They make me tremble with fear! :scared: Anyone else?

My mom was always afraid of cats and the funny thing was they liked her. If she was at someone's house that had a cat, the cat would land right in her lap!:earseek: However, a couple years before she died, she took in a stray at her apartment complex and she really did enjoy the cat.

My grandmother was. I always liked cats..until I got a dog. Now, YUCK!

ditto on the granny ,, my grandmother hated cats and was we think a lil bit scared of then till one of oiur outdoor kittiews adopted her as his human and now shes such a cat person that she takes him ( or has someone else take him to the vet every onth for a bath and a check up to make sure he stays healthy:)

The only cat I am afraid of is my sister's. It's as big as a mountain lion (I think that's in my head). But it will stand on it's back legs and hiss & try to bite you. Once when I was watching her kids it trapped me in the bedroom and I had to call my hubby over to come save us.

I like cats, but our new neighbor is scared to death of them. We have to put our cat away when she comes over.

I love kitties :cat:. . . .but dogs, on the other hand. That calls for a new thread I think :teeth:.

I share my home with four cats...yes, I'm afraid of them, they run this house to their satisfaction, and if they are displeased there's heck to pay.

I'm not AFRAID of cats, but I don't trust the sneaky little devils.

When I was small, my aunt had an evil Siamese that would sit and stare at me. Gave me the evil eye... I was just never comfortable with the little monsters from that point on.

(And my dog looks at cats as very active chew toys, so we don't have many feline visitors.)

I'm not. I have two.

My MIL is not really so much afraid of them but she says she doesn't like the way they "feel".

WTH?

I"ve tried several times to get her to warm up to them but it's hopeless. She'll never know how good a warm soft cuddly cat feels sitting on her lap.

But as usual, they always seem to want to rub against her or jump on her lap. "they" know....

One of my grandmothers hated cats. If they were inside, outside cats were okay. Learned a lot of "old country" superstitions about cats from her. For instance:

They'll steal the breath away from a child. Yep, if your child is too close to one, they could suffocate and die. I think this stems from the fact that babies are usually warm, and cats like warm things so to a cat it's natural to cuddle up to a baby. It wouldn't be aware that it was covering something like a mouth or a nose.

Cats are awful luck to have inside, unless someone is sick. For some reason they're good to have around sick people - maybe because if they can steal the breath, they'll steal the sick breath away and the person will get better? Who knows. But if anyone in the house was sick, a cat was brought in from the barn to stay in the room. In the meantime I'm thinking Oh sure, fleas are really gonna help...

Ditto! If Wedge and Tycho are displeased, the whole household will suffer. I'm afraid of them! :p

And I think cats can tell. Tycho always knows who doesn't like cats/is allergic to them, and sits on that person all day.

Why in the world are you afraid of cats? They are cuddly and wonderfully little animals. I adore them.

I'm another one with a Grandmother who is deathly afraid of cats. Hates them with a passion too. Swore up and down she would disown me if I didn't get rid of my cats when I was pregnant, she was convinced my baby and I would get this horrible disease from the cats, or the cats would get in the crib and smother the baby once it was born. She realized she was fighting a losing battle so she decided not to disown me, but I still have to put the cats in my bedroom when she is visiting. And even then she is paranoid, looking around for the cats.

Funny how many grandmothers seem to be afraid of cats. Both of mine loved cats and one in particular taught me all about them. She and I were the only ones who could get close to certain feral cats that she cared for.

My Late Mother had them growing up, 37 in fact at one time, and I LOVE them!:o My first was a Himalayan Persian, and have had various kinds since than.:o My DH had a BIG red Kitty, I re-named him Tonto because he looked like the cat in the movie "Harry and Tonto" and he once BIT me on my Butt, as I was bending to put my pants on! I was a little leary of him at first, but, realized he was just hungry.:o ::yes::
