Something About Nothing............ #14

got called away for a phone call, asked DS to take a pic of his bowl before he dove in…he came up with an interesting composition by sitting it on the dog cover thingie on one of my upholstered dining chairs:scratchin

He did do A nice job building it, you get the gist of it LolIMG_1156.jpeg

Now, that looks nice!! I love guacamole, salsa and chicken.

Was a cold one last night, just above freezing, now it`s getting lighter, it looks very cloudy out there, but a day of sunshine is ahead apparently, albeit very windy. Definitely autumnal weather for us now.

Our lovely farmer dropped us off another 30 eggs last night, we still have about 6 left from the last batch, so change of dinner plans for tonight, will make a chicken, bacon and leek quiche for us and will make poached eggs for breakfast. The chickens are slowing down now so won`t have as many for a time, think he`ll have new chickens for the spring after a few months break.

We only plan to go out to drop off the cookies to Kyle`s office and then back home today, plan to do some housework and order some christmas presents, I have a few already sorted but need to get a wiggle on and make sure I`m sorted as I don`t want to come back from our trip and have to start then. Although I do love wandering round the stores when they`re all decorated for Christmas, but not necessarily having to shop.

Slept a little later this morning, one of the joys of autumn and winter, so heading for my first tea of the day now, nothing quite like that first cuppa. Once sleeping beauty is up, we`ll have breakfast.

Happy Tuesday.....

Ooh now at that day of the week to have tacos on the mind. You know, that well, Taco Bell run could be in your future. Or stop at Keisha’s house and hope for some leftovers of that great looking taco inspired plate food.

Ooh another cool and clear overnight and again not seeing 50 degrees yet. Warner today said the weather lady this morning. Well, that can be debatable. High 60 yesterday, high today? 62. And so, yes we will be a little bit warmer today. Shorts, yep.

Most Terrific Taco eating Tuesday.

Morning all. I’ve been up since 5:30 am in the hunt for WDW candlelight processional dinner pkg.

Mr is notoriously picky, limited the choices of food & narrators

Grabbed a couple of options, none ckd off all the boxes. Will let him whittle them down as I keep up the hunt

Makes me appreciate Universal just a bit more every time WDW makes the hurdles higher! Hope they never get to that point

I am mulling over what I’d do with 30 eggs…

Where’s Mac? JK :duck:hope that egger gets his due

Think I need a big cuppa to brighten my :sunny:disposition

Well,, I'm catching up again!

Keisha: I agree that a shot in both shoulders at the same time is Not Good!!! My husband just had that done and his arms were sore for 2 days. He is definitely not the type to complain about anything medical. I haven't had my flu shot yet, but just can't wait, LOL. So glad to see that you were banned too:) I was feeling pretty lonely being banned, LOL.

Also congratulations on your granddaughters published paper! She sounds like a very gifted writer for her age, and it's something to be proud of:)

Schumi: Congratulations to Kyle on his 10 k run. It amazes me that he can continue to run with his leg problems. It will be good that he will get somewhat of a rest this winter.
I also loved the pictures of your cookies, oops biscuits, LOL. They look absolutely yummy!

Well, now you can join the rebel club. I dont' blame you for getting upset in that situation. If it's something to do with my kids, I would do the same thing (and have:)

Charade: It looks like you had a nice trip, and it's always good to get home too.

Lynne: Looks like your Monday started off good, and hope the week is good too:)

I took my Mother to the casino yesterday for her birthday, and she Had A Ball! She is the luckiest person I've ever known, and she always, always wins. We had a lot of fun laughing and eating and I didn't get her home until after 5pm, which is late for her. Tomorrow, on her real birthday, I am making steaks, baked potatoes, homemade bread, and chocolate cake for dessert! The celebration goes on, LOL

Hope everyone has a good week:)

30 eggs gives us plenty of Eggs Royale/poached and a lot of baking.......lol

Hope you can get what you want for the trip and yes a cuppa always helps!!

lol....weirdly, cookies are cookies in this case....I know, we are a confusing set of people!!!

