And it is officially gone.

I was annoyed and I could tell the kid at the counter was too. We asked him why it was gone and he said (and I quote) :

"Fat people sued us".

I thought it was a rather rude statement and was shocked he'd say something like that but that's besides the point.

I was SO hungry after work today and we haven't had McD's or anything not healthy in like, 2 months. The portions of fries (IMO) were quite reduced.

Ah well. I am just sad that they stopped selling them. They have always had things like salads on their menu so I really think it was up to individuals to decide for themselves or their children what to ingest.

There are some of us who take responsibility for what we choose to eat and who just feel like eating a lot of fries and "being bad" once in a while.

I guess now I'll just have to pay for two fries next time if I want more. Maybe it's just a marketing ploy so people will buy more fries?

I just don't know what to think.

That's essentially the reasoning. McDonald's no longer wanted to have the image that they contributed to obesity. Did you notice the new salad selections?

really? ahhh man....I mean i guess now i won't be tempted...but like you said, its up to the individual to decide what to eat...

:(

They've had salads for a while. They're pretty good too. I used to get them alot, I just don't eat out anywhere as much anymore as I used to.

I'm sad too. We always have dh supersize and share fries and soda and then just get burgers for the boys. I've been eating McD's salads for years since I don't like their other food.

DBF and I often shared fries as well.

One supersized fries was all I had to order for all 3 of my kids. It made it easier than getting 3 smalls. :(

I just laughed at that. I can' believe that kid SAID that to you. I'm surprised McD's didn't have a canned response forced into their hands, ready to give it to you like, "McDonalds is concerned about the health of Americans"... or some related statement.

Holy cow, that's funny.

Congrats on being one of the few folks in America that CAN be responsible with your french fry consumption.

bravo to mickeyd's for downsizing their portions. this is one shrinkage of america i can get behind. ::yes::

Is McDOnalds still charging the supersized price?

Pun NOT intended, I assume.... but still funny when I read it!

Maybe now, when you order in the drive thru, they'll say "Would you like a salad with that"?~!

No big deal to me, we mostly only get milkshakes there, anyway. No supersizing going on in my household!

They really did get sued by several people in NY. I think the case was thrown out but they added the new healthier "adult happy meals" (with pedometer) and did away with "supersize" as protection against future lawsuits. But, I think the counter staff should have a better response than the one you got.

Can't believe somone on the counter would say that. Probably the same kid who forgot how to ring up a supersize fries on the cash register in the first place.

McDonalds is always changing their menu. I used to work there.
Remember when the fries were really good and cooked in animal fat.

Remember when the fish sandwich had a steamed bun.

A movie is playing in the arthouse theater called "Supersize
This." The guy ate McDonalds for every meal for a month and gained 25 lbs and had some health issues. He is getting a lot of publicity.

The McDonalds CEO passes away and people point the finger at him saying maybe he ate too much McDonalds. How cruel!

I commend you on your fry discipline. At least the fries will always be better than White Castle's.

any food, when eaten in excess, is harmful.

But sounds like a response I would give....

and yes, I do remember when McDonald's fries were awesome. Then they changed frying ingrediants. Then I liked Wendy's fries but they changed their fries into McDonald's type fries.

Wow.....have you heard about that movie "Supersize"? Independent film....guy ate nothing but fast food 3 times a day for just a month-his cholestrol skyrocketed and started having liver damage. I applaud McDonald's for stopping the supersize. I haven't eaten a french fry in years...unhealthy.

Wow, Thanks for the heads up. We have not been to Mcdonalds in awhile ,but when we do go we usually share a supersize fry.

while I like the new salads, I really liked the ones they use to have in a shaker cup better.

You should try to order the apple and caramel thing in addition to a chicken nugget happy meal. I really confused them in the drive thru one day when I did that.

Since they got sued by vegetarians for not warning them about putting a touch of meat bouillon or what ever it was in their fries, their fries just aren't as yummy any more.

We just saw this movie on Sunday - you can check it out the info at www.supersizeme.com . This movie was AWESOME - we really enjoyed it! I eat McDonalds, very occasionally, and it was still good to be able to watch what it does to the folks that do eat it on a regular basis. This guy's liver was turned into the consistency of "PATE" afterwards. It was scary !

Anyway - highly recommended, had to interject.
