I think they should have just kept it a secret. If the staffer denied it and her husband believed the boy was his, Arnold should have let it be and not open his mouth. Things like this have happened since the beginning of time.

Ok, I did some digging and fully admit to being wrong.

According to Wiki (the ever-reliable go-to of the internet )"Stay" is from the perspective of the mistress, even though Nettles herself was cheated on.

Now I don't like the song anymore. I always thought it was about the wife left behind.

That's funny. Dh and I were just talking about this...if the cheater won't leave the spouse, when does the mistress start to feel betrayed and cheated on too? (and yes, I know it's not really funny.)

I just don't get that. She's just telling a story in first-person narrative; it's not like she actually was the other woman. She's a songwriter, an artist, who invents characters and writes about them, just like an author. I don't get from the song "Hey, go find a married man and seduce him; it's fun!"

I think it's fascinating that Maria said she specifically tried to pick a man who wasn't a typical Kennedy-man -- i.e. politically-driven and unfaithful.

So she picks an actor/bodybuilder -- and what does she end up with? A man with political ambitions who is unfaithful.

It's almost like fate -- like she couldn't avoid it.

I can't even imagine being on the receiving end of such news. It's going to change the lives of their family and the mistress's family, permanently.

I don't judge him so much for the cheating -- sadly the percentage of people who cheat on their spouses is high for both men and women -- it's the covering up a child for 10 years that blows my mind. Especially when you're so high-profile and it's bound to come out. And, call me crazy, but I'd want a relationship with my child. Didn't he care about that???

I was almost the other woman once. When I found out the man was engaged (so not even married but engaged to me said "hands off"), I told him not to contact me again. It sucked a bit at the time, but I lived.

Like previous posters have stated, Maria's a strong woman. She will be okay.

As for the "it takes 2 to tango" attitude...that may be true but it irks me when women do that to other women.

what bugs me is it was done ..right under her nose!! Is the house they live in together. This "other" women worked for Maria. THAT, is just, OMG..I feel for Maria.

Maybe that's why Maria and the kids moved out, because she no longer wanted to be in that house where it all happened. Usually in cases of separation, the dad leaves the family home so the kids aren't uprooted.

Okay, it was 10 years ago and Maria's just finding out now? I think she probably knew that Arnold had affairs. I wonder if there are any more children? I wouldn't worry about the kid - how cool is that to find out that your father is the Terminator? Hopefully Arnold's other children will accept this one as a sibling. Does anyone know the status of the mother of this child? Is she married, have other kids, etc.?

Why should they? I know that if any come out of the woodwork saying they are the offspring of my father they are going to be told where to go. I am positive he has some (based on a photo I found with his porno colllection, family picture of a woman and a girl outside a hotel) and they are nothing to me. Also look at the figures look at the percentage of women raising another man's child as their partner lying not only to the "father" but also to the child 30% is the figure

That is crap. It just happens that neither person has any form of self control. If it is a one nighter, they could have avoided the bed, the desk etc, and keep their friggin clothes on. If it is something that develops into a romantic relationship, before you both pursue it, consider your partners and get out first. It is called common decency to the person you took vows with.
