Something About Nothing............ #14

The weather is still blowing a hoolie here, the wind seems to be getting stronger, it should ease later.

Spent the afternoon cleaning, bathrooms and my electric double oven including all the shelves and inside, not too bad as I do it very regularly, more regular than is normal according to friends.....I like everything clean and tidy, nothing wrong with that!!

Decided on Aberdeen Angus burgers tonight, no bun for me but got Tom some Brioche buns, very sweet but nice! Make them spicy and do the usual sides, still to make up coleslaw and spicy cous cous, got some more hotter than hot chillies from my friend, they`ll go nicely!

Might see the Aurora tonight, think we might be too far South and too cloudy....typical, but will still look to see.

After all the cleaning, time for a cuppa, Tom went out volunteering this afternoon, only for a couple of hours so he shouldn`t be too long.

Love a Friday.......🍷

Forgot to say, hope Charade is doing better today......:)

I do admire peeps like Schumi that stay organized all the time.
There are days when I have no idea of what to make for dinner…..lol

As long as you eat, all good!!

I could never be one of those folks that plan their meals a week ahead.....nope, couldn`t do that, never appealed to me at all, whatever we feel like eating that day, we have it.

One of the reasons we never plan where we`ll eat when we`re on vacation, decide that morning or even an hour before...lol....I could never be a planner, but organised, yup, absolutely.

Any nice food plans for the weekend? I always love the sound of your bbq place, not something that we have an option of here, so we do our own, but to have an amazing place so close is lovely.

lol...just saw you`re thinking bbq.....go for it!!!!

I just tasted the spicy cous cous I made, oh yes, it`s spicy alright!! Those little suckers have a real kick!!

Sun is back out, warm but still breezy, we thought summer was over earlier, but maybe not.....at least it`s warm. It`s been lovely listening to 70`s and 80`s music all afternoon while I did my little jobs.

Tom is home, seems he feels like a glass of wine instead of a cup of tea......fine by me!!

@keishashadow great pics, sounds like the perfect location at OKW! But 85min wait to get in pool, did I read that right? I’ve never seen that in wdw. But last time I was in Ft Lauderdale Feb 2023 we were in our usual hotel but winter snowbird people are different! They would get up in the morning and right away go down to the pool and put a towel down to reserve lounges, so rude.

@Pumpkin1172 2x the size of horseflies :scared: Yikes! Horsefly bite hurts enough! I can’t imagine.

@schumigirl good to hear dentist appt went well. They don’t do impressions here anymore either, new technology. I can relate to the fear. I blame my uncle who was my dentist growing up. Admit I was a horrible patient, and his big threat was if I didn’t behave he would send me to a stranger. So I developed a fear of going to a dentist, a stranger!

Ooooh, we loved Vicar of Dibley, totally forgot about that show!

@drenalin'junkie what a beautiful cake! Did you bake it? Haven’t been to SeaWorld in years, maybe this next trip we’ll get a day ticket! The nice thing is the bus stops at Universal resorts.

@Robo56 nice fans! I requested tower 3 lagoon view again for park views! We’re looking forward to returning! Love their pool.
Hotter than Florida? Is that possible? I think this will be another hot summer. Will have lots of afternoon pool time!

@Charade67 im sorry to hear about Kidney stone. I have a few friends that have them. No fun.
Glad it passed while you were in the hospital.

@schumigirl hope you get to see the Aurora! I never thought we’d see it here, but Mother’s Day weekend we did! It was amazing. Seen as far south as Washington state. We were in Whistler, BC about a 1.5 hr drive and we were away from city lights. If you look thru your cell phone camera you get to see more colours.

Long weekend here, Canada Day on Monday 🇨🇦 daughter and I will go to the fireman’s pancake breakfast. They put it on every Canada Day. Always happy to support them, and there’s always a great turn out. Lots going on at the park by the inlet. Bands, ribs, beer garden, lots of booths and games for the kids. Don’t know if there will be fireworks this year, but if there are, we can see them from our backyard deck.

Tonight is dinner and show night with my daughters. My birthday present from them!

Weather looks like it is trying to clear up. I see blue sky! It’s been a rainy cold week. Yuck. I’m ready for summer. Just when I think it’s here, it changes.

They still do impressions, I`ll be getting them for the actual implant, the scan is an alternate that isn`t always suitable for some dental works, he just doesn`t want to pull the crown I`m getting replaced out, which an impression would do that.

