Something About Nothing............ #14

Disney single.
It will be the other way we will be seeing our kids as I don’t drive that far from my home.
They will need to drive to our place and bring the kids

We will entertain them and feed them for whatever they want.
I don’t do any 5 hour drives anymore
just not one for long car rides

Quick post before bedtime. My office will be open tomorrow, so I need sleep to deal with all the cancellations we will be getting. We will possibly get a little snow overnight and then it should start snowing again sometime tomorrow afternoon. I went to the grocery today and there was still plenty of milk, bread, and eggs, so I’m guessing this will be a mild storm.

Congratulations. Hope you had a wonderful weekend with your new grandson.

Thanks. I should have Alaska finished soon.

Happy belated birthday to Kyle.

Smart move. It’s crazy some of the conditions they are expected to play in.

I’m annoyed with Peacock right now. I have the app for the free service, but not the paid. One of my favorite shows used to be available for free, but now they have moved it to the premium service.

What an awesome thing to do.

I have a friend who refers to Disney as a people trap built by a mouse. Every time I think we will take a long Disney break they add something new that we want to see.

2 am? Nope! We are willing to drive a few hours to a different airport if the price is right, but any one over an hour away means an overnight stay.

If you can figure that out you will be a billionaire.

Good night all.

Thank you, he did have a lovely birthday weekend!

I think you and Ruth could sit together for hours doing your crafts, it is very clever to be able to do such things, quilting and stitching....I missed those gifts!!! Look forward to seeing Alaska.

Yes, always an overnight for us the night before a flight, we usually have to check in early with it being international, so the worry of something happening on the roads would stress us too much, so an overnight is perfect for us. And it`s a nice way to start the trip too.

We have a real feel of -7 this morning and it is blooming cold in any temp!!!!

Slept late as we had no rush to get up today, we could hear the strong winds make the sea swell and roar, so we stayed snuggled up for the longest time, then a nice bacon on toast breakfast and opened some tea I got for Christmas, nice but wouldn`t buy it for ourselves, finished the pot off though.

Popped out to get some fresh produce, dropped into the new farm we get the fresh eggs from and their honesty box had frozen shut!!! So we walked over to the farm itself to pay, we must have looked frozen as she asked if we wanted a cuppa after admonishing us for wasting time paying her, she said we could have paid next time, nope wouldn`t have felt comfortable taking the eggs and not paying.

Got our veg in the farmstore that`s recently opened up beside a garden centre, those guys in the garden centre looked frozen to the core, glad it`s not me!! But, the veg was nice and very good quality.

Lunch is chicken noodle soup I made yesterday, bought a cheese and onion bread to go with it and tonight a turkey dinner, last of the stuff we froze, we do like to eat it within the month, I think Kyle is coming over for dinner so he`ll enjoy that too, he`ll be enjoying his extra day off work for his birthday.

Tom is brewing some tea for us right now, that`ll keep us till lunchtime, not sure if a friend is popping in for some lunch, if she appears we have plenty for her.

But, another Monday upon us........have a good one.....:)

731C5CDE-2E81-4CD3-B9F1-3FF3F7AE9E6B.jpegnot, still Was a real slap in the face this morning, light winds or not. Brrrrrrrrr a week of this for us.

We have most of the streaming services, mr enjoys. I didn’t pick up Apple TV after my 1 year freebie stopped. They were giving that with a purchase of iPad/phone starting a few years ago

Most streaming services pricing is in area of a fast food run or included with other services we already pay.

I pointed a few people to xfinity who were not happy re the football coverage situation. If a legacy xfinity customer, peacock+ is offered free. WM+ gives paramount etc. I’m sure there are more options out there. Might be worth looking for a free trial

It's - 40 something F again this morning here.

We live in one of the few places in the world where you can experience -50F and +90F in a 6 months time frame. 😁

It's supposed to warm up all the way to -2C/28F by the middle of next week. Crazy!!

lol....

