knowing....he knew though!!

OKW was one of the places Tom wanted to go when we did stay at Disney a million years ago, it was between there and POFQ, FQ won and we did enjoy it there. Yes, the real Key West has never been a place we`ve ever been interested in visiting, I think we`d last five minutes and be bored.

Oh you won`t bore us with pics....look forward to them, your whole trip sounds amazing as always!!! And good luck with the boogie tickets, and yes some changes at Disney again, I didn`t read it, just the headlines. And yes, you`re going to get it hot!!!

Have a wonderful trip keisha, I know you will though :wave2:

Don’t know where the day went. Nothing really interesting going on this week. I can’t remember if I mentioned that B has an appointment with a podiatrist tomorrow morning and asked me to go with her. She has always had weak ankles and since she has a job where she stands for hours she has been complaining about ankle pain. She was a little reluctant to see a doctor at first, then I reminded her that we are planning a 5 hour walking tour when we go to Disney in March.

I am refusing to use an oven while it is so hot.

I saw a college production of that a few years ago. It was so much better than the movie.

My sympathies. I have had a few, but not to the severity of yours. Glad it cleared up quickly.

I think I have given up on it as well. I haven’t been really happy with the show since Matt Smith left

She didn’t have any problems with it. I had heard that there were a lot of problems with FAFSA this year. Maybe they finally got their act together. We are now waiting for the school to post her dependent aid so she can complete registration.

Sorry I will miss you. I think I will miss seeing everyone this year.

I am looking forward to that ride.

Has anyone here gone to Hoop De Doo at Disney? Is it worth seeing? We are thinking about doing a couple of non-park experiences. Dh has suggested that one.

Good luck with your daughter at the podiatrist, yes she needs that sorted out.

Yup, no oven cooking in this heat for us too.

Dr Who for us, is so different to what it was supposed to be, and the PC writing completely turned us off. Although even if it went back to the original style, it`s not for me anymore.

I think we miss most folks too this year.

We had the best sleep last night, with the heat it has been a little disturbed, but holy smokes we both slept till after 8 this morning, first for a long time and it felt great!

Poached egg on toast again for me, these eggs are amazing. Lots of tea I think for us.

Then, some little jobs this morning, not too much, our gardener is back from his vacation I`m sure he`ll get the lawns done as they do need it, need him to check the sprinklers as I think one isn`t sprinkling in one area. Looking forward to seeing their vacation pictures though.

Salon this afternoon, always a nice few hours, one of my friends hates getting foils in her hair, doesn`t bother me and this is just the top section/half a head today and some waxing too. And we have a good old chat too.

Steaks for dinner tonight, veg kebabs, coleslaw and salad, Tom will be cooking them outside as it`s still gorgeous here, certainly making the most of this weather before it goes!!

Cup of tea and then I`ll get some little bits done and drag Tom from his computer as he looks at wine to order, wine guy is calling him back in half an hour to put his order in..........priorities!!!!

Happy Wednesday 😊

@Charade67 while we haven’t been to Hoop De Doo we’ve heard it lol! When dining next door when we dinned at Trails End. Best Buffet on property. It’s too bad they changed it into a grab n go
Hoop Dee Do sounded fun! We loved taking the boat over and walking around, check out the store, go to the stable to see the big horses, and visit the ponies while we were there.

. @keishashadow when do you leave? How’s the packing going? :upsidedow Every time I try to pack less, but never seem to accomplish it lol. Then when I unpack I realize I haven’t worn a third of the stuff!
Looking forward for OKW pics. It will remind me of the trip we took to the real place. We were staying at my mom’s condo(in Florida). and got a Sheraton offer, for a suite in their resort in Key West! So spur of the moment I booked a weekend. Had the best time. Just the drive alone was amazing. I wish I would have booked 2 more days. Didn’t get to do everything I wanted to do.

@schumigirl have fun at hairdresser! Wow 6” off! Always feel nice and fresh after a visit to hairdresser! I need to make an appt too!

