~Snowbird Chat 2~

Just wanted to pop in and say hi!

DH had surgery for trigger finger on BOTH hands on Monday (he's doing fine), but I've been operating on overdrive all week! Work, kids, driving etc. Finally got a few minutes to DIS tonight and catch up on TRs. Not mine, of course...I do plan to wrap that March one up and get going on Alaska soon.

So if any of you are single parents, or your spouse travels a lot for work and you bear the brunt of the parenting and household duties - I just want to say: HOW DO YOU DO IT???? :worship: I mean, Dave's here and I can't keep up! At least he can drive now. That is a big help with schlepping the girls back and forth to dance! He's planning to be off work for at least two weeks, probably 3-4 and has grand plans to "do stuff" as his hands allow. I'm thinking a honey-do list is in the works!

Okay - got to get to bed. I'm beat! Hope you're all doing well!!!

Glad his surgery went well! I don't know what I would do if I didn't have Jason. He went out of town for 3 days not long ago and I felt like I was drowning. It was all me and it was hard!!!!

Not much going on around here. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday and other than that I have big plans to just relax! We just went to Disney in June and I'm already in need of a vacation. I actually found myself sitting at the kitchen table with a glass of wine after a loooong day not only planning the next trip but also looking at places to move closer to Disney the other night. Poor Jason just shook his head and laughed at me.

Glad the surgery went well. Hope he is on the mend soon!! I know what it is like, my DH has worked 60+ hours a week for years and years. Plus he has about a 35 minute drive each way. Sometimes he would work upwards of 70 hours in a week. :faint: It seemed like he was never home. It was rough there for awhile, pretty much doing it all myself.

He works less hours now and the kids are older, so it's not as bad anymore. Just lots of homework and running around every night.

I hope you can get back to Disney soon Kim! pixiedust:

:cold: Yay! :cold:

I was just talking to my mom and my sister and we may be snowbirds next January with the whole family just like in 2009 when this thread first started. And of course you know that means I'm already planning details for it even though it's just a thought for now. :stir:

Hi ladies!! Well.. we are at 45 days today!!! can't wait to see ::MinnieMo::MickeyMo:tink:

I went over all my park days yesterday and made sure everything correct and i wasn't forgetting anything crucial! everything is ready... I am making a list of the one thousand things I want/need to do before we go...

it is also another countdown day....

12 WEEKS TIL CHRISTMAS!! :santa:

Can you believe it?!! I, Little Miss Prepared & Organized have not done ONE single solitary thing to prepare for Christmas this year. Nothing. Nada.Zip.
I really feel terrible about it!! DS14 and dd have seen a couple of LEGO sets they like...and that is IT!!! DS17~turning 18 the first of Dec, doesn't want ANYTHING!!!!
What the heck am I going to do?! Seriously still thinking of a vacation over Christmas break...but I am stumped still...I think it's a sign that we have all we need, all we want and are super blessed!!!!! And I am thankful!!...but they still want a present for Christmas!:rotfl:

Totally changing direction here...this weather is killing me..slowly. We have had lots & lots of much needed rain :umbrella: and had a tiny(i mean tiiiiiny) cool front last week with the rain...which dropped us from the 100s and upper 90s every day...and it's been great. But today it looks as thick as pea soup out there...my eyes are burning and blurry, I can hardly breath and am just hanging on till Sunday when the next wee little cold front drops down...should have a night or two hit the low 50s after it comes through...until then, you can probably hear all of us in this area clearing their throats, slightly coughing, sniffling and sneezing from the depths of humidity we call home...

Hooray for more Snowbird vacations!!! Wish I could join you! I was supposed to run the 10K in January, but that's not happening now. My sister is taking my place. Things had to change a bit when I got invited to the conference (which was AMAZING!).

Hi snowbirds!

I'm still trying to carve out more DIS time so I can work on my TR. Just too busy or too tired most days!

Hope you have a nice weekend! We have a big event at church with Feed My Starving Children and then my cousin just had her first book published, so I'm going to the launch party. It's pretty exciting!