We didn`t keep Apple TV after the freebie year stopped, I think I watched two things the entire time! Not worth it for us, but agree most streaming services are a bargain. We do watch Netflix and we have a couple of others that I probably don`t watch enough, but never seem to watch that much tv anyway.

In saying that we do have all the movies and sports channels that we barely watch but never get rid of them for some reason. When F1 starts up we watch that more than anything else. Tom isn`t a football fan at all and I loathe it, and it seems to be permanently on somewhere!!!

Stay warm!!!

Heck, I cannot imagine those kinds of temps. The worst winter I remember many years back we went down to -25C for many days, I almost emigrated!!!! We had moved back to England from a much warmer clime so it was doubly hard.

But, that is extreme. Youse would definitely need two kinds of wardrobes for sure at least!!

We`re up to a real feel of -4, but colder to come tonight and tomorrow and maybe snow on Wednesday, doubt we`ll get it being right by the water, but anywhere we drive to will be snowy.

Had such a lazy afternoon, my friend Felicity did drop in for lunch and we had a good old natter.....she reads on here but hasn`t joined yet....not sure she should actually!!! Then Tom and I went through and watched a movie, old black and white one and the heating has never gone off the whole day, so it`s very cosy all the same.

Did some Trip Report too, don`t want to still be trying to finish it in May, so trying to power through and get it done, but it takes some time I know.

Afternoon pot of tea time, cherry scones with butter to go with it, dinner isn`t till later tonight so a nice little snack goes down well this time of day.

🫖🍪

Quick lunchtime hello. It has started snowing here but not very heavily. We probably won’t get much accumulation.

Dh messaged me today and said our contractor had a cancellation so he will be able to start our closet under the stairs (I’m calling it the Harry Potter closet) later this week. Dh is almost obsessive about getting this closet done.

I had free Apple TV for a year after I bought my iPad. I don’t think I watched anything on it. That reminds me, there is another service I need to cancel today. We are switching from cable to streaming and the plan I am canceling is included with the new plan.

Watching the weather channel and glad I don’t live in the areas that are being hit hard weather wise.

Temperature is down some but no issue or horrific issues.
Snow showers today but in the low to mid 30’s for now.

No inkling if and when temperatures will change.

hope all the homies hit by the present weather where they live are ok.

Love the meme! It seems to me that you do a lot of wonderful things, instead of crafts. You both volunteer a lot and that's a great thing to do. We need volunteers in our town, but there are never enough. All of the volunteering means much more than a few crafts, IMO. I wish I was able to volunteer, but can't anymore.
So, are you ready for a stupid question????
You always mention fixing a pot of tea, and I wonder How you do that? Over here, most of us just heat up water and pop a tea bag in for a little while and add honey or sugar. Do you do loose leaf tea or? Just wondering. It probably sounds silly to you, but I imagine we don't even begin to do it right:)

Keisha: Good luck for your Steelers tonight. I will be watching too. I watched the Lions and Dallas last night and am so glad that the Lions won. They haven't had a winning season in about 20 years or so. I like to see the underdog win at times:) Fingers crossed for the Steelers.

Finally getting to do a quick stop in!!!

LIke @saskdw It's :cold:🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶:cold: here!!! I worked Thursday & Friday at homecare - then stayed inside alllllllllll weekend! I was busy putzing, cooking, baking all weekend. I refused to go outside. Saturday morning was -40 with the windchill of -46. I wasn't moving for anything this weekend. DH did venture out to make sure vehicles were starting and pick up the few items we needed from the grocery store.

I finally figured out the pasta attachments ( my xmas gift I asked for ) for my kitchenaid mixer yesterday. I whipped up a a few perogies - enough for one meal....and then made some fresh fettucine!!!!! OMG it was soooooo good. I will whipping all kinds of pasta now! I've got a cart of thing on amazon already for making more!!!!!! A little time consuming - but with winter here - there is no better time than now to do it and freeze it!

