Something About Nothing............ #14

Quick good morning. We are on our way to DC for fall break. This is a make up trip for one that we had planned for March 2020.

Have a lovely trip Charade, hope you have a fun time!

Dentist went well, have a temporary thingy in till I get the new implant, very odd, but I’ll get used to it.

Gorgeous day, too nice to stay in, so we’re heading out a walk, it’s cold but very sunny!!

dead as a door knob here today so let me entertain you of my unusual evening last night, which by the way lasted until 2 am in the morning.

We live in a very peaceful gated community.
Never any action happens here.

At the time our local news started to come on at 11:00 pm

Never did get to see after the news started as we heard a boom around 11:15.

Some unknown teen who does not live in our hoa, bombed our glass front door with eggs.

Well…lost interest in tv when that started…

Mr Mac ran out outside trying to catch the kid with no luck.

He called the police so Mr Mac started to clean our glass door, steps, and stone walkway.

PoPo arrives, two squad cars and teen could not be found.

Police leave 20 minutes later.

Front door egg mess cleaned up now and walk was hosed down.

30 minutes later, teen back and has a near carton of eggs.
(repeat and rinse again)

Call cops again and this time it’s four squad cars to our house.

Ok now Mr Mac is again outside cleaning the egg mess on our glass door.
Yes, used speed dial for the po po again.

Now the third time his idiot teen came back he had more eggs…

Mr Mac chased him down and got a good look at him but he jumped our fence and the pursuit was off.

This last time it was 4 squad cars that came when we called.

Police never could find them but they told us to call if the kid returns.

left all house lights on at 2 am this morning but egg boy did not return.

Been in this house 7 years and always been a quiet neighborhood.

Of course since we did not get to sleep into much later, cats had fits they were not fed in the morning.

We totally ignored the cats and were way past their breakfast time.

Need to send Mr Mac to Walmart for couple of cartons of eggs later today.
Missed not having my egg breakfast this morning.

Isn’t that kid too early for what we call mischief night, Mac? Around here, it’s toilet paper on lawns. I hope they catch that kid. Give Mr.Mac a hug, as was nice of him to do those late night clean ups. Wonder if other houses were hit in your neighborhood. Guess that kid had nothing better to do.

Ah, so glad time for me to relax. Thinking dinner? Maybe Chinese. Feeling like eating it. We tend to order on the weekend nights, but seems like a good meal for tonight. Little one made breakfast for lunch, with toast, bacon and sunny side up eggs. Was delicious. Had bought thick sliced bacon from the butcher the other day. Yum. Added cheese to my egg, as not a huge fan of sunny side eggs, rather have scrambled.

And thank goodness:

Woot!

Hey all! Finally settled back in the groove. A really lovely trip. Lucked out the slowest HHN wait times of the year for the fam :)

got double vaxxed today, covid booster and flu. CVS was packed with others waiting their turn. They wound up needing more of appropriate flu vax for me, asked me to shop a bit and they’d have a vial sent over from nearby locations.

always happy to oblige as it‘s in a Target :)

Did finally get to the local Hash House a Go-Go on the way to airport coming home. Haven’t been to one in over a decade. There may have been an over-the-top Bloody Mary:rolleyes1

Chicken and waffles are not a thing here, their’s are very good. The mr & I split, he claimed the bacon & had a small salad too

several have asked me about Pittsburgh, I’ve tried to explain that the downtown area (golden triangle) is tiny. The ‘lil snapped a pic on way back. Lots of green spaces even in the city limits, proper. It’s more about the entire county as a whole for our area. Lots of small towns who prefer to keep their own identity. We live in the very far burbs before farmland starts.