Well it’s hump day, just not the same without @Lynne G camel!

I don’t know what I feel like for dinner today, but it’s only 6:20 am. Have time to sort it out. Feeling better today. I did get a good sleep in even though I woke at 5:30am!

Anyone going to Uni the later half of Aug?

No podiatrist today. We had the date wrong. It’s actually the last Wednesday in July. I’m glad I noticed before we go to the doctor’s office.

Super slow day at work. I’m also sleepy. Not a good combination.

Charade, Hoop De Doo, has always been one of the places at Disney I have greatly enjoyed.
I like the food and entertainment.
Thanks for the review. I think we will try to go if we can get reservations. I know it is a popular event.

Yes, the real Key West has never been a place we`ve ever been interested in visiting, I think we`d last five minutes and be bored.
The real Key West is a very laid back place. When we went ( ages ago) it was only for a few days.
I can’t even remember what we did besides eat.

We loved taking the boat over and walking around, check out the store, go to the stable to see the big horses, and visit the ponies while we were there.
We should do that even if we can’t get the dinner reservations. We rarely venture outside the resort where we are staying.

Looking forward for OKW pics. It will remind me of the trip we took to the real place.
We went once when we first moved to Florida but haven’t been back. We had just recently moved from the Atlanta, Georgia area. One night we had dinner at the Benihana restaurant in Key West. At our table was a German couple who had just recently moved to Atlanta. Next we discovered that our Japanese chef had grown up in Marietta,GA (my hometown) and had attended my rival high school. It really is a small world sometimes.

Off to find something to do. I am avoiding going outside today we are supposed to reach a high of 98.

SpaceX is visible from my house if it's clear night launch and we're 2 hours away. Any of the local beaches, piers or outdoor seating should have good view.

Yep, I got 6" off two appointments ago and glad I did, it feels so much better and bouncier, Olaplex treatments too are the best! My new stylist is incredible, I feel as if I`ve had proper treatments and styles for the first time in years.

Just had another inch and a half off today so it`s back sitting on my shoulders, and after having long hair for most of my life, it feels good!

You got a sleep in too today?? Nice!! Nothing to beat it, those morning snuggles are the best.

I like laid back, just not for too long, I do think we`d be a bit bored there, although we know someone who runs a rum place down there, so that might pass some time!!! I doubt we`d ever go though, but we`d probably eat too! The Hemingway stuff might interest me, but not much else.

I think you`d enjoy venturing out of the resort, there are so many other things to see and do outisde, always nice to explore.

Yes, 98 is a little too hot to be outside doing anything.

Hope your day goes quickly and a good sleep tonight.

SpaceX is visible from my house if it's clear night launch and we're 2 hours away. Any of the local beaches, piers or outdoor seating should have good view.

Yup, there are loads of places to see a launch, parking can be an issue though, we were told most decent places fill up really, really early, even the side of roads are full. Not my idea of fun, I think I`d need to be in KSC to be guaranteed a view, we`ve never done that before, but the launches have been clear from Orlando when we have seen them.

Well, back to extra short hair today, nice Olaplex treatment, layers trimmed and fresh colour, it`s sparkling and all swishy, love it! Waxing too, nice to have a one stop shop.

Hot again, but that darn breeze is back, steaks are marinading in maple balsamic, honey, garlic and a little soy sauce, beautiful!! Courgetts, onion and mushroom kebabs, will make some more coleslaw and a green salad will work nicely, not forgetting that extra spicy cous cous, we will have no room for dessert after all that!

Dentist tomorrow, hoping to start the process of another implant. Not looking forward to it, but it needs doing.

Off for a cuppa, another couple of hours till dinner, Tom due in from his volunteering in about 40 minutes where I`ll have another with him too.

Mr Mac always sets our house temperature to the cool settings.
Can’t fight city hall so I am in the house for a few hours and then go sit in the screened in porch for a time period to warm up.

He and I have different opinions of comfort.

He can’t handle the heat like I can, he needs a cool inside house.