It is -41 with the windchill here today! 🥶
Alberta here :wave2: it was disgustingly cold. I dread these cold days. Thank goodness they never last too long - but this one is starting to SLOWLY move out.
My son and his wife who I absolutely love Is letting me take the night shift from 11:30 to 5:00 to hold their baby tonight
OOOOOO enjoy alllll the snuggles!!!! How lucky are you that they made the trip for you to see your grandson!!!!! I can't explain that feeling of when you get to hold that grandchild for the first time - your heart just explodes! I'm just so darn happy for you!
I am going to make a rescue doggie quilt and send it to the new owner. I do Bichon rescue blankets and have been doing it for many years. It's so much fun and the people (and dogs) seem to love them. Since we are unable to adopt a Bichon at this time, this helps me feel better about losing my own bichon. And it's fun to do:)
That's amazing. I still miss our old fellow - he was a bichon cross - and he was so great with our kids and LOVED LOVED LOVED doing anything with us. Whether we were just going for a drive, a quad ride, he LOVED going in the boat fishing, and he LOVED when we were at the family lake lot or camping. I still miss him and it's been 3 yrs. No more pets for us - until we are old and not traveling anymore.
We had a lovely evening celebrating Kyle`s birthday. His friends were all amazing and it was a lovely evening, nice dinner and after celebrations too. Late nights all round, so lazy and relaxing day tomorrow.

Will be after lunch before we see him for cards and presents........ 🥰
Happy birthday to Kyle.

Older ds has his birthday this week, along with GD as well! Hoping to go out for supper to celebrate one night this week.

ps...I'm glad you're back ;)
We have a real feel of -7 this morning and it is blooming cold in any temp!!!!
Cold is cold is cold!!!!! It may not be the -40's we have had - but with the damp cold - it bites the skin just as much ::yes::
It has started snowing here but not very heavily. We probably won’t get much accumulation.
Sending you wishes of no accumulation. It always makes life harder when it's cold and snowy.

Well, I should track down a few more papers to shuffle around.

Have a great day everyone!!

Monday blues. Or should I say the city issued a Code Blue last night, with no expiration noted so far. Given we will go below freezing tonight, like last night, as colder weather, Arctic Blast of air over us coming with the snow later tonight.

Now saying snow in overnight, with total to 2 to 3 inches by early morning, with freezing rain to fall in the early morning tomorrow. I am really hoping they call a liberal, situational teleworking day instead of in office, or a delayed morning opening tomorrow announcement later tonight. Will be calling the weather line when I wake up, to see if they say anything, if not texting me later tonight. Sigh. Not looking forward to traveling in icy conditions in my predawn commuting time. May even take some leave, if not giving either teleworking or later opening, as want to travel at least when it’s past sunrise. Did it once, when more than double the miles when I was on the other side of the city. Scared the heck out of me, only to find out, our place was closed, due to city closing the streets for too slippery road conditions. 3 of us made it in that early morning, and we left around lunchtime when the city opened the streets. So nope, won’t do it again. Nor will I try to go with unplowed streets, or too icy ones. The one time I tried to get through, only to find my township had plowed, but the city did not, and turned my car around, and called to say not coming in. Placed was closed, after first saying a delayed opening. Sigh. But we haven’t had any snow in 2 years.

Fun Winter weather for us. But our city ballgame is tonight in FLA, so no delaying that game for cold, snowy weather.

It’s flurries outside and 30 degrees right now. Winter Weather Alert text from my County, to expire in 24 hours. This morning, older one picked up his car from the shop, and then the kids went to a grocery store and Sam’s, and said both were busy. Guess so. But we have a stocked kitchen now, so can hunker down if we have to.

Stay warm and safe, Charade. And those even colder than me, much colder than me, oh my Sask that is cold, also stay warm and dry.