Robbie - hoping the leg is feeling just a bit better now for you

charade - we live no more than six hours away from DC, every year we plan and trip & every year it winds up getting cancelled for one reason or another. Haven’t been there since I was a kid. Really want to spend some time at the Smithsonian museums.
My mother's 96th birthday is next week and she wants to go gambling for her BD! Gotta love her:) So, I will take her to a local casino that she likes. I feel that as long as she can do what she wants, she should do it.
Hooray for your Mom! My sorta gal.
Not the prettiest place to look at, little bit of a hole in the wall, but my goodness, it was amazing. We both said we`d travel the distance to go there again, so friendly and welcoming.
Aren’t they usually the best?
Dh's grandma passed away over the weekend. So we are heading out for her funeral and then will get to spend some time with my family and dh's brother and his family. WE knew it was coming. She lived a very full 93 years. She had a harder life than others - but always rose above what life threw at her. We are just glad she is now reunited with the few precious others who left before her.
Oh, that’s sad, sorry to hear. Hope you and the family can share some happy memories.
The Universal site doesn't list the dates of the parade, light show, etc, but I would imagine that at that time of year they will have something for the holidays?
Seems a bit behind this year, same with sea world.
Ooh little one wants an early December trip. Sigh. Have to see if I really want to take another trip this year. Maybe will take a peak at prices.
I like the way she thinks lol.
Some unknown teen who does not live in our hoa, bombed our glass front door with eggs.
Odd to be singled out. At least they caught that stinker that, if a teen, surely old enough to know better. Would be lovely if they’d dole out community service to him, something where he has to get his own hands dirty cleaning up after others.

I`m always here mac....trying for it not be dead as a doorknob!!

And it was only your home that was targetted??? How very odd, yes your area has always been so quiet and peaceful, odd indeed.

Hopefully you`ll both sleep better tonight!!

Love your pictures!!! Especially the one of the four of you, and yes, I do like that dress!!! But, goodness me, you didn`t half get a lot of steps in!!

Glad your night was good, I wonder if that was the same night Matt and Rob were there as they had no waits with EP for them. Yes, your GD face really does say it all!

Good to have you back though!

It`s officially cold.

Heating is set to come on around 5.45am and go off around 10.30....thermostat will click on and off as needs be throughout the day, we won`t be cold.

Today was lovely, but the chill has arrived for sure, gorgeous in the sunshine though, but scarves are being brought out of retirement now, my neck gets chilly easily. Our walk was lovely, we only went up into the woods behind us but very nice hour or so.

It`s been a nice little night, got a call to say the event in the village went well and they used all of the baking that was donated by a few of us ladies, glad to hear everyone`s baking was enjoyed. Next week I promised I`d bake something for Kyle`s offices. I usually do my shortbread but going to make some Bailey`s chocolate cookies, very squidgy and gooey!

Early night for us I think, not quite yet, but soon.

Yay pictures from Keisha. Yeah, Pitt is small compared to Phila. Little one got into Pitt and Temple, and Penn St. Main. DH said no to Penn St, and then did a tour of Pitt, but it was a little one no, as little one wanted a big city, big school. And so, we have a Temple grad.

Chinese was good, as even made some coffee, was hot for DH and iced for little one and I. Some food leftover for older one, when he gets home in another hour and some. No coffee leftover though. No matter, he rarely drinks coffee.

Nice to have leftovers, Mac. I get later evening clean up patrol from older one. So we rarely have leftovers. Hehe, always like that Chewey commercial, so your cats need to smile when you opened the box. LOL

Wow, what a crazy night. I think I would have been tempted to hide in the bushes with a garden house.

How was it getting both together? I’m concerned about how much my arm will hurt.

We are 4 hours away. We went to DC with the Girl Scouts back in 2012. I think we may have been once since then but can’t remember.

Today we went to the National Cathedral.

I have never been there before. I took so many pictures of stained glass windows. Here are 2 of my favorite.

Tomorrow we will go to a couple of museums. B and dh want to go up into the Washington Monument, but you need tickets for that and they are difficult to get.

My Chewey cat food order has now been delivered.
Now need to wait if it’s the brand that they will snub or eat.

Sometimes they get fussy on what they will eat.

