damn hair dryer.

I JUST bought this one too...about a month ago - do you think I saved the receipt? Good thing it was only $11 at target.

It was a conair travel one (small - but POWERFUL) loved how fast it dried my hair...had a folding handle and a retractable cord - which always wanted to retract back in.

So as I'm fighting with it this morning to keep the cord out, I say screw it, put it aside, and haul out my old dryer. My old full sized conair is HEAVY and it's just not putting out the air to dry my hair. So I go back to the other one and continue the fight with the cord.

Then it starts making a funny sound...I SWEAR I saw sparks fly out the back.

turned it off and put my semi dry hair back into a pony tail - good enough. heheh

then I notice all these little pieces of plastic on the floor. lovely.

so - can anyone reccommend me a good POWERFUL hairdryer? I liked the smallness of the travel one - but I can do without the retractable cord if it's going to be a constant fight. Going to Target at lunch to find a new one.

thanks!

yikes. I don't know of a good small hair dryer (mine is big), but I just wanted to say I'm glad your okay! :goodvibes

Mine is also big, it is an Ion dryer from Sally Beauty Supply. I have to say that it is by far the best dryer that I have ever used.

Glad you are okay!!

Yeah, I should invest in a QUALITY one...but I rather spend $100 on products then one dryer. hehehe

yes, I'm a product wh*re

Yep... I can remember this happening to me multiple times as a teenager with the compact Conair hair dryer. After a couple of times, I decided to spend a few bucks more and get a better one. I even saw it happen to a friend of mine in a hotel in Williamsburg. Sure enough, I looked at the dryer (one of those compact ones installed on the wall) and it was a Conair. Lucky for her, I don't travel without my big Revlon hair dryer, so her hair was saved for the evening! :teeth:

I have a conair from CVS. It's really small and light, but it doesn't have any attachments. I've had it for years, and it's still working! I'm growing my hair out and it's a few inches past my shoulders, so a lot of the time I put it back wet and it dries wavier that way! :sunny:

The small ones are not good enough. My HD to me to buy a large dryer with at least 1800 - 1850 watts. Anything small with close to that wattage, will breakdown, melt or explode.

Ion is a great brand, but if you don't want to spend the $$$, find the one you like and search for it on eBay.