We`ve seen the Northern Lights so many times, ironically not when we went to Norway specifically to see them years ago, they had a freak 5 days and we didn`t see them then very clearly, but we do see them here quite a bit even being further down.

We also have the telescope permanently set up, so we can see everything better through that, it is a whopper so we are very lucky there. Right now it`s 50/50 if the sky clears of cloud.

Hope you have a lovely evening.

Managed to cook out on the grill, bit breezy, so I stayed inside and set the kitchen table instead of the patio one.....I sincerely hope summer isn`t over now.

Burgers were nice, so much more flavour in Aberdeen Angus steak, nice glass of wine to finish the meal off nicely, and headed through to watch Dracula Untold, it`s not the same watching movies like that in the light nights. It wasn`t that good to be fair. Want to watch the Insidious movies, but again, it`s too light.

Now to find something else to watch, lazy night for us, and it is getting hotter again, wind has died down altogether....thank goodness.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to it. Phoned the bakery near my daughters to ask them to put aside a couple of loaves of sourdough. They make the best rustic sourdough. I should get there 30 min before they close! They always sell out.

Hope the lights are good tonight. We aren’t far enough north to see them normally. So was a big event here! I don’t understand why, something about the phone camera filters? But it really made the
colours pop.

I can’t recall if I had impressions for my implant but sure remember that scan! Actually I can’t remember the last time I had impressions, nasty stuff.

Hello again. Today was a much better day than yesterday even though I have spent the day battling a headache that just doesn’t want to go away. I tried Tylenol but it didn’t help, so I tried on of the painkillers they sent home from the hospital. The headache is almost gone now.
I took it fairly easy today. I did some laundry and stitching but that is all.

charade I pray you will feel better real soon
Thank you. I am feeling much better now.

Goodness me Charade, you have been through the mill with this. I do remember you having this issue before, it is indeed one of the most excruciating of pains to suffer, once is once too many, but on your third round is awful.

Hope you got some sleep and take some time to recover, it does drain you when you have pain like that, and glad you got some food too. Take it easy today.
Thank you. Apparently once you get a kidney stone you are more prone to get them again.

Hope you’re feeling mo gooder C!
So much gooder today than yesterday. Thank you.

Seaworld gave us 4 bonus tickets that have to be used by Sunday so the van is going to be full tomorrow.
Nice perk. Hope you have good weather.

Forgot to say, hope Charade is doing better today...
Much better, thanks.

Well, it’s lunch time for me and trying to decide if I want bbq from the place down the street from me or eat up last nights leftovers.
I would go for the BBQ.

I could never be one of those folks that plan their meals a week ahead.....nope, couldn`t do that, never appealed to me at all, whatever we feel like eating that day, we have it.
I am the opposite. In have to plan so I know what to buy. I don’t plan specific days, just for the week in general.

im sorry to hear about Kidney stone. I have a few friends that have them. No fun.
Glad it passed while you were in the hospital.
Thanks. They are awful. Zero stars. Would not recommend.

I think I will take another easy day tomorrow.

Yes ma'am. Bake sweets every weekend we're in town. Have bite of two and share the rest.

I wish we liked sourdough, but not for us, when we do buy bread it`s usually from the bakery in our village, but now they only do sourdough except for one type of rye bread which we don`t like either, so I always tend to make my own but we have found a bakery two villages over who still do focaccia and so on, but it`s so easy to make ourselves. Yes, it is popular.

Hard to beat a telescope, picks up everything, even the most subtle of colour changes, but, we didn`t see much as we eventually went to bed but did see some spectacular noctilucent cloud which was pretty cool to see.

Last impressions for me were earlier this year for the first implant. Pretty horrible as one was a three minute impression, that did not go well, then they didn`t get the correct impression so had to do it again....that was fun!

Glad you`re doing better Charade, horrible experience for sure. I didn`t know it was common for it to repeat later, not a nice thought, hopefully that will be your last time. And yes, take it easy today too, will do you the world of good to chill out.

I think we have some dishes regularly so I will buy the same things weekly, makes sense. Sometimes I wish I was a planner, but doubt I ever will be now. Fresh veg, salad and fruit are constants for sure.

Despite seeing some beautiful cloud formations during the night, this morning we have some regular grey cloud, not as nice a day, hope it clears up as I planned to wear a very summery dress tonight for dinner out.

Today will be 8 years since one of my very closest friends passed away far too young at 50, but we do always remember the fun times and all the laughter we had together over the years we knew her. So, while it`s a day we won`t forget, we will always celebrate her, she`d like that as she did love a bottle of wine!!!