And all have a Marvelous Monday, a holiday one for many of us.

Ooh trash cans to curb tonight.

lol....

Yes, volunteering has always taken up a good bit of our time in a week, has done for years. Like I said to you before, after new year you get the folks that suddenly decide to volunteer.....they never last and the regulars end up in place again more often. Tom is back at the food bank deliveries tomorrow afternoon as someone has already let them down.

Yes, American don`t do pots of tea, I don`t believe anyway, very few have tea despite claims of such......boil the kettle, teapot is already warmed with some hot water, empty teapot when kettle boils then add the tea....never teabags, they`re just the sweepings off the floor according to an old auntie who worked for Tetley a million years ago, tea is then infused till it`s strong enough. Teacup has milk already in, always milk first then pour the tea through a tea strainer and enjoy!! Proper British Breakfast tea and similar always have milk although my sister has hers black and some have sugar (bleurgh). Teas like Earl Grey, Oolong and Darjeeling you don` t take with milk, and fruit teas are another kettle of fish altogether!!!

I remember laughing once, I forget who it was, said they were a tea/brand snob and then said they drank Liptons......no, just no.

Oh never honey in tea unless you`re poorly and then it`s with lemon, ginger and honey.

There endeth the lesson on tea for tonight...... 😉

And no, not a stupid question at all.....very pertinent actually :)

Thanks for the reminder........Go Steelers!!!!!!

Another brave woman living in the land of cold!!!!

Well done on the pasta making!! Not my forte at all, but have fun with it and enjoy making it, perfect for a cold winter`s day too!

Thank you, he had a wonderful birthday....and you have two this week!! Nice. How old will GD be now? I do remember when she was born, but forget exactly when, she was a little cutie though!!

Thanks, nice to take a break sometimes from it all.

Hope you`re doing good and hope the birthdays go well too, enjoy dinner out if you do manage it.....:cake:

Not going out tomorrow at all!!! I am hibernating, Tom will be out in the afternoon, I`ll wait till it`s not in the minuses outside.

Decided I`m going to clear out the study, I have drawers that have stuff in them we really don`t need anymore and I feel like ordering some new bedding and towels for the master bathroom, feel like a change in theme in there.

And feel like an early night, a few late nights and I crave my bed by 10pm!! Tom`s up for an early night too...😉

Snowing here too Charade. My office said as normal tonight, but I will still hope they delay tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I’ll ask for a few hours of telework and come in a few hours later. Our weather news said bulk of snow in the overnight. Hope you don’t get much. Weather news tonight also said 2 to 3 inches for us, before freezing rain in the early morning. Guess we will have to shovel and sweep off my and older one’s cars. Then that Arctic air keeps us at freezing the highs until a low 22 degrees the high on Saturday, before that cold air leaves and we go back to 50’s by next week. It’s 24 degrees out right now. Sigh. Cold week in store for us.

Still snowing.

Hope you don`t get too much snow, is the car they gave you while yours gets repaired decent to drive in snow? Not that it`s ever fun driving in that, or maybe you have your own car back now and I missed it.

Another really cold one for us today, in the minuses for real with an even colder real feel, possibly snow middle of the day, but doubt it`ll come to anything. It`ll be nice and sunny though which helps.

Our car goes in for it`s one year service today, they come and pick it up and bring it back later in the day which is ideal as we have no plans to go out today, usually we drop our car off with the dealership and get a courtesy car, but this is something they offer now, so why not.

Going to clear out the study this morning, get the shredder going and a couple of the bathrooms as well as the usual daily cleaning stuff. Tom`s asked for grilled sandwiches for lunch, so brie, bacon and cranberry for me and cheese and onion for him, dinner will be roast salmon with traybake roast veg with some roasties in there too.

But plain old egg on toast for breakfast this morning and by then will be on my second pot of tea, albeit the first pot is a little one that holds two cups, ideal for one person, but when we have breakfast there is a large pot on the table.

