somebody tell me we will be ok at aoa little mermaid room. we are on a budget

Could you make it work? Yes. Would the budget perhaps be better spent on an off-site two-bedroom condo and a rental car? Probably.

I investigated an off-site condo for our upcoming multi-generational trip. You can do a two-bedroom townhouse in someplace like Windsor Hills for $80 per night! We ended up on-site because my parents want to use DME and the dining plan, but I'll be advocating a rental townhouse or condo in the future.

ty all but because of the new summer dining promo we switched to lion kings suite.

I see you have switched to a Lion King suite. If you don't have your heart set on AoA, check out a suite at the All-Star Music resort. They are cheaper. We were given some pixie dust on a trip an upgraded to one for free. It was really nice! They are close to the buses, food court, and main pool. You can make your way over to the "quiet" piano pool and there is an Ariel statue there for your little one to enjoy.

Happy Planning!

I think you'll be much more comfortable and happy in a suite. And since you're in a LK suite, you'll be close to the food court and bus stop and will have a quick walk to the Little Mermaid area to take pictures with the icons and swim in the quiet pool. And I highly recommend taking a walk to the Cars area one evening after dark. It's gorgeous!

I'd still check into off site. We usually travel with my parents and I love doing this but there is no way I want to spend a week or more in the same hotel room with them. I think the biggest issue is that even though they adore my kids they need a break from them after a day of park touring.

We usually stay in a 3 bedroom condo somewhere. A 2 bedroom would work well for you guys since there is just one kiddo.

I would price the Cabins at FW. My bff's family stays there and they have 5. 3 teen-adult girls, mom, and dad....and they love it. Plus there's the kitchen and all the awesome outdoor stuff there. I think the LM rooms are overpriced for what they are and I would stay 5 in a BC room (2 queens and a convertible couch bed) before I paid $400/nt for one of those.

If you are on a tight budget, I wouldn't choose the LM rooms. As others have mentioned, they are always excluded from discounts. If you need to stay in a value, you may want to consider re-pricing with POP if and when discounts are released. You could always walk over the bridge and look at the LM section of AoA. Honestly, though, the room will be very tight. You would get a much bigger bang for your buck if you stayed off-site.
I would do it(I have done it!) but not at AoA... too $$$$ I would get a room at Pop,and use the pack and play they provide.... tight spaces don't bother us, and my DH would go enjoy the bathroom by the pool or lobby to provide some 'room relief' when needed:rotfl2: If the room is a place to change, shower and sleep who cares if it's tight? (not me,I like bargains)

I think you made the right move in switching to an A of A suite! We are staying in one for our first time in April and are really looking forward to it. If you are still trying to save money, I suspect you might be able to get a suite at All Star movies or sports for even less money. Also check out the FW cabins. They are a little remote, but really convenient to Magic Kingdom. If you plan to eat your breakfasts in the suite, you might actually break even in terms of the cost. Your two year old will be so overstimulated that I wouldn't worry too much about the room decor.

For others in the same situation as you, I think the biggest issue with your original plan was the fact that you have a toddler in the same room as four adults, 2 of which are not her parents. What do the adults do when its time for the toddler to sleep? And, what if she wakes up crying during the night and wakes the whole room? I am also very picky as to who I share a room with. Only immediate family plus my nieces, Mom, and sister. That's it. Not my MIL or FIL, nor my brother/sis in law, nor any of my BILs. Have a great trip, OP!

My sister had a bad experience with having a lot of people in a standard room. For her, it was just her immediate family but that included her and her husband, their 2 young teenagers; a pre-schooler; and a toddler....all in a standard room at POR. They legally fit in that room (it was a room for 5 plus a child under 3), but it was horribly crowded. I warned her over and over again when she was figuring out where to stay that a standard room was going to be too small for a 7-night stay (this was her first trip in over 20 years and first ever with kids). But she is very much in to "keeping up with the Jones'" and wouldn't be caught dead at a Value resort. She really wanted to stay at a Deluxe because as far as she was concerned even the Moderates were "too cheap looking" but she also wanted to go to Disney *that* summer and had no interest in saving up for another year. She kept saying, "We'll be fine in one room. We'll only be in the room to sleep and shower." I strongly suggested a suite at ASMu (AoA wasn't built yet) but she insisted it was too expensive...plus, it was a <gasp> Value resort. Not surprisingly, while they had a great time in the parks, their time in the room was not pleasant at all. In fact, it was so bad that they left a day early because they just couldn't tolerate it anymore. The thing she hadn't thought about was the 2 youngest kids needing to get to bed by 8:30 or 9:00 but since they were all in one room, that meant *everyone* had to go to bed at that time. That didn't fly well with her husband or the teenagers. A few nights they tried having one of the adults take the teenagers to the pool for an hour or so while the other parent put the younger kids to bed in the room, but they would wake up when the other family members came back to the room after swimming. They also didn't anticipate that a toddler waking up during the night would wake up the whole room. Plus, the room was also just so full of "stuff" (suitcases, air mattress, pack & play, double stroller, etc.) that there was barely any room to walk. By night 2 of the vacation, my sister knew they had made a mistake. I told her to go to the front desk and see if they could either get connecting rooms at POR or a value resort, but she didn't want to have to pack up everything and move, so they stayed where they were and she called me numerous times every day complaining about the situation.

We've stayed FW Cabins and love it there, but only 1 bathroom and no 1/2 bath is difficult. Plus, we find you really need a golf cart to get around - the internal buses are okay but if you are in the middle of a loop you've got a walk to and from the internal bus stop. So that is why we are staying in Cars Family Suite on our split stay next week. For what it is worth, I got the stay play and dine and am paying a little less than the FW Cabin with a golf cart.

We have done the legal 6 at POR before, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! It was at the beginning of a split stay between POR and an off site suite hotel, and we were all much happier at the off site hotel.
