I just finished In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. She also wrote Good In Bed. (both are great books) It was a nice contrast from White Olenander, which I read right before that one.

Now I'm reading Here On Earth by Alice Hoffman. So far so good.

Lars624 - I also read She's Come Undone... that was a great book! I would recommend Watermelon by Marian Keyes and both of Alice Sebold's books (The Lovely Bones and Lucky) I think you would enjoy those also.



Oh, my dh loves reading Grisham and James Patterson. But for some reason I just can't get into those books. I did like a couple of JP's books... The Beach House and Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. They were a little more my style.

I'm reading Alaska by James Michener. I decided to read it because we plan on going on an Alaskan cruise this summer. I've been reading it for about 8 months though, since I can't read for long because of my headaches.

I am really glad I'm reading it though. It is helping me get a feel for the history of Alaska and it is also helping me decide which shore excursions to take.

Donna, have you checked the books on tape at your local library? May be easier to listen than to read with the migraines. I don't know how you stand it, but hope you can find relief soon!

A 57-year-old woman was admitted with progressive drowsiness and a change in mental status. A biopsy of an axillary node had been performed one week before admission because of bilateral axillary lymphadenopathy. Neurologic examination revealed a short attention span and right-sided homonymous hemianopia. She was afebrile, her neck was supple, and no facial weakness was noted. A computed tomographic scan of the head showed a ring-enhancing mass in the left temporal region. During preparation for stereotactic needle biopsy of the brain mass (planned because her mentation continued to deteriorate), discharge from the left otic canal was noted. Acid-fast bacillus staining of this material was positive, and the procedure was abandoned. Subsequent magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the presence of a mass in the temporal lobe and, after infusion of gadolinium, demonstrated enhancement of mastoid air cells (arrowhead) with a connecting tract (arrow) between the mastoid and the intracranial lesion. Discharge from the left otic canal showed acid-fast bacilli. After 12 days of antituberculous therapy and corticosteroids, the patient became more alert. A test for human immunodeficiency virus was positive, and the acid-fast bacilli were identified as Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Brain abscess is an established complication of mastoiditis, and M. tuberculosis causes less than 0.1 percent of cases of otitis media and mastoiditis. Tuberculosis can reach the mastoid through the eustachian tube, hematogenously, by way of lymphatics, or through a perforated tympanic membrane. In this case, there is a connection between the intracranial tuberculoma and the diseased mastoid through the dura, which usually forms an effective barrier against such direct invasion

I love Diana Gabaldon's books.

I never really considered books on tape because I am more of a visual person than an auditory one. I just can't concentrate with only listening....

I've just finished two Christmas gifts, "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" (Rebecca Wells) and "A is for Alibi" (Sue Grafton's first Kinsey Milhone mystery).

The other three I received as gifts are "Fell Swoop" (Piers Anthony's Xanth series), "The Last Salmon of Doubt" (the late Douglas Adams), and "Tricky Business" (Dave Barry).

I'm not sure which one I'll dig into next. I love having choices!

With all of the every day stresses I like to relax with a little fluff. My current fluff read is No Place Like Home by Fern Michaels. Yesterday I finished Nicholas Sparks Road to Roadanthe.

I'm another Janet Evanovich fan too, haven't read Visions of Sugar Plums yet, and I am anxiously awaiting #9 too.
