Family pumpkin carving later tonight with late game day vittles.

Working on wings now. Going to stuff in in crock pot on low to keep down the last min rush.

I’ve never been able to sit thru any will ferrell
Movie other than

I love that meme!! Gonna steal it......

Only funny movie Adam Sandler has ever made.....we`re watching it tonight once Harry Potter is finished!

Never seen that movie you mentioned......

Enjoy your day and evening, sounds like a lot of fun for a family get together!!

Pizza is gone, Tom and I shared a large pizza and it was very filling.......beached whales spring to mind as I glance at him and I on opposite sofas stretching out.......lol......

Glass of wine time though before we move through to watch the movie......

Keisha have fun carving. We bought our pumpkins yesterday, but we carve the afternoon of Halloween.

Sun came out and a Mickey puzzle I got is taking me much longer to complete. Still not done. After a few pieces, well had to move a large piece around, then gave up for a little while. Will be nice when it’s done.

It's a puttering kind of Saturday today, Tomorrow will be lazy :rolleyes1 I've got and ACM channel going with all the Halloween movies playing all day!

DH and ds are out spotting some spots out to hopefully fill the freezer again. With the hard frost we got last night, maybe they will see spot some animals.

The family has requested turkey dinner for tomorrow - since we didn't get a full turkey dinner when we were at dd's house for Thanksgiving. So I started thawing the turkey last night - my brine is done and cooling and I'll toss the turkey into the brine and let it soak overnight.

I just cooked up some of those little pie pumpkins. As that's cooling right now, then I'll whip up some pumpkin pies for dessert tomorrow. I used my instant pot to cook the pumpkin up - and now I have some chicken stock going in it! I have been waiting for a weekend at home to get that done. So I'll get that ready to fill some jars and can that for cooking with.

My mom sent us home with a big box of ripe tomatoes. I cut out the bud/tops of them and tossed them into the freezer. I will hopefully get that made into salsa. It's another experiment in the process. If you freeze them first - when they thaw - all the water goes out of them. That way I can control how much water is in the salsa. I like a thicker/chunkier salsa. Again - it's an experiment!!!

I'm waiting for youngest ds to bring home some paper towel...and I'm going to head outside and wash those windows!!!! Then I won't have to worry or think about them.

Don’t laugh, I’m excited about dinner tonight. Bought those preservative free, natural casing ones on the string lol.

Was going to grill them out, it’s pouring. Airfryer will do nicely. Going to make some “poutine” tater tots. Got a bag of that cheese by mistake and looking for ways to use it up.
YUM!!!!!! Airfryer for the win!!! That's why I love and use ours so much
Well, most of the chili has been consumed and B is now washing dishes. I think I will see if there is anything worth watching on TV. We are already behind on season 2 of Loki.
Now I want chili. That might be on the menu tonight!
Going to food shop in the morning as we ran out of leftovers this evening
stood shopping on a saturday always have crowds
We head out early in the morning - to beat the rush of people. I don't like shopping when it's too " peoplely"
Have a load of veg to roast off today then blitz into some soup for the freezer, I think I may need it when I get the implant put in, he said I`ll be a little sore for a couple of days. So, butternut squash, sweet potato, carrots, buttered leeks, onions, red peppers, apple, celery, garlic...lots of garlic, rosemary, a little thyme usual seasonings and some gorgeous chicken stock. All zapped together it`ll taste lush!! Everything we picked up from the farm store on Thursday apart from the herbs, they`re ours.
YUM!!!! I've got my chicken stock brewing in the instant pot right now. I save all my scrappy veggies from prepping - and freeze them until I have enough to fill the pot with chicken bones. Yours sounds delicious!!!! There is nothing like homemade stock. And with grocery prices increasing - I'll keep doing it even more now.
Hi …I enjoy your friendly updates all the time … so thank you!
:welcome:
he holidays coming. Already pencilled in our baking weekend. Even older one said he’ll take off, as want to help with the candy we also do. And little one wants to make seasoned and toasted nuts, so that’s on our list this year.
I wish I lived closer to my family. I would definitely being making sure we did that together. Right now it's just me - unless we go to the city or dd and family come here to visit and we have a bake-athon for a day.

Well. I should run and see if my pumpkin is cool enough to whip into some quick pies. I'm lazy and bought the pre-made crust. I just haven't mastered pie crust yet.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Hope your windows are gleaming now!! Our window cleaner was here on Tuesday, then we had the storm Thursday/Friday so they are filthy now!!! Sent him a txt to ask if he`ll fit us in tomorrow, he usually comes every 2-3 weeks, but they need doing!

