Something About Nothing............ #14

Keisha, last month I made this month, next month and December appointments, as I too like the lady that does my hair. I know her calendar will fill up fast as we get closer to the holidays. Legally blonde for the next month. Yay! Yeah, my DH got the flu and shingles shots at the same time. He’s fine. Think he has to go back in a little while for another shingles shot. Hehe, guess I am young enough not to need those two shots. Did have the flu once, and never want to feel like it again. May get the flu shot in another year or two.

Alarm on for DH. Little one asked for breakfast out, with then some grocery shopping tomorrow. Asked her what time we are to be leaving. She said, 9 am. Okay then. I’m pretty sure I’ll be up before her. I wake up early even without needing the alarm. But difference is I won’t be as fast to get moving until closer to nine.

Ah, that Thursday night to be in pajamas and having DH asleep next to me. Watching screen for a little while before I do my night time get ready for bed.

Well,, I'm catching up again!

Keisha: I agree that a shot in both shoulders at the same time is Not Good!!! My husband just had that done and his arms were sore for 2 days. He is definitely not the type to complain about anything medical. I haven't had my flu shot yet, but just can't wait, LOL. So glad to see that you were banned too:) I was feeling pretty lonely being banned, LOL.

Also congratulations on your granddaughters published paper! She sounds like a very gifted writer for her age, and it's something to be proud of:)

Schumi: Congratulations to Kyle on his 10 k run. It amazes me that he can continue to run with his leg problems. It will be good that he will get somewhat of a rest this winter.
I also loved the pictures of your cookies, oops biscuits, LOL. They look absolutely yummy!

Well, now you can join the rebel club. I dont' blame you for getting upset in that situation. If it's something to do with my kids, I would do the same thing (and have:)

Charade: It looks like you had a nice trip, and it's always good to get home too.

Lynne: Looks like your Monday started off good, and hope the week is good too:)

I took my Mother to the casino yesterday for her birthday, and she Had A Ball! She is the luckiest person I've ever known, and she always, always wins. We had a lot of fun laughing and eating and I didn't get her home until after 5pm, which is late for her. Tomorrow, on her real birthday, I am making steaks, baked potatoes, homemade bread, and chocolate cake for dessert! The celebration goes on, LOL

Hope everyone has a good week:)

Hello everyone. Time has gotten away from me this week, so I will do a quick catch up.

Okay. I definitely won't be getting 2 shots at once. That's a scary temperature. Glad you are back to normal now.

Congratulations to her.

That is too funny. I guess they weren't expecting someone to go into mama bear mode.

I would love to visit the news museum. I have heard good things about it. I also wanted to visit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, but they still haven't opened up to public tours.

They look good.

There's a senior version?

That looks really good.

I don't think my family has eaten 30 eggs all year. We don't make many meals that call for eggs. I should do some baking when winter hits.

Happy belated birthday to her.

Yum! Unfortunately I am the only one in the family that really likes them.

Welcome back. Nice that you got to spend some time with family. I just wish it was for a happier reason.

We've had a few interesting things this week. Tuesday night was another football game. Our team won again. We are now 7-0. On the way home from the game we were driving on a dark, curvy road. Dh came around one curve and there was a deer in the middle of the road. He slammed on his breaks and she trotted off. We came close, but thankfully did not hit her.

The other interesting news is that we might be changing internet companies. Our neighborhood is in the process of getting fiber optic lines. This might finally convince dh to give up cable.

I am going to go sit and stitch. I am currently working on a dragon that I am giving to B.

lol...ironically we are not usually big egg eaters, for example I would never serve breakfast for dinner, just not for us at all. But, we do enjoy Eggs Benedict/Royale for breakfast and I bake a lot so they disappear fairly quickly for folks that don`t really eat eggs. The chickens are at the end of their laying season now and I don`t know if they plan to replace them next year. We have other farms around that have freshly laid eggs if we do want some.

Definitely go for Fibre Optic, we have the fastest Broadband in the UK and they use FO.....it is very fast indeed.

We started a new series adaptation of Poe’s fall of the house of usher. Ravens included

Family depiction vaguely reminds me of succession (which I loved).

Anyone watching this season of AHS? Not a Kim K fan. Gotta admit, she’s slaying it. Pun intended

IDK many told me they’ve been fine & dandy. I just get a fever after most inoculations Told it’s a good thing, supposedly shows it’s taking hold.

Yes. It’s recommended that anyone over 64 receive either a senior one, that is either higher-dose vaccine or adjuvanted one. contains “bonus” ingredients that boost the effectiveness by prompting a stronger immune response than standard flu shots.