For night sleeping, I turn on my electric blanket.

Have been on thyroid medicine since I was 37.
It helps except when I get break throughs.
And then have times just have to wait it out and increase my med dose levels based on my blood levels.

Cat and mouse game at times.

It’s 97 outside now but 70 inside the house w/ac on.

It's 🐫 day today - for us working folk!

Only one more day for me - then we head out of town tomorrow night after work to go visit dh's brother for the weekend. The forecast is for +30 C / high 80's F . But not looking forward to all the bugs they have there :sad2: But we will make the most of our time there.

Quiet night last night. I had a hair appointment after work - so I didn't get home until about 6:30. Came home to a dinner ds's had whipped up - butter chicken, coconut rice and naan bread. I added a tossed salad for some veggie and it was delicious.

Tended to my flowers/pots and had the remote to myself last night.

Tonight is a little bit of laundry and packing to head out tomorrow after work.
I vote for Epcot & the Guardians of the Galaxy ride! Make sure to get down the whole VQ process or buy a LL. Although, the genie plus system has changed effective mid July. New hoops to learn, oh joy :rolleyes1
I do too!!!! I think we all would enjoy Epcot.

And yes - I heard about the changes. Sadly - Disney tends to leave us Canadians out of those - and we won't be able to book ahead UNLESS we are on US soil. Which is ok...as I am planning for us to start our Disney park days Monday - looking at the crowd calendars - so I should be ok to book on Friday once we land.
I think a good spot would be on Cocoa Beach. Maybe from the pier?
That was what I was thinking. Somewhere along Cocoa Beach. There are many places all along Cocoa Beach.
Salon this afternoon, always a nice few hours, one of my friends hates getting foils in her hair, doesn`t bother me and this is just the top section/half a head today and some waxing too. And we have a good old chat too.
I love salon days! I'm glad you had a great salon day. My gal doesn't do waxing - or I would get her to do my eyebrows when I get my hair trimmed. I think I'll book in Aug for my yearly color I get. My hair is needing a boost again.
No podiatrist today
I hope the podiatrist is able to help her.

Youngest ds has flat feet - so he has had extreme pain in his ankles with lots of limping once he gets home and rests for a bit. He's been going to a podiatrist here for nearly 2 years - and after 18 months of going to him - the orthotics that the podiatrist keeps adjusting are finally starting to work. He is NOT limping anymore after working all day on his feet. He still has some pain after a day of too much standing. If he puts in lots of steps - he has no more pain. Which is great! So the orthotics are working - as we were starting to look into an orthopedic surgeon to see what else we could do for his pain.

Well, it's almost lunch time. I've been picking at tasks all morning. Not sure what is for lunch today - there were no left overs. Probably skip the dishes as there is NO cafeteria (yet) in this new hospital :( How sad is that!

Have a great day everyone!

Have a great day

Great time to go! Your sons will love it. Are you planning on sneaking in HHN too? I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve done a full pull day in Orlando…the siren call of the parks just too distracting for me.
I forgot to add....yes HHN is one night for sure!!! I won't do any of the scare houses - but they definitely want to do that. We are trying to justify the price of express pass for that one night. With the exchange rate - it would be just over 300.00 canadian for our HHN plus express for the night. That will be for them to decide if they want to spend the $$$.

They are paying for their own park tickets. That was part of the deal for this trip. They are paying for flights, park tickets and any extra things ie souvenirs, light saber building and KSC activities. We are paying hotel, food and car rental and our own park tickets.

Well, back to extra short hair today
I’m still going back and forth about getting my hair cut shorter. I worry that it will look weird with the way it curls. I don’t have the patience to straighten it every day.

It’s 97 outside now but 70 inside the house w/ac on.
I can understand wanting it cool in the summer, but I would be freezing at 70. We usually keep it at 74/75 all year long.

the orthotics that the podiatrist keeps adjusting are finally starting to work.
I am hoping that orthotics will help her. I dread seeing how much they cost though.