I haven`t bought stock for years!! So easy and you won`t get tastier anywhere as for pastry, I can do a good pastry, but I do buy puff pastry as it`s not worth the effort to make one`s own, even chef`s seem to say that too. Once you master it you`ll never buy a ready made pastry again.

I agree, living away from family is tough, that`s where friends become your family, I`d be lost without my friends, we really did become each other family with most of them.

Enjoy your turkey today, one of our favourite dinners, but for us that`s Christmas Day dinner, always look forward to that one! My sister makes an amazing turkey, we all enjoy it a lot. But I do order one from our butcher and pick it up when we come home from Scotland and do it all over again with just us.

Good luck with the salsa!!

Stayed up so late (for us) last night, so slept slightly longer this morning, watched a few very good movies and had the lovely bottle of wine Kyle`s office colleagues sent me. Very nice indeed.

Looks a beautiful day here, no wind and the sky is blue now the sun is there, I think it`s next weekend our clocks go back so it`ll be a little darker in the mornings and of course darker earlier in the evenings. I`m strange as I don`t mind that part.

French toast again this morning with some bacon.

Lazy day for us, some calls and catching up with emails, then might watch the Austin GP tonight. And that`s our Sunday.

Have a lovely Sunday :)

Ah Sunday is here and the trash trucks will be here tomorrow, so last of the trash out by early tomorrow morning. When dash to the curb in the wee hours if want to toss.

And lazy day indeed. With sunny out, and cool. 56 the high. So shades and pants. I bought a light weighted sweat jacket, and thought I got a hole right near the cuff. Oddly the other arm had it too. Hehe, realized for my thumbs to cover my hands. My other sweat jackets don’t have that feature.

And so, was at that big box store last weekend, and told sister of sales of holiday items while there. She told me what she wanted, so going to deliver it to her today. Little one probably wants to come, so I’m guessing a lunchtime arrival.

Thus, breakfast of eggs and bacon for DH and I. Funny, DH said eggs taste better. I have been buying them from the farm store lately. Most likely fresher when I buy them. Plus, even cheaper than the grocery stores. Only issue is we don’t always go to the farm store as not really close to anything.

And this weekend, there’s a Fall celebration in the giant county park near the farm store. If the weather is nice, we may see what’s there. Have to figure out which entrance to use, as that giant sized park is on both sides of a street. If the weather is nice, I assume we will follow the crowds of cars and people. And most likely then we’ll also get to the farm store.

Older one works, so he’ll be gone before little one and I. Tea drinking, hot, as house feels a little cool. And quiet. DH usually plays the tv loud, but think he’s just relaxing. We both got up around when the alarm would go off. It’s set for tomorrow.

Finally, yay at least it’s a Sunday. Hope all have a most enjoyable and restful one, today.

Good Sunday morning everyone :wave2:

It’s so much fun planning a party……we do try over here with Halloween but, it’s not the same as America. But the village party is always fun, I’ll be sorry to miss it this year.
It is fun planning a get together. I have been gathering the things I need to make the dishes for the party so I don‘t have to go out and shop it all at once.

Family pumpkin carving later tonight with late game day vittles. I hope you all had a great time at your pumpkin carving party yesterday evening. I know the food was good. It you have some photos of your pumpkin carvings would love to see some photos.

It must be pumpkin carving party time for sure.

My sister K and brother in law had a pumpkin carving and barbecue at the campground were they keep their RV yesterday evening. They invited family and friends. The weather was beautiful and the food was good. We had a wonderful time carving pumpkins.

They had a pumpkin carving party a few years ago and last week sister said she wanted to do one again. So she couldn‘t have picked a better day.

Here are a few pics of the pumkins.

I'm another person who just doesn't think Will Farrell is remotely funny. I have tried to watch a couple of his films, but no way:)

It's Friday :cheer2:

It's another beautiful fall morning here. The skies are clear and the sun is shinning. It is actually fairly warm here - which kind of surprised me this am. I probably could have kept the window open a little longer during the night last night - but dh hates when I have the window open then hears the furnace kick in . But I will appreciate the amazing day ahead.

I didn't do much last night. I was soooo tired. I even went to Costco and picked up the chicken taco kit and some bagged sweet kale salad for dinner.