Fixed a lovely meal for us and tomorrow it can be leftovers for dinner.

Hope the cats enjoyed the food and hope last night was a quiet one with no flying eggs!!

Looks lovely Charade, hope they get tickets for inside the monument, that would be quite impressive.

Woke up to rain this morning, supposed to be on most of the day with a little respite around lunchtime, but 45mph wind this morning....yuk!! Don`t think we have any plans to go out this morning although we need honey which is an odd thing to run out of for us. I use it for honey mustard dressings/sauces but Tom loves it anyway! Not for me on it`s own, the farmer sells jars every so often as we have a few local places that make it so we get it from him if he has it.

Doing a chicken casserole in the slow cooker today but making a cranberry gravy with rosemary for a change, will add celery, red peppers, carrots, mushrooms and onions and thicken it up later, it`ll be gorgeous!! Will roast a few mini roast potatoes later to go with it.

Lunch will be chicken noodle soup and breakfast is cherry and vanilla muffins, they are huge so one will be enough with some fruit, on my second cup of tea, should have had a mug.

But, Friday......gotta still love that Friday feeling.....whatever the weather!

Thanks for sharing those pictures
They look so nice!

It looks very interesting!

Mac: I just read about your troubling night with the deliquent egg thrower! What an idiot to keep coming back to your house and why? Maybe it was a tik tok thing??? They do really stupid things, and sometimes dangerous things, on tik tok. I wish they would ban the whole site!
Hope you are having a better time now after that craziness.

Hope the headache clears Robbie, they can make us really miserable at times and sleep is sometimes the answer. I`m with you, we love a lazy day or two bimbling around the house not doing much of anything, it`s good for you.

FB is not for me, I did have a look and was quite amazed at what folks reveal on there, I saw one woman show every picture of her home in a before and after picture run.....nothing like enticing burglars!! Never mind nosey folks. But, so far my friend has been amazed at who is FB friends with who.....lol.....she is educating us all and informing us of she has "found". Told her she has too much spare time.

Glad the little one`s party went well, parties we da

Well, Carole, my computer just jumped in and erased all my brilliant comments, and messed with some of yours????

So, I will start over again.

I don't know why some stores are closing. It's happening all over. Our mall as at least half of their stores gone! We had a big nice department store that everyone loved. You could count on buying quality items there and it was always busy. I don't know why it closed??? There's a rumor that the mall owner raised prices sky high, so there's that, but I sure do miss a lot of those shops.

I had to laugh when you said that you made a hair appointment for Wednesday am. I had one already scheduled on Wednesday at 9am!!! so weird. They say that brilliant minds think alike, LOL.

I see you are getting some of our cold weather now! I am sitting here typing on my laptop with fingerless gloves on! Yep I'm that cold. We finally finished up our yard work for the winter and are all set for the snow:(

I hope your dental situation gets better soon with the new implants.
About facebook? I got kicked off of it for a while, but am back on. I will email you the WHY, LOLOLOL

take care,
ruth

Fabulous Friday feeling. Lunchtime walk was beautiful as so sunny and bright. Saying clouds will be arriving later in the afternoon. Yeah, setting it up for a rainy Saturday. At least high is 65 degrees. Shorts still on.

Hehe, anything past 60 usually gets shorts. Though with the in the 50’s high degrees this weekend, yeah pants will be worn and shorts put away.

Fabulous Friday to all and hope all have a most Wonderful Weekend.

Weirdly, very weirdly............when I was reading your post my screen started bouncing up and down👻:scared1:

To be fair I think my mouse is having a moment or two......don`t think it`s the laptop.

Yes, Malls seem to be losing all the big shops, for us they`re heading to out of town outlet centres, for most folks we now get a lot online, sad but true. And I know for some places the rents are just too high in either town centres or large malls. It`s very sad to see their decline, that place used to be a whole day out but you can do it in less than an hour now. Some decent lunch places but mostly chains.

lol....yes, coincidences happen for sure :rolleyes1.......hope you`re happy with your hair!! Yes, brilliant minds!