40 minutes until time to go home.

Schumi, hope your implant work goes smooth tomorrow!

Dental work will be a snap for you!

Well, first consultation on this one tomorrow, so hoping he won`t do anything like the dreaded impression. I`m guessing I`ll have to go for another proper dental scan like I did with the last one before he`ll go ahead to make sure the bone can take it. At least that`s painless and no gagging!!!

Have a great day

I love coconut rice!!! Only way I`ll really eat rice in general.

Yes, I love this new salon and this stylist is very experienced in everything and where my old salon always just did the same old thing, this lady likes to give everyone something fresh every time. I`m loving this short look!!

I was laughing when I started going to her, I always plucked my eyebrows but told her it was getting difficult to do it while wearing glasses!!!! She is a lot more expensive than previous place, but she`s worth it.

Good luck with your son and his feet issue, not pleasant at all to deal with that.

No cafeteria??? heck......hope you found something nice!

I forgot to add....yes HHN is one night for sure!!! I won't do any of the scare houses - but they definitely want to do that. We are trying to justify the price of express pass for that one night. Can only recommend EP for HHN on any night!! Even so called quiet nights, lines can be horrendous.

Yes, I get the exchange rate sucking!!!

I would have suggested straightening, but if you don`t think you would, then maybe not. I do my hair every day, now it`s just blow dried and not straightened, but I use the large hotbrush to finish it off, and it does take about 20 minutes or so. Ask your stylist what she thinks, they generally do have a good idea of what would suit you or not. It is a big decision to make but one I`m glad I made in April.

Orthotics can be expensive for sure, but so worth it if they help.

Well, our steaks were amazing!! I don`t normally eat sirloin, much prefer filet, but with the marinade, it was just fabulous, they were so tender and juicy, Tom does a very good steak though. They were on the large side, not a complaint and very thick so we are full with the sides too.

Sitting outside enjoying this late evening sunshine, wind has died down so it`s really warm again which is lovely, but might be another warm night. Weirdly we`ve had a few spiders inside, normally that doesn`t happen till it gets cooler. Usually vacuum them up when we see them, I don`t like spiders.

Our lavender is blooming so we have a lot of bees buzzing around that which we like, they tend not to bother anyone, wasps are different, we kill them, but never a bee.

Feet up time......:)

It is a (S- word) not to jinx our week. I have no more tasks today - unless something hits my booking ques. So it will be a trip planning / researching day today. Not that I am complaining - I was used to that at my old job - but not expecting it at this desk, but I will take it!!!! Lots of time to read and catch up on here ;)

I’m still going back and forth about getting my hair cut shorter. I worry that it will look weird with the way it curls. I don’t have the patience to straighten it every day.
I still have my hair just past my shoulders. It is naturally curly - and more of a looser beachy type curl. I wear it curly most days using just a root boost and a curl cream. I sleep with it tied up so that I can just mist it to revive it the next morning. My hair would break off if I washed it everyday. I am considering getting a silk bonnet for my hair when I sleep.

I do straighten it...once in a while. Then will put some loose quick flat iron curls in it the next day. I don't like to do it often, as it is damaging.

I shower everyday - but only wash my hair every third day. If I wash it more than that - I get too much breakage from it getting too dry. And I also use professional products - which helps too. My hair is quite fine...so damages easily - and gets too oily if I use too many moisturizing products in it. It took me a long time to find the products that work best on my hair.
Well, first consultation on this one tomorrow, so hoping he won`t do anything like the dreaded impression. I`m guessing I`ll have to go for another proper dental scan like I did with the last one before he`ll go ahead to make sure the bone can take it. At least that`s painless and no gagging!!!
I hope it goes quickly for you! That sounds absolutely horrendous. I abhor the dentist. I have severe PSTD from childhood that still lingers today. Very few things cause me anxiety - but the thought of the dentist takes me from 0 - 100000000 in 2 seconds.