I`m so glad your mum had a blast....my mum is a bingo fiend and is always winning too, I think they`d get on well by the sounds of them!! Sounds like a lovely day together and you still have tomorrow to celebrate with her. We`re all about celebrating for longer on here!!

Thank you....his knee is improving massively thanks to good physio and exercising, he finds it easier to run longer distances without stopping.....don`t know how he does it!! He`ll still be running over the winter just no competitive races, they don`t have marathons in the winter very often lol........

Hope you have a lovely day tomorrow with your mum :)

You are amazing to give your Mom the perfect day for her!

If not for sports betting, I’d come home skunked

We joke the mr uses the slots as an ATM. Wins just enough to pay for dinner. Works for me
my mum is a bingo fiend and is always winning too
Haha paint peeling more exciting. When I get roped into going, always get scolded to watch my cards better.

It takes a special sort of person to fail at bingo:crazy:

He’s such a determined young man!

Some people just have that sort of drive in spades. Then there’s the rest of (most) of us. The GD isn’t afraid of new things & working hard. A good combo

lol.....join the club. On the very few occasions I have gone with her usually when I went up on my own to stay for a time with her, I never won once....not a single penny!! I get bored too, it`s not my thing at all but she loves it. My sister enjoys it and takes her at least once a week, sometimes twice and she can jump on a bus and go on her own if she feels like it. I never thought of it as failing.......lol......but you`re right, it is. I tell you, they`re a competitive bunch...all smiles to each other than grumble under their breath that "she`s always winning" when someone else wins, it`s hilarious to watch.

He certainly is, yes, some kids don`t have that determination it seems and just float along, I honestly get more proud of him every day.

But, yes, your GD is a little star in the making for sure. I`m always impressed by just how many things she is involved in and excels in them too!!!

High winds due late afternoon and tonight, weirdly tomorrow there is a break from that and then bad weather comes back in the early hours of Friday morning and we`ll have 50mph winds most of the day, Saturday now doesn`t look as bad but it`s not going to be pleasant.

Heading out to do some shopping this morning, we don`t need much, just some fresh produce and I need some stamps...can`t believe the price of stamps now!! I think it works out at $1.60 per stamp! Sending Christmas cards this year seems to be something a lot of folks are not doing due to the cost of stamps which is a shame, but I can see why folks are not doing it.

Going to try and get out early this morning before the weather turns, I don`t mind rain or even snow at times, but high winds are so worrying due to damage and so on.

Heard from Kyle the chocolate chip cookies went down an absolute treat!! Always good to hear they`re being enjoyed, should be enough to do them today and tomorrow too.

Enjoying the rest of the quiche for dinner tonight, shrimp in a spicy cocktail sauce with some salad for lunch and unsurprisingly poached eggs for breakfast on toast! Kettle is on for my solo pot of tea, then hit the shower, have breakfast and we should be out before 9am.

Middle of the week again........:)

Ah yes, camel here. Still so dark out in my early commuting day. Hehe, you are almost the same color as the animal that had just walked past by me, as I sped through the green light in the very little borough I go through. I don’t think that was you? Was it? LoL. Looked to my right as I was zipping by. What da heck? Glad those deer passed by me before I came over the hill and zipped past that light.

But yay, to also see that camel in the dark today. Meaning that as we get over this hump of a day, that Friday feeling happiness is then a day away. And will be ever so happy about that Friday feeling next year, when three day commuting. Sigh. And had enough, this week, as need that Friday lazy day, three day weekend. And so, yay, this Friday will be full of lazy happiness, even if rainy, as predicted this morning.

The day when you wear that jacket in the morning, and carry it home. Warmer day, as 49 degrees, yep city always a little warmer than where I am. 65 the high. So will be nice to enjoy that full sunny morning, and partly cloudy afternoon. Shades will be worn on lunchtime walk, and probably on commuting back. Yay for now mid 60’s today. And woot! Tomorrow a degree less than 70. Lots of that Indian Summer weather this October? I would be happy with that.

