Sold On The Dvc!!! Obviously!!!...(( Long ))

Don't forget that there are other DVC brokers too that you may want to contact in order to find the contracts that you are looking for. I personally used **********.com and would highly recommend them. Here's a recent thread about them. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1961375
I think that having a couple of brokers looking for your contract would be a good thing especially since the two resorts you are looking at are the smallest and tend to have fewer contracts on the market.

Also - you CAN buy points for BCV and VWL direct from Disney. Personally I think VWL is best bought resale b/c of the better price you'll get but depending on the size of contracts you want for BCV you may want to inquire with a DVC guide about buying direct. Be aware the some will say you can't buy the older resorts b/c they want to sell the newer so you might have to insist that you are ONLY interested in BCV/VWL. It may be a waitlist for the points but Disney does re-aquire points from ROFR. Also, several have reported that when you buy in to the older resorts direct thru Disney they don't charge closing costs which is where you can make up the difference (or close to it) from resale on the BCV contracts. This way you could get the exact UY you want and split up contracts. They may make you stick with a 160 pt contract plus whatever else you want but they might allow you to divide it evenly too - that seems to be hit and miss.

Good luck! :goodvibes

LOL DH and I are already discussing adding on at a couple of places to go with our main contract at AKV. We had always said we would never stay at AKV and then we toured the model and absolutely fell in love.

But we do know our first add on will either be at BW or BC unless a GF DVC ever comes to fruition.

We are like the same person...check this out...My wife and I bought on 8/2/08, just 3 days after you and also at AKV. We also have talked about adding on already and the frist wil be BCV and the second we will wait for GF.

I think you are my long lost twin!:)

Spliting up the points into two contracts sounds good. My only concern is that you won't be able to get a 2bd villa for a week at 11 months out because you don't have enough points at either resort. Your kids will be large teenagers soon and won't fit easily into a 1bd. Having enough points in your home resort is vital for the 11 month booking, they can't be combined.

I guess you can always stay a few days in one place and then move.

We have 500 points and two teenagers. We're looking forward to the day we have all the points for ourselves to cruise and do the Adventures trips. Once grandkids come along then we will need the room again.

The advantage to "buying where you want to stay" is that you will have a pretty much guaranteed place to stay. Buy at the place you love the most. That way, you don't feel "stuck" by only being able to book there.

So you will hear the "buy where you want to stay" mantra a lot on this board, but it is NOT altogether true.

Yes, you will get a four month booking advantage at your home resort, but there is no guarantee that what you want will be available even if you call at 11 months out. And, come 7 months out you have the same shot at your "home resort" as anyone else. In other words, do not think that just because BCV is your home that you can book at 4 months and get a room at BCV. You may, but you may be "stuck" at OKW or SSR, and your BCV ownership has bought you no advantage. The entire concept of "home resort" is completely null and void if you cannot or do not plan more than 7 months in advance. If you do, it matters; if you do not, it does not matter.

I'm a planner and I do have ownership in my favorite resorts, but if you are not a planner, save your money and buy the best deal you can find!