I agree about express pass for HHN. I think it would be the way to go. We won't have express pass for our days at Universal - but I think with what we want to accomplish, we can do it without EP. Unless the exchange rate changes dramatically in the next few months - it is out of our budget - even if we tried to stay at RP for a night or two. It is just out of our budget. Right now we pay around 1.40 Canadian for 1.00 American. That adds up to the budget quickly.

My stylist suggested a silk pillow case, I never thought about it before, so I got one and I really do think it helps keep hair better.

My hair is fine but I have a lot of it, I admit I did/do always use heat protect spray when I straightened my hair every day and regular conditioning treatments and luckily my hair has always been healthy and strong. Except for covid when it was falling out due to not being able to fly to America lol......it came back as soon as borders opened! But my sister has hair that if she uses product or straighteners too often, her hair goes brittle and snaps, not a good look.

I would get the silk bonnet, I do like the silk pillowcase now and I am trying to not wash my hair every day now it`s shorter and bouncier, I`m trying for every two days, but in Orlando, it`ll be back to maybe twice a day if it needs it.

I feel your pain, we are £1.24 to the US dollar right now, in 2007 we got £2 to the dollar, happy days back then.

lol....I know it`s not funny, but my childhood dentist was known as the butcher, I had to go to him after I was banned from the school dentist for being too afraid, she smacked my legs as I was so scared. It was 1973 so they got away with that then it was my second year at school aged 6. You betcha it all stayed with me, I would rather have my toenails pulled off without anaesthesia than go to the dentist. My last dentist retired so I have this new one, wasn`t sure at first but I do like him and he knows how bad I am with anything dental. Yes, I don`t get anxiety with anything other than dental work. So, yes, I completely understand your fear, it`s horrible.

Almost bed time here, still warm but there is a little breeze so hopefully with the windows open, we`ll sleep well again.