No walking today, so very lazy morning and will do breakfast a little later as sleeping beauty is out for the count. No eating outside this morning either, so have the kitchen table set. I feel like French toast with bacon this morning and a nice poached egg on top.

It`s our Armed Forces Day here in the UK today, so we have an event near us, so we`ll go and support that before lunchtime for a couple of hours, most folks have someone in the Forces, so we`ll always support that. Army, Airforce and I believe Cadets too all show off some of their skills and it`s always fun.

Hoping the restaurant we are going to tonight have oysters as a special, they sometimes do, I had them the last time and they were beautiful, not an opinion shared by my husband or son!!!

Time for tea......🫖

Have a wonderful Saturday and weekend 😊

@schumigirl thats too bad the lights were a non event. Very happy the bakery put aside 2 loaves for me!
Those impressions are retched esp the upper one.
Sorry about your loss, but very nice to look back and remember the good times, and celebrate them.

@Charade67 yes, good idea to take it easy another day. Glad to hear you’re on the mend.

Dinner and the show tonight were both excellent. Always nice to have an evening with my daughters. They enjoyed the show too! I just got home, it’s 12:30am here. The freeway just before our exit turned into a parking lot, all eastbound lanes. Must’ve been a bad accident somewhere ahead.

Thanks for keeping the nightlight on!

Good Saturday Morning everyone :wave2:

Yup...they are at least twice the size of horseflies. They are NASTY!!!! And they hurt when they bite! They will bite your butt through jeans and your camp chair!!!! We are headed to the NWT - just on the south side of Great Slave Lake. Their mosquitos are huge too! I love visiting there - I just don't like the bugs. They can be pretty thick some years.
Wow…..those are some big mosquitoes.

Robbie welcome home, hope you had a relaxing trip this go-round. That is a very cute toy
Thank you Janet. I did get some much needed relaxing time with some park time thrown in the mix. It was a nice trip.

Looks like you all are having a wonderful time on vacation. Enjoy yourselves.

I am home. I was finally released at 11:15. It was indeed a kidney stone. I think it may have passed while in the hospital. I was in agony when I got there, but felt much better after receiving the pain medication. A few hours later the pain started to increase again. I was on the verge of asking for more pain meds when suddenly the pain was gone. So far it has not returned.
Charade sorry to hear you had a kidney stone. I have seen folks in the hospital with them and know they are terribly painful. Glad to hear you were able to pass the stone. I hope you get some much needed rest this weekend to recoup and feel better.

Long weekend here, Canada Day on Monday 🇨🇦 daughter and I will go to the fireman’s pancake breakfast. They put it on every Canada Day. Sounds like a nice way to get and support your local Firemen and get involved with the festivities. Have fun.

So sad when people pass so young. Celebrating your friends life and keeping those special memories alive in your heart is awesome. I’am sure she will be tipping her glass with you in spirit.

Did get out and get some fresh produce in house yesterday. Sam’s has the most delicious cherries I have ever had in stock. So after getting home I got all the produce prepped that needed it and in the containers in the refrigerator.

Sue we have a lady that does fresh rustic sour dough at our local Farmers Market. It looks wonderful, but I don’t like the taste of sour dough. I have tried it a few times and It is so sour and bitter tasting to me. I guess it is akin to folks who don’t like the taste of Cilantro and say it tastes like soap. Strangely I don’t like the taste of Starbucks lemonade. It has a soapy taste to me.

I made spaghetti with meat sauce for dinner last night and hubby was a happy camper with his dinner.

While I was out yesterday I did pick up some Everything bagels and some avocados. So I made my favorite breakfast this morning, Avocado and sliced cherry tomatoes on toasted bagel with slice boiled egg. Sounds gross, bit it is good.

I bought little J a large potted cherry tomato plant a couple of months ago and he is keeping his tomato plant watered. It is on their patio and getting plenty of sun. He is already harvesting tomatoes off his plant. He loves cherry tomatoes.

Going to get out in the yard today and do a few things before the heat of the day gets here. Small chance of rain in the forecast. Will see what develops.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

People did get some beautiful pictures of it from this area, but we went to bed, I didn`t plan on sitting up to wait for it, some very professional looking pictures too.

Thank you yes, we did toast her last night, I think she`d have approved :-)

They did have oysters Robbie and yes, they were gorgeous!! Yes, it`s good to keep the happy memories we have of her.

Oh goodness no, that`s one of my favourite breakfasts, not on a bagel as I don`t eat them, but avocado with a poached egg on toast for me is gorgeous!!! I`m usually on my own with avocado as Tom doesn`t like them unless it`s a guacamole lol....