With that, need to refill my tea mug. At least water from bottle comes out almost steaming hot. So a good morning to all, and hope all have that Most Wonderful Wednesday today.

Good Wednesday afternoon everyone :wave2:

Glad you have your Halloween stuff in place Robbie.......no Halloween for us, we don`t get kids up here, but we do organise a village event which is always lovely. I don`t mean just Tom and I when I said we, most villagers get involved. Won`t be there this year though as I`ll be at the dentist....early evening appointment!!!! eeek!!!
Yep, I have most of the Halloween figured out. Just need to finish settling the menu for Halloween.

That is wonderful that you all and everyone in your community gets together for the local children to celebrate Halloween.

not entirely unexpected, as always had a bit milder reaction to the covid vaxx, fever/chills…akin to mild flu. This time temp was 105 - 104 degrees for almost two full days, doing the Motrin/Tylenol fever break method. The mr was threatening to toss me in car & head to ER if I didn’t start sucking popsicles.
Wow…..that is a high temperature. So glad to hear you are feeling better. That high of a temp is dangerous for sure.

Did rouse myself yesterday to watch the ‘lil read and receive her award & prize for 1st place in essay competition re Willie Thrower (First Throw). The prompt was overcoming adversity and striving for achievement. Will be her first published writing
Congratulations to your granddaughter. What a wonderful accomplishment for her to be published at her age. I know you all are so proud of her.

Our son is a big Chicago Bears fan.

don’t sell yourself short, you have it in spades. Hope you are out of it before the snow flies.
Me too. Walking boot on snow and ice is not a good thing.

Very proud of my son who yesterday took part in a 10 mile run and did it in a much better time than he thought he would! With the injuries he`s had this year he has done brilliantly. He said they all enjoyed it and his group all did well. It was within a marathon so they stayed, had a picnic and watched the rest of the finishers as they all had a picnic together, looked a fantastic atmosphere. It was a gorgeous day but cold in the morning, however by the time lunchtime came around he said it was warmer but the pictures he sent they all had big winter hats on as they sat watching the end of the marathon. Don`t blame them.
Congratulations to Kyle oh his success with his 10 mile run. He has accomplished a lot considering he has been dealing with an injury. Good for him. He is an intelligent, determined young man. Good to hear he has been so successful running.

I was banned from an actual place many years ago, you`ll laugh when I tell you it was a Railway Museum. There is a story of course.......it involved Thomas the Tank Engine, cold weather, long lines for the Thomas Train and a very disappointed group of children who deserved better than they got after waiting two hours!!! Yes, this angry mother made her point....I even got a round of applause and no I wasn`t nasty or shouting but everyone felt the same way.

That is a cute story about the Train Museum. Getting banned from there for sticking up for the littles ones is a good thing. Sometimes when they set up those events they don‘t think through the logistics. Keeping the little ones out side in cold weather is not good. Good for you.

He did do A nice job building it, you get the gist of it Lol
Your son did a nice job of building chicken bowl. Looks good.

Happy 96th birthday to your mom Ruth. Sounds like your mom had a fun time on her birthday trip to the casino with you.

Not much going on here. Cooler weather is still here for a couple more days then warm for a couple of days.

Found out the donut bakery that I usually order the Halloween cakes for my party every year no longer make them. So looking to see if I can find somewhere else to get them.

I have ordered another skull baking pan for skull pizzas. Going to try and tweak that recipe a little. Everyone liked those last year, but I did not like the pizza crust so well. Going to try crescent dough. Will see if that works. Might be too fragile.

Have a few phone calls to make.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

Good Wednesday afternoon everyone :wave2:

Thanks Robbie, yes, he has done amazingly well considering the injury, so proud of him.

Yes, I did earn my rebel badge that day and yes, I’m still proud of it! Couldn’t believe how badly organised the whole event was.

It’s so much fun planning a party……we do try over here with Halloween but, it’s not the same as America. But the village party is always fun, I’ll be sorry to miss it this year.