When in November will you be there? We are there from the 12th-16th.
Sorry this took so long to answer. When I'm not on the SANs every day I lose track of things. It seems like we will Just miss you...... We will be there from the 2nd to the 7th of November! I wanted to move the dates to more mid November, but my son had other plans for those dates. We'll keep the nice weather for you:)
As he said as long as he doesn`t hear the words....who is that standing beside me again, he`s happy!!! Freaked him out big time!
OMGosh, I laughed at this one! It must be hilarious for Tom when you say these things in your sleep. I don't think I have ever talked in my sleep, but my Mom used to talk all the time. I remember some pretty funny things she said from when I was a kid:)
Said no thank you, just make me food to eat while you are gone lol. Still, need to think of something to get him, will strike me sooner or later.
He must love your food:). I find that my grown kids and grandkids are always asking for their favorite foods that I make.
Feeling much better with a couple doses of the drops. Swelling and redness nowhere as pronounced. Woohoo
So glad you are feeling better. Those sties (stys) are no fun. Have a great time on your trip and thanks again for all the help with HHN. My son hasn't decided yet if he's going, but I think he's leaning that way.
Pulmonologist that my family uses so busy, it took me almost four months to get in and that was via watching cancellation list online. Otherwise, it was mid august for 1st appt. Exactly what you said, so many either developed new problems or exacerbated existing ones during covid.
Wow, that's just crazy to have to wait that long, IMO. Hope you get in sooner
I wish I slept last night Schumi! Ugh, I think I only managed 3-4 hrs.
Sue, we must have had the same no sleep gremlins that night. I only got about 2 to 3 hours sleep and was a zombie the next day. I did make up for it, and hope you did get to catch up on your lost sleep too. I don't know why that happens, but it seems to be happening to me more and more lately - feeling routine now.
Well, someone stole our sunshine!! It is still warm, but just grey and looks like rain, but none forecast
Yep, us too. Took Mom to the store today in dreary, drizzly weather. They promise us sun tomorrow, but we will see.
Since I got the 6" cut off a couple of months ago, it has got so much longer,
I find that mine is growing quicker too, or maybe I just notice it more since it's so short. It doesn't even reach my shoulders - up about 2 inches, but I LOVE it.
Highlight of the day, local strawberries from one of our farm stores!! Strangely they`re not local, but Scottish strawberries
Love the local strawberries, but never had the pleasure of Scottish strawberries, LOL.
Off to call the dentist.....bleurgh!!
Oh Carole, you've put it off long enough, lol. Remember to ask for a little help with relaxing!
101 days!!!! We are going Oct 4 - 13
101 days sound great to me. We have to wait about 3 more weeks than you do for our trip. I actually like the planning and making all the arrangements. Gets me in the spirit of Vacation!
Pork chops for dinner tonight.
Mac, just curious? Do you fry them plain, put them in the oven? I have several recipes for pork chops and rarely fry them anymore. I'm always on the look out for good recipes.
Tomorrow @ Old Key West. Don’t laugh, Thursday I need to try to get into the lottery to buy Oogie Boogie halloween party tix for DL shortly before noon. It’s like the hunger games, a small/finite # of tix that sell out within hours, if you get selected to purchase & wait online fo
Janet, I hope you beat the "hunger games" and get those tickets. I know you will have a great time:)
But don’t go to wdw much anymore. It’s gotten too complicated.
Sue, we feel the same way. Our last visit was the week before covid in 2020. We haven't been back since then and now are Universal converts:) We really enjoy Universal, but still have a lot of nostalgia for WDW, just don't like the way they do things now.
I always coat mine in seasoning of some kind though, love a maple, garlic mustard, BBQ, spicy or Chinese seasoning,
Carol, another delicious sounding marinate. I will try this one too. I tried another one you gave me for crock pot pork roast and it was a winner:)
I think we miss most folks too this year.
It sounds like you do miss most of us this year. We really enjoyed seeing you and Tom last year. I would love to go to Epic Universe when it opens, but so far have no plans set up. It sounds amazing. I'm mainly interested in the Monsters area and the new HP area. The others are okay, but I am really looking forward to those areas.
Salon this afternoon
Have a relaxing, pampering salon day:)
Thanks for the review. I think we will try to go if we can get reservations. I know it is a popular event.
Charade, we went to Hoop De Doo a while ago and loved it. The food was fantastic and plenty of it. I think you will enjoy it.
SpaceX is visible from my house
DJ, you are so lucky to be able to see the launches from your house. I have never been to one but would love to.
steaks are marinading in maple balsamic, honey, garlic and a little soy sauce, beautiful!!
I have copied this one down too. It sounds delicious. Will try it later this week! Love your recipes:)
Dentist tomorrow, hoping to start the process of another implan
You are doing great, Carol, even though I know you don't want to do. But you are getting it started and that's a start:)
He and I have different opinions of comfort.
LOL, I hear you Mac. Roger and I can't seem to be on the same page at all. When I am cold, he is too warm, and vice versa. We just try to adjust, but it gets worse the older we get.
forgot to add....yes HHN is one night for sure!!!
I think my son is going to go for it at HHN. I am a chicken and won't be going to HHN! I would faint dead away if someone jumped out at me. But son is all happy about it:)

Well, that was quite a bit of catching up to do! I finally figured out how to do the quotes after all this time!!! I was too embarrassed to ask. It does help to respond to everyone this way, much easier:)

Wednesday is my day to take Mom to the store and out to eat, or wherever she wants to go. We both enjoy this day and have a nice time. Even though she is 96 y/o she is still very sharp and keeps me in line, LOL.

Tomorrow is a "me" day:) Every once in a while I like to go to town and do what I want to do. You know, the stores or shops your hubby might not want to do. It's fun to have a little retail therapy once in a while, and I plan on doing just that:)

Have a good weekend everyone:)

Haven`t quite made it to bed yet....lol.....

Tom says life is never dull with me, ever!!! Yes, I have babbled, walked in my sleep and apparently laugh too, sometimes he wakes me up asking what I`m laughing at....he never makes a sound when he`s asleep, thank goodness, that would annoy me!