We`re those that think cilantro tastes of soap, just cannot eat it, even the smell of it is not nice to us. But sourdough, I don`t understand the fuss everyone makes over it, I`d rather have a cheap old slice of generic bread than eat it. I do like a garlic and rosemary focaccia and my own is always nicer than anyone else makes it .....I`m biased of course :P

I love the little guy is nurturing a tomato plant, it`ll be lovely he can reap the rewards of looking after it with getting the tomatoes off it, so cute.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

We did have a wonderful evening last night. I think we have found our new favourite restaurant. All our meals were stunning, steaks, lamb and ribs were all amazing and yup, oysters to start and Tom and Kyle had a shrimp dish and those shrimps were mahoosive!!! We had gone there about 8 weeks ago for a meal and it was just as good then too, so we`ll definitely be back.

Today Kyle is parking here before heading down the front to meet other runners for a 10 mile run, then he`ll shower and change here afterwards and we have him all day for lunch, dinner and the Grand Prix.....that`ll be lovely!!

So not much going on for us today apart from popping out for a little bit of shopping to the veg farm store close by while he is running and it is gorgeous out there today. Doing a bbq for dinner tonight, so we have a nice selection for Tom to cook.

But, bacon and poached egg first this morning and lots of tea as we did have one or two wines last night!!! Will go wake sleeping beauty with a big mug of tea in bed for him soon, he`s still sound asleep right now, then breakfast later.

Hope Charade is still doing better and I know keisha and fam are enjoying their trip.....think we need some more pics Janet........:D

Have a lovely Sunday!!

Caspian woke me up around 3:00 and I have not been able to get back to sleep. Not how I wanted to start the day.

Yesterday was a very lazy day. I slept late, went to lunch, then spent the rest of the day stitching and napping. I’m feeling much better from the kidney stone, but now my back and sides are sore. I hurt every time I laugh or cough. I assume I have sore muscles from all the throwing up I did on Thursday. Thankfully I have another day to recover.

Today will be 8 years since one of my very closest friends passed away far too young at 50, but we do always remember the fun times and all the laughter we had together over the years we knew her. So sorry about your friend. These are the types of anniversaries I really hate. Yes, 50 is far too young, but it’s nice that she will be remembered in such a positive way.

Charade sorry to hear you had a kidney stone. I have seen folks in the hospital with them and know they are terribly painful. Glad to hear you were able to pass the stone. I hope you get some much needed rest this weekend to recoup and feel better.
Thank you. It’s a horrible feeling I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Did get out and get some fresh produce in house yesterday. Sam’s has the most delicious cherries I have ever had in stock. So after getting home I got all the produce prepped that needed it and in the containers in the refrigerator.
I never think to look at produce when I go to Sam’s. I usually get non food essentials like toilet paper and allergy medicine. Now I’m craving something made from cherries.

I bought little J a large potted cherry tomato plant a couple of months ago and he is keeping his tomato plant watered. It is on their patio and getting plenty of sun. He is already harvesting tomatoes off his plant. He loves cherry tomatoes.
How sweet. You make have sparked an interest in gardening.

I’m going to try to get back to sleep. I think I see an afternoon nap coming today.

Last full cruise day boohoo

Looking forward to mama Mia show tonight

On coco cay. I may stowaway. Love it here

How sweet. You make have sparked an interest in gardening.

I’m going to try to get back to sleep. I think I see an afternoon nap coming today.

Oh you will be sore for sure after all you`ve been through, glad you could take it easy for a couple of days.

Yes, shockingly young and she was one of the most alive people you would ever meet.

Hope you got that well deserved nap!

Beautiful pictures, yes, I`d have hot footed it back to the boat with those crowds!!!

Enjoy Mama Mia tonight, always a feel good show.

Had a lovely day with Kyle, he enjoyed his run with about 15 others this morning which turned into an 18 mile run.....er no. Nice to have him here for the day, he did borrow a holdall as he`s going away with work for a few days, nice!!! Hotel he stays in down there is lovely, wouldn`t mind visiting it myself at some point.

Chatted the day away while watching the Grand Prix, then had a nice dinner, made a meal of appetisers and some charcuterie, no dessert as he is now in marathon training again, very little chocolate for the next several months!! Wish I had his will power, guess I`ll never be slim!!!

Lazy night for us, sun is shining which is nice but it`s cooler than it should be.

July tomorrow!!