Trying to read Les Miserables, so far it`s ok, but I`ve been warned he veers off topic a lot but it`s a very good book so far, will need a lot of tea with this one!

Have a wonderful Tuesday ☺️

Still snowing and 25 degrees, as tossed trash out the door. I assume trash trucks will be maybe a little later for pick up, but all have their cans at the curb. Snow was coming almost sideways, definitely felt cool out there. Phone said it feels like 18 degrees due to the wind. Sigh.

Looks like we got a couple of inches overnight. Office says still open as usual. Based on the traffic news, I have been listening to for over an hour now, there are several crashes already, roads are slippery in spots, slushy roads in the city, sleeting out in the city right now, and city schools are closed, so I am asked for weather related situational telework for today. As DH said, not worth risking a crash when driving today. And with this stormy weather, if ever a day to telework, today is a good one to do so.

But we are winter ready. We have winter jackets, hats, gloves and snow boots ready to clear our walkways with our snow shovels and car sweeping brushes to clear off cars later today. Snow, then freezing rain before it ends around 1 pm. We will put salt on walkways, given the coating of freezing rain, will even make walkways slick. We are having not even at freezing temp the high today, and oh my, 23 degrees the high tomorrow. At least the sun returns then though.

Good morning and today is a day to enjoy tacos, at home if having this winter weather, or enjoying one at Taco Bell or another taco place. So hope all have a most Terrific Taco Tuesday. Woot! Already a Tuesday today. Camel will be wearing sunglasses, but reporting it’s freezing cold out there, when he reports in tomorrow.

Quick hello. I decided to go into work today since the roads aren’t bad. We probably got about 2 inches of snow yesterday. Work is really slow this morning. Several people have opted to do telehealth sessions today, and since yesterday was a federal holiday, I have no mail to process today.

I got my car back this morning. I have been without it for 18 days. I am so happy to be driving my own car again, but I will miss the heated seats on the rental.

I need to go find something to keep busy for the next few hours.

Yes, heated and cooling seats are something that once you have them, you won`t want to be without them.

Hope the snow doesn`t get any worse now.

We had a nice productive day today, car was serviced and passed with flying colours as it should do only being a year old, managed to get all the desks and cabinets in the study sorted and got rid of anything out of date, Tom did a few hours driving for the charity we help with, I taught one of my goddaughters how to make sauces from scratch using a roux, taught her how to make pastry from scratch and marvelled her mother never taught her!! She`s only 18 but moving away for University in September so I said as I`m a better cook than her mother, I`d teach her the same way I taught Kyle.

It`s a good job I enjoy cooking and baking so much.

Does cooking and baking count as a hobby @disneyseniors ??? Maybe I do have a hobby other than reading and writing.....lol.......

Managed a TR post too. It is still absolutely freezing here, -4 tonight going lower during the night, we did have snow for a few hours around lunchtime when Sophia arrived. Her sister is the one who is in London training to be a consultant, lovely girls.

But, so cold, think we have to go out tomorrow then I have the old hair appointment on Thursday....just a cut and blow dry, don`t need any roots or highlights redoing yet, but it needs a cut.

Dinner is all cleared up and dishes in dishwasher, Tom is making tea and I baked some cranberry shortbread today, very nice.

Might watch some tv tonight......lazy night ahead!

Where I live I'll add a heated steering wheel to that list!!

I couldn't go without a heated steering wheel now that i'm used to it. It's really nice not having to wear your gloves to drive when it's -30.

Yay for getting your car back, Charade. Glad to hear roads clear.

No telework allowed, so I took the day off. No way was I going in early with the ick. Kids cleared off my car, and will go in tomorrow. Hope the roads are more clear, though anything wet will stay icy, as 29 out, and going into teens in the overnight. But enough must have complained, head boss said due to weather tomorrow, allowed to telework tomorrow. Good. Frigid feeling day tomorrow.