I`ll send you a picture of it later, I owe you a reply! Yours must be very short indeed, but glad you like it. I was planning to have mine longer for Orlando, but think I`ll keep this length too.

You`d love Scottish produce, can`t be beaten!

I tend to cook pork steaks on the bbq (grill) well, Tom does them, pork fillet is similar, I give it a good old marinade and cook it on a high heat quickly, full of juice and flavour. Soy sauce, honey, mustard and garlic is a classic for pork fillet. I always enjoy mixing it up a little with flavours.

Yes, I am going to get something to deal with those appointments, especially the 90 minute appointment....eek!!!! Just hope the bone is suitable now.

And you`re doing fab with the quotes!!! It`s so much better than posting 8 times jsut to reply to everyone. I had to ask too when I first posted how to multi quote.

Glad today was nice with your mum, and enjoy tomorrow, a "just for me" day is nice now and again :wave2:

disneysenior, I bake not fry our dinners.
We just prefer our meats that way.

My chicken is close to being done and I am counting down the minutes before it is food time for us!

I think we roast most of our meat, unless it`s cooked on the grill when we have decent weather, roasting it off means I get to use most of the marinade when serving. Can`t beat a roast chicken.

Despite the heat last night, we both slept really well again, it`s still warm this morning but kinda breezy and a little cloudy. Going to walk this morning all the same.

Got some breakfast muffins this morning with our tea, fast and filling then shopping, usual places we go to including a couple of farm stores for fresh produce, lunch then the dreaded dental appointment.

Dinner will be chicken thighs, will make up a marinade after our walk, and usual sides although making some potato salad too.

Seems on Monday, which is July 1st.....one of our movie channels turns into the Christmas Movie Channel.......seriously!!!!! I love Christmas, but holy santa claus, that is far too early!!

Quick cuppa and we`re off!

@Charade67 it really is a small world, when we were in Key West at Mallory Sq for sunset I kept hearing someone call my name. I ignored it thinking it must be someone else. But the last insistent call I turned and it was a neighbour who lives a few blocks away!
We were only there a few days but walked around, did 2 tours, and enjoyed some beach time. I regret not doing the kayak tour thru the mangroves.
Sorry about podiatrists appt.

@schumigirl you motivated me to make a hair appt! lol. Need 1-2 inches off. And root touch up. My hair has grown longer since Covid I’ve let it grow out, but still regular trims every 3 months. For me it’s easier. And can get it off my neck in summer heat. I sleep with it in a pony. Then looks nice in morning.
Good luck with implant! I’ve had 2, no problems. Are you going to the same person who did the last implant? I get nervous at dentist too. Our dentist of 40 yrs retired!!! He was so gentle and very thorough. A woman bought the practice. I’m getting used to her but it’s just not the same!

@macraven sounds like my husband. Can’t handle the heat at all! I tolerate it very easily.

@Pumpkin1172 i don’t even want to think about the exchange rate :faint: What did wdw leave us out of? Out of curiosity! The last time we were there FP was discontinued but new Genie system wasn’t up yet so everything was standby.
Have you tried the K-18 treatment mask to strengthen your hair?

@disneyseniors thanks, I did get sleep the next day, with some help from meletonin gummies! It does feel awful when you only had 3 hrs sleep!

PS- I woke up this morning and must have fallen asleep last night before I hit SEND

Good morning, I think. Rainy and 13c outside. Supposed to get nice again by tomorrow! It’s soup weather. Actually have the fireplace on and it’s almost July. June can’t seem to decide if it wants to be summer or a cold spring!
I made a hearty soup yesterday in the instant pot. Plenty left for today. Always best the second day.

This morning have a meeting. Then will run out to do a few errands. Must remember to phone the bakery near my daughter and reserve a couple loaves of their Rustic Sourdough for tomorrow. . So good! Will be at daughter’s house tomorrow to pick her up for theatre night! She’ll drive my car into town. I hate all the traffic in the city.