Oh now I`m going to be watching for new emails......lol...I cannot wait to hear that FB story!!!!

No!! That`s far too cold Ruth, too early for snow anywhere. I got into trouble from one of the ladies in the farm store the other day when I said our heating was on now....she said we must be made of money and have money to burn putting on the heating so early! I told her its bloomin cold!!! Sorry, won`t be cold, don`t care how much it costs...I got the stink eye to steal a phrase from Janet and she told me to put a sweater on and thick socks......lol......god love her.

I have an image of you sitting gazing out of the window waiting for snow now.....❄️

Feeling very full after a beautiful casserole. I forgot Tom had asked for mashed potatoes, but remembered in time, so we did have gorgeous smooth and creamy potatoes, used my large ricer which makes them even better. Added some red wine to the casserole about two hours before it was ready, and it was beautiful. Very tender chicken is very suitable for me right now.

Baked some madeira cake today, similar to pound cake, so going to have that with a large pot of tea soon, then later will have some store bought salted caramel ice cream, I do like this brand, local business so we do like to buy it when we see it.

Going to watch a Netflix movie tonight, there are some decent ones on there, but you have to search. Too many with Adam Sandler and Melissa McCarthy who are not funny. Well she was funny in Mike & Molly and he was funny in the Zohan movie, that`s it.

My lovely husband is wandering over with my tea and cake......been watching him make it as I sit and type away......he does make good tea and butters a nice slice of cake!

After reading schumi’s dinner menu, sending Mr Mac to the bbq place down the street for dinner

Dinner decision has now been made.

Hi everyone. I am thoroughly exhausted. Today we started our day at Ford’sTheater. I had never been there before. The park ranger that did the presentation was very entertaining. It seems weird to have park rangers in a theater, but it’s part of our national park system.

We also went to the spy museum but I was too tired to take any pictures. The museum was fun, but I would have enjoyed it more if we hadn’t spent 40 minutes walking to it only to discover Siri was giving incorrect directions. We had to turn around and walk back a half mile to get to the turn we missed. It also didn’t help that we were walking into the sun. By the time we got there I was hot, tired, and dehydrated.

It’s only 9:00 but I think I will call it a night. Dh is already snoring.

Nice pictures, very interesting place to visit. Hope you had a good sleep though, being dehydrated is never good.

I woke up to about 20 txts and several emails unopened this morning....but a couple of nights a week Tom and I have a "no devices" night from around 8pm usually. We like it but some of my friends are like......wth....where are you.....lol......er enjoying a couple of movies with my husband without distractions....I`ll catch up today with them all.

Beautiful morning here, very chilly I think out there but the sun is shining and looks gorgeous, there is film of dew on the grass and trees which looks so pretty and sun will be out all day I think, but only around low 50`s.

Making a mushroom omelette for us to share this morning for breakfast, grilled sandwiches for lunch and making a lasagne for dinner tonight, made the meat sauce yesterday and will make the cheese sauce for the top just before I bung it in the oven to cook. Tom asked for garlic bread and salad to go with it, so will bake some bread today for that. I`m not fond of that buttery oozy garlic bread, so will bake a small rosemary and onion one for me.

Not sure of any plans for today, will see what the day brings us. But, more tea before anything else!

Have a lovely Saturday

I do think lazy days do us the world of good, easier when we`re retired of course......lol.....I agree, I think the weather can affect our health, here if it`s humid we are all a little headachy as we`re not used to it.
Yes, they do. Being retired is a blessing. I keep thinking I don’t know how I did everything I did when I was working.

Our weather has been back and forth for the past few days. It does mess with the sinuses.

I can see why FB would be handy for information to do with things like the parks and so on and for many other things.....I am loving how amused my friend is with it though, she sent a group of us a link to watch cute kittens doing funny things!!
It has its purposes. It seems certain ladies in our family do use it as a way to share recipes they have tried which is nice.