I just noticed I used Larry’s cake for my pic for Ruth’s mom. I’m 😂 willing to bet she has the same great sort sense of humor as her daughter

Whoohoo. I made my appt for next month. Only two slots open for my girl week prior to thanksgiving.

We tried that show as I`m a big EAP fan, but I couldn`t get into it at all, I liked the sound of it, but struggled to get through the first episode. I usually have a 10 minute rule, if it doesn`t grip me in that time I pass....but did try the whole hour. Hope you enjoy it though.

Haven`t watched Succession though, might give it a go if it`s still on Netflix.

Gave up on AHS several years back, yes, didn`t think KK would be up to much but glad to hear she`s doing it justice.

I did giggle at Larry too.....lol......

I need to borrow your mom as I never win even when I cheat…

lol.....

It has indeed been a wild and woolly night and still going on now. going to be a miserable day ahead.

Definitely a day for staying in so planning to do some housework, we split it between us with Tom doing his share, then bake, so most of the day we`ll be sitting through in the kitchen, I like days like that though. We have a tv with all the channels on it and we quite enjoy watching it through there, although DH does joke about the size of it as it`s not the biggest tv, but who needs a huge tv in the kitchen!! Perfect for me if I put it on.

Doing a pork fillet in honey, mustard, soy, ginger and garlic for tonight, quick flash roast and then slice on top of some lo mein noodles with asian veg, that`ll be lovely for dinner tonight, lunch will be whatever we feel like and breakfast will be simple poached eggs on toast. But, lots of tea too, on my second cup now. No rush to do anything this morning with that weather out there.

Have a lovely Friday!!

Little one did get up early. Cleaned our plates at the diner, then did two different farm stores, Costco and Target run. Now airing for more coffee.

Nice Friday so far. With rain in the forecast for later today.

That’s what happens when you post a pic without having your reading glasses firmly in place. :rolleyes1

first thot after discovering it was, thank goodness, it was just his name & not something trashy :faint:

lol.....I`ve done that before!!!! Thankfully it was someone who had a sense of humour about the mix up!

The name Larry always makes me think of a cat for some reason??

Had a look for Succession on Netflix today, seems our region doesn`t get it.

This has been the wildest day we`ve had for years, so much wind and rain. No flooding for us, but there are so many people who`ve had damage from water today and last night.

But, for my husband and I, it`s been the cosiest of days as always. Spent most of it in the kitchen baking and watching some tv, drinking tea and just chilling as it was so wild outside.

Kyle dropped in tonight before heading back out and gave me a bottle of wine from his colleagues, a thank you for the cookies......awwww!! Lovely but no need, it`s an absolute pleasure to send them in treats. A very nice South African Pinotage Malbec that will be a treat.

Lazy night again, watching a UK tv show called Payback, it`s very good, set in Edinburgh and we`re hooked!

Not long finished dinner, time for tea and something from the baking I think to go with it....

And it`s still bouncing down with rain and blowing a hoolie.....should be gone by tomorrow morning!

It's Friday :cheer2:

It's another beautiful fall morning here. The skies are clear and the sun is shinning. It is actually fairly warm here - which kind of surprised me this am. I probably could have kept the window open a little longer during the night last night - but dh hates when I have the window open then hears the furnace kick in . But I will appreciate the amazing day ahead.

I didn't do much last night. I was soooo tired. I even went to Costco and picked up the chicken taco kit and some bagged sweet kale salad for dinner.

My car got her winter boots (tires) on this morning so far and now is getting a new windshield. I told dh I didn't want to push it off again like he tends to do. So my Izzy is getting some TLC that she needs. Next week hopefully we can get her in for a new muffler and one other small fix as well - and she will be purring right along for another winter. Hopefully maybe by next spring - interest rates will be a little lower OR there will be some special inhouse financing going on to buy a new-to-me vehicle.

I took my Mother to the casino yesterday for her birthday, and she Had A Ball! She is the luckiest person I've ever known, and she always, always wins. It sounds like it was a grand celebration!!! My grandma loved bingo too!!! I remember being a little girl - staying with her when mom and dad went somewhere so Grandma took us to Bingo with her.
Dh came around one curve and there was a deer in the middle of the road. He slammed on his breaks and she trotted off. We came close, but thankfully did not hit her.
That is always such a worry!