Hope everyone is doing well.....

we had a nice 5 day trip in September with my sister and her husband.... here are my thoughts on traveling at that time off year.... next time I will stay home.... it was brutally hot... by 10 am I was dying.... I have been in July and August and didn't feel so uncomfortable..... other than that it was good. We tried a new place for dinner... Germany... it was okay but not sure if I would go back... we ate at Le Cellier one night... three of us had great meals... my brother in laws steak was tough.... Tim and I stayed at Shades of Green.... it was GREAT!!!! we had a corner room that was bigger than the normally huge rooms.... everyone from the front desk to housekeeping were terrific. My sister and her husband stayed at Bay Lake towers... they had a terrible experience... the room was dirty (like dried food on the pillows, tables and floor)... housekeeping didn't come on their scheduled day (DVC only gets it every couple of days)... you have tow walk to the contemporary for everything... they are glad they tried it but they won't stay again. We did love the private lounge at the top of Bay Lake Towers though...

Park crowds were great.... no waiting for anything... our daughter joined us for the weekend.... her and my sister went to the Night of Joy concert which they loved.... I went to mini golf with the two guys... we had fun...

Looking forward to December.... I love the parks at the holidays...

September is crazy hot at WDW! I have now been 3 times in September but it's still my favorite time to go. After Labor Day, the crowds are gone. I did end up getting dehydrated while I was there, but that's my own fault. When I travel with my family we order a case of water. Even at home I always have a bottle of water with me at all times.

Hope everyone is doing well. October has been my busiest month to date with my business. Not complaining at all! I think I need to invest in a better desk chair though since I have been living in it for weeks. Last documents are getting delivered next week and I just got a set of docs today for a November client. It I never ending but I love it!

I have quite a few trips booked for 2014 already and I am still waiting to hear back from a few families as well. I truly have the best job in the world!!

Hi there! I hope someone here can help. There are too many pgs to read thru. and I'm not getting any younger! ;)

My Husband & I may become Snowbirds this winter, or more likely next. We'd appreciate help deciding where.

Our options are $30 - 40 thousand per yr to be comfortable. We are considering Daytona Beach Fla. or another Fla. Beach location. Is Cocoa Beach Fla. $$$$$.

Also S.C. Ralleigh, Greensville, possible.

Any advice?

We are not actually Snowbirds. That was the name of a group of DISers who all went to WDW in January 2009. This is now a group where some of us from that group continue to chat and share about our lives, Disney trips and everything in between!

Sorry we can't help!

Thanks for replying. ;)

Can you believe that Jan/Feb is going to be my most profitable time??? :faint:

I have been very busy lately too!! I have 10 trips booked between the last week of Jan through about mid February, and I'm working on another one!! :yay:

That is great! I have 10 reservations for October alone! There are some MNSSHP tickets thrown in too (sadly no commission on those anymore). My first clients check in on Monday and they keep overlapping until the last client checks in on Halloween. November starts right back up again around Veterans Day. No rest for me!

Sounds great - maybe there's hope for me yet! No clients yet, just some quotes. Hoping it'll pick up.

We had a great trip first week of October. No magic bands or FP+, but we still had a great time. And yes, it was still HOT! We took the afternoon breaks, which we usually don't. But the crowds were really light. We stayed at POFQ, and my DH, the Disney hater (who came for 2 days to surprise our daughter for her birthday ) said he'd consider staying there! He'll bring his golf clubs and meet up with us for meals & pool time.

We also did two nights over at Universal - both DD and I have decided we're Disney girls. Universal is a great park for people who love roller coasters & 3 D motion simulators, and we did enjoy WWOHP. And we LOVED Halloween Horror Nights - not for the young or the faint of heart. The theming within an area is great, but there's no transition between areas, and the organization doesn't make a lot of sense (WWHOP is between Lost Continent & Jurassic Park). And if you go on any of the water rides, make sure you have quick-drying clothes! You get SOAKED - they make Splash & Kali River Rapids look like stone-dry coasters! Which was REALLY nice on a hot day, but would have been better if I hadn't been wearing denim! :rotfl2:

trying to decide is we want to go to MVMCP or Victoria and Alberts......been to both before.... it would be just my husband, son (20) and myself
