I just called MS to see if they had any studio's avail. for 2/13 to 2/17. Doesn't matter which resort. I was just able to swing a few days off. MS is not taking any ressie until tomorrow. But I have a flight I want to book, but not if they don't have any availability. What should I do? This is valentines weekend. What do you think my chances are for getting a room?

I'd be reluctant to book a flight since your travel dates include the start of President's weekend. This can be a busy time.

Perhapps when they get the system working, they will be able to tell you if there are any available for you to make your decision.

Good Luck,
Rob

If you have great airfare and really want to get away, I would book it, then if you don't get into DVC, try other onsite or just stay offsite, thats if the airfare is a great deal. Did you try Vero???

Hey want2byDVC, looks like we bought VWL about the same time.

I'm waiting to book the air until after I hear on a room. But Vero sounds nice. Which airport is closer to Vero?

I can tell you that I've been on the wait list for VWL and BCV for 2/16 - 2/18 and I haven't gotten a call yet... I was looking for a studio also. When I first called a couple of months ago, I was told there was no availability at any DVC resort for a studio for President's Weekend. Now, of course things could have changed since then..... Good luck, Ihope you have better luck than I've had!!!

I second the comment above...I would not book the airfare. I called back in mid-November and could not get a studio or a 1 bdr. at any of the on-property DVC resorts for Sat. Feb. 15th or Sun. Feb. 16th.

I'm also on the waitlist for a studio for 2/16-2/19. I requested any resort and haven't heard anything yet. Sorry:(

Not sure who you are booking you airline through, but I know that NWA will put a 24 hour hold on your tickets before they actually ticket them. This way you will be gauranteed the price you find today, but can cancel tommorrow with out penalty.

Thanks Terry I'm going to give AirTran a call to see if they have a policy like this...

If the airline holds the seatsfor you, they will NOT guarantee that the airfare will be the same .

This is usually not a problem, but don't think that a hold is the same as a purchase.

I've heard that too when booking USAir, the 24 hour hold only holds your seat it does not hold the price.

I have to agree with the above posters, because it has happened to me!!! I p laced seats on hold for around 3 hours, before calling back to book the tickets (wanted to confirm with DH). Anyway, after calling back and being given a MUCH higher price, I asked why, since I had placed the lower priced seats on hold. I was then informed, all that is held are the seats, the fare isn't guaranteed. The lowest fare is still available to the public, and if that allotment is bought before you call back, you're out of luck. I was!!!! I changed my dates by one day and was able to get back the lower fare, but I'll never make that mistake again!!

I know USAir allows you to cancel a reservation within 24 hours of booking, so you could book it and cancel tomorrow if needed.

Why not consider a couple of days in a moderate resort. Before DVC we always stayed at Dixie Landings alligator bayou section and loved it. The amount of points is close to a studio.