My car got her winter boots (tires) on this morning so far and now is getting a new windshield. I told dh I didn't want to push it off again like he tends to do. So my Izzy is getting some TLC that she needs. Next week hopefully we can get her in for a new muffler and one other small fix as well - and she will be purring right along for another winter. Hopefully maybe by next spring - interest rates will be a little lower OR there will be some special inhouse financing going on to buy a new-to-me vehicle.

It sounds like it was a grand celebration!!! My grandma loved bingo too!!! I remember being a little girl - staying with her when mom and dad went somewhere so Grandma took us to Bingo with her.

That is always such a worry!

I think someone has been feeding a couple that frequent our neighborhood. Dh went to shoo one away from the neighbors shrub that she was nibbling on....and dh was actually able to pet her. She was probably last years fawn and must have recently left her momma. I have seen some other posts of this same deer that people are petting her as well. I have a feeling Fish and Wildlife may step in and relocate her before she becomes a nuisance.

I do that same! I have had to get used to sleeping through a dh who doesn't sleep well and is always up and rustling around at night - and watching tv :sad2: I don't get upset - as he has never slept well - but it was something I have had to get used to and learn to sleep through. My rule is - NO HUNTING channel!!! I don't need to hear " whisper whisper whisper - then BANG, BANG " :rolleyes2

Enjoy your day! That sounds like the perfect day to me!!! I was hoping to take a day off today - but when I was going to talk to my manager about it - he was occupied with another employee - and I didn't interrupt that chat.

I hope your day goes splendid.

Well, I should get to shuffling some papers around.

Have a great day everyone!
Hi Pumpkin:
Yes, Mom loved bingo, but can't see well enough to play now. I used to wonder if Bingo was something the older generation did,, but when I took Mom to several places, there were plenty of younger people there too. I guess it's easy to get hooked on, but I never did, even while taking Mom to play.

I know what you are saying about the deer. Our last neighbor used to feed deer each night at a certain time. Just before he came out with the deer food, there were a lot of deer waiting in our woods to get fed. Sometimes he had as many as 24 deer in his yard. We felt that it was a driving hazard because they crossed from his yard to a woods across the street. Thankfully the new neighbors don't feed deer.

People hitting deer in our area of the state is a real problem. The deer population is huge and several deer hit cars all season. Last year, my daughter hit three deer In The Same Spot during the winter. One of the times the deer hit the windshield on the passenger side breaking it. My granddaughter was sitting there and was covered with glass, but did not get cut. My grandson, who is very strong, came and lifted her out over the seat through the drivers side. We live in a National forest area so there is lots of wildlife. We are always on the look out for deer while driving anywhere, even in town!

Supposedly our first light freeze tonight. Guess I should go grab the green tomatoes. Still getting the odd pepper

45 degree temp had me moving a mite faster today on 5k. Still, so slow lol. Naturally, Lil left us in the dust & sprinted off after a block along with her mom

Pizza is gone
Too bad nothiG like a slice of cold the next day for breakfast lol

I know those who put a fried egg atop a slice ummmm no
The family has requested turkey dinner for tomorrow
A fine request. Getting nervous have only seen tiny & doubled in price breasts here thus far

Too much fun, only two of finished theirs thus far. The others too engrossed in hockey. Hopefully, will knock them out today.

I see little boo in that bunch of pumpkins!

Lynne we normally wait till closer to date. Last few years hated to toss them after a day or two on trash day. All the work, might as well enjoy them. I put outside at night. Bring in in evening to watch the fake candle lights flicker

I felt for one of his kids a few weeks ago. Dad commandeered the DJ booth at his fraternity party, spinning hot jams :rolleyes1complete with ball cap worn backwards.

Cringey. No young adult wants their parent at a party with their peers, not even a famous one lol

Fantastic turnout Janet!!! I was wondering how you`d get on and LOVE the fancy dress!!! Is this the last one? Hope tummy is ok.

Oh you lose me at cold pizza Janet.....not for me at all!!! I will now maybe, sometimes if I can be bothered will reheat it, but I cannot eat it cold.....wish I could though. Tom would, but doesn`t as I make faces if he does....poor guy!

Laziest day ever......bit of a mimic of yesterday, cold outside but cosy in the house. Dinner was beautiful, sauce had maybe a little too much honey, but better than too much English mustard.

Now watching Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch, haven`t watched it in a while.......

Just musing a little here.......

Hello everyone. This has been a good lazy weekend. Dh spent lost of yesterday watching football. I kept falling asleep. I just couldn’t seem to stay awake. Today we took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. These pictures don’t do it justice.