I think someone has been feeding a couple that frequent our neighborhood. Dh went to shoo one away from the neighbors shrub that she was nibbling on....and dh was actually able to pet her. She was probably last years fawn and must have recently left her momma. I have seen some other posts of this same deer that people are petting her as well. I have a feeling Fish and Wildlife may step in and relocate her before she becomes a nuisance.
Ah, that Thursday night to be in pajamas and having DH asleep next to me. Watching screen for a little while before I do my night time get ready for bed.
I do that same! I have had to get used to sleeping through a dh who doesn't sleep well and is always up and rustling around at night - and watching tv :sad2: I don't get upset - as he has never slept well - but it was something I have had to get used to and learn to sleep through. My rule is - NO HUNTING channel!!! I don't need to hear " whisper whisper whisper - then BANG, BANG " :rolleyes2

Enjoy your day! That sounds like the perfect day to me!!! I was hoping to take a day off today - but when I was going to talk to my manager about it - he was occupied with another employee - and I didn't interrupt that chat.

I hope your day goes splendid.

Well, I should get to shuffling some papers around.

Have a great day everyone!

I would swap your lovely weather for ours, but I think you get much worse than us once winter starts....so you enjoy it while you have it!! This is very rare for us to get it as bad, it`ll be gone soon.

Yes, it`s been a lovely day despite the weather. Hope you get a day off soon, spending a day baking is so much fun!! Not so great for the diet though.....but we do give a lot of it away, that helps a bit!

Happy new winter tyres!!!

Don’t laugh, I’m excited about dinner tonight. Bought those preservative free, natural casing ones on the string lol.

Was going to grill them out, it’s pouring. Airfryer will do nicely. Going to make some “poutine” tater tots. Got a bag of that cheese by mistake and looking for ways to use it up.

Dh came around one curve and there was a deer in the middle of the road. He slammed on his breaks and she trotted off. We came close, but thankfully did not hit her.
Yikes! the mr almost totaled my Cadillac years back that way. just under the $ threshold. I was happy as loved that car.

insurance co sends us quarterly magazines. Article on deer, said to not slow down, just plow into them.

i brake for squirrels, don’t think I could do that in a split moment.

I guess most people either try to swerve (and hit oncoming traffic) or brake without looking behind them and set off a chain accident.

other than a trim at local walk in place when bangs were obscuring my vision, haven’t stepped forth in salon since 3rd week in June. Don’t really see any roots, had people ask me if I was changing over to an ombré. I’m just slowly fading away It seems

It`s always good to get excited about dinner!! Good cooks know good food! Never had poutine....can`t say it`s ever been on our radar really, must remedy that.

That`s a good time between cuts, mine doesn`t need doing that often either, will get my appointment sorted for beginning of next month nearer the time. I don`t need to make appointments ahead of time as she always has one for me and her other regulars, don`t know how she does it but we can call one day and get in the next if need be.

Wind is definitely starting to die down, still raining heavily though, actually...wind has just got up again, going to be one of those nights. Almost time for bed here.

No plans made for tomorrow.....apart from Tom suggested we get takeout tomorrow night, that`ll do for me! Apart from that, not much going on for us, nice quiet one which suits us nicely when the weather is like this.

I didn’t know it was sloth day until a few minutes ago.
Today has been fairly lazy. B and I did venture out for lunch and then a quick trip to Target. I also stopped by Kohls to get some winter gloves. I always keep a pair of gloves in every coat or winter jacket I have.
It was such a gloomy, rainy day that I decided to go to the grocery to pick up ingredients to make chili. By supper time the sun had come out and we had a nice evening.

Little one did get up early. Cleaned our plates at the diner, then did two different farm stores, Costco and Target run. Now airing for more coffee.

Sounds similar our day but with Kohl’s instead of Costco.
I probably could have kept the window open a little longer during the night last night - but dh hates when I have the window open then hears the furnace kick in
I like sleeping with windows open. Only problem is that here it is usually too warm or too cool to do so. We don’t get enough “Goldilocks” weather.
It’s 72 here but feels nippy.
Sounds perfect to me.

We probably could have swerved, but she was literally standing on the center line of a 2 lane road. Thankfully it was late and there were no other cars around.

Well, most of the chili has been consumed and B is now washing dishes. I think I will see if there is anything worth watching on TV. We are already behind on season 2 of Loki.

Just finished watching Elf movie on tv.

As many times I have watched it, still get sucked in to watch it again.

It’s harmless and cute

It was Mr Mac’s turn to pick our movie to choose tonight.

For some odd reason, he still gets a kick to see the same movie vie over and over again.

Christmas type of movies start early each year.