Thank you, yes, he`s back to normal and I did have a nice visit to the salon this morning and hope you have a lovely time with the little guy today!!
Glad to hear he is doing better.

I was lucky enough to get squeezed in to get my nails done before heading out of town. I had an appointment for Friday evening, they were great and moved it to yesterday. Then I have a hair appointment next Friday - and boy do I need it! I've pushed it off allll summer. It's wayyyyy too long. I will need a good 3 - 4 inches taken off - and a good color refresh again! I am very lucky that my hair and nails grow extremely fast! It's both a blessing and a curse!
It is always so wonderful to get your hair and nails done.

It looks like dd and gd are going to meet us and drive with us. They are leaving earlier than us - but we will help her travel with gd. Gd is the first and only Great Great Grandchild so far in Grandma's linage! We are lucky we got one picture last summer with Grandma with dh, dd and gd with Grandma! It's actually on our electronic photo frame where we download all our favorite photos.
I’am sure your daughter will be happy to have grandma and grandpa with her to help her with your gd. That photo will be a treasure to show your gd when she is older.

Now the third time his idiot teen came back he had more eggs…
What a horrible thing for someone to do to you all. Shocking that he would come back 3 times. I think if the teen who did this was pelted with a few eggs he might not be so inclined to it again.

I have a feeling that dumbo 3 times might be stupid enough to come back. If so give him a good egg bath.

The smiles say it all :cloud9:
That is a nice photo of your son and granddaughter. So good to hear that you all had a wonderful time and they enjoyed their first HHN.

12+ miles later, stick a fork in me, I was done
WOW….I keep saying you are the energizer bunny. I don’t know how you do it. Nice photo of you all together.

Chicken and waffles are not a thing here, their’s are very good. The mr & I split, he claimed the bacon & had a small salad too
Now that’s a plate of chicken and waffles. Looks good.

Robbie - hoping the leg is feeling just a bit better now for you
The foot is coming along, but not as fast as I would like. I’am working on the patience is a virtue thing.

Today we went to the National Cathedral.
Nice pictures.

Later we took a water taxi trip down the Potomac. We had dinner at a restaurant on the wharf and then stopped at this cute place for s’mores.
Sounds like you all are having a wonderful time. Yes, is a lot of walking to be done around there to see things.

Hubby and I went many moons ago.

That is a cute little Trailer selling s‘mores.

Ruth I had to chuckle a little when you said you were kicked off of Facebook. I don’t know that much about it honestly, but I can’t see you doing anything that would have got your kicked off…..LOL….You are quite the rebel.

The cool down with the weather has started here again. It was 78 yesterday and is going to be 65 today. Not complaining I will take that.

It is cloudy and gloomy out. Perfect Halloween weather. I have my trees and Pumpkins on.

Went out and bought the candy bars for Trick or Treating the other day when I was watching little J. He is my shopping buddy. We went to Sam’s. He helped me pick out the boxes of candy bars.

I have heard a lot of people saying they are not going to be giving out candy do to the high cost. I think some of the food producers are taking advantage of situation honestly and super inflating their prices. Light will be on at my house and The littles will still get the full size bars from us as always.

I have my Halloween party every Halloween for our family. I need to get to work on what I’am having for the party, Its 2 1/2 weeks away. Everyone likes to open the door and give candy Bars out to the littles that ring the doorbell.

We have a lot of churches and organizations that do a Trunk or Treat events in their parking lots. During these events folks back their decorated cars in and open their decorated trunks and give candy to the littles. This has become fairly popular here too, It is a nice way for the littles to not have to walk the distance between houses and the parking lots are well lit and safe. Nice that the littles have so many options.

Need to get scootin this morning.

Shout our to Tink, Monyk, Patty, Sue, Lori, bobbie68, and many more Sans family who are not visiting much here anymore. You are missed

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.