Just finished watching Elf movie on tv.

As many times I have watched it, still get sucked in to watch it again.

It’s harmless and cute
I saw that movie for the first time back when I was hospitalized for a kidney stone. I was desperate for some entertainment. I’m not a Will Ferrell fan, but I thought it was a cute movie.

no clue why we get holiday movies so soon in this season?
All the Hallmark channels are running nothing but Christmas movies now. I miss watching the old shows like Murder She Wrote and Psych that they usually show in the afternoons and late night.

Our pay movies had their Christmas channel start first day of July!!! As someone who adores Christmas, that is too early even for me.
I completely agree.

Hi …I enjoy your friendly updates all the time … so thank you!
I always have to mention my favorite forever holiday movie ..
The Man Who Invented Christmas with Dan Stevens as the main character.
Welcome. I have not heard of that movie. I will look it up.

The ones I like that gets me in the spirit are the comic ones I saw as a kid. Frosty, Charlie Brown, and Rudolph.
I have not seen those in ages. I should watch them again sometime, along with A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.

The family has requested turkey dinner for tomorrow - since we didn't get a full turkey dinner when we were at dd's house for Thanksgiving.
I am looking forward to turkey dinner for Thanksgiving next month. Turkey is something I never make at home.

I don't like shopping when it's too " peoplely"
Same here.

Here are a few pics of the pumkins.
Great photos.

Tomorrow we get our driveway repaved and widened. I’m looking forward to having a little extra space.

Come take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway with me.

Come take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway with me.

Beautiful pictures Charade, that is some stunning scenery, it`s so lovely to be able to get out and enjoy the scenery we have around us.

We have two channels that seem to show Murder She Wrote constantly, I love that show so we can normally find it somewhere if we feel like watching it. One channel has it all day Saturday and another has it on between 5 and 7 in the evenings.

Good luck with the driveway today, you`ll be so glad you did it.

Woke up with no clue what day it was today, nudged Tom to remind me and he had to think too!! Guess we both slept well. Happy with the GP result from Austin, but incredibly boring race overall, happy to see the guy we don`t like eventually disqualified!

Still pitch black outside but I think it`s going to be a decent day hopefully before we have some rain the rest of the week. It is colder now though for sure.

Today, some shopping this morning, I think I have a friend dropping in to say hello, will have the kettle on for her she likes a good old chin wag and she is the friend that knows everything going on everywhere it seems!! She is also the friend who is the best baker I know, her cakes are the lightest ever, she has a gift!

Tom has asked for French Toast again this morning, so will make some later, it is so nice though although anything cooked in butter is going to be lovely! Dinner will be pulled pork, I need to try and run the main freezer down, it`s getting there then we can go order our half a cow/lamb and stock it back up for a few months.

Time for tea.....second cup for me of the day.

Hope you have a wonderful Monday :)

Ah Monday it is. Trash cans at the curb ready for dumping out. Tossed last out of the trash in a clear sky and 47 degrees. Glad it’s this morning, instead of tomorrow morning. Saying frost warnings, as coolest night we will have tonight. But warmer days are coming. Yay!

Ah, both DH and I are up, from around 15 minutes before the alarm went off. Already had some tea, and made home fries with eggs. Fast and easy, as DH ate most of the bread last night, and I wanted some more than just eggs.

Ah nothing like being up early for that week day routine start. Monday morning, sigh.

Beautiful pictures Charade. While we have some Fall color trees, still green mostly. DH mowed the grass, though probably for the last time.

Marvelous Monday, and woot! Halloween 🎃 coming next week. Hehe, maybe some will be handing out tacos.

Brrr, Still 40 degrees at 10 am decided to skip the walk today. Went out and ran some errands.

back home dispatched some pesky dust bunnies, easy spot with the sunshine:sunny:

going to cook out the tbonz later that should’ve hit the grill yesterday, wussed out due to the weather

Nice pics charade! we did a portion of skyline drive years ago. There’s slow, then there’s slow, ergo why we just did portion lol. Now that we move slower, should give it another go.

There’s a steam train that makes a run from somewhere a hour or so south of us to virginia for fall foliage viewing on old rail line. Keep wanting to book it as a nice day trip or overnight. need to put note in my calendar. It’s sold out this year, wah.

carole i look forward to borrowing your memes nearly every day lol

Quick hello before I go to bed. Nothing much to report here. We’ve reached that fun time of year when I have to scrape ice off my car windshield in the morning, then in the afternoon I open up the windows in my house.