We don’t subscribe to the pay movies, but do watch the regular programs that are free.

When my boys were little, the holiday tv movies would start early each season.

no clue why we get holiday movies so soon in this season?

I guess I don’t really mind this programming starts early as it is a light hearted type of movie

don’t mind it being on this early in the season but if our stations continue to have Christmas theme movies nowadays, i will know the scrips by heart by Christmas time!

Going to food shop in the morning as we ran out of leftovers this evening
stood shopping on a saturday always have crowds

Our pay movies had their Christmas channel start first day of July!!! As someone who adores Christmas, that is too early even for me. Lordy not that early!!! Nothing wrong with watching Christmas movies once the dark nights arrive for us.

We have about 14 or 15 Christmas movies we watch faithfully every year on DVD, Scrooged, Home Alone, Christmas Vacation....you know the sort and we usually start Dec 1st and work through to Christmas Eve, always ending with Alastair Sim version of Scrooge and White Christmas. Tradition.

I only watched Elf for the first time last year, I don`t like Will Ferrell so I struggle with his movies.

Winds have finally dies down although it is still raining this morning should go off soon and then more forecast for later today, but nothing like the last 24 hours.

No reason to be up so early, but woke up as is normal and couldn`t get back to sleep, so I let sleeping beauty carry on sleeping and got up to make a cup of tea and catch up on the news.

Have a load of veg to roast off today then blitz into some soup for the freezer, I think I may need it when I get the implant put in, he said I`ll be a little sore for a couple of days. So, butternut squash, sweet potato, carrots, buttered leeks, onions, red peppers, apple, celery, garlic...lots of garlic, rosemary, a little thyme usual seasonings and some gorgeous chicken stock. All zapped together it`ll taste lush!! Everything we picked up from the farm store on Thursday apart from the herbs, they`re ours.

Breakfast today I`m going to make French Toast with bacon, lunch might be a bowl of my soup and dinner is going to be takeout pizza. Kyle is joining us tonight so he chose pizza. Suits us just fine.

Tea will do for now though.....lazy day ahead with some Austin F1 to watch before the main race tomorrow, not our favourite race of the season. And my new-ish lady is coming to wax my legs again, she seems very nice and I like she is mobile, but she`s hoping to have her own salon in the new year.

Have a wonderful weekend whatever you may be doing.

Hi …I enjoy your friendly updates all the time … so thank you!
I always have to mention my favorite forever holiday movie ..
The Man Who Invented Christmas with Dan Stevens as the main character.

Welcome along DL1WDW2!

Good to see you here, hope you enjoy the thread. There`s so many wonderful Christmas movies, wouldn`t be the same without watching some every year.

Ooh Christmas decor has been in the stores since starting in August. Not much Halloween stuff left. Haven’t watched a Christmas movie yet. Last one I think I watched was the Polar Express. Time of year they will be starting to be shown on free and cable tv. Nothing like getting in the spirit, Mac. At least Mr. Mac picked one you did enjoy watching too. The ones I like that gets me in the spirit are the comic ones I saw as a kid. Frosty, Charlie Brown, and Rudolph.

And speaking of the holidays coming. Already pencilled in our baking weekend. Even older one said he’ll take off, as want to help with the candy we also do. And little one wants to make seasoned and toasted nuts, so that’s on our list this year. We have made them in the past, but not lately. A week or so before, my sister and I make our lists of what we want to make, as then we split up what each needs to get, so we don’t have to go out much when we are ready to start.

Well, no rain fell yesterday, so our 50 percent chance of getting rain, was yay with no rain. Today, the clouds rule the day, but just some light rain chances as said, and the wind picks up in the afternoon to make it more chilly feeling. 62 the high. But yay, in our 10 day forecast, saying 70’s highs on some of the days. Woot! Keep those beautiful 70’s degree, and sunny filled, Fall days coming.

Hehe, oops forgot to turn off the alarm, but DH and I were up anyway. I did turn it off after about 10 or so minutes, as then I heard the all the news of the day.

Super happy Saturday today homies. Hope all are enjoying a wonderful weekend.

DH asked what I have planned today. Um, I think a pick up and drop off, as no fitting item. Yeah, another lazy day for me. Yay!

Happy Saturday to everyone!

When I worked I lived for the weekends

Now all my days are free and easy and saturday is the one time I avoid grocery shopping.

Me too mac.....one of the perks of being a lady of leisure is having every day as a lazy day if one wishes!! No grocery stores on the weekend for us either, in fact I avoid any type of store on a Saturday!

Hope you have a lovely Saturday too......
