somebody tell me we will be ok at aoa little mermaid room. we are on a budget

It seems like an ok idea until someone starts snoring or maybe the little one starts crying and wakes the whole room. Or 2 people in the room gets travelers diarrhea (true story). I would get 2 rooms at pop or get the suite. :)

I think four adults and the toddler in one room will be very tight. We stayed at Pop for one night when our twins were two-years-old and it was very cramped; I could not wait to move to CBR the next day. The value rooms are very tiny. I'd look in to getting two rooms at Pop.

Eh, we are cruisers and cruise ship rooms are tiny and crowded. No way around it unless you pay thousands more for a suite. We did 4 of us in a balcony too ( my mil, dh, me and oldest son) and had no issues. We did have restrooms the next floor up.

I stayed three nights solo in an AoA Mermaid room. I enjoyed the theming, but found the room to be a bit small even for just one person.

I would agree that you should factor in the additional adult costs at AoA, then see if you can get two rooms at another value for close to the same cost. Sometimes you can go through a third party, like Expedia or Orbitz, and they will be matching the general public discounts for Disney resorts and have codes you can apply on top for additional discounts. I just think it would be more comfortable for everyone to have more space.

However, every family is different. Only you know if your family works well in one hotel room (and a kind of smallish one at that). If you have traveled before and know that you don't have any issues in one room, then go for it. I don't do well for more than a night or two sharing a hotel room with more than one other person. If we're on a road trip, I can handle it for the overnights along the way, but when we reach our destination and are planning to stay put for a few days, I generally get my own room. But I have friends who pretty much all stay in one room wherever they go and however long they stay, because they would rather spend any additional money on other things than the room. So there really isn't one right or wrong answer. Do what works best for you.

I don't think there is any way you will get a toddler bed into that room. They best you can do is a crib sized inflatable mattress that will have to go in front of the sink and block access to the bathroom. I wouldn't do it. I suggest you go with Port Orleans Riverside if you are determined to do one room. They have a pull down bed that is plenty big enough for a 2 year old and wouldn't block access to anything. We stayed in LM with 2 adults and a child and it was tight, just because of the amount of stuff you have to bring for a week. If the 2 year old is in diapers and you need all those supplies it will be worse. We didn't have enough storage for a week's clothing for 3 people.

AoA on a budget? Disney charges a premium for that resort, and you will be cramped. I'd look at WBC (Wyndham Bonnett Creek)... nice 2-3 bedroom condos for less than a room with Disney, check eBay. You will need a car, but car rental at MCO can be dirt cheap if you shop around.

I cannot imagine 4 adults in one little mermaid room. At all. You will all be very familiar with everyone's bathroom habits. Gross. No privacy for anyone. If two rooms or a suite aren't in the budget, I'd actually stay off properly before I'd cram 4 adults and a 2 year old into a LM room.

If it were me, I would book two rooms over at Pop. Then, two adults per room, the toddler will fit nicely. And you can always walk over to AoA and check out the LM area.
I've stayed in a LM room twice. Once with my Ariel crazed dd.....she was about 17 at the time!! After the initial thrill of seeing the room, she barely noticed the theming. I'm not sure I would spend the money on a LM room for a 2y/o. Maybe in a few years, but not while she's so young. But...that's just me!!

I agree this would be tough. I stayed in a LM room with our three kids for one night before an AKL stay last year. Very small room and not easy to get ready in the morning. Two of the kids took showers at night, and our youngest waited until we checked in at AKL. I'm a huge fan of staying onsite, but I'd either stay offsite or cut the budget in other areas to make a different resort arrangement work.

Also, I entirely understand the pull of a little one loving a certain character and wanting to be "in theme" with that during a stay! But I agree with others - most of the fun LM stuff is around the resort and you could do a walk-around without staying in a LM room. The room itself is certainly themed, but not to the point where I think it would be worth the tight fit of four adults and a little one.

Have you thought about renting DVC points and staying in a 1 bedroom villa at OKW or SSR? The per night cost would probably be close and you'd get a ton more space. If you don't mind staying offsite, Bonnet Creek is a great option.

We've done what you're suggesting numerous times at Pop. We don't spend much time in the room and if you schedule showers it's not that big of a deal. I would suggest trying to get a room close to the lobby for an "extra" bathroom. We stayed at AoA once and won't do it again unless the offer discounts. The Little Mermaid rooms are just way too far from the lobby. Getting to the busses, food court, main pool, etc. was a hike and just not worth it.

A room at AoA will be no where near the lobby. They are at the very back of the resort. So no, there will not be a bathroom close by in case of emergencies.

Should have been more clear. I wouldn't recommend staying in Little Mermaid AoA regardless of the number of people.

We've stayed at all the value resorts, at AoA in a cars suite and once in a little mermaid room. For us I didn't find the little mermaid rooms at all different from the value resorts except for the higher price. The main pool and the food court are sooooo far away (we were in King Triton section of rooms). If I had a kid who was just everything Ariel I'd pay the extra, otherwise on a budget I'd stick with an allstar resort. If you're sharing a room and splitting the cost there's also the option of a moderate resort. You get a queen bed instead of a double and might not spend much different than AoA.

What about a family suite at All Stars Movies? Everyone seems to forget about those! Or two all stars rooms or 2 at Pop? Or offsite?

Heck, we're a family of 3 and I'm cringing at 10 days in a value room, but that's what the budget allows. Or offsite, but my hubby has nixed that for our munchkin's first trip. He doesn't want to drive, and we both know Z will love riding the bus. Silly 4 year olds.

I actually want to stay at All Star Movies this trip because our 4 year old is nuts about Toy Story, but DH is concerned about sharing buses. We may do AoA Little Mermaid, because of the theming and pools, but we do like to save money when we travel! It's between Pop and AoA right now.

We had 4 adults (myself, DW, my sister and my 16 year old niece and our 1 year old DD) and stayed at ASMU and had a great time. We always had music or sounds and a night light for our DD when we put her down for naps or at night at home, so she had no issues falling asleep in the room and once asleep we could have the TV on and talk without waking her. We even had our stroller in the room and it was fine, it's not like you are going to be running around the room. At night a couple of us would play cards at the table or sit on the bed and talk or watch TV. You really do not need a lot of room to do that.

I would highly recommend staying off site. For less than the cost of a little mermaid room, you can get an whole condo with 3 beds 2 baths and you can spread out, and save money :)