Well, after my email address disappearing a couple of weeks ago, now DH’s from that account has vanished too!!! Goodness knows why. So he‘s setting up a new account tonight, it’s such a carry on letting everyone know.

Quiet night here, not as windy as forecast which we’re grateful for. Tomorrow looks ok only 20mph winds most of the day. Actually take it back, the wind has just whipped up around us now.

Bedtime soon for us.

Well, that was a wild and woolly night after all. Woke up around 2am with heavy rain lashing against the windows and wind had really whipped up. Not as bad this morning but into Friday is now up to 60mph winds and we`ve been issued with a red weather warning for then. It`s not looking good and worse than predicted. Should be gone by Saturday morning, Kyle wil be glad as he doesn`t like to miss the Saturday running.

I did get back to sleep though very quickly and ready to start the day, a bit of shopping this morning and supposed to be getting a parcel delivered today so hope to be back in by then.

Tom has asked for Swedish style meatballs tonight, no problem. Will do home made chunky chips and make a creamy pepper sauce, roast carrots and a dollop of cranberry sauce. We don`t have an IKEA near us so making my own version of their popular dish works fine and mine is nicer...or so I`m told!!

And woke up to an email from someone I did wonder if they had seen my new email address, I sent off another one yesterday and yes, he had missed the initial email I`d sent and had written me two emails to the old address and wondered why I hadn`t replied......oops!!

Quick breakfast of toast I think and then get out, stores around 9am are always fairly quiet, much better to shop in with no crowds.

Thursday already........the weeks are flying past!

I'm Baaaaaaaaack lol Did you miss me  JK ...but we are finally back home and settled back into our routine.

Traveling for a funeral is never fun - but it was her time to leave. She was 92 and lived a very full - but hard life. She was my "tough old cookie" as I called her because whatever life threw at her- she was able to rise above it. She buried too many family members ( husband, 4 -children, 3- grandchildren and 1-great grandchild)

It was a little get away - where we got to visit with family we don't normally see. We got to spend some time with both sides ( mine and dh's) . There were no guilt trips because we were spending more time with one side of the family vs the other - which has made us NOT travel there more often the past 10 years.

It is a beautiful fall day here today. I will take allllllllllllllllll the beautiful fall days we get yet. The forecast has changed to just cold next week. It was calling for that nasty white "s" word to fall - but for now it's just supposed to get cold. I'm hoping to get my windows cleaned over the weekend. I've been saying this for months now :guilty: and I never get it done! The insides are clean - I just need to clean the outsides of them. Hopefully this weekend I can muster up the energy to do it!

Not much else to report on in my little part of the world. We got to enjoy time with the GD too in our travels for the funeral. She is the first and only great great grandchild - and we will cherish the picture we took last summer when we visited Grandma. We did get a 5 generation picture! It has been in the rotation on our digital picture frame.

Well, I should run and shuffle the few papers I need to.

Have a great day everyone! I also have some reading to catch up on.

ruth - Going to shave off 4 trips around the Sun for your Mom as she still sounds quite spry, Happy 96th BD! Hope she continues to have a winning hand!

Sounds like a life well-lived to me, you take the hand you’re dealt and make the best of it.

Shaved a few seconds off my mile time this morning. doubtful I’ll ever reach that 15 min mark I need just walking. Will keep on keeping on🐢

Glad the trip was a success, despite the occasion. Spending time with everyone when visiting from a long way can be tricky, I know we don`t get to see everyone we`d like when we go up to Scotland, but most understand.

Seeing your little GD would have been lovely too and you have an amazing picture to cherish with the 5 generations.

I too put off doing windows, our window cleaner does the outsides, I`m trying to convince him they need to do insides too, we have a LOT of windows, I do them....but I procrastinate a lot too!!

Ghosts right enough!!! He has a new email account now, but again, getting round everyone to change it takes so much darn time! Annoying thing is it`s still there but not there at the same time!!