I fell asleep in the middle of stitching so I guess it’s time to call it a night. Tomorrow is our last Tuesday football game of the year thank goodness. It’s an away game so we will be watching from home.

There’s a steam train that makes a run from somewhere a hour or so south of us to virginia for fall foliage viewing on old rail line. Keep wanting to book it as a nice day trip or overnight. need to put note in my calendar. It’s sold out this year, wah.

carole i look forward to borrowing your memes nearly every day lol

lol..help yourself! I love a good meme!

I think your mister would have loved the train that used to run from Mount Dora to Tavares, it was an old cowboy movie train that was used in several movies like the 3.10 to Yuma. It was very popular apparently. Shame they stopped it, we said we`ll do it next time....then discovered it had closed!!

Yep, it can be an odd time of year. We had a frost for a couple of mornings it was nice and crisp, then we have a damp cold which isn`t so nice. I do love windows open regardless of weather just for a little fresh air. I get into trouble from everyone though who all think I`m throwing money out the window.

A bit rainy and "dreich" to use a Scottish word to describe the day ahead, really just means dull and gloomy, but that sounds about right for the weather today and maybe the rest of the week.

Heading out to get my yearly eye test at the Optician this morning, I don`t pay for that test as my parents both had/have glaucoma and dad had MD so always worth getting checked more often. Of course they ask if you want the enhanced check where you pay for that part.....so they get money out of you in one way or another, don`t mind though I`d rather pay. Hopefully don`t need new glasses, these ones seem ok, I wear them for reading and close up stuff.

Will have a wander round the shops while we`re there, but like many town centres now, there` s not much there, so won`t take us long.

Spicy bbq pork chops tonight will do rosemary and garlic parmentier potatoes again and some cauliflower and carrots. Breakfast is going to be french toast and fruit with coronation chicken on white bread open sandwich for lunch. Food sorted for the day.

Have a wonderful Tuesday

Ah Taco Tuesday is here, time to say, why not a taco to eat today? Ooh maybe I will get to a Taco Bell, not today though, more like a weekend time, as not one that is very close to us, and not enough time at lunch and I don’t think we need anything to go out after screen is off today.

I hear ya, Charade. Did go down to high 30’s, and 40 degrees out now.

And what a beautiful stretch of weather for us. Glorious sunshine will continue all day, said the weather guy. As I get up in that predawn time, it’s still clear and dark out. No sunrise to see for almost another hour. And with that clear sky, temps rises to close to 70 this late afternoon. Warmer weather to be the rest of the week. Yay!

Most Terrific Taco Tuesday today to all.

Super slow day today. I finished all my daily tasks in the first hour I was here. I just finished shredding some paper. Now I need to find something else to occupy my time until 3:00.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Being retired, sometimes I get the days mixed up which is irritating. But I do know today is Tuesday.

Charade, those photos of your drive through the hills are absolutely beautiful! It makes me miss Tennessee. We used to go to Gatlinburg to stay in the fall and loved the drive through their hills:)

Well, Carole, I have to borrow your word "dreich" to describe our dull, rainy, Cold weather. We have a good chance of SNOW this Friday, Ick! I guess there is a big winter storm hitting the Dakotas and Montana and we might get some of that snow too. I know it's almost November, but I hold out as long as I can hoping winter will hold out too:) But with high temps of 30's and lowers in the teens this weekend, I think I need to prepare for reality:(.

Keisha, I loved your photo of your family in their costumes:)
My Mom dressed up one Halloween as the California Raisin and it was hilarious. I hope you can remember the California Raisins???? I guess I'm dating myself!

Lynne: It looks like we are having the same cool weather. Just not ready for it yet. My snow boots and heavy coats are still packed away. I will wait for the last minute to get them out.

Today is a "free" day for me. I have absolutely nothing I have to do. I can ignore the dust bunnies (Keisha) for another day:) So, I decided to work in my sewing room on a quilt for my grandson's graduation. I have one more year to get it ready. I make all the grandkids a strip quilt for graduation. They are fun to make with all the extra strips and fabrics I keep in a big bin. I just pull out some randomly and make strips to fit a 6 1/2 inch square. It's all random and none are alike. I usually back them with fleece.

I made spaghetti last night and always have leftovers, so no cooking tonight!!!
I've also started on a puzzle, which I've really been enjoying over the cold months. Lynne, I see you are doing a Mickey one! That would be fun. I haven't done any disney ones.

Everyone have a good Tuesday:)