I remembered a few folks and businesses today I haven`t changed with yet, have to get that changed tomorrow! In saying that, I do like my new email format but my sister sent me a txt today asking why I hadn`t answered the email she sent me on Tuesday....yep, she sent it to the old one, it happens!

Heavy downpour earlier, right now it`s like the calm before the storm, wind strengths have gone back down to 50mph now though.

Meatballs turned out nice enough, pepper sauce was gorgeous though, we could both have eaten double the amount I made, very peppery. I baked some gingerbread this afternoon so had that with some tea afterwards, very sticky but nice with butter.

Watching something spooky on Netflix tonight, forget what it`s called but looks good. Then hopefully we`ll get a good nights sleep and the wind won`t keep us awake.

Fancy a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows before the show starts.....diet version of course :rolleyes1

Hello everyone. Time has gotten away from me this week, so I will do a quick catch up.

Cannot stress it enough, I’d never get both at same time again. Too much, I was flat on back the next day. rarely, do I have absolutely zero appetite. I’m an admitted stress eater

not entirely unexpected, as always had a bit milder reaction to the covid vaxx, fever/chills…akin to mild flu. Okay. I definitely won't be getting 2 shots at once. That's a scary temperature. Glad you are back to normal now.

Did rouse myself yesterday to watch the ‘lil read and receive her award & prize for 1st place in essay competition re Willie Thrower (First Throw). The prompt was overcoming adversity and striving for achievement. Will be her first published writing

That is too funny. I guess they weren't expecting someone to go into mama bear mode.

Glad to hear had a great trip, Charade, and mostly nice weather. Kids have said they may want to do a long weekend visiting the museums. Older one is a history fan, and both enjoy museums. Little one still talks about her enjoyment of the News Museum, which has now been closed for some time, since we were there.
I would love to visit the news museum. I have heard good things about it. I also wanted to visit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, but they still haven't opened up to public tours.

This made about 60 large cookies.
They look good.

This was my first year to receive “the senior version”
There's a senior version?

got called away for a phone call, asked DS to take a pic of his bowl before he dove in…he came up with an interesting composition by sitting it on the dog cover thingie on one of my upholstered dining chairs:scratchin

He did do A nice job building it, you get the gist of it Lol
That looks really good.

Our lovely farmer dropped us off another 30 eggs last night,
I don't think my family has eaten 30 eggs all year. We don't make many meals that call for eggs. I should do some baking when winter hits.

I took my Mother to the casino yesterday for her birthday, and she Had A Ball!
Happy belated birthday to her.

Tom has asked for Swedish style meatballs tonight, no problem.
Yum! Unfortunately I am the only one in the family that really likes them.

It was a little get away - where we got to visit with family we don't normally see. We got to spend some time with both sides ( mine and dh's) .
Welcome back. Nice that you got to spend some time with family. I just wish it was for a happier reason.

We've had a few interesting things this week. Tuesday night was another football game. Our team won again. We are now 7-0. On the way home from the game we were driving on a dark, curvy road. Dh came around one curve and there was a deer in the middle of the road. He slammed on his breaks and she trotted off. We came close, but thankfully did not hit her.

The other interesting news is that we might be changing internet companies. Our neighborhood is in the process of getting fiber optic lines. This might finally convince dh to give up cable.

I am going to go sit and stitch. I am currently working on a dragon that I am giving to B.

Glad you guys were safe, Charade, as rutting season for the deer, so they are out and about more.

Pumpkin, glad to see your post, and nice to be with family, even if not for a happier reason.

Hair salon visiting time. Yay for some pampering now.

Watching something spooky on Netflix tonight
We started a new series adaptation of Poe’s fall of the house of usher. Ravens included

Family depiction vaguely reminds me of succession (which I loved).

Anyone watching this season of AHS? Not a Kim K fan. Gotta admit, she’s slaying it. Pun intended

Okay. I definitely won't be getting 2 shots at once.
IDK many told me they’ve been fine & dandy. I just get a fever after most inoculations Told it’s a good thing, supposedly shows it’s taking hold.
